+ -1 moreFrom the time I met the guy in the Home Depot store to the time Ben walked out my door, AirQuip was very professional and did an awesome job. Both employees were very engaging and knowledgeable about the industry (I ask a lot of questions). Ben, the technician that came out, was very knowledgeable and did not seem to mind that I was looking over his shoulder asking a lot of questions about what he was doing. I appreciate that he was willing to answer my questions and was very polite and professional. THANKS BEN ---- AWESome job!!!! I would recommend Ben and AirQuip for this type of service.
Description of Work: I was in Home Depot store about a month or so ago (Sept/Oct 2012) and there was a guy set up in the front offering a home winter tune up special for $89 for residential customers. I knew that I really needed this done and figured that I had paid that price years ago so it was worth the money. I did not sign up for an appointment that day but took a card from the gentlemen there. I do not know what I did with the card but I think his name was David Hucthington. It's been wet and rainy in the area and winter is approaching so I called the number. The women told me that they were scheduling for the 3rd week of November. I asked if they hand anything else because I wanted to get it over with. This was on Monday 11/5 and the woman check the schedule and told me someone could come on Wednesday 11/7. I accepted. I was told between 12pm and 4pm someone would be calling me. Well around 12:20pm I got a call that the technician would be out to my home as soon as he finished his lunch. Within 30 minutes there was a knock and the technician was there. Ben, was very professional, did a wonderful job of cleaning up and inspecting my system. I was unaware that I had an issue with my system as I had not turned it on for the season yet. Ben found what there was a bird which had come into my system and cleared it out and got my system up and running like new. He was in and out in about an hour or so.

+ -1 moreAirQuip was very professional and thorough from start to finish. They are highly knowledgeable about their field, install a high quality (Trane) product, and do not cut corners. They sent three or four technicians, worked quickly and efficiently, and left the work area spotless. When they discovered that one of the cold air returns was insufficient inside one of the apartments, they retrofitted it with a larger opening at no extra charge.
Description of Work: Installed two 95% efficient gas furnaces and programmable thermostats, expanded cold air return.

+ -1 moreIt all comes down to ownership. The owner of this company, Mark Hoffman, will not stand behind his work. They charge premium prices, but do not deliver the product or services as specified. RARES does not encourage any of its members to utilize the repair or installation services of Energy-Wise/AirQuip. This is not a reputable company. Mr. Hoffman has hired legal counsel to try and have the RARES Association remove this posting and the information we present to our membership from the RARES web site. We believe our members have right to know that this is not a company they should do business with. We will continue to post this notice and to let our members and others know about the practices of Energy-Wise and/or AirQuip until they stand by their products and service. Would you want to deal with a company where instead of standing behind their work, they threatened you with legal action when you complained about their services? Please note that RARES is an association of over 300 businesses in upstate NY, over 220 of them in the Monroe County area where AirQuip/Energy-Wise operates. The association also represents over 300,000 employees at these companies. The association strongly encourages consumers not to deal with Energy-Wise Heating and Cooling. We also encourage you to review the comments on the Better Business Bureau site and Angie's List.
Description of Work: Mr. Hoffman’s company, Energy-Wise and/or AirQuip did work at 395 Garnsey Road which is the offices of the RARES Association beginning in 2008. Mr. Hoffman’s company, as he is well aware, did not do the installation properly and due to measurement errors, installed a cooling system at a cost of $12,000+. The company spent over 6 weeks installing a Unico ductless cooling system with heat pump. Several different installers were present on the job. Thye following year, when temperatures reached above 85 degrees, it was found taht the system would not cool the premises. Mr. Hoffman’s company was contacted on numerous occasions and made many service calls (over one dozen) to try and “rectify” the problem. Never once did the company acknowledge that the system that was installed was too small for the area to be cooled. Mr. Hoffman did not return calls or correspondence made to him by myself or the general building contractor, Mr. Keith Nally regarding problems with the installation after the unit failed to cool in subsequent seasons pursuant to its full installation. Mr. Hoffman also prevented his personnel, namely Mark Cole who originally measured and sized the unit, from speaking on record with either Mr. Nally or the association's CEO. We subsequently had two other companies conduct heat load assessment and also had representatives from the Unico company that manufactured the unit that Mr. Hoffman’s company installed conduct load assessment as well. Unico had their representative here on three separate occasions and for considerable lengths of time. Representatives from Mr. Hoffman’s company were asked to participate but did not attend. We have the documentation on those calculations as well as the documents from a second calculation from Airquip which show their calculations (and errors). We have statements from the Unico representative that his company would never have installed a system of this size as it is not capable of cooling the area in question. Subsequently, a second system was installed at significant expense by another HVAC company to compensate for the failures of Mr. Hoffman’s company‘s initial installation.

+ -1 moreI was happy with them, they were very good. It was not an easy job but they got it done. They are personable and clean. They put down matting so they wouldn't get the rug dirty. The head of the company was very cordial and honest with the amount he quoted for the job.

The technician really dug deep to find out what was wrong, made some phone calls, talked to the factory to find out what was the likely cause of the problem. They ordered parts, installed them, and it was fixed. I was pretty happy.

