I have a service contract with them. I've had them for 25 years. They are a good company. They do level billing. They do a good job. They stand behind their work if there are any problems, they come back and take care of it. They are here 24 hours a day. If your furnace is out, they come and take care of it. They give you a two hour window, and for safety they send you a picture of the repair person. They text it to your phone, so you know exactly who is coming. Now a days, customer service is everything and they do a good job.

They had extremely poor service throughout the contract. I rent my home. I have 2 burners and a boiler in the basement. My landlord paid for the service contract and I paid for the oil. I had such a hard time getting these guys out here to service my burners. They needed to be cleaned to run efficiently. It seemed about every two weeks the burners would go out and I would have to have them come out again. On the phone they were not pleasant to deal with. I have a baby in the house so It was a serious issue to get the unit working properly. Then to top it all off, my contract ends September 12, and they come and fill my oil tank when I am not home 5 days before my contract was up. I had over half a tank of oil left and did not need them to refill it at this time. They ended up charging me an outrageous price to and would not negotiate anything lower. They call themselves the house that service built and I felt like their customer was definitely lacking in my situation.
Description of Work: I had a 1 yr contract with them for automatic delivery of oil and service for my burners.

Hi [Member name removed], Thank you for your review. I am disappointed that your experience was not a positive one. I reviewed your account and do see an above average amount of service calls to your landlords home. The equipment is in extremely poor condition and we recommended on several occasions that the system in need of replacement. The system has exceeded its life expectancy and many of the components as you pointed out are failing resulting in an interruption of services. My office reached out to your landlord regarding the state of the system and recommended that our representative present him with options for replacement. He declined an appointment at this time. Our technicians are seasoned and experienced mechanics who do the best in every situation that they can. However there are times, such as this when the equipment is beyond repair and the homeowner must make take the appropriate action in upgrading to avoid continued service interruptions. Thanks again and I wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving. Regards, Dave Fein VP Sales and Marketing

None of the air conditioners systems are working. They 've worked better during bad heat waves than they are right now. Furthermore, Robison refuses to give me a refund after being charged for three heating units instead of two on the heating contract I had with them. They keep promising to send a check but it never comes. And they now tell me that the only way they will offer a heating contract is if you buy gas from them.
Description of Work: Checked in the three air conditioning systems. Changed the filters but I had to supply the filters.

Hi [Member Name Removed], As you know, we were at you home on April 20th, 2015 for a tune up. Your air conditioning system was in need of added repairs. Our technician identified 4 supply ducts that were detached on your upper level. Furthermore he found 7 more supply ducts detached on your 1st floor. We provided an estimate quote the next day for this repair which you declined. I also see that you received a refund check as promised. If you would like to discuss anything further, please feel free to call me directly at 914-847-0210. Regards, Dave Fein VP Sales and Marketing

Unclear as they have yet to show up for their service call after 8 hours without heat. They are unresponsive, they continually lie about being on their way. I have to assume they either do not fully fix, or break other things as they leave since I have had to call them severe week with an issue since their yearly service call. It took them over a year to get me on a proper oil delivery schedule. I have had the worst experience ever with this company - if not for the fact their are no obvious alternatives to this company, I doubt they would still be in business. If you are going to have a monopoly try staffing your service with people who actually know what they do for a living. And the service guy had the audacity to hang up on me as I was annoyed since it's 11 pm and and we called at 3 to tell that the heater was smelling like smoke. Guess they were waiting for the house to burn down and the for fire department to have to deal with us instead. And the issue this time - the fact that they did not deliver oil on time.
Description of Work: This will be the fifth visit over this winter to fix the heater. I can only assume they have an inability to fix any issue as I switched to their service at the end of the season last year and never had the amount of issues since using their service.

