+ -1 moremmunityIt took 6 weeks to get the windows, which was the timetable they gave us. The windows were installed using lead-safe procedures. They covered our furniture and vacuumed up and cleaned thoroughly afterward. The two installers were very personable and professional.
Description of Work: We purchased 2 picture windows at the showroom which were installed on 10/18. We went to them because they had installed a sliding glass door for us 30 years ago, and the experience was good, as was the quality. In addition ,after 20 years, the lock malfunctioned and they came and replaced it for us. I appreciate the fact that they are long-term members of the community so we can find them if we need service.

+ -1 more:See above. I cannot recommend this company at this time, October 28, 2012. Update: May, 2013. The doors--both exterior doors, and screen door--are installed, look beautiful, and are operating efficiently. The last door was finally installed the first week of November 2012, and on install day we were given a gift card for $100 and told that Rochester Colonial takes Angie's List reviews seriously! Ok, then. Still, I don't feel that I can upgrade the overall experience to a "C" so it remains a "D" with the appreciation that at least the job was completed and an attempt to make amends. Honestly, I'm unsure if we will buy from them again.
Description of Work: Having used Rochester Colonial in past years for window and door replacement (house built 1951, plus an addition: approx. $10k spent) we felt confident in contracting with them to replace two exterior doors and storn door. We visited the Lyell Avenue showroom May 12, 2012 and with the help of our sales person picked out suitable doors, worked out the mechanics (handle to handle, glass inserts, etc.), made the deposit, and discussed the time frame for installation. We left satisfied. The satisfaction ended then. Three phone calls--spread out over a week and a half, to us from RC-- cumulated in Gary writing a letter detailing the mechanics and door colors that we agreed to and were written on our order form, We waited until July 16, 2012 for the installation. The installation seem to go ok (I was home for the day) though there was only one technician and itt took approx. eight hours, during which time open doors allowed flies and other creatures into our house. Still excited, over having new beautiful doors, the final inspection came. One door frame was damaged, likely during manufacturing, one door frame was damaged by the installer, the storm door was hung on the wrong side, and most important to me, at the time, the storm door bottom sweep was hanging down. I was told "that will fix itself". Really? You think I'm that stupid? The technician called the installation office to report the issues, I paid a hefty portion of the remaining balance and was assured that "Rochester Colonial would fix the problem." It is now October 29, 2012 and we are still waiting for the storm door replacement.. We've been without one since September 22. I called the installation office Oct. 24th and left a terse message, thinking being nice doesn't get me anywhere with this company. The installation manager returned the call that day,, and I was told that "the part came on the truck this week--we will call you to set up a time." It is Sunday, Oct. 28th and no one called! Am I upset? You bet.. I do have to commend tha gentleman technician who installed the damaged exterior doors on Sept. 22nd (a Saturday). He was fast efficient, and very respectful--definitely a bright point in this ugly process.

+ -1 moreThey were wonderful. We saw a two thirds reduction in our utility bill. We have a couple of storm doors to get from them but I don't have a lot of cash on me at this time in summer because I’m a substitute teacher.
Description of Work: We had twenty three windows installed by Rochester Colonial Manufacturing Inc and they finished up the job in November 2010.

+ -1 moreThey did very well. They did leave some residue on some of the windows I tried to paint over. This left a defect in the finish on some of the moulding. I told them about this when they called to solicit more work but they did not offer to do anything about it. This left a sour note with me but other than that the job turned out well.

Description of Work: Installed new solid wood entryway door. They called a week ahead to let us know the door was finished and asked for a good date to install. Installers were punctual, neat, and cleaned up after they were through. Very professional and a real pleasure to work with. Will definitely use them again.

My only criticism of Rochester Colonial is that our salesman and the installation supervisor back at the office could have done a better job of communicating. We so advised our salesman.
Description of Work: Replaced 7 existing windows (home built in 1960) with 7 Marvin Infinity fiberglass replacements. Disposed of old windows.

