Response from WHITE GLOVE ELITE, INC
This testimonial is hugely important to me. Here's why: In the 90's I carried liability insurance for the cleaners. When it came to making my first claim ($1400 for a damaged carpet), our client had to schedule an appointment with me so that I could fill out my required insurance form. They had to schedule an appointment with an insurance adjuster. They had to fill out a lengthy form of their own. Then they had to wait more than 6 months for their remuneration and I, the business owner, was helpless in being able to relieve my (now ex-) client's frustration. My premium, which far exceeded my claim, was then quadrupled and had this claim not been so cut-and-dry, I am convinced the insurance company would have found a loophole and refused the claim. I have since chosen to forgo insurance and offer clients a "courtesy" of up to $5,000 and refer them to their homeowner's or renter's policy if they have concerns above that threshold (though no client has ever had to resort to their own policy). Most, if not all, of those policies cover damage caused by a housekeeper and it makes no sense to have my clients pay for insurance twice. This scenario affords me the ability to pay settlements to clients within thirty days and, in some cases, without the need for the client to fill out a single form or schedule a single home visit. As a licensed agency, White Glove Elite does bond all of it's cleaners in accordance with guidelines set forth by the Department of Consumer Affairs and that documentation has proved sufficient in meeting the requirements of the most strict building management companies in Manhattan. I do lose business because some people just want to hear those words; "Yes we are insured." But I would rather have a better service than a bigger service. Since I have a strict policy regarding my client's privacy, I do not give out contact info of clients who could verify that I have paid as much as $10,000 to make amends with clients in our most unfortunate situations. So I am most grateful that this member shared their most desirable result when the circumstances were less than desirable. Jimmy
