Very good experience as it goes working with home remodeling companies. The sales person was very professional and help us settle on the best product for our needs. They assign a project manager to oversee the install and he was also very professional. In fact he identified a couple of different installation options for us that lowered our price without sacrificing on product we wanted. The installation team consisted of 2 installer, both who were courteous and took a lot of time setting up to ensure no damage/mess was done to our front flower bed or inside our home. The were on-time and performed the job in less time than estimated. They also did a nice job of clean-up afterward. All-in-all a very good experience.

Hello: The roofers, 4 gentlemen, came to the jobs site on time and prepared to work. The roof supplies were delivered earlier to the job site and there was more than enough to finish the job. In fact there were 6 complete bundle more than needed, but the job was done on time and the site was cleaned up with no job mess left. I is my opinion that if you going to invest money in a roof for either a home or business you need to use a quality material and a good professional to apply it in a timely manner.

The guys were very prompt and professional. They called me 30 min prior to arrival and 30 min prior to completion, as requested. They protected everything with tarp and cleaned up everything after they were done. The windows are so great! It feels like we live in the countryside it's so quiet in the house now. The draft is also gone. We just had a baby 2 months ago, so this was perfect timing. I would definitely call Power again when we are ready to do our tenants' apartments. Also happy to refer this company.

PHRG had someone going door to door in our neighborhood. My wife set up an appointment for a estimate to replace our roof, something we know we need to do. The appt was for 6:30, they showed up at 7. Not horrible, but not on time either. The inspection/estimate/presentation took 1.5 hours, which would have been much longer had I not told the guy we did not have much time. The employee who came to our house was very nice, did a through job of inspecting our roof and explaining what they would do to replace our roof (materials, time, etc). Very professional . The estimate was twice what we got from other roofers. we were offered a 10% discount of we booked on the spot. I can not speak to the quality of work as we did not go with them for the project.

Response from Power Home Remodeling
Thanks for taking the time to leave us feedback. I wanted to reply to address the length of the appointment and the discrepancy in price between Power's quote and other contractors you may have met with. We take the education of our customers seriously and informing our them as to all the ins and outs of their project can take time. When making a decision about the renovation of your home, it's important to us (and important to our customers, we've learned) to understand how we are different from other contractors and specifically what we do to separate ourselves from the competition. This information is vital in making a decision on an investment that could cost thousands of dollars and, on the whole, our customers appreciate our thoroughness. Yes - you could find contractors who will do your project for less, but in remodeling, as in life, you tend to get what you pay for. At Power, we only do things "the right way" - which means our product quality, warranty service and installation processes are second to none. So not only will you have a premium product installed with AAMA ( American Architectural Manufacturers Association ) approved installation methods, but an entire warranty service division who are completely dedicated to follow-up service. If you'd like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to contact me directly using the information below. The company was extremely professional, the warrantee is fantastic, the materials used are top of the line, their quality department is on top of their game. The company has solid corporate and manufacturer backing to support their claims and warrantees. This was a little pricey, but worth every penny.

A representative from PHR was going to door to door and since we had been thinking about new windows for some time, we agreed to schedule an appointment for a presentation and price quote. The presentation went on for HOURS, but the kid was very sweet and knowledgeable. Being the typical cynical New Yorker, I was researching the company on the computer as he is giving me the whole dog and pony show. Although I am always skeptical of business's who are basically begging for your business.....everything seemed in line with what we were planning to do anyway. We agreed on a price, signed some papers, made an appointment for 2nd (double check) measurements and a walk through of what was do be done to make sure we were all on the same page. This appointment went off without a hitch. One this I can definitely say about this company is they are thorough, communicative, and prompt. Every call they said I would get, I got. Every visit, on time. NO surprises whatsoever. The day came to have the windows installed. My house was tremendously effected by Sandy so needless to say we've had our experience with contractors and it's usually unpleasant. This crew was the most polite, quiet, neat bunch I have ever met. They did everything they could to stay our of our way, they were fat working (I didn't even see them take a lunch break) pleasant, friendly and obviously very well trained. Oh, and they did not smoke, I loved that! The job (9 large double-hung windows) took about 6 hours, and after they left you wouldn't even know they were there. In fact I think they left the house and yard cleaner than it was when they arrived! A supervisor came to check-up on the job during the install, just as we we were told. This was the only part I did not like. He was very nice and checked on all the work being done and gave everything his seal of approval. However, afterwards, he basically tried to scare us into getting a new roof. Saying the existing one would not last another MONTH...I mean seriously? What a coincidence, YOU CAME JUST IN TIME, THANK HEAVENS!!!!!!!!!!! :) He pushed and pushed and pushed until we had to say it's not happening, we will call you when we need one, please stop. He left us a quote anyway for almost $16000, as I had never had a roof replaced, I had nothing to compare it to, but it seemed high. We in turn got a quote for $6300 (all cash discount) from the builders who did our neighbors complete demo and rebuild, also Sandy related damages. Complete rip-out or old roof, architecture black shingles, new skylight and bathroom vent install. So all in all I can say I think they run very expensive, but you do get what you pay for (with reason, I mean $16,000?!), and almost a year I could not be happier with the results. GORGEOUS windows, amazing workers and aside from the roof quote, I would recommend they for windows any day.

