Spent $99 for a quote I could have gotten for free

Mr. Glinski and his workers of Glinski Tree and Landscaping came on time and cleared all the overgrown weeds and bushes from the front and back yards. I can now figure out how I want to landscape the yards. I will call Glinski Tree and Landscaping to perform the work.

Bernie is a very professional and amenable fellow. He was always prompt, communicative and, when I indicated that my thumb has not a hint green and that I had few ideas as to how to accomplish beautifying our front yard, he was gracious and communicative while at the same time accepting control and responsibility for the project with little input, which was our desired working relationship. That said, he "checked in" regularly, especially at crucial moments such as just after placement but prior to planting of bushes to ensure that expectations were being set and met well. His team was very professional, workmanly, and efficient over the course of two days of work. A job well done. He made great choices. Our place looks great! Note: a substantial portion of the cost attached to the job was materials (read: bushes). His labor rate is reasonable / comparable to his competition.

They came on time and did the work in an orderly fashion. They shaped the bushes very well and cleaned up very neatly. I was very satisfied. Bernie Glinski is a pleasant businessman.

They did a great job. All this work, to my surprise, was done in one day. They cleaned up the remaining debris. Their truck left a few ruts in the lawn but that was easy to patch up later. Highly recommended.

They came out to trim bushing and trees. After 2 hours around 20 minutes, the 3 workers started to clean up. I said something to the workers and the told me that they started to charge hours from the time they leave to get to the job. I said they hadn't work 8 hours, and they still had time to do some additional trimming on bushes that didn't get done. Mr Glinski then showed up and told me he didn't tell me I was going to get 2 hours and 40 minutes. Hey showed up at 7:40 am and didn't even start working until 8 pm.He quoted me $400 to do the last tree because it was over 15 feet. I am a reasonable person and he didn't seem to be interested in finishing the work. He then threaten to dump the debris that he didn't charge me. He said he would take the debris away for free, if I left a good review for him on Angie's List. I didn't respond, just walked away. I had to watch the works then entire time, they would be on there phones. Seemed like they wanted to get the work done as quickly as possible at my expense to move on to the next job.

We purchased the Landscaping deal on Angie's. Mr. Glinski (owner) showed up earlier than expected which was fine. We walked our property and explained what we wanted done. He brought a book with photos of the types of plants, flowers and shrubs he wanted to use in our yard. The entire walk-thru took about 30 min. The deal promised a cost estimate and conceptual drawing of the proposed landscaping. However, the cost estimate looked like it was drawn up in a matter of minutes and the actual drawing looked like something that was done with not much effort at all. I guess as the homeowner, our idea of a 'conceptual drawing' was something more like a 3D computer rendering (or detailed hand sketch with elevations) that gave us a sense of scale and perspective of the proposed plants being used and how they would measure up against our house. And the cost estimate was WAY out of our budget. Not exactly sure what the benefit of the Angie's List 'deal' is compared to just calling Mr. Glimsky, having him visit our home and provide an estimate. Waste of $100. Disappointing. Especially since the photos of their past work on their website look pretty nice.

It was okay. It was not what I expected but it was okay.

Perfect! Bernie, the owner, promptly came and replaced the shrub at no charge, no questions asked! He also gave me advice about how to keep it healthy. Very professional and prompt service during the initial installation last year, and with this replacement.

Like I said, I thought it would be a professional consultation on what I could do in the yard front and back..... I feel it was like pulling teeth to get any ideas, and I was surprised when we went from " around 1, 200.00 to over 2,000 dollars when I got the estimate in an email. Definitely did not use this vendor.

I called And they came a couple days later. They did a very good job. I will call them again if I need more tree work done

He came to my house first. I told him I wanted stumps removed, a Rose of Sharon removed and a dead arborvitae removed. He advertises stumps removed too. I also wanted them to trim some trees so I had a better view of the Hudson River from my deck. He told me it would be 8 hours. He said they started the time from the time they left the shop and it runs until they arrive back at the shop. He left and I called Angie's List and said that was not what I read in the ad and that I really did not like that. Several other companies were a lot less for four hours than $400. I am not sure how long it would take him to get to my house. Apparently Angie's List called him and he agreed not to do that. I was using the $1400 big deal purchase because I wanted to get three things done. When he came he told me I was in charge of the guys here and he left. The guys were working. At one point they disappeared and I guess they were having lunch. They were gone for about 45 minutes in the truck, I think. I did not like that because I was paying for that. He came back at the end and I told him I wanted the Rose of Sharon stump removed and he said I told him I wanted other things done and they were taking priority over this. He was kind of talking a little down to me and then they did take the stump out. they did leave one stump. We had, like, an hour to go and he started wanting them to pack up. I said they still owed me some time and he told me what he had previously told me. I felt like it wasn't that professional because he said he had spoken to Angie's List about this and that his time started and stopped as he already described. The workers were very good, by the way. He ended up spending another half hour there but he seemed rushed and I was not comfortable with that.

Bernie was great. Called me right away to schedule an appt and then sent me a detailed quote the following day.

It went better than expected. Bernie contacted me the same day I purchased the deal - and that was on a weekend. Great guy!! The tree was much larger than we even expected. once the limbs were off we were amazed. The crew was fantastic and started on a day when it was 20 degrees out! It was dangerous work and they were so careful about the surrounding trees and power lines. The deal we had for a day's work, but the tree ended up taking 2 to bring it down. So it ended up be about double of the deal - but worth every penny because we now do not have to worry about that huge tree coming down in the street or on our house. Highly recommend!!

Bottom line is that Glinski Tree and Landscaping did an excellent job. We purchased an Angie's List coupon from Glinski and it was our first time using such a coupon, and it was Bernie's first time offering a coupon. We found that we had to make our expectations clear, and that required some negotiation. Bernie was a gentleman and quite professional. We asked for some additional work that Bernie felt was beyond the scope of the coupon. But we agreed on a price and the job was completed perfectly.

They are professional tree guys, not a guy with a pick up truck and a saw. Excellent equipment including chipper, saws etc. On\ly issue I had was the "DEAL" terms. it's $1399 for 3 men for 8 hours plus $100 to cart/dump the the chips; but you are charged for their getting to the job, & breaks & lunch time--- I was on the job the entire day and gave the men coffee. So it really comes to 7 hrs max working hours on the job. The rest of the time is transportation, prep and close down. So to be upfront the supplier needs to either provide an 8 hr on the job day or state that the hours include transportation, set up, break down etc. And include the fact that there is a "dumping" fee. I am not new to this work or similar service companies policies. However, as stated above the job was well done and I would use them again.
