Description of Work: In all fairness, there was a hurricane in the midst of trying to set up an appt. I tried to reschedule and that is where it broke down - calls and e-mails were not returned. So there never was an appt scheduled. k

Description of Work: Walls painted with 2 coats each...trim and moulding, etc not included. He painted the walls rather quickly...in other words, he didn't take time to do a proper job... His cutting in was less than professional,I have paint on the ceiling in some areas...plus he played his music rather loudly. I could have done a better job myself.

Description of Work: There was a special for approximately $150 to have a tub refinished. It took months for the contractor to contact me. When he did it took months for him to set up an appointment. When he arrived he said the job would cost considerably more if I wanted the best for my tub. I accepted this but would have liked to have heard about this on the phone prior to his arrival so I could check it out. The job was very good. It took months to receive the warranty for the job and many e-mails on my part. However when I cced Angies I got a response from him.

Description of Work: I had my bathtub reglazed by Handymen of NY. My Bathtub is now peeling in several places & looks horrible. I contacted the company & they were courteous but their response came as an email reply saying that they did not guarantee this work & offered to do a more complex job for more money. I thought that this bathtub reglazing would last at least 1 to 2 years until I was ready to replace the bathtub. I feel that I wasted the money.

Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's List "big deal" $99 a room for two rooms of painting (walls only). I supply the paint and any primer prep etc. would be extra. Seemed like a good deal and I just wanted the walls freshened up. After a few starts and stops trying to get the insurance forms submitted, we set an appointment for a Wed. in December. Since I felt like I was getting a good deal, I prepped the heck out of my two rooms. Emptied cabinets and shelves, removed window treatments. wall hangings and switchplates, moved the furniture (what I could I moved out of the rooms what I couldn't I moved to the center) cleaned, spackled a few holes etc. And since I was having two rooms of a two room apartment painted, the kitchen and bathroom ended up full of stuff. I arranged to have my dog go elsewhere for the day and for me to arrive late to work so that, as instructed, I could meet Dmitriy from Handyman of NY at the apartment between 9:00 and 10:00 to let him in and discuss the work since he hadn't seen the apartment prior. He didn't show up. I tried calling and calls to his number were not being accepted or otherwise not going through. I finally abandoned the effort at 10:20 and sent an email asking him what happened. He replied 5 hours later asking me what happened. He claimed to have paid to park and then called me at 2 numbers and left messages. The first number would have been my home phone and since that phone was unplugged and put away to be out of his way, I didn't get that message until that evening. The message didn't say, "hey, I am standing outside your building, can I come up?" the message, left at 9:05 said, "I am calling to see if you got the paint and to confirm our appointment". There was no other message at any other number. The mystery is - why didn't Dmitriy/Handyman of NY come into my building if he was really parked and ready to go? I have a doorman who was expecting him and would have let him up. Why claim to park and then call me from the street and leave when I didn't answer the phone? Why not approach the building as you would need to anyway to get the work done and see what's what? So he either showed extremely poor judgement or just lied about being there. Either way, not a person I would trust in my home to do any kind of work. I think he regretted agreeing to Angie's "big deal" and decided to make it very difficult for me to redeem it. Which in retrospect might explain why he didn't submit the insurance form until after the management office closed the day before our first appointment which we then, as a result, had to reschedule. He inconvenienced me beyond belief and I would never recommend him. Additionally, I would suggest Angie's list investigate a bit better, the tradesmen or vendors they endorse by offering these specials.

Description of Work: I would definitely hire Handyman of NY again. Although it was a bit difficult to connect with them initially and schedule the appointment, when we did arrange it, the handyman (owner of the business) showed up punctually and was very friendly and easy to work with. He had all the tools necessary and went straight to work. My project entailed a number of very small projects, mostly consisting of hanging pictures and many mirrors (two extremely large and heavy) as well as a variety of large shelves. He also leveled my dishwasher, helped put two metal and lucite chairs together (not easy) that i bought online, and hung a few clocks around my apartment. The one small glitch that happened was that he measured where to hang one mirror wrong, and then when we realized, it was too late and there was a hole in my wall. Two minutes later, his 3-hour alarm rang on his phone (we contracted for 3 hours) and that was it. He asked me to schedule him again if I wanted him to come back and fix it. The hole is partically covered by the mirror, so it's not noticeable or a big deal, but I would have thought he'd offer to come back and fix it for free, as it was his mistake. Overall though, satisfied with his work and it was very economical.

