Let me start by saying that the furnace in your house is the heart of the house. You cannot expect to replace it without there being issues, which we fully understood at the outset of this adventure. And I do mean "adventure" in the original sense of the word as a misbegotten journey filled with foibles. Our furnace decided to quit working somewhere over the night on a Saturday night, so we woke up on the first seasonably cool day to find it was 55 in our house. We called Betlam because we'd worked with them in the past. Another company tried to sell us a new furnace when they cleaned the current one. We thought they were trying to con us, but it now appears they were not. And Betlam told us at the time that no one could have said for certain when the furnace was going to go, and anyway they didn't see anything wrong. Little did we know, that was strike 1 against them. Betlam came out and attempted to fix the problem, but whereas the previous tech seemed to think there was nothing wrong with the system, this tech seemed to think there was no way to fix it now that it was damaged. And anyway, we were told, they couldn't really find parts for something this old. So the furnace would need to be replaced and away we went to try to find financing for nearly $8000 in new equipment. So our new furnace is state-of-the-art, no doubt about that. In fact, it's so state of the art that apparently, no one at Betlam actually knows enough about installing it that they can actually tell upon installing it that it's messed up and in need of a replacement part. I really don't want to get into all the ugly details of how this all came about, but I will say that one tech, upon seeing the Navien system installed in our basement said, "Oh. Navien. This aught to be interesting." Nearly a month later, after a replacement part from the manufacturer and Dave Betlam himself personally taking over the project and after having to get a little nasty with him at least once over the phone we finally have a system that seems to be running great. So, all's well that ends well, right? Except that now I don't have a lot of faith in our heating system and I'm watching it like a hawk. I've had to seek a written itemization of everything that went wrong with the system from Betlam (have not received it yet) so that future repairs can start with the conversation, "you guys installed this and had problems from the jump." Everybody at Betlam was very nice, very respectful and always seemed to know what they were talking about. The trouble is: its very clear after a month of dealing with them that they really just didn't. I said at the outset that this isn't an easy transitiion and there's no reason to think things would have gone better with someone else. But there's not a lot to suggest that things wouldn't have gone better with another company. So while I can give them points for professionalism and promptness - I actually have Dave's cell number - I can't possibly recommend their services to anyone.

It went well. They did an excellent job.

The call went very well. The sevice man came when expected and quickly and professionally serviced my furnace and A/C compressor. The price I paid, which included tax, was actually a special John Betlem happened to be running when I called..

The price felt very high at first, but we chose Betlem b/c the heat wave was really bad this summer, and we needed A/C soon. They moved very fast - gave an estimate and installed it in the same week. I am generally distrustful of places that have separate departments for sales and labor, but they did a reasonable job making sure that things were communicated. We had some trouble with vibrations in the wall next to where the unit was placed, and they came out immediately to take care of it. All of this made it worth the price for us. I trust them and would recommend them to others.

They had good customer service and was able to come out to my house sooner than what we expected. I thought the service charge was very high, but it was covered by the warranty. I would use this company in the future.

They were very professional and courteous. They were dressed well. They had nice equipment. I focus in on that because I used to work in automotive and construction. They gave me immediate responses to my calls. They went well about the call of duty. The price was very competitive. I was very satisfied with them.

My experience has been good. They explain things to you. They are available and punctual. I trust them. I can’t say anything negative about them.

They are outstanding! They will come on the spur of the moment which is very handy. I use them all the time and would recommend them to anyone!

Their prices were not the highest, but not the lowest; you get what you pay for with this company. I was looking for a top of the line system, and they gave me top of the lines service! I am very pleased with everything with this company, the only thing was I feel that they could have been priced a little better. I was very pleased with the added value with the installation. The owner came down to the house and made some suggestions that now makes the system work a lot better than it could have. The installers did a top quality job! They are a very professional company!

I really like the people who work there and I like that I almost always get the same people come out to do the service. They always come when they say that they are coming. I like that they are open on the weekends and they will sometimes repair things on Sundays too. I have a contract with them because I am satisfied with their work.

The technicians were courteous and efficient. They performed the air duct cleaning as contracted. However, they failed to clean the blower. Also, they failed to turn the electricity back on. When our regular furnace company technician came to clean our furnace, approximately one month after the air duct cleaning, he noticed that the blower had not been cleaned within the last few years and certainly not the month before. We had to pay an additional fee to get the blower cleaned. When we contacted Betlem and asked for reimbursement for this additional fee, we were told that since the cleaning was free they could only issue a $25 credit. Please be careful in the future, apparently there is a distinction between ''included'' and ''free.''

My overall experience with John Betlem Heating & Cooling has been excellent. They installed my furnace for me and always do the maintenance with it and clean the air ducts around it. I would recommend them.