We are still waiting for them to come and reboot the boiler. they expect you to wait in a freezing environment all day and can't even give a time window. their technicians are supposed to call 30mn prior to coming , most of the time they they don't and you have to drop whatever you do to run and meet them. Their customer service agent are surely well trained to give empty information, perfect lip service.. After you hang up , you don't know much more than when you started. Twice we waited all day and decided to cancel because the house was too cold to stay in. The sales agent agreed that they made a mistake and other than being apologetic and promising some form of compensation, he didn't have much to offer as a solution. A service oriented company provides good service in the hight of their season, not when things slow down. Frankly our experience with Robison oil has been anything but a positive one.
Description of Work: We decided to use the same company the previous owners had , thinking they would know the property , tank etc.. what a mistake! This is the worst experience one can get from an oil supplier company. Twice this month, Robison Oil miscalculated the amount of oil, didn't deliver in a timely manner and we were left and are still with no heat and we are under contract.

I have now, finally, reached the end of my patience with Robison. We have been with them for many, many years, and for the most part I was willing to overlook the 2 or 3 times over the years that they let us run out of oil. However, between last winter and this one alone, we have run out 3 times. The last month or so, I have taken it upon myself to call them and let them know I need a delivery ASAP as the tank level was dangerously low. One time, I called on a Thursday, was given a Monday delivery, and then told on that Monday that they couldn't guarantee the truck would come. As it was fairly emergent on the Thursday, this was unacceptable. After perhaps 6 phone calls that day, the delivery finally came, but I had to bully my way through customer service to have this happen. After having to do their job for them (I was under the impression that usage was kept track of and as we are automated delivery customers AND paid upfront for 1400 gallons of oil back in August that Robison would be sure to know when to deliver so we didn't run out) we ran out of oil AGAIN this morning. I called at 5:45 am and was told a truck would be out. I called again at 8:30, 11:30, and 1:30. At 1:30 I was "let in on some information" that I shouldn't be annoyed, rather grateful that they were even delivering as it has been relatively impossible for Robison to even get the oil for deliveries due to the frozen rivers. Imagine how lucky I felt. The truck is just now pulling down my driveway at 3:30pm--the only bright spot, Mark the technician, who was kind enough to take pity on us and give us 10 gallons of oil because the truck still hadn't arrived when he got here. He started the system I am fed up, and do not appreciate the run around and general poor communication at that company. I have spent this whole winter afraid of when I might run out of oil--Robison has done the opposite of what their commercials say, I have no confidence whatsoever that I "have a friend in Robison".

The Robison business manager, Bill Snyder, explained in detail exactly what my options were. I had already researched a/c products, and he was able to discuss each one and compare fuctionality. He listened carefully to my concerns and requirements and helped me review each product available from Robison. The product I chose came with a significant rebate, but was time sensitive. Robison ensured that the installation woud meet the rebate requirements. They not only made the date, but arrived early on the installation date, as I had to be at an appointment early that morning. The installation crew did their job as had been described to me, and they did it in a clean and neat manner -- they left no tell tale trash or sign that contractors had been in the house. And my home is nice and cool!

You pay according to the contract that you have with them, we buy a certain amount of oil from them. The cost of the oil varies, but we pay about $200 for the service. They are a full service, so there are only 2 full service companies here, otherwise you have to buy the oil as you go, and you pay for other things. I am not going to use them again, because they are just too expensive. They hike up the price every year, and the only way to renegotiate it, is threaten to leave them.

Thank you for your review. It should be noted that our pricing is in direct correlation to the commodity markets. While it is true that the prices have been volatile we offer our customers several pricing options. It is really a "self" negotiation that our customers need to settle according to their own needs. We offer fixed pricing, cap pricing, market pricing, and our very popular pre-buy. While we never claim to be the "cheapest" company, we will always provide our customer with a "fair" arrangement based on the exchange of a full service company. Too many people place too much value on price now a days, and not enough on the value of things. We at Robison give our customers a dynamic balance providing them with savings and comfort.

