On Friday, just when I was preparing for my New Years Day Brunch, I got an email and a call from the Best Home Services owner that the cleaning lady called in sick and would not be in. Mary was great to deal with - especially after several BAD experiences trying to schedule an initial cleaning with other companies. I have never used a cleaning service before, but was extremely pleased with the woman Mary sent to us - she was great and kept telling me to give her feedback so she could do the best job possible. Very impressed with the professionalism and the quality of service. We will continue to use this service regularly.

I am pretty happy with the Best Home Service so far. The lady Mary sent is very nice and pleasant. The greatest thing is that she managed to finish the 5 hours work into 3.5 hours, which really is very efficient and helps us save money to use their service for longer term. Our apartment is much cleaner now, and I finally can have a rest during weekend. Recommend their service.

I emailed Mary a couple of weeks ago to set up a home visit. We had used a different company (NY Housekeeping) and were dissatisfied with the quality. After an email and call we were able to work out an estimate and setup a time for that following Friday. The employee that arrived was very pleasant and took the amount of time that was quoted (~3-4 hours). Unfortunately, she did not do as excellent of a job as we expected. We talked with Mary who was completely understanding and we switched employees to Lenore - and she has done an absolutely fantastic job. The trouble spots we identified in the previous visit were completely taken care of, and the apartment was cleaner than when we moved in. Looking forward to Lenore's continued visits! Update - April 2012. Lenore has continued to do excellent work, visiting biweekly since the initial cleaning. Our rugs are cleaner than I can get when I vacuum myself and spend 30 minutes doing it. I don't know how she does it, but it's awesome!

She was done right rude on the phone. I called her for possible work and she came off like a general. She wanted to know when my home was cleaned last because she would need to know how much to charge, insinuating it was a filthy home. I wouldn't recommend her to anyone.

I called Mary to set up an initial cleaning of my two bedroom, two bathoom apartment in advance of an appraisal, in the hopes that if I liked the service I'd schedule a regular visit. Annette and Andrea were absolute miracle workers. They cleaned things that I didn't know could be cleaned, and removed stains that I thought were permanent, some of which were there when we moved in three years ago. It became obvious very early on that to do the whole apartment properly was going to take more time than Mary and I had estimated, and Mary called me to discuss with me what I wanted to do - if I wanted to stick to the initial time estimate, or allow the extra time to finish the whole job. In the end, both of them stayed for 8 1/2 hours, and really scrubbed the whole place from top to bottom. It was well worth it. After that inital cleaning, I arranged for Andrea to come back every four weeks, and we've agreed that one person for 5 1/2 hours is plenty to finish the place. Andrea has come twice since the initial cleaning, and I really appreciate her work: she's very thorough, and remembers from month to month where I keep things. I give them a B for price only because their services are more expensive than the same work from an independent cleaner: I think it's worth paying more because I like the flexibility of knowing that if I have a particularly big job I can call for an extra person to come in, which is harder to do with an independent person.

The women they sent was terrible (Sherica). She did alright the first time, but other visits she was not able to get the work done properly. The next time out she was 45 minutes late and never called me to let me she was going to be late and left items dusty in the home.

I called, received a quote and description of the work and what was needed and it got done. No date changes, no last minute surprises, just good, clean and reliable cleaning, just the way I like it. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

The cleaners did a very thorough job, were punctual and pleasant. They knew exactly what to do because Mary, who coordinates the cleanings, was incredibly thorough finding out about the job on the phone, and making sure I had all the necessary supplies. We will have them back again.

She gave me a price quote. Her attitude about the service really turned me off.

As above the women who came were very professional and efficient. They did an excellent job. I would highly recommend this agency.

I found Best Home Services (NY,NY) in the phone book, then heard about Angie's List. The cleaning women are just like the reports on Angie's List. High quality. I can't remember how many months I've been using Best Home Services.

