I was very pleased with both Tim and Dave. They both were professional. Tim came to our home to look over our furniture and gave an estimate for cost, they were very fairly priced (I received other quotes too) and were timely. They arrived early to our destination in SC and even arranged for movers locally to unload so we did not have to find them ourselves. Very pleased with Rochester Moving, I would recommend to family and friends.

I contracted this company to move me to Virginia. The owner Dave Conkey unprofessional and rude. Tim Skrip who supervised the move was very unprofessional and rude. At one point when loading the truck he started yelling at me. In front of other employees. His behavior was disrespectful and embarrassing. Dave highly recommended hiring Ellen Keenan to do the packing. Dave said they do a great job and are trustworthy. Ellen and her friends did the worst job ever. While unpacking boxes many of the items were damaged or broken. A few items are missing. There also was no method to their packing. For instance, I couldn't find a sentimental glass lion that was a gift to my mother. My mother collects lions. They were all in a cabinet and packed together except the glass one. It was missing. For days I was very upset and frantic to find it. I finally found it. It was in another box with random items. The box was labeled Christmas. There are many examples I could share like this. As well as recommending not to hire Rochester Moving and Storage, I highly recommend you do not hire Ellen to do the packing for you. I have moved many times and everything went fine. This was a nightmare and complete disaster. DO NOT HIRE either of these companies to handle your move!!!

Professional and prompt service and they worked around all glitches that were not their fault.

The move went very smooth and very quickly .Would definitely recommend them.

I will not hire them or recommend them to anyone. They turned up with twice the number of people that I asked for a doubled the charge. I had a bed that needed assembling. I told them about this prior to to the move. The movers took the parts to my new place and then went out claiming to come back with equipment needed to fix the bed. They were suppose to get the stuff from the truck. Then when I went to check, they left without informing me and left the bed unassembled! I was the sole person present so I couldn't be in two places at one time.They took money with the agreement to make it charged me more. They basically lied, took my money and didn't do the job that they agreed to. They had booked more jobs for the day and was in hurry to get things done and get out. When I called the person in charge, he was extremely rude to me, trying to put the blame on me and hung up. He wanted to try to get more money from me to come back and fix the bed. I was dealing with these men alone as my husband was overseas and I am 34 weeks pregnant. They left me without a bed to sleep on. Very unprofessional and would not recommend them. No integrity what so ever.

Dave Conkey's team was very professional! They were able to accommodate our tight timetable. Great value!

The movers were highly professional and extremely careful when they moved and padded the furniture. They were polite and responsive as they placed the furniture in our new location. That day was the easiest part of our move.

It went great. We had lots of stuff and big heavy items like treadmill and other fitness things. All moves with care and speed. New house has white carpet and they quickly without being asked switched to an inside crew in their socks and an outside crew as to not track in snow and dirt. Awesome job.

These people were fantastic, they worked quickly it didn't stop for a minute. My husband and I would hire them again. We will also recommend them anyone who is in need of a mover.

The movers arrived on time and got right to work. They loaded quickly and were on their way to our new home. On arrival, they unloaded the truck and set up furniture as needed. They had a bit of difficulty with tight doorways, but got everything through. I found a few scratches on furniture and walls, but nothing major.

Dave showed up 30 minutes late for a consultation. He came into our home. We had asked him about purchasing extra insurance the day before and he couldn’t recall that conversation and got rude and recommended another mover and walked out. Way to stay in business in a small city go elsewhere ****buyer beware****

Great. They worked quickly and as a team. We were very concerned about floors and/or walls getting damaged as they moved the larger items but it didn't happen. We are very satisfied with this company.

When the movers came, they were polite, professional and warm. Dave was emotionally responsive to the situation; everyone felt very well cared for. We would use his services again in a heartbeat. Moving can be not only a logistical event but is often an emotional one. Dave can do both, very well!

I had a problem with one particular employee and it ruined the whole experience. It must not have been the first time since the other employee kept apologizing for his behavior and said he gets this way. It takes A LOT for someone to upset me and I was beside myself. Rarely do I ever get so annoyed I raise my voice and I did. I was livid. Then he told me he was the expert because he had been on the 3 weeks. Yes, 3 whole weeks and he was the lead guy? He was still learning and didn't know what he was doing AND had the worst customer relation skills. Bad choice by management to have someone so inexperienced and with poor customer relations to have him lead an assignment.

They really good.They were courteous, on time, professional, and did a great job. They had a great crew.

It went great. They went the extra mile, but I wish they hadn't. Dave personally came to go over the paperwork. Everyone introduced themselves to me. Three guys came even though two would have been ample. I also guess all three guys are assigned to the same truck all day. It was such a small job, I felt a little overwhelmed, but I totally understand since some people underestimate or add more things during the job.

