Roto-Rooter Plumbing & Water Cleanup

The original quote was given as $211 to install the faucet I had purchased, which was a lot, but the RR man wouldn't install the faucet until the sink was repaired by another contractor. (There was no interference between the sink and the faucet.) The agreement was made to return two days later. The sink was repaired (reattached to the granite)but the installer wanted it to set before re-connecting the drains and garbage disposal. The Roto Rooter guy appeared the next day, installed the faucet and re-connected the drain and garbage disposal, presenting a bill for $411, for less than an hour of labor, with a charge of a few dollars for shut off valves, which was part of the $211 faucet installation. I am completely appalled that, for the expense of 45 minutes of labor, I am charged at a rate of $548 per hour. My wife paid the bill by credit card, as I was at work, could not protest this outrageous charge. When contacted by Roto Rooter to review the work, I complained and asked to be called, but have not recceved any calls from them. I strongly urge anyone who needs plumbing services to avoid this outrageous rip-off company.

It appeared my downspout was clogged. Instead of the rain water going underground it was spilling onto my driveway. I tried to clear it outside with no success. I tried to clear it from the inside but when I loosened the sewer plug water started to come up. At that point I called Roto-Rooter. The girl on the phone was very polite and said someone was available now. Within 30 minutes James arrived. Within an hour the work was finished and the blockage was cleared. If needed I will DEFINITELY return to Roto-Rooter. They give free estimates too. The price of the work was also very reasonable.

Very well. They tried to save a bush that had to be dug up to install the line and did a nice job; unfortunately, despite constant watering, I think the bush has had it. But the water line works nicely and the washing machine and shower appear to have better water flow coming to them ;)

Way overpriced... he spent 10 mins and charged $150.

They did an excellent job. I was kind of surprised, I didn't know they did that kind of plumbing and stuff. I just thought they did underground plumbing. They were very good. I would absolutely use them again.

The plumber did a thorough job and got the drain working.

Mark and Tim did a superb job and stayed till the job was done.

They looked at it and told me what the problem was and said they did not have to tools to fix it. Charge me a full hour of service and literally did nothing.

Plumber did a thorough inspection and found source of leak. Did great job fixing everything. Very courteous and professional.

Everything went fine. They arrived on time, worked all day, leaving a couple of times for parts and left the area reasonably clean.

They came out two weeks ago. It was an emergency and they said that they would have someone here within the hour and half an hour later bingo, there he was! Wen your sewer is backed up from your house to the street you want them out. He checked the stuff that we had done in the house, as we were trying to trace where the problem was. He said we did a good job where we went. He said according to what we had done, the problem must be outside. We went outside and he opened a plug, there it was, right there filled, from the street to the house. It would have been a major disaster next. He got the rotor rooter thing out and opened it up and we were back in business. He said that we should flush it a few times while he watched. He was very personable and willing to explain what he was doing. He kept us informed and had a nice sense of humor. It cost around three hundred and fifty dollars. I give them 'A's overall.

The service went very well. It was very expensive, and I was shocked. I used them twice, one was for the main bath, and the other was for the bathroom in our bedroom. I also called another company, and they were going to charge more. They did the job, and they ran into problems with the way they wanted to enter the sewer lines, but they didn't charge me for that. They could have entered through the shower, but they had to remove the toilet and all that, but they charged me the cheaper rate. They cleaned up after themselves, and they made sure they didn't touch the walls and anything, and so they were very good. They responded within the same day, and showed up within half an hour. They were very considerate about walking through the house with dirty feet, so they put on their booties. They were very professional.

Tech did an excellent and professional job in a reasonable time frame. Although he gave me the price after reviewing the requirements, he finished the job sooner than he expected. The labor rate of $156.25/hr. was exorbitant ($625.00 for 4 hrs)for labor only. Overall the Tech did an excellent job.

I used a local company, but it was Roto- Rooter. Extremely expensive. They used rooter on kitchen drain. I live in a mobile home and the machine was heavy duty and it separated pipes under home which I later found out and had to pay to get that repaired. The employee offered to come back on his own time and do the other drains...not very professional.

ROTO-ROOTER CAME OUT LATE THAT NIGHT AND TOOK CARE OF THE ISSUE. THE SERVICE MAN WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND HELPFUL, HOWEVER I THOUGHT THE PRICE WAS HIGH CONSIDERING THE SCOPE OF WORK THAT WAS PERFORMED. WOULD USE THIS COMPANY IN THE FUTURE.