Description of Work: I'd had a few odds and ends that needed to be taken care of at my apartment for a while so after asking friends for suggestions Handyman of NY was the RIGHT Choice. Michael was on time, efficient, reliable and did great work. Anything I asked of him was done and done well. He even offered to buy supplies we needed which was so helpful. I recommend them highly. One of the many things he helped with was installing shoe shelves in my closet. I have gotten COMPLIMENTS on them. What is there to compliment about a shoe shelf? Call Michael, he can show you.

Description of Work: He hung blinds (1), installed wooden shelves (2), hung a medicine cabinet (1) and installed under the cabinet wire pull out drawers for pots/pans (4). Good value and decent work.

Description of Work: I purchased a bathtub re-glazing from Dimitriy Arnopolous, Handyman of NY. He did an incredible job. My bathtub looks like new! He was very nice and accomodating. I missed our first appointment, and he was very chilled out about it and had no problem with rescheduling. He was prompt and professional and even took extra time to repair the front door of our condo building. When the fumes were too strong, he closed up the bathroom and used the fan. I definitely want him to take care of a few things around my place. I recommended him to my neighbors and condo association.

Description of Work: We got the special on Angie's List...three hours of work for just $99.00. Dimitri came well prepared and did everything we asked him to do quite proficiently and quickly. He put up a rod and helped us hang a curtain between the kitchen and the main room. He spent a long time figuring out where the fixtures should go and was very helpful in finding the optimal solution. We had made our own desk out of two boards and asked him to put some more putty so that one wouldn't see the crack. Dimitri did this, but suggested that silicon might be the better solution as it is flexible. We bought his recommended brand and he then applied it. It did in fact work better. Then he took off the bowl over the light under the ceiling fan as we wanted to clean this, but reassembled it rather quickly. We didn't really have three hours of work for him to do and so we asked him how to connect our computer to the TV so that we could watch Netflix on our television screen. He gave a tip with this, but it meant that one of us had to go buy some equipment in Manhattan...Dimitri waited while I did that and helped us hook it up in the end. He had left before we found out that the ceiling fan attachments hadn't been done quite correctly. The office personnel at Handymen of NY were very friendly and when I talked to Dimitri, he agreed to come back and help us with the lamp. He was here on Saturday for three hours and then came back on Monday free of charge to reattach the fixtures to the ceiling fan. We were happy with the work performed and would definitely call Dimitri again.

Description of Work: This service provided offered a special day rate through an Angie's List promotion. He did not return phone calls. When he did, he was too busy to do the service. He was also rude. He should be eliminated as a service provider. After two weeks of telephone tag, I asked Angie's List for a refund.

Description of Work: Not resolved. The glazing is peeling. He told me it might peel where there had been reglazing he sanded, but it is peeling in other places. I have sent him photographs. I hope this can be resolved. I also thought workman should leave a job 'broom clean' which would have just taken a few minutes. He did nothing. There were peeled bits from the bathroom to the front door (a short distance).

Description of Work: Dimitiry (handyman from handyman of ny) provided excellent, punctual and courteous service. Did a great job. Very efficient in scheduling the appointment via email, arrived when promised, worked efficiently but thoroughly (and repaired all that needed repair) - and very pleasant at all times. I would definitely use his services again.

Description of Work: It was a pleasant experience and quite frankly a breath of fresh air. Dimitri was very responsive and when i was missing a part he volunteered to order and come back to install for a decent amount extra. He was willing to work with me on the price and was polite and understood every task I asked of him.
