Description of Work: I had an old wooden structure around a bbq, which was built over 30 years ago. The wood had deteriorated and needed to be removed and a new structure built. Don came to the house, showed photos of awnings and explained to me how the finished product would look. He was right and the end result is beautiful.

From the start I could tell I was dealing with true professionals. It took them one day to complete the project. After the job was done I had no issues with the quality of work.
Description of Work: Removed old shingles, gutters and siding in front of the house. Installed new shingles for entire roof, installed new gutters, installed new front siding and re-flashed front window.

We scheduled the work to be done April 1st, but I had to cancel last minute. They were very understanding and rescheduled the work to be done on May 9th and 10th. It turned out better than I could have expected. I am very pleased and I would recommend them to anyone looking to have work done at their home.

He wrote up the estimate on the spot and invited me to his showroom to review the products I wished to use. Gave me brochures on the products they offer. Would consider using them in the future but have decided to do another style carport.

 + 0 moreGary Schnieder, the salesman was referred by a neighbor. He visited us and listened to our ideas. He expressed his ideas and a picture of the project began to develop. We interviewed three other companies, but decided to go with Wendel because of a personal referral from a neighbor. Wendel also provided us with the custom stained front door we wanted at a more reasonable cost than the other companies, and threw in the back door as a gift. We did have to wait a couple of months for their crew to begin the project. When they began they worked straight through until completion. The crew under the supervisor, Will, were a professional group who worked hard and worked together well as a team. Throughout the project Gary was available to assist us with questions. This is the part we liked best - the salesman was also the Project Manager and was on site when needed. We are very happy with the results.
Description of Work: Complete siding and back and custom made front door. House was a front to back high ranch.

 + 2 moreVery well! First off, Bill Jr is wonderful to work with. Initially he took the time to sit down with my wife and I in his store and walked through the job. He also was very helpful in working with our insurance company to get the most back from a claim (hail storm). He is an excellent sales man and fair. The project itself was managed by Anna who is very responsive and was helpful in designing our job and selecting our products. Each project was managed by different crews and took a lot of coordination. The job timetable did not workout exactly how it was explained but gone done in a reasonable amount of time. There were a number of back and forths and the roof demo was overly messy, but they came back and cleaned up promptly the next day after following up with them. The only other complaint was they removed the wood under the sofit without consultation (although rotted) and cost $1,500 more to replace with new. I wish that possibility was discussed up front. So far no issues with any of the installs (no roof leaks, doors and windows work well, etc.). The cost of the job was ok but realize they have to make money too. Like with any job of this size, it's a little stressful and takes time to manage the contractor, but overall they did a fantastic job and was happy to find that the final job was what I expected. It is not too often that you get what you should expect in home improvement jobs. I would highly recommend, Bill and his team to anyone.

 + -1 moreWorking with Wendel Home Center has been a positive experience from start to finish. Billy Ritter and his staff are amazing, and his contractors are experts at their crafts. On a scale of one to ten, with ten being the best, Wendel gets an eleven! I would use them again in a heartbeat.
Description of Work: Our home had a 13' x 21' screened room in the back when we purchased it eleven years ago, which we used all summer long but could not use in the fall, winter and early spring, so we wanted to take down the room and add a four-season sunroom to the back of the house, so that we could enjoy the space all year round. We did a lot of research before deciding to go with Wendel Home Center, and it is a decision that we are very happy we made! It is important to note, first of all, that my husband and I are very, very, very particular and pay attention to every single detail when doing a project, and we had pages and pages of notes and lots and lots of pictures of what we wanted before we ever met with anyone from Wendel. From the very first meeting with Billy Ritter, which was after numerous meetings with representatives from other sunroom companies, we felt confident that this was going to be the contractor for us. The sunroom displayed in the Wendel Home Center showroom was exactly what we were looking for -- beautiful in every way, solidly built, no visible hardware, just to name a few of the details we liked. When we sat down with Mr. Ritter to go over the details of what we were looking for, we gave him a copy of our notes and photos, and he took the time to go over everything with us and told us he would get back to us with a price, which he did shortly thereafter, and which was the best price we had gotten up to that point. Every other contractor came in over $40,000 despite the fact that we would tell them we didn't want to spend over $40,000, and then when we told them "no thanks" they would turn around and lower the price. Mr. Ritter did not do that. He came in at a fair price from the beginning, and the price was actually lowered when we decided to make the sunroom smaller to comply with our town code. Every single detail was addressed -- and when we added a few things along the way, it was never a problem and always priced fairly. Mr. Ritter has the patience of a saint, and there was never, ever any pressure from Wendel to sign with them. When we finally signed on the dotted line, it was with a feeling of confidence that we were going to get the job we were hoping for. The Wendel contractors who worked on our sunroom were amazing in every way too -- professional, experts at their craft, neat, punctual, friendly. They removed the old room, repaired our home so perfectly we can't even tell where the old room used to be, poured a concrete slab and foundation, built a beautiful sunroom with a solid base wall that is cedar shingled on the outside and sheetrocked with exquisite molding on the inside, installed the fan and AC/heater and electrical outlets and lights inside and out, laid a beautiful brick floor, and, in short, built us a sunroom that is even more beautiful than we imagined it would be! They did a wonderful job, and I cannot say enough good things about Wendel Home Center.