I have been using them for 25 years. They are reliable and they will come instantly when you're in trouble.

They snaked her sewer 2 times at a cost of over $700.00 then discovered that the pipe needed to be replace. Got an estimate and had work done on 1/3/2013. Workers were very good, but they discovered that the remaining sewer pipe needed to be replaced. That work was scheduled for spring. When it came time to do the second pipe that hooks into the main village line, they gave us an estimate of $2,540.00. When the work was done in May that is when the problems started. The job took 2 days instead of one because the village made Roto-Rooter stop and get the correct materials specified on the permit specs. Twice Roto-Rooter had to get new materials, because each time the materials were not up to the Honeoye Falls Village codes. Yet we were told by the village supervisor that they permit is very specific as to the type of material that must be used per their codes. Also, in the estimate they said they had to dig up the road and then would have to re-asphalt the road. Somehow the pipe connecting my daughter's house sewer to the main sewer was done without breaking up the road. They were suppose to rough grade her yard, but it took over a month and numerous phone calls to get them to come and they did a terrible job. She has photos of her yard and actually had to hire someone to come in and grade her yard at an additional cost. We asked for a refund for all the work that was not done. Such as the cost of the equipment to break up the road's asphalt, having a flagman to direct traffic while they were working in the road and the cost of the new asphalt. We were told there was no difference in cost, so we asked for a detailed listing for original estimate work and actual work completed. We were never given this. She went to Roto-Rooter and I called the company a number of times and they totally ignored our calls and visits. We took them to small claims court and won a judgment, but have been unable to collect because you need to know their bank account. which is impossible to find. We are now going to try a collection agency in the hopes of getting her money back. I would never use this company again and unfortunately they have other DBA's so you never know what company you are using. In the future I will get a detailed listing of work and cost upfront not just a total estimate. Also I will pay with a check because since the payment was placed on my credit card, my banks can not tell me a bank that the payment was made to which was very upsetting to me.

Our drain started backing up into the basement around midnight on Sunday at the start of the Christmas holiday with visiting family and friends staying with us. As promised within an hour (about how much time it takes to get here from Rochester) Jack arrived, went over with me what I was seeing, and went to work. Within a couple of hours I had a free running drain and a plastic bag half full of tree roots that the auger bit brought back to show the family. Jack is an experienced plumber and I wouldn't hesitate to use him for my other plumbing needs. He also left my bathroom cleaner then he found it - a definite plus! :-)

Jack came within an hour of my initial call on a Sunday afternoon and was able to fix the problem in 90 minutes. He also cleaned up afterwards and left the basement better than he found it. The service was a bit expensive for the amount of time he was there, but for a Sunday afternoon on-call visit within the hour I'm overall quite happy.

I want to share the very good experience I had with Home Depot and Roto-Rooter in the purchase and installation of my hot water heater. My old hot water heater began to leak so I began to research a replacement. I checking with consumer reports and compared the specifications of several brands. I decided that a GE with a 12 year warranty would be the best for my home. I went to Home Depot in Penfield and discuss this with Dan, a plumbing expert, and he confirmed that this water heater was the best they sell by far. Working with Keith, I was able to obtain a very competitive price. I also decided to have their installers, Roto-Rooter, deliver and install it. The next day, I received a call from Frank, the Roto-Rooter installer, to confirm that the water heater size and requirements would in fact fit my application. Soon after the call, he showed up with the water heater and assessed the installation. The new water heater was larger than my current unit so he explained what changes would have to be made. After taking the water tank out of the box he noticed that there was some damage to the top of the heater. He advised me that this probably wouldn?t affect the water heater performance or life but recommended that he call Home Depot and see if he could get some adjustment to the price as compensation for the damage. Jerry at Home Depot quickly agree to make an adjustment. On starting the install, we noticed that the water shut off valve to the hot water heater wasn't fully closing. Frank ask if I would like to replace it, and I agreed. Frank was very skilled and did an excellent job of installing the water heater. He did everything he needed to do and then some. The install went very smoothly. And he did all of this for the installation price that was quoted at Home Depot. And that included replacing the valve. Overall I would say, the purchase and installation of my hot water heater could not have gone better, start to finish.

They were supposed to be coming between 2:00pm - 4:00pm and called at 2:30pm saying they were just leaving Rodchester, which is about an hour and a half away. They still weren't here after 4:30pm. When I called and asked if they were on their way, they said they were, but after waiting so long I just told them forget it.
