Called roto rooter (syracuse branch... I had called the office above to schedule a visit and they referred me to the syracuse branch). The secretary was very friendly and was able to send a tech to the house within the hour. The tech did an assessment and gave a free estimate. The estimate was incorrect however, because the problem was bigger than intended. However, he did get the job done in what seemed like a reasonable amount of time... it's hard to gauge price as we've never had to use a plumber before. It did seem expensive to me but I really have no comparasion.

Called Roto-Rooter at approximately 6:00PM. On call plumber called back within ten minutes and was on scene within 30 minutes. He diagnosed the problem immediately and started to fix the problem. He rebuilt section of copper piping and added ball valve shutoff and female adapter for new outside hose bib. Every step of the repair was explained as well as the estimated cost. There were no surprises and the cost was acceptable for the day and time.
Description of Work: Fixed bad solder joint in plumbing. Water supply to the house had to be shut off until problem was fixed. Replaced entire section of copper pipe. Added a ball valve shut off as requested. Also, added an outside hose connection. The repair and rebuild was done quickly and water to the house was restored within two hours. All this with one hour notice and on a Sunday evening.

I had hoped that they would be able to use pressurized water to remove the roots instead of digging up the yard. Ultimately, I had to dig up part of the yard myself while they were at the house, and they still wanted to charge me the full $600 fee. It took a phone call to the national office to have the Rochester location grant me a partial refund of $150.

The job was completed in 2 stages due to cost. In January, 2013 Roto Rooter replace my sewage line 42' from the house (cost $4500). The contract included for them to "rough grade" my lawn. This "rough grade" was not completed in January but I did not complain b/c the job needed to be completed in the spring. On May 27-28th, 2013 Roto Rooter returned to connect my sewage line to the main sewer line ($2500). The contract price included - stone and materials specified by the permit issued by the town of Honeoye Falls, NY. - cost of asphault at the time. The contractor/contract stated asphault was needed b/c the street would need to be dug up to connect my sewer line to the town main sewer line. I would then be responsible for replacing the asphault. The street was never dug up and asphault never used. - "machine grade level" of lawn (never completed). I was never refunded money for any of this my yard is a MESS!!!!!
Description of Work: I hired Roto Rooter to replace my collapsed sewage line and then connect it to the village main sewer line in street. Roto Rooter did NOT fulfill the contract, damaged my tree with their machinery, and left my front yard a mess. See attached pictures. The job was slated to be a 1 job day but took 2 days to complete because the village of Honeoye Falls, NY made them stop and get the correct materials per permit specifications. My contractor and supervisor have not returned my the multiple calls and messages I left. I then personally went to Roto Rooter to speak with supervisor and was told to send email with pictures of my lawn in which I did. I have heard nothing back in over a week.

He arrived at 9:30 am and started cutting the roots in the pipe and did this a total of three times to make sure the pipe was clear. He was friendly and explained the process and cleaned everything up when he finished. It was about 11:00 am when he finished. If we need any more services of this kind, we would definitely call them again.

My drain was plugged in the tub I called Roto Rooter at about 8:45am. They said they would be out to help me between noon and 2:00pm and would call before coming. All that went well, they called about 12:30 and arrived 15 minutes later. The tech looked at my problem and gave me an estimate of 368.00. I was in shock at the cost to snake a drain, but he was there and I needed the drain unplugged so I sign the form to have the work done. He was quick enough. He had to take apart sink drain because it was plugged beyond that point. The tech snaked the drain and freed up my tub in a matter of minutes. I will say, he cleaned up after himself fairly well. The cost was my problem with this job, and the tech even admitted Roto Rooters prices are quit high but he said they stand behind their work. So I gave them an F for their price.

We called for an estimate on a backed up sewer and faulty hot water tank on Friday afternoon. The girl took our name and number and said someone would get back to us. We did not get a return call until Tuesday. The guy did apologize for taking so long. We set up an appointment for the estimate and that guy came promptly look over what we wanted and said someone would call us to give us the estimate that he couldn't do it. this was on Friday and we were to get the call the next day. No one called so on Tuesday we called and left a message and never got our call returned. I guess they didn't want our business.

It was a late Sunday afternoon at our new house on 12/23 with family all coming over for dinner on Dec 24th. The kitchen sink was not draining and leaking. The plumbing was at the house within about an hour and fixed the draining and resealed the bottom of the sink. Very professional and punctual. I thought the price was a little high, but then again it was a Sunday evening on Dec 23rd. Overall very happy.

