Best Home Services

This is a bait and switch. I signed up for an $89 service, then I was told I'd be expected to tip the housecleaner. By the time I had done that, it was a $105 service for 3 hours. I was also told that they'd be sending one of their best staff. The work was okay except for the glass coffee table which was left smeary.

It's been a dream. We have since employed this co. for regular service. Chantal, the house-cleaner, is prompt, friendly, professional and does as good a job as we used to do for our own home. She is very respectful of our space, tolerant of our puppy's excursions past her secluded area -- she loves Chantal too! This service is everything we've wanted in having someone else clean our home -- peace of mind, a clean house and a pleasant experience in every interaction with Chantal and with Kim who does the booking.

My boss asked me to get his apartment cleaned on very short notice. I messaged Best Home and they called me very shortly after. Kim was very professional and informative about their services. She was able to send someone to clean the next morning. Cybele arrived on time, we reviewed what needed to be cleaned and then I checked in 3 hours later and the place looked wonderful. I didn't have all the suggested cleaning supplies but she was able to make due with what I provided. Very happy with the quality and speed of the clean. Big tip & will call for future cleanings!! Also- being able to pay by check is a huge plus +++

Kim, the manager, was very responsive. She sent me a list of recommended cleaning supplies and quickly scheduled a cleaner, Sheila. Sheila arrived a few minutes early and was professional and hard-working. I will definitely use this service again.

Best home services was great. Good communication via phone and email. Amanda who came to clean was right on time and did a thorough job.we tipped 25 so the 4 hours plus tip was 143. Totally worth it. We will definitely use their cleaning service in the future.

I gave little notice when I asked to have my place cleaned and Kim Lutts was very pleasant and very accommodating. Chantal arrived on time and did an amazing job! My place was absolutely spotless and the job was completed in less time than expected. Chantal was truly delightful! I highly recommend Best Home Services.

They do great! They are very caring and accommodating with their scheduling. They aren't inexpensive but they are worth it.

The woman was very nice and she did a great job. She was very flexible with my schedule. She represented the company well. She broke the water hose on the refrigerator when she was trying to clean up behind it.

We missed each other schedule-wise. As far as their service is concerned, she was very pleasant. I think she was extremely professional.

The person assigned to us was amazing! She arrived a little late as it was a very rainy day and there were traffic delays beyond her control. We checked with Kim who got back to us right away and let us know that our person was on her way. When she arrived she got to work right away. The job took longer than anticipated (4 hours) but that was fine and understandable given what needed to be done. Also our kitchen is larger than most apartment kitchens in NYC so more to clean. All in all we believe she went above and beyond. We are in love with our kitchen again! Best Home Services made, what was a new experience for me, painless and worthwhile. This was the first time we hired a cleaning service and I am sure it won't be our last!

It was good to get a reliable cleaner on short notice.

I scheduled three cleanings with them for my Bronx studio apartment, once a month. I found that both communication and quality of service were inconsistent, and there are less expensive cleaning services, so I will not hire them again. It was difficult to pin down dates and times, with many emails and phone calls. Judith did a good job in general, but she decided to not use the wet mop for the last cleaning (after using it for the first two) because she thought it didn?t work very well. I was very happy with the wet mopping. I purchased the cleaning supplies that she asked for and even exchanged the rag mop when she said it was too big.

All went very smoothly, Ann Marie was on time, and did an exceptional job. I will hire this service again.

It started with the phone call. After contacting Best Services through its website, I received an email asking me to call to go over the particulars. During the 15-20 conversation going over what I wanted, Kim asked all the right questions and gave me all the right answers to my questions. I was already happy with this company and they hadn't even done anything yet. Very pleasant beginning. The house cleaner was on time and couldn't have been more professional. We showed her what we wanted and then she went to work. I have to say she did a mostly excellent job. I have one little quibble not worth mentioning here (believe me when I say I'm just being picky) but I have no doubt that it's easily corrected the next time out. She took about an hour longer than planned (and coincidentally, about an hour longer than the first company we tried), but I didn't have to go back over anything after she left. Given that a few commenters mentioned it taking a little longer, you should probably budget for that the first time out. We're going to stick with this company for the foreseeable future and I would easily recommend it to anyone looking for a cleaning service.

They did a good job. They cleaned the kitchen ceiling, cabinets, and other things.

