DP Customs

I ordered the $199 for 8 hours of painting special on Angie's List. After speaking on the phone with Derrick, we decided on two painters for 4 hours for the work I needed done, and that they would arrive between 8-9 am. On the day of the scheduled service, I was called by Jason informing me that the van he was in was having trouble and he would arrive at 10, as he had to switch vehicles. Since I had to be at work, I called my father-in-law to come over and let him in. He said Jason arrived right at 10 (he was by himself since the other painter was sick), and was extremely professional and kind. When I got home, I saw what a great job he did. He did the entire ceiling in the kitchen and living room (to cover a patch from ice damming the previous winter), as well as crown molding and baseboard trim in the living room. I would definitely hire again, and would ask for Jason by name.

We haven't had anything done yet. I told them we would get back to them. They were very good. Their punctuality was very good. I think my husband would probably end up calling them back once we put the decision. I think they did well. He came out on time. He answered our calls. We were delayed a couple of times because of the emergency but he actually came right back. I think they did very well.

Went very well. Used leaf blowers to clean the gutters. Even though it was a nice day and they wanted to get to their next customer, they made sure I was 100% satisfied with all that they had done.

I felt like they were taking forever. One of the painters were taking their time to waist the time. There were two workers in one room, it was the smallest one, they were working, and then talking. It took them forever to get that room done, it should have only taken one person to do that small of a room. I called the guy and he was really nice. He told me to go in, split them up, send one downstairs and have the other one finish up that one room. I found out that he put paint on the doors, baseboard, and I thought he did it intentionally, there was paint in the middle of the door. It was a problem with that one guy, not the other guy. The price wasn't a problem. I did find some mistakes.

Nice guys. The work my roof required was not significant, so I didn't think this was much of a bargain. I was looking for the warm fuzzy you get when an expert tells you everything is good. I was left less than cozy. If your roof needs a lot of caulking or is not easily accessed, this is a good deal.

The provider was running late, but they did call. Then the provider left me with only one painter and I had paid for 2 painters. This required much back and forth negotiating to rectify the situation and I did have the same painter come back for a second day. This one painter complained of not feeling well the entire first day and I had to go and get a ladder for him to do my walls. He washed the brushes in my basement and splashed paint all over my washing machine. On the second day, he was here for 15 minutes and then spilled an entire can of paint on my rug. He walked across my hardwoods with paint on his socks. I had to go and buy a new can of paint and then had to negotiate to get the provider to pay for it. They did hire someone to clean my carpet. The paint is thin in places and the old color can be seen Through it and he touched up the paint he got on my ceiling with an obvious bright white paint. I would not hire these people.

Overall, the quality of the work was quite good. The painter that did the work was polite, professional, and there was no paint splatter anywhere. So, he was very neat and tidy. The only negative is that since we were covering a very light peach with a darker blue, the 2 coats that were applied seemed to be a bit light. We are only really noticing this issue after the paint had a few hours to dry. We bought 2 gallons of paint and he went through just about one, that the room should need about 1 1/2 gallons. The edges are neat and clean, especially since we had him do a chair rail in a blue a shade lighter than the walls I was quite pleased with this. I would use DP Painting again just advising to go heavier on the paint coats.

The service itself went well. They showed up on time and painted everything well. There was confusion as to the special that was offered and the final price. DP customs did clarify the price and I believe they gave me a very good deal, but the estimate they provided vs the amount they actually billed was different by $200. This was not a big deal for me, but accurately estimating the cost of a job is something that is very important for a contractor to be able to do well. The quality of the painting job was top notch. The colors they chose were fantastic (I asked for neutral - and they chose very nice neutral colors).

Everyone was nice, professional and cleaned up before they left. We have used this company over and over and they have been wonderful. They assessed the work and it was done within 2 weeks.

Painter did an excellent job. 2 coats of paint and had to paint around a few nuks and crannies. Painter was very friendly and professional. Gave us advise on accent colors and colors that would go good with adjacent rooms. He was a pleasure to have in the house that day. I submitted an review of excellence right after the job was done, but apparently, due to a glitch, it did not get recorded. Recommended both DP Customs and Angies List to friends, and I plan to hire them again in the near future. Thanks guys.

Made initial contact with Derick from DP Customs and explained that I had purchased the painter for a day promo and would like to have the exterior foundation of my home painted with masonry paint that I had already purchased. We discussed the work for about 5 - 10 minutes and agreed that he would call me back the day before they would start work. We did not set a date because the paint needs 2 days or so to set up before any rain so we agreed when we have a few nice days in a row we would schedule it. About a week later Derick called and asked if it would be OK if he sent someone over the next day to paint since we'd have 4 days in a row with sun and no rain in the forecast. We agreed on the date and I asked if it would be OK that I would be at work and not able to be on site while the work was being performed. Derick was fine with that and just asked that I left the paint outside where it was easily accessible. I stopped home during lunch to check on the painter and I met a kind man named Leonard who was working on my home. He was very polite and respectful and had about half of the foundation finished when I stopped by. It was already after 1 so I asked him if he thought he'd be able to do the rest of the work by the end of the day and he said he'd do his best. When I got home he had finished 3 of the 4 walls and was packing up a little after 5. The quality of his paint work was top notch, he left no mess and didn't over paint onto the siding, windows, or anything else. At first I thought hey why didn't he get it all done? Then I started painting the back myself, and wow was I surprised to find out just how hard it is to paint an old limestone foundation. It took me 3 afternoons to finish the work on the back wall probably 8 - 10 hours total and I have huge respect for Leonard for being able to do 3 walls in the time it took me to do 1. DP Customs did amazing work at a very fair price, worked extremely hard and were very professional and polite. These folks are great and I would recommend them and will likely use their services again in the future.

