Dave was very clear about cost and what to expect. Seven professionals showed up and made quick work of emptying the house, even as I was still packing and disconnecting electronics. They had an experienced truck packer who got everything into one truck. A young man disassembled and reassembled some furniture in the old and new houses with no problems. When the truck had engine problems they didn't charge me for that time. And they moved everything very cheerfully into a house with a lot of stairs and long treks to some of the rooms. They all were very nice and the move was completed in 5 hours! I enjoyed working with them.

Dave was great to deal with as our plans kept changing. the day of the move They showed up on time. 6 men. 5 were great. One of the lead guys was very odd and difficult to be around. Kept making bizarre comments. Tried to be funny, and even was ringing the doorbell during the move trying to get some sort of reaction. My wife and I both spoke with him separately After I spoke with him he went and sat in the truck for 20 minutes. They were unsure if we needed a second truck (we had a 24' truck). Waited an hour for the second 16' truck to arrive. When the move was completed the lead guy miscalculated the hours and tried to charge us $2800 for the move (we wound up paying $2200). He was double charging us for the travel time, also for their lunch break (we bought them lunch) and the time waiting for the second truck. When I logically and calmly tried to talk with him about it he got belligerent, raised his voice and stormed out. The second lead guy came in and apologized about the miscalculation and the other guy's behavior. Moving is stressful enough without dealing with all this. I would not use them again due to this which is to bad because the other guys were great and I tipped them well ($300).

I had good expectations because I had seen their impressive handling of a friend's very complicated move prior to mine. They arrived early, in spite of the long drive, with plenty of strong hands and an obviously talented and experienced truck packer. They worked tirelessly through the day and delivered the load well into the evening. Everything was smooth and my belongings were very well taken care of. I would absolutely recommend their services. That they are also reasonable is icing on the cake

Everything was done as expected. On time; no damage to furniture and placed it all where I needed it.

I called Dave 3 days ago for an estimate on the move. Dave answered the phone and said he was available to look at the articles and provide an estimate. Within hours of my call, Dave arrived and provided a quote. 2 days later, Dave was on the road moving my nephew. Dave left our home in Victor yesterday and arrived in North Carolina today. The move was flawless and my nephew is very happy... which means that I am very happy :) I highly recommend Dave and his team.

5 movers and the owner of the company showed up on time and all introduced themselves. I showed the main contact around the house and we discussed the plan for loading the truck. It took the guys 2 hours to pack everything up. They were all extremely professional and easy to talk to. They took a lunch break and met us at our new house an hour later. It took about 2 hours to unload the entire truck. They made sure to lay down protective cloths and did a great job putting our stuff in the right place. I would absolutely recommend these guys to anyone who needs a moving company.

Great! They actually arrived early (how often does that happen?) and the team of four, led by Tim, was polite and pleasant. They were more than willing to do whatever needed to be done, including dismantling a heavy table, moving it to my basement, and then reassembling it. They were careful with my furniture, and there was no damage.

Dave and his crew were very professional and arrived on time. Service time and cost was true to Dave's original estimate. Had them move a few extra items that were not on original estimate and they happily took care of it. Thanks!

The service provided by Rochester Moving and Storage was fantastic - from the estimate to the moving. The estimate was very clearly spelled out. The move was scheduled for six movers, but five were available. The estimate detailed the difference between five or six movers. The movers arrived on time and were a great group of guys! They were professional, courteous, and funny. They took great care of my items and worked hard. The estimate was spot on. Moving is stressful - Rochester Moving and Storage made it a smooth move! I will be hiring them to move my items from my storage facility in Buffalo!

see above. While it cost us more than expected...we had asked them to do more than we had originally planned. I will use them again to bring our furniture from storage to our new home when it is finished. Just a really nice moving crew to work with.

A team of 6 men and 1 giant moving truck came and moved everything - boxes, sectional sofa, TVs, bed, dressers, wall hangings, etc in about 2 hours. Every one of the guys introduced themselves to me (extra points for professionalism!) and they were all extremely friendly and personable. They took great care of all of my belongings, making sure to wrap my mirrors and glass shelving in protective coverings. I loved the fact that I could leave everything inside of my dressers. They also let me leave my clothes hanging in the closet and brought wardrobe hanging type things to just transfer my clothes from my old closet to my new closet. Very convenient. I also will admit I did a horrible job packing (almost all boxes were not even taped shut & let's just say I'm terrible at Tetris) and they were able to move everything without making fun of my packing skills too much ;) I would definitely hire them again.

I have used Dave Conkey and his company many times over the past decade. They are very prompt, hard working and cost effective. The Rochester Moving and Storage company moved all of my office equipment, supplies and files from my business to my home location. I needed a mover on very short notice to remove abandoned property from my rental to a storage facility. The company was able to schedule me just a few days after my call. The five-man crew came promptly and managed to remove everything (including a couple of ungainly furniture items) within the original two-hour estimate. No complaints.

