We specified that the problem we wanted to address was leaking in the back of the house. Their roofing job did not solve this problem. We are currently investigating (four years after the installation) whether individual points of the contract were adhered to. For instance, it appears the leak guards around the pipes were not installed according to specifications. Also, the vents in the eves fall out in heavy winds. When we have more details, we will update this entry.

McLeod Brothers Roofing and Siding Inc did a very thorough and good quality job on our roof. I was very pleased that they just threw in the garage roof for free. The gutters are very nice. All in all it was a very good experience.

Decided to go with another contractor with better prices and better ratings on Angie's List.

I hired McLeod to do my roof, gutters and window capping for about $20,000. The work was of the lowest quality. The boss walked around the house and I pointed out the problems. I pointed out all of the incredibly sloppy window capping - visible to my untrained eye, including gaps between the pieces and indents from the hammer head. I thought that was his job - to correct any poor workmanship and to make sure the job was done right - not my job. They made the corrections I pointed out. Months later I noticed some bulging in my living room wall and assumed it was left over from before I hired McLeod. My handyman immediately determined that McLeod forgot to install a down spout on the gutters. I asked McLeod to come and look at the problem. I did not hear from McLeod again and three days later my handyman installed a down spout. I worry about the quality of the roof they installed. I stupidly selected McLeod because of their GAF advertisement and their references.

The roofing crew was very courteous. They protected my garden and windows from damage by covering them with plywood. They finished the whole job in a day and a half. I was impressed. The siding crew was also very courteous, but not as cautious. In the process of removing the siding a window was broken and a few window screens were torn. Everything was fixed promptly. Both crews cleaned up after each day of work. They were very reponsive if I had any questions.

We found that McLeod Brothers won us over with their roofing presentation. Sales manager Chris Choi spent well over one hour in our home explaining all the particulars of roofing, and siding as well as showing us examples of materials and workmanship. Although they were not at the low end of our roofing/siding estimates, we were very comfortable explaining our expectations, and they were responsive to our wishes. The roofing and siding crews were courteous, neat and fast. It took only several days to complete the job.