After a bit of a rocky start with a cleaner who obviously didn't understand the mission, Best Home Services emailed me to find out how it went. I told them that I was underwhelmed/disappointed and they immediately sprang into action. Not only were they horrified to learn of my experience but they were ready to put it right without question at my convenience. Kim at BHS was constantly emailing me to find suitable dates and of course the next cleaning was complimentary. We finally found a date and Chantal arrived, cheerful and on time. She spent about 3 hours thoroughly cleaning the apartment (of course there are boxes all around so she couldn't clean that space). When I returned I did the "white glove" test (which normally I wouldn't consider doing) and found everything including the dust laden new wood floor to be spotless. Customer service is amazing and finally, so was the cleaning. Would recommend without hesitation. BTW, before the cleaners come you are sent a wonderful list of products they recommend and also ones they don't! Very useful! I certainly didn't know that dry Swiffers are far superior to wet ones... Thank you Kim!

It went ok, but there were some challenges that I think came about because of two things. The first was that Kim underestimated how much time the work I requested would take; and the second was that a really bad snow storm was developing as the day went on, which hampered our communications and led to changes in plans as the severity of the storm became clear. When I called Kim about the visit she was extremely nice and professional; we talked at some length and i said that I needed a thorough cleaning, including windows and the oven. She estimated that it would take one person six hours, which did not seem enough time to me, but she said that time could be added if needs be. She emailed me a confirmation with details of cleaning supplies I should get, and then a reminder the day before the visit. Janel came at 8:30, was friendly, polite, and responsive to my requests; she set to work. I left Janel my contact information and I left for work. After a couple of hours I received an email from Kim : "Hi Mary, I spoke to Jenel and she thinks it might take more time. I asked her to get in touch with me 1/2 way through the cleaning to give me an update. Thank you, Kim" Then, perhaps an hour later, I got a voice mail from Kim saying that Janel would stay longer and keep working past 2:30. As I was driving home from work around 2:00 i got a call (I think, or a voice mail) from Kim saying that Janel could not stay longer after all because the weather was getting worse and she needed to get home (the weather was indeed awful) She said that Janel and I should call her to discuss what work was left to do. The roads were really bad and I did not get home until about 2:50 Janel had her coat on and was very eager to leave. She told me that she had cleaned everything except my son's bedroom, which was what we had agreed would be the lowest priority. So she left without us actually looking at what had been done and not done. I tried to call Kim several times but she was not reachable. I can't remember the exact sequence of events but Kim and I communicated about someone coming to 'finish' the work, and she certainly made every effort for that to happen soon. It actually was not convenient for me to have someone come when she suggested. The other issue that emerged was that there was actually a lot still to be done rather than just my son's bedroom. Parts of the kitchen, around the stove top were not done, the paintwork was not touched, the windows were not cleaned. The bathrooms were excellent, but in my bedroom there were a lot of cobwebs up above. After about a week I called the office and told Patrick that there was still a lot left to be done and I didn't know when it would be possible to have them back. He was very polite and just said to let them know when I needed them. My overall experience is that the cleaning that was done was mostly fine, but it was not all done, and that it has taken up way too much mental energy to negotiate this. What I should have pushed for, in the beginning, was for two workers and probably a check list of what we had agreed upon. The blizzard prevented Janel staying longer and having the opportunity to review the work with me; that was unavoidable. So this is a failure of communication compounded by horrendous weather.

It was good but the price was very high.

B is Good according to the grading system, and they were good -- well above average. Some basics left undone but a lot to do. there was a lot of laughing and talking going on, which is ok but not very professional and I'm sure they would have been quiet had we asked. ...then again, maybe they would have finished more if they hadn't joked around. We've been experimenting with several services over the past weeks while a housekeeper is away, and while we won't go back to Best, I'm sure they are a very good service, have great people, etc. This was two people of the many they employ and they did a fine job, but not great.

They do great work. Would prefer to pay by credit-card so that I don't have to leave a check/cash, but that's not a huge deal.

The experience overall from start to finish was excellent and I would use this company again. The process to hire and schedule the service was easy and the woman who took my information was pleasant and professional. I called on a Friday to schedule service on Monday. They immediately sent me an email to confirm time, place and cost. The woman arrived on Monday early and was also very nice and pleasant (and spoke English). I usually don't like to be in my apartment when someone is cleaning, but I didn't mind this time. She did a great job, I didn't have to touch up anything after she left. I then got an email from the company requesting feedback. The cost for a one-time cleaning was less than I've paid in the past. I'll use them again and recommend to friends and family.