We used Rochester Moving and Storage based on the good reviews here. We moved on a 95 degree day from a large home into a temporary condo, putting much of our belongings into the condo's basement for storage. Two months later we moved, the day after a bad snowstorm, into our permanent home. Both times we retained Rochester Moving and Storage so obviously we were very pleased with the work they performed. Dave, the owner, is a salt-of-the-earth, no-nonsense guy who is as honest at the day is long. I just knew I would be in good hands and I hoped it wouldn't be too unsettling to have a lot of strange men moving our stuff. It wasn't at all. The movers were polite, **extremely** hardworking, respectful, and professional. They were experienced and knew how to lift and maneuver heavy furniture without scratching walls or the furniture. True gentlemen. They were also kind and golly with my son, which was a nice bonus. I thought six or seven men would be too much but we had a really big job and I was glad to have them. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend RM&S to a friend or to use them again. I would recommend that you call to confirm arrival time if you are worried about it. They did arrive 15-20 minutes late, but I think that shows their experience -- most people could probably use a few extra minutes on the morning of a big move. (To offer context, I moved half a dozen times growing up, and a dozen times as an adult, including several interstate/intercontinental relocations. Companies that move interstate are not necessarily better; definitely not if your move is local.)

On Thursday October 20, six of your able moving crew picked up our furniture, many boxes, and sundry possessions in Ionia and moved them west to Chili- on a dreadfully rainy day. It was a busy, hectic and emotional time for us. Your crew was awesome!. We were frazzled but they were all professional, cheerful , polite, soft-spoken, considerate gentlemen and respectful of our belongings. We would certainly hire Rochester Moving again and highly recommend your services to anyone! Please convey our sincere Thank You for a job well done to Tim, Israel, Jordan, Jordan, Jabril, Chuck and Jeff. Thank you for taking such good care of us.

Terrible....3days before the move he told us he couldn't move us!! We ended up with Adamski moving and they did a really good job

When I asked for a ballpark figure, the gentleman told me "hundreds of dollars" and laughed. Then he hung up on me. Never calling them for anything again.

The owner Dave Conkey was quick to respond to our call requesting his service. He was recommended by our realtor. He visited our home and gave is an estimate of 4 movers taking 3 hours to do the job. We did not set an exact date because we were waiting for the buyer of our home to give us a closing date. I did receive that information the following day 6/19/16. I called Dave and asked him if he had any openings for a move on 6/28. He said yes and told me that his crew of 4 would arrive between 9:30 and 10am. On the 28th my husband and I had everything ready for the move. At 10:15 when no movers arrived, I called Dave. He said he did not have it in his book. He told me his crew of 5 could be at my house by 2pm. What could I say? We were ready so I said ok. They arrived at 3pm and quickly started to load the truck. We were moving a refrigerator with French doors. I told the crew manager that when the fridge was delivered the doors were off and the freezer drawer was out. He told me that's how they deliver them. The doors were not removed for the move. It was a tight fit through the front door. The latch for the screen door caused the fridge to become stuck which resulted in several scratches and a few dents. The crew manager was extremely upset and apologized. At this point I wanted to be finished moving and I thought the fridge would be in a location in the new house where the damage could not be seen. To make a long story a little shorter, the fridge could not fit in the planned location after much time was spent preparing the fridge ( removing the doors and freezer drawer). The other 4 crew members finished the rest of the move and waited. The move was finally finished and nothing was mentioned about the damage to the fridge. I let the crew manager know I wasn't satisfied. He reduced the price 150.00. There were a few mistakes I made. I should have asked to speak to Dave the owner at that time and I should not have signed the bill without describing the damage on the fridge. I did speak with the owner on two other occasions after the move. He felt that the 150.00 price reduction would cover the damage and told me he would get me a name of someone who could do the repair. This never happened. If it wasn't for the issue of the refrigerator this move would have gone as planned. The whole crew was great--even in the hot weather and after two other moves. If you use Rochester Moving and Storage: 1. Make sure you comfirm all the details with the owner the day before the move 2. Make sure the number of crew members that you agreed upon in the original estimate does not increase on the day of the move. It will cost you more. Your cost is calculated by number of movers times rate times number of hours

Never got back to us with estimate.

Contacted this company on Angie's List with two possible move days, a very detailed list of items I have in the house and storage unit that would need to be moved, distance travelled between stops, everything a mover could want to know to give me a detailed quote, I only really needed a rough estimate to get started and know if I wanted to talk more with this company. I got a very cookie-cutter response that they probably send to everyone that just said they would be happy to talk on the phone or stop by to give an estimate. I called a couple days later, still almost 6 weeks before my desired move date, left a voicemail asking for a quote and never heard back. I understand this is not how they handle everyone that calls them, but this was completely unprofessional.

Rochester Moving and Storage scheduled us in on short notice (about a week). 7 guys worked hard for about 3.5 hours to move a 3 bedroom house across town. Price came in on low-end of estimate, despite needing two loads, which was feasible for a move between nearby neighborhoods. They were friendly and careful with our things.
