Ilberg Electrical Contracting

I picked Johm Ilberg due to all the positive reviews on Angie's List. I was happy to find that all the reviews were accurate. The guys did a great job. All the workers were nice, courteous and neat. John supervised and checked all the work to make sure all was done right. He even helped me save some money on my bathroom I was having installed this week. Alure had initially told me that I would be needing more circuts in my panel. John told me that they could turn some larger circut breakers into smaller ones to make more room and that I did not need a larger panel or a subpanel as Alure suggested. He even told me that I could have Alure call him if necessary. I was really happy with everything and John Ilberg is now my electrician for life.

John was very professional, knowledgable and efficient. He addressed several electrical issues in our home. I would use his services again and recommend him highly to others. He was also friendly and personable.

Explained what he would do and offered me a price over the phone which I accepted. Subsequently, emailed me a contract asked for about 40% upfront and the balance upon satisfactory completion of the work. Also gave me an approximate time period when he could do the work, he ordered the materials and after he received them he updated me on the specific date when he would do the work. Arrived on the scheduled day and completed the work in an efficient manner. When he completed the job, he had me start up my generator and tested the panel to ensure it functioned as I expected.

We got a couple of estimates for electrical work to be done on a shed that was damaged from Sandy. The irrigation pump was fried and required the entire panel and switches to be replaced. Mr .Ilberg was the second estimate we received and we were happy to hear that the damage wasn't as bad as we originally thought. He installed a panel... . and replaced the exposed exterior electrical line for the irrigation pump. Also upgrading the lighting, outlets and installed a surge protection in the shed itself. We were very pleased with the work he did and wont hesitate to use him in the future.

Mr. Ilberg was punctual and his crew was knowledgeable. Their price was fair. As far as professionalism, the following actions lowered my opinion of their organization: Radio left on for Spanish speaking worker outside home, ate lunch in our kitchen, used our bathroom, and when a problem was discovered on first floor of home (in kitchen, minutes after they left), to their credit, they returned immediately, BUT proceeded to do the repairs without advising us what it would cost. When I asked him, after replacing the outlet, what it cost, he said just, "I'll bill you." Part of me was thinking, since he is elderly, that perhaps this was some sort of old school language indicating, "Don't worry about it, kiddo," but I was prepared to be billed. Sure enough the bill arrived a few days later. To be fair, his price was reasonable for the time spent and part replaced (not great, but a fair price). However, it's unprofessional to do business in this way. If we're going to conduct business formally, then give all prices (or at least an estimate) up front, and do NOT eat at my kitchen table and poop in my bathroom. If we're all buddy buddy, then share my table and poop all you will, but how dare you nickel and dime me (an extra $100 on a $2100 bill is not a big deal) for a quick fix.

They did excellent work. They were on time and their price was good. I'm very happy with the experience. I recommend them highly.

I called John and left a message. Within a few hours he returned my call and we set up an appointment. John and his helper arrived on time, did the work they were hired to do, and cleaned up after themselves. Professional and reliable= a great experience!

The last time we used Ilberg Electrical, we had purchased a swag lamp which we wanted to be connected directly to the box in the ceiling. We bought a kit to do that, but the lamp was of such a design, that the kit didn't work. John and his fellow worker figured out an elegant solution and modified the lamp in such a way that it looks like it was meant to be hung that way.

I called Mr John Ilberg to trouble shoot an issue I thought was an electrical problem . Mr Ilberg arrived prompt (with his assistant), they were both courteous and professional. Mr Ilberg quickly checked my box and the outlets and determined that the issue was with the appliances and not the electrical system. I would highly recommend Mr Ilberg to my friends and family. I gave him an A rating throughout ....But he actually deserves an A ++. Thanks again Mr Ilberg.

These projects had built up over time, and I finally decided to call in an electrician to repair them. I called Ilberg since they were well reviewed on Angie's List and I was not disappointed. John called me back promptly, and set up an appointment. On the day of the appointment, he called to let me know he was on his way. When he arrived, he fixed the broken high hat in the kitchen, but the light still didn't work. He then determined there was a problem with one of the switches, and he replaced that well. He also replaced two bulbs (in a ceiling fan and another kitchen high hat) that had broken from their casing (they had probably been screwed in too tightly), and even gave me a tip to prevent this from happening in the future. He also installed a new dimmer switch. I won't hesitate to call John in the future.

