It went perfectly well. They asked us what we wanted to have done, and gave us honest suggestions. We evaluated and everything they did came up wonderfully. We became the envy of the neighborhood. I thought their price was very reasonable and they were very professional. They were right on target with the start and end date of the project. He's very accessible, too - I can call him on his cell phone anytime. This summer he's coming back to do some sealing and patching. It's great. They're the type of company that you like to do business with and that I'd strongly recommend to anyone. I give them strong A+'s in every category.

About Oct. 14 of 2013, I hired ADL Construction to pave my driveway. This was executed by way of a contract. ADL was not able to get to my job until Sept. of this year (2014). I had to keep writing him letters and pressing him which I am still doing today. I will explain later in this email. At this point, I was hesitant about letting them start, because I know about concrete from my own construction business. I told ADL Construction that it was too late in the year, because when concrete (asphalt) gets cold, it hardens and doesn?t adhere. The owner, Reis Adelson, did not listen to our concerns. The company didn?t seem to care. ADL Construction reassured me that the time of year would not matter, and that he would guarantee his work for two years, so I should not worry. Contract documents reflect this guarantee that Reis promised. He took my money, and ordered concrete from a plant in lower Westchester County contrary to my advice by ordering the asphalt from a closer asphalt plant located in Bedford Hills (Upper Westchester). I also told him that he would need to use a ¼? aggregate or modified state top, rather than the 3/8? aggregate that he was suggesting to use, because of the driveway?s pitch. ADL Construction did not listen and ordered the 3/8? aggregate anyway. In fact, he did this twice. The first time he lost a full load because by the asphalt arrived, it hardened up! I also told him that he couldn?t use a roller on the steep part of the driveway, but instead, he would need to use a hand tamper and what do you know, do you think he listened? Of course not!! All of my advice ? based on a working knowledge of construction ? was flat out ignored!! So ADL applied the asphalt on this driveway, and shortly after, the driveway begins to crumble. The application and installation was not correct. I went back to ADL to tell him about the bad job, and at first I was ignored. He didn?t want to believe me. Eventually, ADL Construction comes back out to my driveway after numerous notices sent out by me. He only repaves a portion of the driveway (bottom half) and disregards the top half, stating that there?s ?nothing wrong with it.? I go back to the guy, and ask him if he is going to fix the top half. He says, ?the top half is fine? and won?t listen to any more of my calls or requests to fix the shoddy job. We have since sent him several "notices to cure " and he is unresponsive. If he doesn't respond soon, Reis will leave us no choice but to sue him if he doesn?t resolve the deficiencies in his work. Currently, this driveway is full of holes, and the job is the worst I?ve ever seen. ADL Construction may have the tools and equipment, but their work is crap. They shouldn?t be in business, especially when they are going to give their guarantee, which means absolutely nothing. This guy should not be in business, and now I?ve got to pay someone else to fix his shoddy work next year, unless you Reis, come to fix it. We are giving you one last chance. We will then go after him for damages and other costs. Beware of Reis and his crew. I would think twice about hiring ADL Construction, because they don?t follow through with their work and it is such a grind to get them to come back. If he finishes the job accordingly, we will think about amending this review. For now, he hasn't done a thing, and it's becoming passé and this whole ordeal is very tiring to deal with. We are aggravated about this whole situation, but remain hopeful that this will get resolved by his company...

Our Email below was never responded to. Re: Estimate from ADL Construction Daisy Jun 14, 2013 To ADL Construction Dear Jocelyne Maia - Could we add some additional information to the estimate? Your representative came to the house and measured the drive way. Could you please add the actual width and length of the driveway into the estimate show the actual square footage calculation. The estimate says 1200 sq feet. I would like the exact square footage that was measured before hand and reflected on the estimate. I would also like the calculation shown for any footage over the 1200 sq feet quoted at the price per square foot. For example, if the driveway is 1300 sq feet, I would like to see the 100 sq. foot overage to be calculated in advance so we know the overage charge per square foot. I want to know in the estimate the exact price of the driveway, so it is actually a contract rather than an estimate. Please explain how the crack filling charge is calculated? We have not been able to identify 120 cracks in the driveway so we need to be clear how this will be charged. Is the price $1.50 a "crack? with 120 identified or is it an estimate of 120 cracks per 1200 square feet? Is it 10% cracks per square foot? The approximate date of application is also needed in the contract as we do not want the work done too soon with the tree seeds and pollen dropping heavily on our driveway right now. Are arrangements made for a "rain date" if it rains that day knowing that water would interfere with the application process and the success of the finished driveway. Please clarify the method of payment. Checks or Credit Cards? Can our credit card number be given to someone in the office by phone rather than us writing it on the finished paper work? That would be our preferred method of payment. No service. Angie's list did refund the cost.

They did not present a businesslike attitude so I chose another company.

They came very quickly to give estimate. Estimate was off because square footage was not calculated property. Took some time to come to do the job. The job was satisfactory.

This was the most unprofessional job that I have ever had done!! It was a lot of money to lose but even worse the repairs made me live with the poor decision even longer!!