Went extremely well. Guys (Timmy and Timmy) were fast, skillful, and professional. They inquired where each piece went instead of just dropping off pieces haphazardly. They also took the time to put my china cabinet together. Dave's estimate was accurate and his description of how the move would take place is exactly what happened. They did a great job!

This was a 3-part pickup move. Furniture and boxes were picked up from my mother's apartment, then the movers came to my house and picked up furniture plus a hard-bottomed inflatable boat and patio furniture and grill, then the movers went to a friend's house to pick up a patio set. The movers then proceeded down to Conesus Lake to deliver a moving truck full of furniture and boxes to my cottage. Everything went according to schedule so there was no waiting around for the movers.The items were packed and wrapped in moving pads in the moving truck, and upon arrival, the items were moved to the appropriate spots at my cottage because the movers asked where each piece was to be placed. I found that Dave, the owner, who provided the estimate, was "right on the money" plus his description of what was going to happen in the move was exact;y what took place. The moving team, surprisingly both named "Timmy", were friendly, knowledgeable, very professional, and highly skilled in performing their jobs. It was a pleasure doing business with Rochester Moving & Storage and I highly recommend them for moving services in the Livingston County - Conesus Lake area in addition to Rochester and vicinity.

This was an excellent experience, and I would definitely hire Dave and his company again (as well as recommend him to everyone I know). Dave was on time for the home estimate, arrival in Virginia, and drop off in Rochester. He was organized, professional and extremely personable, making me feel as if he really wanted to give us the best experience possible. He contacted me with any questions both before and during the move, ensuring that all was carefully considered and done perfectly. The items coming to Rochester included a number of good antiques, a flat screen TV, and several fairy large pictures. Everything arrived in perfect order, with no damage of any kind. The helpers at this end were very polite, professional, and made certain every item was placed exactly where designated. They worked quickly and efficiently, and seemed to enjoy what they were doing, as did Dave. It is rare to be as completely delighted with a company as I was and am with Rochester Moving.

I had a somewhat complex move and hired Rochester Moving & Storage for the actual move. What made the move complex was all that needed moving was not readily visible. We had a 2-story 1750 sqft house and a separate 10x20 storage unit (not affiliated with Rochester Moving & Storage) about 15 miles away that both needed to be moved to a new house. Virtually everything was packed by our family, so we did not use any of those services. However, there were loose items/wires (missed or couldn't be gotten to prior to moving) and the team packed those up as they went. In preparation of the move, I reached out to multiple local moving companies only 10 days prior to the move and three responded. All 3 quotes came in w/in a +/- 10% variance of each other with similar hourly expense for overages. What made me choose Dave & Co was that unlike the other companies, he solutioned the move with 6-7 people and multiple trucks (with an additional in reserve if needed), so the move could be done in less total hours (approx 67 hrs vs 12-14). The team showed up approximately 15 mins after initial estimate. While Dave & I filled out the actual move day paperwork, the team was taken around the house by my roommate and almost immediately started the actual move. All of the movers came in and introduced themselves and were very friendly. During the move, they laid down mats and brought pads, etc to protect all of the furniture as well as the house itself. The team took great care when carrying the furniture to not damage either house (new or old). One of the movers mostly was in the truck and directing traffic / arranging furniture/boxes/etc to otpimize space and efficiency of the move. The team was in good spirits during the move and friendly/polite throughout the process. Certain items more prone to damage (such as Flat Screen TVs/Monitors), they asked if we'd rather take in our car or if we needed them in the truck. We opted for the car (as we had room). After emptying the house, we went over to the storage unit and the team continued to load the 2nd truck. With some of the odd spacing/sizing of my items, the 2nd truck filled up quickly and there were a few items that just could not fit in the truck. The team worked to fit as many of the big items as possible, so I was left with smaller items, that I was able to go back and pick up with a friend and his pick-up. At first this was a little alarming because the move had left me brain dead, but after I had a minute to process this was a much better solution than them getting a third truck (at additional expense to me). Following the loading of both trucks, the team took a half hour lunch and we headed to the new house. They arrived and started unloading. I had tried to coordinate my boxes by room (color coded the tape on the boxes to associate with a room), which they said helped make unloading go quicker. Much of the first truck (from the house vs storage) actually had a room, so the movers kept running back and forth to all the rooms and colors. I stood around (but as out of the way as i could) and tried to direct where it needed to go. The second truck mostly went in the basement and the team set up a little bit of an assembly line with runners and then lines through the house to get it moved out of the truck and into the basement quickly. One of the items I had was an old school treadmill that was wide, HEAVY and didn't fold up. Given all that, it wouldn't fit down the stairs as was. The mover told me to take it apart would take more time and gave me an option to do it myself or have them do it. I elected to have them take it apart, which they did and they got it downstairs for me. When we finalized the bill, it was within the estimate provided and there was no issue / items to dispute/debate over. Both houses were neat with no damage. Everything that needed assembling was assembled and ready to use that night. Overall, I am very pleased with Rochester Moving & Storage and while I don't anticipate having to move again in the near future, but I would definitely use them again and highly recommend to any friends/family planning a move.

