Description of Work: We did a really large project with IA in 2008. We had difficulty last summer leading into this winter. We found that IA was not as cooperative or professional as we had hoped they might be given the amount of money we spent and the investment we had made int our relationship with them.

Description of Work: A completely unreliable company under a veneer of professionalism. Against my better judgement, I've ignored the first sign - IAS has neglected to return my initial call, yet claimed that they returned it when I reached out to them again (calls to my virtual number get logged in 3 different systems). Michael, the co-owner, came out to the house and was very thorough and knowledgeable during his walk-through. He reassured me that the job (a brand new whole-house A/C system) can be completed in a timely manner, and that I'd be getting a proposal containing a selection of quotes within 2 days. Having waited 4 days, I've emailed Michael - no response. I've waited over the weekend and called the company. A rather pleasant lady was very apologetic and has reassured me that Michael's nearly done with the proposal, and will be sending it to me the following day. That proposal, or any contact from the company, for that matter, is still to materialize a week later. |Innovative Air Solutions has blithely wasted over 2 weeks of my time, after I've repeatedly stressed the urgency of getting our defective A/C system replaced in time for the approaching summer. I suppose we've dodged a bullet - I'd hate to be at this company's mercy when our A/C system needs service in 90° weather.

Description of Work: My air conditioning system was "thumping" and despite not being able to hear the problem while he was he to perform the service, he suggested doing an annual service to the system which would be more cost effective and, in fact, it appears to have solved the problem

Once I decide to go forward, the work was done quickly and efficiently. It took about 4 days. The guys doing the job were careful and responsive. All work sites were cleaned up and old equipment removed. The system is working well. The heat feels very comfortable and there are few cold spots. It is very quiet and so far oil usage is down. It was such a simple solution to my problem but somehow none of the other people that I talked to came up with this solution. There is also a 1500 dollar tax credit. They people at Innovative were amazingly responsive. I dealt with with the salesperson, Rob, primarily through email. He was a honest and responsive. I strongly recommend this company.
Description of Work: I had an old oil driven steam system in the house with noisy radiators and poor control over the temperature. Our house had central air conditioning and they suggested a system with a new energy efficient burner that would heat water that would be exchanged to air and circulated though the air conditioning ducts. Since we were doing this I also replaced the central air system with a new energy efficient unit. I am very happy with the new system. The system is responsive allowing me to leave it low during the day and at night. It is very quiet in contrast to the previous system. I was able to get rid of all the radiators making it much easier to fit furniture in the rooms.

On August 20 the technician came and to repair the system. He claimed that the all the work was done on the air handler and that it was no longer covered under warranty. There was no work done to the compressor. I told him I wanted to check with Unico and see if the warranty does cover the air handler. I called Unico and verified that I did in fact have a 5 year warranty that it did cover the air handler. I called him back and stated I spoke with Unico and in that 20 minutes he claimed that the compressor was blown as well. He stated he would have to get a new compressor and it would be Tuesday before he could complete the job. I told him I would pay him Tuesday for whatever wasn’t covered under warranty. I got a call from Michael Carlo about 10 minutes later stating I was wrong that I only had a one year warranty on the air handler. I told him that I had a registered warranty with Unico and that it was covered for 5 years, I verified this with Unico. He then screamed at me stating that he would have never done the work had he known that it was warranty work. He claimed that Unico does not pay him enough. The interesting part of this is that he claims that he honors the warranty under units he installs, but not from the company he had purchased. This means that he knew the warranty was for 5 years. He then suggested I pay the bill and then ask Unico for reimbursement for the bill. I told him that I would have to verify this with Unico and I would call him back. I have now realized that he was lying. I called Unico and spoke with Jerry Nicholson and he stated he had to look into and had never heard of such a thing. I called innovative back to tell Mr. Carlo this. Mr Carlo then claimed that the Tech was not leaving until he was paid for what he had done even though the system was not working. I told him that he was going to get his money when the system was fixed. At this point he screamed he was never going to fix the system and he was never coming back. He then said that I would have to pay now or he was going to call the police and have my daughter arrested for fraud. I called Mr Nicholson back at Unico and asked him to intervene. He then stated what I was thinking, “How do we know he fixed anything”. My daughter went to talk to the technician and he stated he couldn’t leave that he was told to wait there for the police to come. Ultimately, two hours later he left. She felt so intimidated by their presence in her yard that she paid the bill in full. She was afraid that they would come back. The next day I had the unit fixed by another company. The company stated the problem was misdiagnosed. They replaced the fan motor in the compressor and the system is running like a top. When I finally got a copy of the bill for Innovative there is no breakdown of charges. I will get $450 from the warranty. This included 100% parts and $85 per hour labor. Because they don’t itemize the bill I do not know why I owe them $874. In a lifetime of dealing with contractors I have never dealt with such a lying, rude, dishonest and unethical company. I have remodeled 15 houses and installed three Unico systems.
Description of Work: This company bought the company that I had purchased the air conditioning unit from. They had to repair the air handler and air compressor. The system was not pushing cold air.