+ -1 moreThe installer was both professional and patient in the cold weather as we decided the height at which we wanted the awnings installed. We have not had any problems with the awnings in the several months since. The awnings themselves are sturdy and designed better than our original ones: ex. they are more sloped so that snow can only accumulate so much before sliding off.
Description of Work: Rochester Colonial installed aluminum awnings above our two entrance doors. (After having our house sided, we wanted to replace the very old ones.)

+ -1 moreThey initially installed new windows and took the old ones away. They did a good job and we didn?t have any problems. They also cleaned up pretty well. There were a few things that they had to pick up, though. It looks really nice and doesn?t look weird or anything. I was not sure about how it would look because they had to cut the windows out, but they did a very good job. They were probably a little overpriced, but it was worth my piece of mind to know that it was being done right.

+ 0 moreI've used them three times over the past four years and I keep going back to them so I guess that says a lot. They are not the cheapest but their work and product are very good. They were not the cheapest. They were a little bit more than their competitors. I've had some of their windows and doors for eight or nine years. They provide top quality and that is why I go with them. They come on time as promised. From the salesmen to the installers they are knowledgeable and good guys.

+ -1 moreThey put in brand new vinyl double hung windows and a brand new door. They did an excellent job. They were a little bit more expensive, but they were very professional. Their workmanship was excellent and complete. The products are of very high quality. We were very happy with it. They did a very good job. They cleaned up after themselves. They finished the outside. They wrapped the windows. They took everything away. They did not charge us extra for trash removal. We had had another contractor do a similar job some time back and it was not a good experience. By contrast, these people were fantastic. They finished the job in a single day. We have used them again to install our front door and side door.

+ -1 moreThe windows are very nice and the installers were very nice and easy to work with. The windows that we got did not have the glass we ordered. They offered to replace all the sashes, but we didn't feel this was "very green" so we settled on a discount for the windows. When the warm weather hit, we attempted to put in the screens. Five out of the 10 screens did not fit. They sent someone to measure the necessary adjustments and a month later they returned with the new screens, but three out of five screens still did not fit. The grades reflect all three jobs they have completed for us.
Description of Work: We have had them do work several times. Most recent, they replaced 10 wood windows which required the entire window rebuilt.

+ -1 moreI believe the doors were installed properly and they looked nice however within one week the lock on the sliding glass door (my main entrance door) stopped working. The service man could not come out for two days so my home was unlocked for those two days. Now I have noticed that the sliding glass door is not air tight and cold air has been coming in. Again I called service and they came the next day. He caulked around the door. When he left air was still coming in. I have not called again yet as it is inconvenient for me to have to be here. I feel this is not a quality door.
Description of Work: I had a new sliding glass patio door and a new entry door on the garage installed.

+ -1 moreWe contacted Rochester Colonial about replacing an entry door to our house located in our garage. The salesperson arrived on schedule. Very nice guy and extremely professional, though we were a little surprised to see someone so formally dressed (we almost felt like we should have gotten dressed up as well). After the measurements were taken, he reviewed the options. First of all, we were blown away by how expensive doors are (that's no knock on Rochester Colonial). However, we were dismayed to find out that, according to him, we had to replace a wooden door with a metal door to meet fire codes. We also were disappointed with the range of faux wood options. I can't say if he was pressuring us, but we felt like we needed to make a decision on the spot and choose one of the doors and placed a deposit. The next day we had buyers remorse. After doing some calling around we found out that, for approximately the same price, we could in fact replace the door with another wooden one. We immediately called Rochester Colonial and they were very gracious, and gave us no problems about canceling our order. While we didn't end up doing business with them, they were very professional and seem to be selling a really great product -- just not one for us.

+ -1 moreThe windows are excellent and the installation was completed in just over one day. Mike, Matt, and Bill worked carefully and neatly and cleaned up after themselves. They would have finished in one day, but two trim pieces were late getting painted and hadn't dried. Bill returned with them at 8:30 the next day and was gone by 10:00. Three different helpers were along with the crew and new to the job, but the professionals did the work and clearly knew what they were doing.
Description of Work: Rochester Colonial replaced eight windows with new build Marvin Integrity fiberglass and wood double-hung units.