Dave and his team arrived on time and packed the truck in about 1.5 hours. They then moved us into a third story apartment. It was a difficult move because they needed to bring everything up by the elevator and it took quite a few trips, but they did a great job and finished in about 2.5 hours.

We were selling our family home so we contacted Dave in late January to set up a date to move our furniture from our home to an apartment on Saturday, February 22nd. I mentioned that my sister and her husband would be driving from Rhode Island to Rochester on February 15th to rent a truck to carry some furniture from our home back to Rhode Island. I asked Dave if he could help them pack the truck. He said not only could they do that, but they would be glad to pick up the truck for us and drive to our home on the morning of February 15th. Dave's team packed the truck in about a 1.5 hours and did a great job. They were professional, polite, and very careful. It sure made the move a lot easier.

Picked up safe from Gander Mountain and delivered it to my home. The men that did the work were very polite and did a professional job.

Excellent job! I could find no area to suggest improvements. 2 men Tim and Tim arrived not only promptly but a few minutes early and eager to get started. I'm redecorating 2 bedrooms and needed rooms completely empty. First they needed to move an amount of firewood from the garage to make room for the furniture. Then they began on each bedroom. Tim and Tim removed mirror from triple dresser and gently covered it to prevent breakage. Needed to tip triple dresser on it's side to get through doorways and ensured by asking if any breakables were in the drawers as I had not emptied them. They dis-assembled 2 queen size beds and also suggested not placing mattresses & box springs on garage floor to avoid any damage to the items. Again, blankets were used to gently place the mattresses and box springs on top of the triple dresser and other furniture to avoid contact with the concrete garage floor. 3 other very heavy pieces of furniture were moved to the basement. One very old floor model humidifier was moved to the curb at my request for trash pick up. The furniture moved way down to the basement was placed where I requested. The bedroom dressers in the garage were placed in a way to allow me easy access to them for access to clothing. The same was done with very heavy file cabinets. Tim and Tim had no problem with my supervising each step they took and also interjected suggestions such as not placing the mattresses and box springs on the concrete garage floor, covering the mirror with a blanket for padding etc. etc.. Both men were highly professional, strong, took pride in their work, courteous and timely. Actually I am unable to compose enough adjectives to describe the whole happy experience. The job was completed in 90 minutes with no accidents, scratches on antique furniture or marks on my cherry hardwood floors! I am so very very pleased with the whole experience that I have hired them to return Dec. 3rd to re-assemble the beds and move all furniture back into the rooms. I was not charged the use of a truck because the whole move was completely in-house and I even came in under budget! It certainly has been some time since I have been "UNDER BUDGET". What a great feeling to know and experience there are honest and professional and courteous movers in Rochester,NY! Rochester Moving and Storage will always be my movers of choice and I'm grateful to have found them on Angie's List.

Dave and his team showed up earlier than originally planned for (a big plus) to get the move started. There were *7* gentlemen doing the move with 2 trucks. Everyone introduced themselves and remembered my and my families' names the entire day. After a quick walk though to assess the house, the team began with the largest furniture (of which I have quite a bit) and were very careful and used plenty of padding, which they brought themselves. About halfway through packing, the team decided that they did indeed need a second truck and sent one of the guys to get it. Upon arriving at the house I stood in the foyer and simply directed the guys to the appropriate rooms, in part because I forgot to mark a number of the boxes. The guys were extremely pleasant and polite, occasionally inquiring about how I found the house, what I do, etc., but never stopping moving. They were great about placing things exactly where asked, including occasionally moving things a second time when I changed my mind. At the end of the move they hooked the washer and dryer back up after removing the washer and dryer that the previous owners had left behind. The *only* issue was that one of the hoses wasn't quite screwed down after they left, which I discovered when I turned the water back on; this really wasn't a big deal, it was pretty easy to miss and I was able to fix it quickly. All told the entire move took *less then 4 hours*. I was amazed at how quickly it all went considering the amount of belongings and furniture that moved. It had taken me 3 days to pack it all and another 3 days to unpack it all. Extremely professional crew, very efficient and careful, as polite and pleasant as you could want. The price (when you factor in the extra truck) actually came in a bit under the estimate. Worth every penny; I would definitely recommend their services.

The salesperson was certainly knowledgeable, but he was too heavy on talk and too little on listening. Some people would probably be OK with him, but I confess I really did not like him.