I have a service contract with Robison Oil for my heating oil. Pros: They're responsive and quick to provide oil when you need, even same day within a few hours. (But who wouldn't when they're getting paid hundreds of dollars per fuel delivery!?) Cons: You need to know what you're signing before you sign and do your research, they'll try to sell you so much more than you need and make it seem like there are no other options. Not only did they do this when I signed up for my service contract but also when I asked for a proposal to convert my oil heating system to gas. The sales person for the fuel oil service was very pushy and left out information that you may not know to ask. I also used their plumbing division to change out 2 leaking faucets I had and take out a toilet and pedestal sink while my floors were refinished. That was frustrating. If you're a Robinson customer, they'll give you a 10% discount and charge you per hour rather than a flat fee. It's honestly 6 of 1 or a half dozen of another. They love to play with numbers. The first time the guys came around, they were really dirty. Greasy hand smudges on walls in the hallway, not even where they were working. The small rug i had in the basement was used to put dirty and greasy tools on and perhaps wipe their hands? Whatever they did caused it to be disgusting after they left. But I appreciated how they turned the rug over and folded it up after they made their mess to make it seem like they were keeping it away and clean. Also, even though one of the guys brought a tarp and laid it down near the toilet, he still put the dirty plunger on the hardwood floor in my kitchen, NOT on the tarp. Not that it would have mattered, as i'm sure the tarp was filthy on both sides. When they had to come back to reinstall the toilet and sink - again, pay by the hour which could be ok if they had 1 or 2 experienced plumbers. Not 1 plumber and 1 guy in training who kept having to go back to the truck to get the right tool after he kept bringing the wrong tool in. Then of course they didn't have the right part on their truck so they had to run to the store which added to their billable hours. When all was said and done I tried to ask for them to amend their price at least since I was being charged for someone else's training. The manager offered to take some money off but had to remove the 10% discount. It was really a joke. He also offered to give me some type of coupon for the next job they did. I'll never use their service again if I have another option. As soon as my contract is up, I'll also change my heating oil service too. Oh, and the second time around they were dirty too. I've just really never experienced workers like this before. They knew I was dependent on them and I felt they really milked me.

Oil deliveries were late causing me to run out of oil twice even after calling them 3 days in advance to let them know I was running very low in oil and they should deliver it soon. This is on top of the fact that I scheduled an furnace tune in October of 2013 for January 2014 and they cancelled in January and never rescheduled it. Now today 3/10/14, I called for service since my furnace stopped. I called at 6am to get help and it is now 10:30 am and I still have no heat. They are completely unreliable and I don't care how that their prices are good because their service just plain sucks.,

I have been a cuustomer for 6 years. I am set up for automatic oil deliveries. In that time my oil tank never dropped below 1/3 full, typically being filled when it reached 1/2 full. On Wednesday, January when my oil tank reached 1/4 full, and given the 0 degree temperatures, I went online to robisonoil.com and put in a request for an oil delivery. Next day, Thursday January 23rd, I called Robison to check status of my request. I was told by Shirely that they had no record of my request. I then told her that I needed a delivery asap and after putting me on hold for a few minutes she came back and told me I was scheduled for that day. Next day, Friday January 24th. No oil delivery. I call Robison again and speak with Juanita who tells me she is a supervisor. I asked her why I was lied to by Shirley. Juanita replies that no delivery was made to my residence as I had 1/4 tank and there were other people with no oil. I asked her why Shirley told me otherwise and she had no meaningful response. I then asked if there were issues with Robinson that left customers with no oil. Again I got no meaningful response. I asked to speak directly with owner David Singer and I was transferred to his assistant, Shannon. I repeated the situation to Shannon and she told me she would call me back within 10 minutes. 5 minutes later she calls to tell me the delivery truck will be at my home in 7 minutes (which it was). Of course one can infer what one wants to, but it does seem strange that the truck just happened to be coming to my house 7 minutes after I contacted David SInger's assistant. When the temperature hovers around zero, I cannot think of many things more important for a homeowner then heat. The fact that my automatic delivery did not take place, that my online request for delivery never was received, and that the first customer representative I spoke with promised me a delivery that never took place, does not give me a warm feeling (no pun intended) regarding my future business with this company. Update, February 12, 2014. I went on to Robison's web site (www.robisonoil.com) to make a service appointment. First I tried to schedule an appointment for service on my water heater as it has been over a year since they last serviced it. Couldn't do that since only my furnace was listed (I pay for a service contract for both). So I sent a message through the web site. Never heard back. So just now I return to the site to see if I can schedule service for my furnace. I selected a date of May 28, afternoon, and when I selected confirm I got a mostly blank screen with the words and quot;bad_valueand quot; on the top. Nothing more I can say.

