Shower doors and Window glass replacement

"I was so happy with the glass shelves Sal built in my windows that I had him cut a glass top for my coffee table base. It really looks spectacular and he came to my home to consult, measure and then drop off. He is extremely response, professional, reasonably priced and the quality is really impressive. Will definitely use him for mirrors and other similar upcoming projects."

D'Sapone was founded business in 2009. We are growing at a fast pace now with the upmost organization to make sure every franchise runs smooth. Now we are in 4 states and are looking for more locations.

"Deeply disappointing experience. We hired D’Sapone based on Internet reviews. We only later realized that these were fake - the same fake accounts that reviewed D’Sapone in New York wrote fake reviews of their work in other cities. When someone introduces themselves with a lie, they’re telling you who they are. D’Sapone arrived on time and presented professionally. They were pleasant to deal with, until we realized that they had done a terrible job. D’Dapone took a beautiful (albeit aged) marble countertop and ruined it. They accentuated unnoticeable scratches and imperfections. Long after they arrived, we found deep gouges in freshly painted walls in exactly and only the areas where D’Sapone had worked. D’Sapone’s restoration work on our marble floor was so superficial that it caused another more experienced stone contractor to laugh out loud. I don't know if I would call it a ripoff or a scam, but it is clear they only did superficial work. We just finished a top to bottom renovation of a classic Brooklyn loft. We worked with an army of contractors, and while they weren’t all perfect, all except D’Sapone took responsibility for their work. With two D'Sapone contractors standing in our family home, we kept our commitment to pay them in cash at the end of the day based on D'Sapone's promise that they would come back (at our expense!) to fix the work they had done. We never saw them again. I’m writing with the hope you won’t see D’Sapone either, and will learn from our mistake in hiring D'Sapone and instead find an honest, local, reputable contractor who doesn’t build their business with fake reviews, upselling, and a rented P.O. box. Don't be fooled by the embroidered polo shirts. Whenever a home renovation contractor, in their own words, offers "franchise" opportunities to people with no experience and claims they can be qualified to do expensive and highly-specialized work in your home with a few days training, keep looking. We currently operate with 2 full time employees, with the option for a few part timers we bring in as needed. We do sub contract out a few aspects of our jobs, but prefer to keep the work in house. We ask for half of the estimate up front to start the job with a signed contract, a quarter at the halfway mark and the final quarter payment upon completion with a signed completion statement..

Glass block services FAQs

Typically, glass block windows last about 15 to 30 years, slightly less than regular windows, which last 20 to 50 years. Resealing glass blocks can help extend the lifespan of this bathroom feature. The key to ensuring that glass block windows last as long as possible is to have a professional glass block installer place them. Glass block pros will have the skills, tools, and knowledge required to install these special features into any space, noting obstacles like damaged windows or too-cramped areas during the consultation.

Installing glass block windows has benefits and disadvantages, as with most materials. The pros and cons can vary depending on the type of glass block and the window location.

Pros

  • Maintains privacy while letting light into the bathroom

  • Energy efficient

  • Sealed to prevent drafts

  • Aesthetically pleasing

  • Strong and secure

Cons

  • Costly to install

  • Challenging installation

  • Challenging repair

Glass block installation can be relatively expensive due to the range of material costs and the labor time to assemble this type of specialty window. The process proceeds slowly as the glass does not absorb moisture from mortar and silicone caulk takes longer to harden, leaving spacers to hold up the structure until the caulk or mortar begins to cure. Plus, if your current windows have structural issues or damage, you’ll need to repair them before beginning the project, increasing your bottom line.

The average cost to install glass block windows is about $710, ranging from $460 to $1,000, depending on the size and design of the window, installation type, and location. Different styles of glass blocks also impact the cost:

  • Clear glass blocks: $10–$30 per block

  • Colored glass blocks: $25–$40 per block

  • Acrylic glass blocks: $15–$25 per block

  • Wavy glass blocks: $10–$30 per block

  • Alpha glass blocks: $15–$25 per block

  • Ice glass blocks: $20–$35 per block

  • Diamond glass blocks: $20–$75 per block

  • Frosted glass blocks: $30–$35 per block

Luckily, glass block windows need minimal maintenance. Other than regular cleaning, the only maintenance involved in having a glass block window is inspecting for cracks every year and applying sealer to the mortar joints if the blocks are set in masonry mortar. Glass block windows hold up well against wind and moisture better than traditional windows and are not prone to rot.