After a family member in Baldwin had their house & electric damaged by Hurricane Sandy, I looked up electrical contractors to recommend. I picked Ilberg because of their rating and because they said the covered the entire service area and had a Nassau County 516 phone number. When my relative called them, they said they did not service Baldwin. I guess they only service a small part of Nassau County.

Our crawlspace was flooded during Sandy and the heat tapes on our pipes were fried. When removing the old tapes, we discovered an ancient junction box (that was also flooded) that had supplied power to the back portion of our house. We had no power in the back of our house and our pipes were in danger of freezing if we didn't get new heat tapes up quickly. We'd used Ilberg Electrical before and they were great. This time was no different. John returned our call immediately, showed up exactly on time with two helpers, and finished the job in half a day. He laid drop cloths throughout the house so we didn't get crawlspace mud all over. His workers were polite and efficient. The entire time they were here my paranoid dog barked at them like a lunatic and they were still calm and polite--even tried to make friends with her! (Turns out John is a dog lover. He eventually won her over with a handful of dog biscuits.) I highly recommend them and will use again in the future.

They understood the job at hand and then performed professionally. Clean work; not sloppy at all. Pleasant to deal with and explained everything properly. I would definitely recommend again.

I thought his price was way too high when he came to my house to do the estimate although he was cordial enough. I think the main reason the price was so high is because he is from Suffolk County and it is a long distance from where I live. The man was probably charging me gas money but I can't blame him. The estimate was free as long as I gave them the coupon from Angie's List.

We called Ilberg after realizing that we had a short somewhere in our outdoor lighting. They called back soon after our initial call, made an appointment in a reasonable amount of time, and when Tim was going to be fifteen minutes late HE ACTUALLY CALLED to let us know!!!! I found John Ilberg and Tim pleasant to work with, efficient, and they charged a fair price for the work they did. I would recommend Ilberg Electrical to anyone and would certainly use them again in the future.

It was fast and friendly. Nick was able to explain things without sounding patronizing or condescending. He was even patient with my 4 year old's questions.

Needed outlet replaced for airconditioner on a hot, muggy day. Nick came within an hour and 30 minutes later, we had airconditioning. Would certainly use them again.

I left a message for this company on Friday and on Monday my call was returned and an appt. was set for Tuesday. Nick showed up within the estimated time slot - which we all know is rare! He was very helpful and professional and the job was completed in about 1 1/2 hours. I kept adding on more jobs, as my husband texted me, and he was patient enough to keep doing them! I would recommend them and would use them again in the future.

We have an older house, and the previous owners didn't do much maintenance on it. We got estimates from several electricians to do the service up-grade and install the cut over panel for the gas generator. However, the box around the meter and several other parts on the outside of the house were severely rusted. All the electricians who came said we needed to replace the rusted parts, but the other electricians tried to convince us to replace all the pipe that covered the wire from the meter to the corner of the house - which would have greatly increased the cost. Mr. Ilberg was very honest. He explained only what needed to be done, and gave us a price that was almost half of what the other electricians would have charged. When he and Nick came, they were both very friendly and polite. It was a big job, but they worked efficiently and meticulously. Who ever originally installed the panel had left a lot of extra wire wrapped around the inside of the box. I watched Nick hook up the circuits in the new panel, and it is much neater. If anything needs to be fixed or changed in the future, I'm sure it will be much easier to find things. They also installed a small box on the outside of the house to plug the generator cable into. One of the other electricians said that we would have to open a window in the basement in order to connect the cable to the panel, which - of course - would not be a smart thing to do in both a hurricane or a major snow storm. From the moment I met Mr. Ilberg, I found him to be very professional and felt as though I could trust him. Once I met Nick, I got the same impression. They both took great pride in their work, which was evident in the precision in which they installed the new equipment and the way they cleaned up afterwards. It was important to us that we would be able to get an Electrical Approval Certificate for the work. Mr. Ilberg will complete and file all the paperwork, so that it will pass inspection from both the underwriter and LIPA. I would highly recommend Ilberg Electrical Contracting for their professionalism and quality of work.

Quick response to initial call quick response, estimate within 2 days quick response, job completed following week Friendly, informative,clean and true to estimate. Since my husband works long hours, I have to handle all of the contractors myself. John and Nick made me feel very comfortable dealing with them. They listened respectfully to my requirements and performed to my highest expectations. Thanks Guys!

He is very nice, did the work quickly and cleaned up after himself. I will use them again in the future if I need them.