Hi [remove member name] Thank you for taking time to speak with me this morning. I truly appreciate your feedback and have taken the necessary steps to correct the issues you presented. I am glad that we were able to deliver your oil. Looking back, the weather on that day was snowing and the roads did present hazardous conditions. However, as you know our driver navigated these conditions safely making sure that your tank remained full. Fortunately at no time were you ever without heat. We at Robison are very clear on our mission in providing comfort and care to the thousands of customers that we service. We work hard every day around the clock to meet these needs. We had asked the oil company to stop automatic oil deliveries during the warm end of the fall season but asked them to supply oil if in their and quot;degree-daysand quot; calculation we were in danger of running out while we still owned the house. A cold-snap emergency required their prompt oil delivery and boiler restart when a real estate agent with a potential buyer reported the house was cold. (They had only two unspoken options: auto delivery to fill tank or and quot;will call, and quot; which we didn't understand.) Robison (and our agent with a key) came promptly, delivered 150 gallons of oil, restarted the boiler and stayed there until it was clear the heat was on and the circulator pump was heating the baseboards. The house was saved; that is, it didn't freeze, burst pipes, or flood, etc. Robison has been very helpful over the years with very good technicians making up for the occasional bad ones such as the tech that removed rusting and broken internal baffles from our boiler and hid them next to the wall, closed up the unit, and told us nothing. When I found them months later I realized we had been running at reduced efficiency all that time. A good one? The tech who diagnosed our seriously misbehaving and quot;Blue Angeland quot; burner after three separate and quot;no startand quot; service calls (all under svc contract) and replaced it at a discount with a more efficient burner that ran without problems for more than a decade afterwards, and may still be running for our home's new owners. We chose Robison after our small business oil company sold us an unusual very efficient boiler then a couple of years afterwards sold out to a much larger company (name omitted). Q: Do they understand our unusual system?? A: Of course; we talked to the service manager. No problem. .... Later, when the new company's technician arrived to clean and service our boiler, he looked at it and said (exact quote!) and quot; What the h*** is this? I ain't never seen one of them before!and quot; Robison, by contrast, knew what to do.

They should have not been in a generator business because they really didn't do any of the direct work. They basically contracted everything out and I had more troubles. The generator did not work and they couldn't interface with Generac very well to get the problem resolved, they were unresponsive, they were difficult to work with and I thought I was going to tear my hear out at the end of the project. It took almost over four months. There was poor coordination with the electrician who were excellent. This is all supposed to be taken cared by them, they were the general contractor for all of the services and they were horrible. I switch from another oil company to this company because the sales person was so good at selling me the generator that I thought is going to be seamless but ended up to be a nightmare. I would not recommend them unless they really got in their act together. The fact was that they got into this business and they didn't know what they were doing. The price wasn't cheap.
Description of Work: Robison Oil put in a generator for me. I am using them for my oil because I signed a contract with them and they've been okay. They did service the oil burner. It was very difficult to make an appointment but they were good, so far I haven't run out of oil.

Thank you for your feedback. Robison has been a proud business partner with Westchester homeowners for over 90 years. We pride ourselves on being able to provide our customers with prompt, reliable and competent service. I am disappointed to hear that your generator installation did not go smoothly. We have since made major changes in our processes and overall personnel involved in the installation of our stand by generators. The installation of a propane generator is a lengthy process as you know. We have now implemented an "on line" portal to promote visibility of the milestones and completion dates. In short, we clearly recognized our shortcomings with your project and made the necessary improvements. We do now have our "act together". Thank you once more for your valuable feedback. Sincerely, Dave Fein VP Sales and Marketing 914-847-0210
