Description of Work: Contract is expensive but oil prices are in line with others. I switched to Hoffman but the customer service was terrible. Robison customer service is much better. My tech had me up and running in no time versus Hoffman who took 1.5 hours and made no progress. Plus... Robison's folks are nice and knowledgeable. Happy overall.

Description of Work: Robison did a conversion from oil to gas heat in 2006. The work was extensive, including removal of an in ground oil tank and replacement of a chimney liner. Not included in the 17000 was the price of asbestos removal from the old furnace, which was an additional 2000 and was done by a company that specializes in this. We have had the furnace for 4 years and are happy with it. It is high quality and works well. 6 months after it was installed, a fan in it broke, but Robison replaced that under warranty. The issue I have with Robison is that the pipe work they did to connect the furnace to the chimney is poor. The furnace has a 7 inch pipe, but the chimney has an 8 inch pipe. Normally, an adapter piece would be used to connect the two and this would be screwed together. Instead, Robison stuck the 7 inch pipe inside the 8 inch pipe and used silver electrical tape to join them. No screws were used at all, which means there is a risk of gas leaking. In addition, mold grew around the bottom of the chimney in between the 7 inch and 8 inch pipes. This should never happen and indicates a moisture problem from condensation. Left uncheck, the pipes will rust. The cost for remedying this poor workmanship is 1200. This never should have been done this way, and the crazy part is that there was no obvious reason for jury-rigging the connection. Robison also failed to put in the correct size gas pipes to connect the house lines to the meter. After 4 years, this is still not fixed. Again, I have no idea why this was done incorrectly in the first place. It is an issue to work between Con Ed and Robison to get the problem corrected. No success yet, although I think Con Ed will take care of it.
