Excellent from start to finish. Punctual, professional, skillful, polite, responsive to my changes and needs, from the initial visit for the estimate to the final shipment of certain things to a storage facility.

This was actually a 2-part move with segments a week apart, involving some complicated scheduling. Went flawlessly. I have used Big John close to a dozen times over more than 20 years for local NYC moves, big and small, and to my house in CT. They are always prompt, courteous and professional. I wouldn't think of using anybody else.

In a word or two: very smoothly.

Big John's was FANTASTIC! They were a little more expensive than some of other movers but they moved all of our furniture, artwork, books, etc without a hitch. No scratches, no damage, and everything was wrapped/packed perfectly! The crews were personable, fast, efficient, and professional - I had complete peace of mind! I would use them again and again!!

Excellent job. The men were experts, packing the truck compactly, efficiently and meticulously. Everything got on the truck except some replaceable wardrobe frames and doors. These guys are the best in the business. They moved us out of our Brooklyn apartment in 2012 and stored our belongings in the interim. The office was professionally run and communication very good over the past two years. Would absolutely use them again and recommend them to anyone in the NYC area considering a move .

I have to say this is the best moving company I have ever used hands down! I have moved many times in NYC over the 18 years I have lived here and have had some really awful experiences. I found Big John's on here and because they were the only company that promptly responded to me and showed up on time to give me an on site quote, I went with them. They showed up early with a super nice and polite crew. They were super fast, careful and professional. At the end of the job, the head crew member informed me that the move went faster than the quote anticipated. (you pay the quote amount upfront). I got a refund of $995. I just received the check today. I can't believe it. I am going to recommend them to everyone who is looking to move.

Accurate estimate of time and money. Crew that moved out was professional, careful, and fast. Crew that moved back in had to be watched so that they didn't damage the renovated apartment.

The crew actually came early and called to find out if it would work for me to start earlier; their arriving early actually made it easier for me. The started work immediately. I had run out of packing boxed the night before and they took over and finished the packing very quickly. Every member of the crew was professional, helpful and pleasant to work with. Sophie the move coordinate at the office was terrific, thorough and very helpful in setting up the move and following up to make sure everything worked well. The move ended up taking less time than anticipated. The entire experience with Big Johns was great. The best moving company I have worked with ever. Highly recommend them.

Big John's Moving was the best moving experience I've ever had, starting with the estimate and working with Nick Russell. Every interaction on the phone and in-person was professional and courteous, including my questions about obtaining the certificate of insurance required by my new building. Everything was explained clearly. I knew what was entailed. The first day of the move, Francesco (the foreman) and Francis packed quickly and courteously. They asked questions if they were uncertain, especially noting fragile items. The second day, the actual move, the three-man crew -- Francesco (the foreman again), Kirk and Steven -- was exceptional. They arrived on time at 8 a.m. and were cheerful, polite and fast and clearly knew what they were doing. They asked occasional questions, but for the most part, the men proceeded speedily. They found legitimate problems and pointed them out, such as a lamp with a broken base that was unsafe and my sofabed with a broken frame that I didn't even realize. My doorman took a look at the truck being loaded and said admiringly, "Wow, they sure know how to pack a truck." Francesco stayed with the truck, loading it (and acting as a deterrent against theft on the street). The crew asked if I had particular concerns. I had four pieces of furniture I was especially worried about: an antique gate-legged table, a two-piece huge hutch, a painted highboy and a slate-topped table. They paid attention, vigilantly preparing and moving these items safely. At my new place, they unloaded quickly, no gouged or nicked walls, no scraped floors. Again, they had a system where Francesco stayed with the truck, and Kirk and Steven moved up the elevator, back and forth. It was a well-coordinated effort, and they finished before 3 p.m., per the move-in rules of my new building. Furniture was placed properly, boxes piled in the right rooms. Kirk (who probably weighed 140 pounds soaking wet and was as strong as an ox) set up my bed without my asking. And, nothing, absolutely nothing, was broken or damaged. I have raved about Big John's to friends and family. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Went mostly smoothly - team was very fast and efficient. Nothing broke or was damaged in the end. The only objection I had was their default labeling of all our electronics (including a brand new flat screen 47" LG HDTV) as "used, broken, gauged, scraped" in their forms. When we asked about it, the 'head' mover became downright rude. He finally had to call his office and they convinced him to cross out those adjectives in their inventory. He kept arguing it was standard for all things. (But really... how can a brand new TV be 'gouged'?) That took about 45 minutes of arguing and his tone got really hostile.