They were very responsive, I called the evening before and they arrived as promised the next morning. This was not an emergency job. Kitchen sink drain was clogged at the clean-out and required snaking which we had determined before we called for service. I was puzzled that they were unwilling to provide an hourly rate over the phone, but since the estimate was at no charge I decided to have them come. I explained to the serviceman what was required and he quoted me $350. When I told him the price was too high, he lowered it 3 times until he got to $175. I then called my husband who thought the price was still too high and he dropped it again to $150. The job only took 45 minutes. When I went to pay the bill they would not honor the Angie's List coupon. The serviceman was polite and friendly, but I did not at all like being jerked around on the price, hence my "F" rating on Professionalism. I would not recommend.

Jack worked really hard to try to save our line out to the street! I was impressed that he did not give up easily so I felt better about spending so much money clearing the line. The $350 initial charge was absorbed into the $500 Jet clearing service. He worked about 3.5 hours, was neat and courteous. He also arrived right on time - about an hour after I called.
Description of Work: Tried to snake a 3" clay pipe for one of our downspouts that leads to the storm sewer. Jack got about 40 feet into the 8 foot' run and it became clear that the line was full of silt and roots. The snake charge was going to be about $350. Jack suggested going with their "Jet service" where they use a high pressure stream of water to clear the line. The Jet service was $500. He came back an hour later with the machine and was able to clear the line. He even checked the storm sewer out in the street to show me that we where successful.

My husband called and the tech was at our house within an hour or so. Jacob, the technician was friendly, courteous and efficient. We were very pleased with his service. He was able to clear the drain and take a few extra minutes to ensure everything was clear all the way out to the road. Aside from the price, which seemed steep but this was a Sunday, we were very pleased with the service.

We chose Roto Rooter because it was a household name, but mostly because of their flexibility when it came to scheduling an appointment. They were available any day of the week and any time you need them. The plumber actually came earlier than I expected, which was fine because he called me first to make sure it was ok to come early. I hate waiting all day anyway. He was here for about 30 min or so to snake the drain in the sink. Once he did that, both tub and sink drains were fine. I guess they were on the same line. Over all I was happy with the results, his candor and timeliness...just not the large price tag. I'm a first time home buyer, and we had not been in the house more than a few weeks, so I didn't expect having one drain snaked would cost so much. I have to admit...I don't think we will be using them again. The final price after the $20 coupon was applied, was $318 to snake one bathroom sink drain in less than 30 min.I would have hated to see the price if he snaked more than one drain. Mrs. Hochworter

The response to my web site request for service was prompt -- actually a bit too prompt. I said in my request that it wasn't urgent. I submitted my request Thursday evening. On Friday morning around 8 am, I received a call that the technician was on his way. The problem is that this is a rental house I own (not my residence), so I wasn't there. A second problem is that the first major snowstorm of the winter was happening at that point in time, and it was rush hour to boot. So it was a stressful drive to try to get to the house by the time the technician did (I barely made it). I would have preferred to be asked what a convenient time was before sending someone over, especially since I had stated that this wasn't an urgent problem. The technician himself was very cordial, and explained exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it (and how much it would cost). He isolated the problem to one drain line beneath the basement floor, and rooted it out. The drainage issue was relieved, but only temporarily. It plugged up again within a week; the technician came back, speculated on the cause of the re-occurrence (the explanation made sense). He said he would have someone from the office call me to set up an appt to discuss options from that point. The person came, explained the options of basically digging up the basement floor, for a high cost. I declined to do that. The tenants are OK with the situation, which is kept in check.

I was quoted a flat rate, which was very high, over $300, but after letting the tech know that it was too high and that I would rent the snake and have someone do it, he was able to "miraculously" cut the price in half (So don't accept the first price) it's the slow season for them now and you may be able to get a better price also. The tech was very courteous and professional, he did a good, clean job and was done in less than an hour.

Went great. The technician arrived within 20 minutes of my call for help. He was very professional and took care not to let my cat out. Did the estimate before proceeding and made sure to ask for my coupon *before* he did the invoice, which was super cool. The problem was fixed within less than a half-hour of arrival. It's a huge relief to have my sink draining properly. I am just so thrilled to get back to doing dishes again. It was a bit pricey, but hey, plumbers don't come cheap. They did show up almost immediately, which was amazing, and the stuff stuck in my drain -- old, rotted raw cat food -- was beyond nasty, I'm sure.

They were fantastic. They were the only ones who could have done this job as they had the proper equipment. They arrived very quickly and they knew exactly what the problem was. They also offered a six month guarantee for the job so if I have a problem in the next six months they will come and fix it for free. They were a little expensive but I understand why they were so expensive.
Description of Work: We had some plumbing issues and we used a retired plumber first to fix the job. However, when he could not fix it we called Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Drain Service to fix it. This happened during last October. They had to snake for hundreds of yards and it went all the way into the front yard as there were roots blocking the pipes.