Description of Work: Wendel covered my existing 15'x28' patio with an 4" thick insulated roof panels supported by 8" round colonial fluted columns. Each panel is 4'x15' and 7 panels were used. The rear and one side of the roof were supported by bolting directly into the back and side of the house and the front was supported by 4 of the 8" round columns. Make sure you go over the project in detail and make sure you allow for any electrical connections for fans and lighting.

I only wish he had been more of a salesman because i didn't know for certain what i wanted exactly and that led to some confusion and delays until i finally made up my mind which i think might have been avoided if he had 'sold me' more on the idea of a bigger room than originally planned. He recommended a good electrician but i was not happy with the mason he recommended. Still, the job Bobby was responsible for and the quality of the sunroom construction details and door installation rates an A+. The price was also very good. thank you Bobby!

 + 1 moreWENDEL HOME CENTER installed all our siding, windows and doors some years ago. We began having leaks and then had roof done by another terrible company. The leaks continued after new roof was installed. We had roofer look and he found that the siding company never installed flashing from siding to roof. He was puzzled as to why his roof installer would ever install roof without that flashing that should have been installed by siding company. We called Wendel again seven times over 2 weeks with no responses, their receptionist confirmed that owner Bill Ritter got messages and can't understand why he still hadn't called us. We even had Mitch from Major Homes come take a look and he confirmed that their was no evidence that flashing from siding to roof had ever been installed thus causing the leaks. He even offered to fix the error at no cost to us if Wendel refused to back up their own work. Wendel finally called and immediately denied that his installer could have possibly left out the flashing and simply blamed the roofer. Initially he refused to come take a look altogether then said that he would have to charge us even to just take a look and any errors found would be a charge to us for him to fix. This is his own company's error and poor quality work that he wants to charge us to correct. ****We actually had Major Homes fix all the errors and poor quality of Wendel at NO COST to us after Wendel refused to stand behind their own work ! WENDEL HOME CENTER DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK!
Description of Work: Wendel Home Center installed our siding, all windows and doors some years ago but when we began calling them about problems with leaks, they were NOT WILLING TO COME BACK TO TAKE A LOOK AT THEIR WORK WITHOUT CHARGING US FOR LOOKING AND SAYING THAT ANY CORRECTION TO FLAWS IN THEIR INSTALLATION WORK WOULD ALSO RESULT IN A CHARGE TO US.

Description of Work: We used Wendel Home Center 2 weeks ago. We purchased a screen door and storm door from them. We bought the screen door with sliding windows up and down 1 year ago, and it was broken. They did some maintenance on it and fixed it for nothing. I have 2 houses, and they put the door in the second house also. We also had problems with that. They came out and fixed that for nothing. They have also put it on in another house. We have gone to them for different things.

Door is a brand we hadn't heard of (Sugarcreek Industries), but is substantial and appears well-made. Installation crew was courteous and professional. Took off and took away old storm door and cleaned up area.