Response from Innovative Air Solutions
I appreciate the member's comments and our opportunity to respond. At first glance, it would appear that Innovative Air Solutions failed to perform to our own expectations. Upon reading further, it is clear that she used this media as a weapon, with little regards to truth and fact. There are at least 18 statements, yes 18, made by her that are false and fraudulent, and should be considered slander. What the member fails to mention, is that she was not involved until it was time to pay the invoice, and that it was with attitude and insult, from her perch in Florida. She made threats to us, about the manufacturer, and the original installer. I only wish we recorded conversations… I would post it for everyone to review. Imagine our position, over a one hour trip to her home, two (2) trips back and for the for parts, authorization from an unauthorized, would-be homeowner for the repairs, four (4) hours on site, and then told at completion that we would not get paid for our efforts, and as she put it… “Tough!” Yes, the invoice was paid the very next day willingly, but it came with an apology. I did speak to the member, and I did speak to Mr Nicholson of Unico, but none of it in the fashion she described. We are Westchester’s largest Unico dealer, we are family owned, we have a 98% approval rating as a Trane Comfort Specialist, and we have files and files of customer comments and industry accolades. I invite anyone to visit our facility in Tuckahoe, speak to our staff, interview our technicians, and call anyone of our customers. There is a great disparity from what she reports, and what is truth. We would be happy to prove it.

We had a Unico system installed by Innovative Air a few weeks ago…and we wish we would have done it sooner! From start to finish, they were some of the most professional people we have ever dealt with. Mike spent almost 2 hours with us in order to provide a detailed estimate, and answered all of our questions. We had the job scheduled within 2 weeks of signing the contract. They were very accommodating to our schedule, arriving at 7:30 each morning so that by husband and I could see them before we left for work. The workers were the cleanest I have ever encountered, putting on shoe covers and laying down mats. They were great about leaving us notes about things we should look at before the next days work, and when we had some questions about the locations of the vents Matt took the time to explain why they suggested them where they had and ultimately convinced us that it was the right choice (which of course we now agree that it was). The whole installation took 5 days and the system was up and running the afternoon on the 5th day. The even sent someone back the next day to fix something because the air temp in one area wasn’t up to their standards. They took the time to show us how to work the thermostat also. We are very happy with our decision, as it has dramatically changed the way we live in our house in the summer! It used to be hot and sticky, and now it’s very comfortable. We highly recommend that anyone considering this type of system to use them, it was a pleasure!

I decided to get high velocity air conditioning installled in my townhouse here in Manhattan, after several past years contemplating and putting it off - largely because of the anticipated cost. Due to the market, I decided now would be a good time to get at least a fair price for my multi-level 1700 sqaure foot place, but boy was I in for a surprise. Potential installers had actually increased quotes I had retained a few ago by several thouand! However, I had not heard of Innovative, but through them in the mix to get a quote and things worked-out with them. Bob Yaicuk was the lead contractor, who is highly knowledgeable, solid integrity and attentive. I got a very good price of $14,900 -thousands below other quotes with similar or better materials. The job took no more than 3-4 days to install intitially, and Bon provided daily progress reports. Then, after ancillary work is completed, they returned on schedule to start-up the system. The only drawback was that the client is responsible for hiring and overseeing the ancillary work of the installation - electrical, carpentry, roofing, etc. (They're HVAC and don't perform these necessary items) so, you're essentially your own GC and if you are not prepared, it can get very trying to coordinate between the two all the players and infelxibility time-issues, but I toughed it out though and managed to get all done without much drama. To say the least, I am very happy with the end result - considering this is Manhattan and I could have had more expense and more headaches than I expected. Bob is the way to go!

A salesperson came to our house and spent a couple of hours inspecting our old equipment, reviewing our options, and pricing out each option. (These initial prices were honored at the end of the job.) We signed a contract several days later, and the work was scheduled about a week later. All the work was completed in 2 days. The technicians worked efficiently and competently. All of our interactions with the company were positive.

Very happy they were able to respond the day following my initial call. Technician obviously knew what he was doing and was able to diagnose and repair the problem. My issue with them is on price. Three hundred dollars for a 30 minute service call is WAY out of line for a residential customer. I had them bid on some additional work and the estimate came to nearly $1250 dollars per day for labor. I would not use them since their prices are WAY too high.

Innovative Air Solutions did an excellent job for me. Everything was high quality work. Their prices are high but not exorbitant. You rarely get what you don't pay for. It was many thousands of dollars but I don't remember the exact price. When they walked in the door, the first thing they did was put booties on their shoes.
Description of Work: They installed a new HVAC unit. I have a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home. They replaced a lot of ductwork. It was a huge job.