It came out good but it took them a long time for them to get out to do it. It took them 2 months to come out and do the job. The office manager was very good about apologizing that it took so long and giving an update on when they could do it. Since it took so long they didn’t even charge us for any of the additional space covered. They showed up on time.

ADL Construction never showed up to perform the work. I would call and they would tell me they would be there on a certain date, but they would never show up and not call. They then told me they confused my address with someone else's and wanted me to send them the Angie's List coupon, which I did. They said they straightened it out and they would be there soon to seal my drive way. They never showed up. After I called again they said they would be there on Saturday. They never showed up. I called and they said that the address they had was not the right one. I finally gave up. I purchased the coupon in May, and it's now October.

I got a response the same day I had inquired. They took measurements and gave me an estimate to my liking the same day after explaining exactly what they would do. They were very professional and were able to start work the same week, just three days after our first meeting. The whole job didn't even take 2 hours and it was a large driveway. The staff was very courteous and professional. They cleaned up after they left and tried to acomodate everyone who was inconvenienced with the construction including neighbors who had to get around their trucks. I would highly recommend ADL for all of their asphalt needs.

We expected it not to have any dips and grooves in it and it had dips and grooves in it.

It was an Angie's List Big Deal that I purchased. It took him a long time to get in but when he did, it looked really nice. They’re very neat.The work was good.

Reis, from ADL, responded within the day of my inquiry and met me at my place within 24 to give me an estimate. The estimate was consistent with others and I liked that he came right out to meet me. He was able to start within 2 weeks of the estimate, which I thought was pretty good given other jobs. On the day of the job, he showed up early and finished on time. His crew was professional and was very careful. The work was great and I was very happy with the small details. When they were done, they cleaned up quickly and completely. Reis and ADL were a pleasure to work with and I was very happy with the results. I'd recommend them.

The main issue was that the company had to find a three-day stretch that was not rainy nor too hot, so the job could dry before it got wet. There was about a two-month period until they could schedule the work and find the right weather. They did the job when I was not there, and if I had been there, I would have had them include a small section that was covered by debris as well. But the job looked good afterwards. Time will tell if it stretches the life of the asphalt much. The price was right at least.

The driveway sealeant went well. The reason why it took so long to perform the work is because of weather conditions. As we all know this has been a tough summer due to constant rain in certain parts of our regions. This resulted in several re scheduling. But I must say they continue to communicate with me regarding the delays. As a company they were quite diligent and showed a great deal of concerns for this situation and apologitic. I would highly recommend this company.

When they finally came, (rainy day problems) they came early enough to accommodate my wishes. The job seems to be well done and I have received many complements..

If you're looking for value for your money - look no further! I received 3 quotes and ADL was by far the best, in addition to being able to fit the work in a tight time frame. The driveway needed to be completely prepped (it was gravel before), relocate Belgium block stones that were sealed in concrete to widen the driveway, relocated a fence and paved the driveway all in the same day. Reis' crew is extremely efficient and I highly recommend him.

Bought the coupon in May, had difficulty scheduling the job and was not able to have it performed until mid-June. It rained less than 24 hours later, washing much of the sealant away. It took another 2 months to get them back to refinish the job, but I had to alter the schedule and pay attention to the weather forecast (something I think a conscientious service provider should do). Now that the job has been completed, the driveway looks able to withstand a couple years more weathering.

I purchased an Angie's List special for this service. ADL contacted me immediately (within hours) and checked our driveway for size and condition. The gentelman explained that they were evaluating all of those who had bought the special and I could expect them to complete the work within 2-3 weeks. That was in May. After the initial contact I received periodic email or voicemail messages informing me of delays due to weather, but was assured on several occasions that the work would be completed shortly. After numerous delays and lack of communication, the work was completed last week (third week of August). The driveway looks great and the job was done well. All communications with ADL were professional and courteous, but rather infrequent. It did not pose a hardship for me, however I did need to know when they would complete the work so I could make sure our car was out of the driveway. If they could be a little more proactive with communication and manage customer expectations (don't promise that the work will be done next week when the likelihood is it will not), they will be a great company. I would consider using them again.

Did a very good, professional job. They had to cancel a few times - first because of weather - clearly not their fault. Then just because. HOWEVER, when they got here, the owner was highly apologetic and gave me a very, very good discount on the additional services I needed (I have a big driveway). So, all in all, I was very pleased and would use them again. The B in punctuality is because, though they didn't come the previous week, when expected, when they arrived the following week on a rescheduled day, they arrived right on time. Also, the office help and the owner himself were unfailingly polite, which I greatly appreciate.

His crew cleaned up afterward. He advised turning the wheels only if the vehicle is moving in order not to damage the newly re-surfaced driveway. It was challenging to schedule the work to be performed because of the weather conditions. No fault of ADL but it was frustrating.

I needed a small repair to my retaining wall in addition to the driveway sealing and he said he would have the worksers fix it the day they came for the driveway. Scheduling was a littlechallenging due to the weather, (too hot, rain etc..) so you will need to be patient. The workers did a great job and were done in under 2 hours as my driveway is small.