+ -1 moreWhen I purchased my home last Fall I noticed that the furnace hadn't been cleaned in many years. I gave Airquip a call and they arrived in a timely manner. The technician offered a reasonably priced maintenance program that covered both my furnace and air conditioner and it actually included that day's cleaning as well. When it was time to clean the air conditioner this Spring the technician found a problem. Because the cleaning agreement provides a service discount the extra charge was minimal. Everyone I encountered at Airquip was friendly and professional. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.
Description of Work: In the Fall the technician cleaned my furnace , replaced my filter, and repaired my water tube for the humidifier. In the Spring he cleaned the furnace and air conditioner. He also replaced some wiring that was chewed through.

+ -1 moreI am very happy with them. I had interviewed some of the top heating and air conditioning contractors in Rochester. I noticed that all of them with one exception came driving Buicks and Chevys and had gold chains on. They didn't really seem to have a good grasp of some questions that I asked. When I called Airquip the owner of the company came dressed in a uniform in a service truck. He had all the answers and I gave him the business. Their prices were very competitive for the same equipment. I contracted with them for cleanings.
Description of Work: I used Airquip Heating & Air Conditioning to replace my heating system in 2007. They were last here to do a cleaning.

Description of Work: I purchased my home in 2006, and needed to replace the furnace. I called three places to get estimates, and ask about their products. I decided to go with Energy-Wise who now service it annually. The service manager arrived on time, took a look at my dinosaur of a furnace and explained what I needed, why, how much it would cost, and how long it would take. They did the job in the time they estimated and left my basement corner neat. They hauled away the old unit. In 2010 I had them replace my hot water heater. They did a great job again!

+ 0 moreRandy from Airquip took the time to show us that where the dryer vent was going out was not the proper placement, so he spent all day building a new vent going around the basement to empty out in a better spot. He even fixed a leak we had in our air vents and told us about a problem we had with the humidifier in the furnace that didn't need to be fixed now, but later when it gets closer to winter. He also took the time to bolt down our gas pipe in the basement that could have easily been knocked and leaked. Randy was very professional, very smart and we will call him back for sure when we need more work done.
Description of Work: We had to get a new dryer vent installed and rerouted in our basement, furnace cleaning and dryer cleaning.

+ -1 moreWow! We had estimates from 4 companies, all of whom were well rated on Angies List. Airquip was the best on price by a long shot. Another company quoted me for the exact same unit $1500 more. In addition the communication, professionalism and quality of workmanship was exceptional! We have never been more pleased with a contractor. From the start, the owner, came to our home to talk with us and match us to the right system. I requested a Manual J analysis of our home (a bit time consuming - but consumer reports suggested it) and he did it without any problem. He was helpful and professional. The communication to set up the install day was well done. The day they came, they worked hard and did a real nice job installing our new heating system. They were friendly and left my house clean after there work. I actually had a small problem with it after install - turned out to be one bad wire, they came that night - 20 minutes after I called. Replaced all wires and fixed my system with a smile. We could not be happier. We got honest value, hard work, and a quality product. I would not hesitate to contact them again. I am glad to know they stand behind my product for 10 years with the parts and labor warranty. I sleep easy in my nice warm house thanks to Airquip.

+ 1 moreA few weeks ago Airquip replaced our heating system and we new from personal experience that they were trustworthy and professional. So, when we found a big pool of water around our 20 year old hot water heater, we new just who to call. I called at 8:15 AM, they were at my house before noon ready to install. Tim, who has been here before, is so friendly, professional, and hard working. He installed the new hot water heater, replacing many pipes too at no extra cost. He also connected our new dryer to the gas line and ran new sheet metal duct work to a new outside vent (at our request). His workmanship is excellent. I am thrilled with the quality of the work and so grateful for their responsiveness. I would most definitely recommend their work to anyone.

All of the companies that came out to give me estimates came out with business suits, wearing gold chains and driving Buicks. He gave me the best price of the lot and they ended up doing wonderful work. I like that he gave me a very clear estimation of what he was going to do and he carried through with it. The crew was very attentive. I have since signed up for a maintenance contract with them.

I have and will recommend them to others, The same one or two service persons provide inspection, assessment, adjustment, service twice annually (separate heating and ac visits). Five years ago two forced air gas fired furnaces and one air conditioning compressor-evaporator unit needed to be replaced. My objectives were to reduce total heating and air conditioning costs, to replace two units with a single unit, and to cool the whole house. I first researched brand names, technical positions, and manufacturers. I selected Trane equipment and researched local suppliers on the Trane website. I sought proposals from AirQuip suppliers and other well known suppliers of similar equipment in this area including my previous supplier. The AirQuip owner personally visited the home, proposed how to replace the two with one, primarily an air handling ducting issue, and submitted a proposal that provided a top quality, high efficiency, environmentally sound, and properly sized solution. Contacting several references confirmed quality performance. I was confident in my choice. I have been very comfortable with all the AirQuip personnel who have been in my home.
Description of Work: AirQuip provides annual heating and air conditioning maintenance service under a bi-annual contract ($150 + mainteance supplies) on a new system ($8,000) they installed about five years ago.