Mary, the owner, is a very unpleasant person at all the wrong times. Her employees work hard. Sometimes they show up late or don't show at all. Each time they were late or didn't show I was understanding. Always. Twice one of the two women didn't show up at all and I only got notice from Mary long after it was obvious the person wasn't going to show. I get that things happen, so I never complained. Mary even scheduled my first service improperly and because of it, I wasn't there. No service was done, but because we each were very busy that week and we may have miscommunicated, I ate the cost and paid her when NO service was done AT ALL. I offered this, not her, she didn't suggest it. I offered it in good faith. A week later she was still "smarting" about it and I had to tell her to grow up and mature a bit, as a client, I made good on HER mistake and paid her, really so her staff would get paid for a day they thought they would be working. She couldn't seem to get past it, when in the end, she should have been pleased to work with another business woman that gets it. Anyway, Mary just never got her act or personality together. She always made it seem like she didn't like her job or understand customer service. When I signed up with Mary I told her of my busy schedule and how things may change here and there. She said she could handle it, even telling me (actually complaining) about other clients that call her at all hours of the day and night with scheduling needs. But at every change or movement, she acted as if I was hindering her business. I never called her late or early, I always emailed a request. She would always explain how difficult a change in schedule was to do and how I was messing up the schedule for her other clients. Then she would send me a long paragraph about how my change meant she had to call another client and beg to switch schedules. All this sounds very unprofessional to me. Very. If that is what you have to do, fine, but this was never my plan, which is why I asked her from the beginning if she had enough staff and time in the schedule for someone with a schedule such as mine. I don't need to be told as a client that I am inconveniencing you with a job you said you can handle. All in all, I had to tell her on several occasions to lower her voice and change her tone with me on the phone, which is why I ended up emailing her mostly. As an adult, I can tell she is my senior, so I always remained respectful, I found it odd that I had to tell her at times to keep it respectful. She was very snarky and rude, but in a way that only someone intelligent can discern, so when I told her I could read between her lines, she apologized, which means she knew she was wrong. I have no idea why she is so snarky and upset with someone that pays on time, never complains when her employees don't show to work or show up late? Three times in the few months I used her services, one of the two women that were to clean my place didn't show up. Mary never notified me beforehand about any possible absences. I once got a call from her later in the day to apologize for a no show. I didn't even call to complain. These are days I change my schedule to be around for the proper service and with one person and not two, the same work doesn't get done. Then she would want to reschedule for the other person to come back by themselves. I don't know, look, I can go on, but I won't. When they did show, they were great, so this review is really about the owner. There are several companies out there offering your service, customer service is what can set you apart.

Excellent. The person who came was very professional, hard-working and trustworthy (i didn't have a problem leaving her while I ran errands). My apartment looked brand new when she was done. I would definitely use this company again.

We were looking for a cleaning service for an Aunt. i used Angie's list and found Best Home Services who was highly rated. I spoke with Mary to make the appointment and she was professional and very responsive working with us on scheduling. Two people came to do the job and after 5 hours the house was sparkling. We will be scheduling our next appointment! I highly recommend Best Home Services.

I found the company to be quite organized, responsive, and informative. I found the housekeeper to be intelligent, hard working, and open to my requests. Quite a lot got done in the span of 5 hours.

I hired Best Home Services when I needed a cleaner for my 1 bedroom in NY that I rent out, and I needed someone within a few days! I had to arrange everything over the phone, from out of town, and I was nervous about the whole thing. In speaking with Mary, she was so clear and professional that the arrangements were simple and easy and we were able to work everything out. Since our first cleaning, she's sent the same person to our apartment at least 4 times, between tenants, and the rental process has become much easier for me. When we've used the apartment ourselves it feels so clean that I don't have to think about it. I can certainly say that I'd use her services again as I have many times!

It went well. Their services are great. They are easy to connect with and to schedule appointments with. They do a very good job. The price is fair. It is a little more than other services, but I think they do a better job so it’s worth the price.

Mary, the owner of the business, is extremely professional and responsive. She returned phones almost immediately and is email savvy too 9which really helps!). She stuck with me even though schedules kept changing before their first visit. Andrea was the person assigned to do the housework. She's simply lovely. She's also punctual, very pleasant and extremely thorough. I would recommend this service to others. (And don't forget to use the coupon on Angie's List - nice discounts offered by Mary).

Best Home Services sent a person that was prompt and friendly. She needed only basic directions and did a very good job. The apartment was cleaned to my satisfaction within the allotted 4 hours.

Everything was done professionally and routinely. The refrigerator, stove and bathroom look great. Mary should be commended for her work.

After a long break, I returned to Best Cleaners and have just come home to a sparkling clean home. I had been very happy with Best, but after returning from a long trip out of town I decided to try another cleaner. First I tried a green cleaner and then a cleaner that offered low prices and 'easy internet booking.' Both services were disappointing and have left me with a greater appreciation for Judith (who cleans my apartment) and Mary (who dependably run's Best). A few points about what makes the Best truly the best: -Mary is great with scheduling and was quick to get me scheduled with Judith who had cleaned my apartment in the past. Mary is proactive with communications over the phone and internet—because of her Best is extremely responsive and dependable. -Mary clearly only sends very good cleaners who she trains. Judith has done a beautiful job with my apartment from day one and I haven't had to explain anything--she knows what to do with special crystal and china, she knows how to make a bed, she knows how to clean. -While this service is about coming home to a clean home, I also recommend it because I completely trust Judith and enjoy having her in my home. There have been times in the past when I was home while Judith cleaned and she's nice to have around. -Best's prices are competitive, but because the service provided is of SUCH a higher quality Best is extremely good value. I appreciate that the rates are reasonable enough that I can afford to tip without feeling like I'm spending too much on cleaning. I highly recommend Best Home Services.

I was sent Eve and another lady and they took 4 hours each to finish the job. The job was done with profesionalism and was done well. Eve was great and the other lady did well but she did not have the drive that Eve had, I had to show her places where there were things that I wanted clean, with should be automatic in her job.Overall I was very happy and I will call them again when the need arises.

Excellent and thorough job; courteous and professional from start to finish. Would highly recommend.