Derrick, the owner came over the day after I called him. He was courteous and reliable. He came over when he said he was going to. Once the work started he checked each evening to look at the work his employee had done.He was meticulous and careful to ensure we were happy and all work was done well. I did feel that the guy who did the compounding did not take care to cover floor appropriately on the first day. Thus much of the dust carried over into our other rooms. He did cover and clean up floor the next day though. I did look at some things I wish could have looked a little better. However I did not notice them until a few days later. I feel Derrick would have willingly come back to repair them but I did not call him. I need more work done in a different part of the house and I am confident when I call him again, and I will, that any job his company does will be a job well done.

I purchased the "painter for a day" special for $199. Upon completion of my purchase, there was excellent communication between the company, and myself. When I spoke with the owner Derrick, we agreed upon a date that worked for me, and agreed upon a 9 am start. Approximately 8:45, Derrick and Leonard showed up, we went over what I needed done, and Leonard started the work before 9 am. Leonard was great, he was polite, professional, and worked very hard to do the job the right way. He also was very personable. The bathroom came out perfect, we couldn't have been happier. I knew there wasn't going to be enough time to fully complete the porch in the time frame I had, but nevertheless Leonard started prepping the porch immediately after he was finished with the bathroom. Even though the agreed upon finish time was 5 pm, Leonard was just finishing a part of the porch that he wanted to complete before leaving, so he stayed and worked an extra 20 minutes just to complete the job. When Derrick came back to get Leonard, he even said that he would be willing to give us a 1/2 day special if we wanted them to complete the porch, although he got so much of it done, we were able to complete the rest of it ourselves. I am completely satisfied with Derrick and Leonard, and would not hesitate to hire them again when I need any sort of paint work done, they are excellent!

Derrick was punctual in all communications: answering initial call, coming out to give an estimate, and beginning the work. He suggested initially that the work (three fairly average sized rooms) would take a little more than a day, but instead it took the better part of four days. Our kitchen ceiling had some difficult issues, and his guy did an excellent job with it (it only took him about 3 hours). An overall observation: I was asked by the workers if I had things they could use, such as: roller, roller handle, paint scraper, bucket for mixing joint compound. I had to run out to Sherwin Williams on 3-4 occasions to retrieve additional supplies because the workers at my house did not have their own transportation. I also had to serve as a liaison between Derrick and his crew because they apparently did not have phones. I did not see these issues as extremely problematic, but some might find the overall lack of organization, preparation and professionalism troubling. As far as the pricing goes, I was okay with it, but as you can see from the dimensions of the rooms, it was a far cry from the "$289 for 3 rooms" offered on the site. We had some issues reconciling the total amount due at the end, and I will say that Derrick showed some flexibility when I questioned some additional charges (e.g. an extra $50 for priming the dining room). On the plus side, I am happy with the finished product, and I did find Derrick to be conscientious about the quality of the work. He even required an extra coat to be put on the bedroom when he detected a faint color disparity between the walls and the edging. Another area that was lacking was the clean up. Plenty of paint spots/flakes on the floor of all rooms. We had to spend a good hour cleaning up ourselves. Also left behind some empty paint buckets in my kitchen which seemed unnecessary.

I hired DP Customs as part of Angie's list deals: "3 Rooms of Interior Painting". It was very easy to contact DP Customs and I found Derrick (the owner) very responsive. I told him that I had only 2 rooms, but would like the 2 trims and 1 ceiling as well. Derrick was very flexible - we looked at the work together and talked about the cost of the additional work - which was very reasonable. Derrick also provided me with his account code for a Sherwin-Williams store, which resulted in a significant discount for paint (more than the 4th of July sale). The painter (who did the actual work) was punctual, professional, polite, and just very pleasant to be around. He did an awesome job and especially our sunroom is really wonderful now. At the end Derrick came back and inspected the work and corrected any issues he found. I would highly recommend DP Customs and I would use them again.

They were here early, set up and began the work. I did notice what I thought were too many breaks and also they packed up early waiting to be picked up. They cleaned up everything and were pleasant. they worked hard. When I told the contractor about packing up early etc. he sent someone over the next day to do more work. The contractor was professional and stood by the work.

They did a wonderful job. Was neat and cleanup any disruption. Was courteous and would be happy to use them again. I actually am looking at my dining room and will probably call them back.

Showed up on time with all required equipment and positive attitude. Did the job well, on time. No complains, would use his services again.

It was good. They showed up on time. The quality of the work was high and the workers were professional. They just got right to work.

Very professional in the beginning. Came twice to inspect and gave me an estimate. Deal was $99.00 for $200.00 worth of drywall. He gave an estimate of an additional $250.00. This would mean that a small job cost was $450.00. The job was not worth an additional $250.00. I never got $200.00 worth of service and the job was never finished. In all fairness, I had to cancel the second visit because the tenant got the flu and the tenant wants me to be present during the time the work is being done. When I called to reschedule, he never returned my call. With this type of service, you are almost stuck using someone by paying up front for over priced work. Ms. Crawford

This was just fine! The deal was for just the walls, so the trim and the ceiling were not included. I did pay them additional money to do the ceiling. They completed the 10X12 room in less than 4 hours. The pricing was very fair so I’m very satisfied with the deal. They were very professional!
