Dandelion Geothermal is on a mission to make best-in-class geothermal heating and cooling technology affordable to homeowners. We also offer innovative financing options like low-interest fixed loans with $0 down and payments as small as $150/month. Homeowners who get Dandelion save 50% on average every year on their heating and cooling bills. Dandelion started at Google's X lab before launching as an independent company in New York City with operations across upstate New York.
In 2018, Dandelion was largest residential geothermal installer by volume in NY State.
Unit works as advertised, installation went smoothly, customer service is great..

All of the people that came to do the install were courteous, friendly, helpful, knowledgable as well as neat, clean and quick at doing their work. This includes the guys that dug the hole to the guys who dug the trenches to the guys who installed the equipment in the basement. At each step they explained what they were doing and answered all my questions. I would highly reccomend any and all.

Great company making the installation and financing of geothermal heating and cooling a breeze. The price point is lower then my monthly heating bill and I get central air out of the deal!

Great customer service. Installation was on time, professional and very high quality. Replaced both my propane furnace and my central air and I now save money monthly. Have had no problems with it in the 9 months of ownership. Extremely satisfied.

The Good: Where do I even begin? First off, we had recently purchased an old farmhouse after previously living in a city that had Natural Gas for heat. We were spoiled; the house was always toasty and we could walk around in shorts & a t-shirt in the dead of winter. All that changed once we bought our farmhouse. We were spending twice as much on fuel oil and that was with keeping the temperatures tolerable. We d bundle up inside, have to lay under blankets when enjoying a movie, and were generally uncomfortable but getting by while burning away our money in fuel oil expenses. To make matters worse, our fuel oil company forgot to fill our tank three different times in two years and we ran out, leaving the house on the brink of bursted pipes and frozen pets while we were at work. We needed a change! After some research, we stumbled across Dandelion and scheduled a consultation. We were happy to learn that they were also able to help us with other related projects we were wanting to do, such as upgrade our electrical panel and add dual-zone HVAC controls to regulate the second story separately, (and they helped us take advantage of grants & tax rebates that assisted in paying for all of that as well). What. A. Game. Changer. The house has been the most comfortable ever since we bought it, and the temperature is FAR more constant throughout the house. The less intense heat from the Geothermal pump means the system runs more often, but runs more efficiently, and so there are far less hot & cold spots. For us, the dual-zone has meant that we can finally be comfortable upstairs, not sweating, but also be comfortable downstairs, not freezing. The Bad: If you can t handle the bad with Dandelion, I m not sure you should do *ANY* home projects. The only bad I can think of currently is only expected of any new company, or even an established company dealing with a new product, (and while Geothermal has been around for a long time, their methods are essentially new). The only real complaints I have currently is that they haven t quite mastered the project timeline yet. They timeframe I was initially given wasn t accurate at all, and the days I was told certain things were happening, (like the inside work), seemed to only come from my sales rep and never made it to the team actually doing the site work. Which leads me to my only other complaint, which I really link to the first anyway; communication. Communication is something *a lot* of companies struggle, large, small & in between. Both external & internal communication at times certainly seems to be in need of some improvement, however, I ve dealt with a lot of new companies and new products, and I think with how young Dandelion is, this isn t even worth knocking any stars off for. I equate this to going to a new restaurant during their Grand Opening. The staff won t have things down 100%, and they won t be as fast or efficient as they will be a year later, but you don t grade them in comparison to established businesses. You grade them in comparison to other young establishments that are still ironing out the bugs, and I think Dandelion has it down *incredibly* well. What matters to me more than anything isn t how seamless the installation process is, but how the long term affects & memories are, and overall, the growing pains of the initial project are easily forgotten when I m sitting in my toasty house, more comfortable than ever, while spending *less* than I was before, *and* while being environmentally friendly. Spending less to get more is usually a pipe dream, where if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is, but somehow Dandelion appears to have made this a reality, and for that, they earn a full five stars. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐&#6...

We are very pleased with our new geothermal heating and cooling system, and we love the idea of being on our way to freedom from fossil fuels. 1. How long have we had our Dandelion system? It was installed in December 2018. 2. What did we heat and cool with prior to installation of the geothermal system (e.g., natural gas, propane, fuel oil, electric)? Propane forced hot air for heat; we did not have AC. 3. Is the geothermal unit able to meet our heating and cooling needs without a secondary source of heating or cooling? Yes. 4. What temperature do we typically have our building set to in the winter? Summer? This unit is installed in a building we use for public gatherings. (It is not our home.) We keep the temperature at 42 degrees in winter when we are not using it. But we can turn it up to 68 degrees or more for gatherings. It is an imperfectly insulated barn on a high open field with heavy exposure to the wind. The unit keeps up with that level of demand very well. And the unit will provide supplemental auxiliary resistance heat if we want to turn up the heat on short notice. In summer, we keep it at around 74 degrees (we do not like it very cold) and it also handles that demand very well. 5. Does it perform the way we expected? It does not heat the building as quickly from a low temperature as propane forced hot air does, but that is to be expected. We have to plan ahead a little and heat the building gradually to get the most efficient performance. The system can make use of auxiliary resistance heating, which we have mostly been able to avoid. 6. Are we able to heat to 72 in the dead of winter? Yes. 7. How is its reliability? We have a full year track record and it has been very reliable so far. We had a couple issues with programming the Nest thermostat, but customer service has been great about addressing them. 8. How was the process of purchasing it from quote to flipping the system on? We had some back and forth communications about scheduling work days, which were all positive, and our only real involvement was in showing the workers were to find things. They were very responsive to text messages and phone calls. We used a national consumer lender for financing, which has been very helpful. We got a nice credit on our income taxes, too. 9. Have we had any problems or maintenance issues with our geothermal system? The well driller (Derek Stewart) made an error in his routing of the water flow: he piped the two wells in series (one after the other), but he used smaller gauge pipe that was suited to a parallel configuration. That slowed down the efficiency of the unit, but the heat pump installers found the problem and Mr. Stewart reconfigured/remedied the problem. 10. Who performs maintenance on our geothermal system? The installers (Sun Dog Solar) have done some of it. Dandelion Energy has done some, and will be our contact in the future. We are enjoying the peace of mind of knowing they proactively monitor the performance of the system remotely. They call us if/when it needs an adjustment. 11. Were there any unforeseen costs associated with installation and operation of the system? No. 12. Is there anything we would do differently if we could do it all over again? No. We are very happy with this system and with the service we have had. We just installed an 8+ kW solar array to more than offset the electricity demand. Our average electricity bill in winter has been $157 per month for heating and it was $150 in the hottest month for air conditioning. It was almost nothing in the **shoulder months** of spring and fall. The new solar array will eliminate all those electricity costs going forward.

They were very prompt in following up during and after install. In fact, they took the initiative, not I.
