"We aimed to redesign/repurpose the interior space for a small outbuilding on our property and stumbled upon BEAR Architects after a quick google search. Being a new business, they didn't have much in terms of reviews, however, they were very responsive so we went with our gut and gave them a chance. Thankfully our gut feeling steered us in the right direction. Beth and Andrew are incredible to deal with. We found them to be very composed, yet focused and aggressive in moving our project along. They paid close attention to the objectives we communicated. They listened to our ideas and steered us properly when their knowledge and expertise was required. They were efficient and completed our project within the scope of the timeline laid out in their proposal. Lastly, they were respectful of our budget and ensured that we received everything we needed for the amount we had earmarked for architectural work. In fact, we were provided with additional site plans that were not initially within the scope of the project. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute to use BEAR Architects. We will certainly work with them again!"

Our vision is to bring architecture to everyone. We want the renovations of our homes and businesses to be easy, personal, and accessible. Design should bring value while reflecting the complexity of our lives. As a new service from Bright Architecture, Sixthirty provides affordable, custom design packages that brings personal and professional architecture services to small residential and commercial renovations. The design packages are priced per room, per shop, per floor area and broken out into a menu of separate design phases. By using 3D BIM (Building Information Modeling) technology, proprietary internal design processes, focusing on the customer, and leveraging our industry experience, Sixthirty re-conceives architecture as an affordable catalog of professional services with design, documentation, and project assistance packages.
"We loved working with Holly and the team at SixThirty so much that we hugely increased the scope of our work. First we just wanted a bathroom and a kitchen updated but we loved the plans and the possibility they brought to our space so much that we got designs for every space. Any renovation becomes a drag, but working with Holly and the team was very satisfying and filled us with ideas for our new space. She and her colleagues, especially Michael and Amy, were great, even though we had a million questions and wanted to know "why" for every decision. I can't recommend this service enough, especially for the ability to try out design in a small space and then get addicted and want to do more!"

Allan was born in 1944 and grew up in the Forest Hills, Queens section of NY. He attended both Pratt Institute and Parsons School of Design and immediately became a furniture designer upon graduation, working for esteemed firms including Zimmerman Design and Philip Bruce Inc. Allan has long bought, renovated and resold properties for a handsome profit, relying on his design skills and expertise in space and layout, including three brownstones on NYC’s Upper West Side. In the 1970’s Allan was instrumental in designing and creating several stores for Pottery Barn, also creating a custom closet department for the chain – a first in the country! He has lived in Woodstock for over 20 years, building, renovating and designing homes for himself and for clients as well as working with real estate agents and brokers in his Interior Analysis service. Allan is also an accomplished artist, beginning in the 1960’s when he participated in the Art Students League in New York. His paintings have been shown in OK Harris and Jackendoff Bocce in SoHo, NY, as well as General Electric Headquarters, Manhattan College and The Woodstock Artists’ Association. Most interior designers have at least a four-year degree, if not an advanced degree in interior design. Additionally, many states require interior designers to be licensed. If your state does not require licensing, interior designers can take a licensing exam with the National Council of Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). Overall, licensing requirements vary from state to state, but most licenses require certain education levels and experience to qualify. To check the qualifications of your interior designer, use Angi’s state licensing tool.
The difference between an interior designer and an interior decorator is that the interior decorator focuses on the space’s colors, furniture, art, and finishes. An interior designer goes beyond that to plan and execute layouts, structural changes, and overall functionality in addition to aesthetics that the decorator manages. We recommend hiring an interior designer for major remodeling projects and hiring an interior decorator to establish or enhance your home’s interior style.
On average, hiring an interior designer costs about $8,200, ranging from $200 to $65,000, depending on where you live, the size of your home, and the type of decor. The total price tag of interior design services is based on whether they provide consultation and implementation as well as any specialty design services, such as home staging or digital design mock-ups. Residential interior designers typically charge an hourly rate of $50 to $200 per hour, or up to $500 per hour in areas with high demand.
Hiring an interior designer is often worth the investment, especially for larger projects beyond DIY interior design and project management skills. However, the decision to hire an interior designer depends on your budget and the size of the project. Some benefits of hiring an interior designer include:
Realizing the best layout and decor for optimal functionality of the space for your taste, budget, and lifestyle
Managing your project to keep the job on track and within budget
Assistance with home staging ahead of home sale
Serving as a point of contact for contractors
Accessing discounts from local suppliers
Before hiring an interior designer, ask a few questions to better understand how they work, what’s expected of you, and what they promise to deliver.
How long will the project take to complete?
What type of services do you offer?
Can you provide a project estimate?
Do you work with subcontractors?
Are you licensed or certified in this state?
Do you have a portfolio of previous work I can review?
May I contact your customer references?
How do you handle change orders?
How do you handle payment?