The move went exceptionally well. We used Big John's for our move from 84th St. to a larger apartment on 90th St. in 2011 and they were superb. We didn't even bother to get a quote from another company for our move to the suburbs yesterday (with our 20month old and dog in tow this time). As with the previous move, we got a free estimate (from a very friendly and professional estimator-- and the estimate was spot on). We were given a number of options (including storage, etc.) which was especially helpful as our closing was rescheduled a couple of times. Vivanne and all the representatives I spoke with in the office were incredibly helpful, accommodating and understanding (we had to reschedule our move several times). The crew arrived a couple of minutes early (for a 7:30 am move) and worked very quickly (and seemingly without a break) getting us out of the apartment. The cost is dependent on timing and all 5 guys were working at top speed for the entire move. The crew were friendly, professional, gentle with our stuff and amazingly quick. Moving is always stressful but the Big John's crew were incredible. Once we were packed (which was the hard part), we were literally able to stand/sit back and watch them do their thing. We were moved in to our new house before 4pm yesterday (including a stop to clear out our storage locker), which allowed us to start unpacking and be back at work today, which I think is incredible. Hopefully we'll not have to move again for years, but if we do, they'll certainly be our only call. I recommended them to my mother-in-law for her move and they did a similarly superb job. Her move also came in under the quoted price.

Estimate was ultimately too high. I have used them in the past for another move and was completely satisfied. TO my regret the lower priced movers we did use were a disaster. Would not make the same mistake again!

This was my second move with them. They are very professional and attentive to detail. They only come south once a month. They are very kind and very professional.

The work was really good. Move went well without hick-ups great job on the packing and everything was smooth. not much more to say. They did not so anything noteworthy but the service was good.

These guys were great. They moved us out of our old house in NY, stored everything for a month and then delivered it all to North Carolina . They handled everything 4 times. There was no damage and nothing was missing when they delivered it to us in our new home. They were prompt and kept to the schedule we agreed on in spite of super storm Sandy hitting while our stuff was in storage in NYC for all of Oct.. I would recommend this mover to anyone.

Went great -- used several times

It went wonderful. We had very good service with them. It cost us a few thousands. They packed up big items for us. They had to take apart a couch that had three different parts and then put it back together. They moved us actually in a hurricane, just a few weeks before hurricane Sandy. They went above and beyond. They come to your home, they look to see what needs to be moved and they quote you a price. Then they call back to verify and they're here on time. I was just very pleased with the service.

Superb service from beginning to end, cannot recommend highly enough. Very professional review / bid process, with company spending an appropriate time with us to review packing requirements and to provide a competitive quote. Company were willing to work toward lowest quote we received, without impacting the level of service we received. The packing team arrived exactly as scheduled, worked well with building management and day to day team in the building, took appropriate level of care inside our home and with our furnishings. The packing team also worked very well with more fragile items, giving us a great deal of confidence in their eventual safe arrival. On arrival in Texas, the delivery team (which included members of the packing team from NY) were superb. Called in advance to offer delivery timing options, and arrived exactly as scheduled on delivery day. The team took time to assess the home and worked effectively and efficiently to have all our furnishings installed in the correct locations. All fragile items arrived perfectly in tact.

One of the best moving companies I've used. They were on time for both pick ups and took great care of everything whether or not they'd packed it. The office was prompt in taking care of insurance forms for the new building. It was the easiest move I've done and I've had easily 10-15 in my lifetime. Worth every penny!

The movers reached out to figure out the best time for to pick up the boxes and furniture. They were very accommodating and did not even charge me for packing tape, which was helpful. However, the most important fact is that they got all my stuff to Connecticut on the scheduled day, with nothing missing or broken. Because of the horror stories I have heard with other moving companies, this was the most important item for me, and they delivered. I would definitely use them again and refer them to my friends. The pricing was also a little bit cheaper (not much) compared to offers I received from Florida based companies and national van lines.

The move went much more smoothly than I ever imagined it would. Their representative never missed a pre move appointment and always returned calls in a timely manner. The crew somehow managed to get everything packed and moved to it's destination in excellent condition. What looked like chaos to me was a breeze for them.

The movers were very professional, friendly, efficient and treated our items carefully. The move took less time than they had estimated so they charged us accordingly, for which we were grateful. We are recommending them to friends and would definitely use them again.

They were very pleasant and very helpful. When I asked for something additional, they did it with no problems. They definitely put my mind at ease. The only thing left is to have my furniture delivered. I have already recommended them to my neighbors.