In this day and age, who does this anymore???? A random salesperson just happens to be in the neighborhood and persistently rings the doorbell to talk about home repairs??? Whatever happened to having courtesy to schedule an appointment? The salesperson was very nice and overly friendly (kind of wanted to be friends which I find creepy of someone I just met). He was persistent and when I cordially told him "now" is not a good time to talk, he wanted to make an appointment for tomorrow or later in the week. After telling him to drop a card in the mailbox and if I am interested I would schedule an appointment (thinking that would make him finally go away) he persisted to ask my name, if I was married, if I lived here long.... That is rude and intrusive!!!! You are an uninvited stranger at my door. Of course the saleperson was just doing his job but shame on this company for its unprofessional tactics.

Member, When we're in a neighborhood installing a project, we often talk to our customers' neighbors to see if they're familiar with our company, quality of work and level of service. As word of mouth amongst friends, family or neighbors is the best method of advertising, we're often able to help with their home remodeling needs as well. There is a built in level of trust in knowing that a neighbor, friend or family member has already had a positive experience with Power in the past and that level of comfort is important with an experience as intimate as remodeling one's home. While I'm sorry you did not enjoy your encounter with our representative, I'd ask you to not judge a book by its cover. We've recently been awarded Angie's List's Super Service Award for exemplary service in our field and that award is a testament to the type of products and services we provide for our customers. If you're in the market for home improvements, we'll treat your home as if it were our own and we will do the project the right way - the first time. With Power, you also receive one of the industry's strongest warranties - if there are any service related issues post-install, we'll be there to resolve the matter to your satisfaction. If you'd like to talk more about your experience, please feel free to contact me directly. Yours in Service, Ray Lodato Customer Advocacy Manager Power Home Remodeling Group 610.874.5000 x2260

The window job went very well. They followed me every step of the way, kept me in the loop the whole job. The windows are wonderful! After I had such a good experience with the windows, I decided to go ahead and let them insulate my attic. That job, however, didn't go as well. I was very disappointed. I was expecting the same kind of follow up and thoroughness. I had to reschedule a couple times, and one time they said they were in the neighborhood and they could come to the job then without notice. I didn't feel that the job was supervised by any sort of manager. I felt that the worker who sold me the insulation job wasn't communicating with me very clearly. I was under the impression they would replace the insulation all together, and put insulation in between the beams. Theres a door that goes into a storage room and it's now scraping along the insulation. When I addressed this to them, they handed me a roll of tape and told me to tape the door. I will not be doing business with them again. The job was $3700, and they didn't even have the supplies to tidy up after themselves, I had to give that to them. However, they came back and fixed everything and they did it exceptionally well. The job is done perfectly now.
Description of Work: They did a great job installing some windows in my home, but this insulation job didn't well.

It did not go well. I made the appointment for information with the specific instructions that I do not get the hard sell. Well it seems that the salesmen are taught to stick to a script. My salesman keep showing more information about his product before he would give me a price. I continuously asked him to get through his pitch and give me a price. I was about to ask him to leave when e finally relented and gave me a price. His initial price was $31,000; however, told me if I signed today, he would give it to me for $24,000 with special interest rates. I kindly asked him to leave and told him I was not interested. It is of interest about a week later I was called by my insurance company representative and told I need a new roof or I would not get renewed. When I asked when someone was at my home to determine this and how this was determined, I was told that he did not know and there was no way of finding out. I never heard from the insurance agent again about this matter. I am not saying that Power had anything to do with this, but found it awful coincidental. It was not a good experience.

Member, We visit hundreds of customers every day - the large majority of which are thrilled with their remodeling projects - but when we hear about an experience such as yours, we take it seriously, as we certainly don't intend to impart those feelings on our customers. From a pricing standpoint, the reason we're able to offer such a steep discount on the first visit is simply a matter of efficiencies. By offering our customers a steep discount for an agreement that evening, we effectively eliminate costs from the potential project as it pertains to return visits. It is more cost-effective for us to come to an agreement on cost if our customers are ready to move forward, and if we can come to an agreement, we push those cost savings right on to the customer for their trust in our products and team. At the same time, we realize asking customers to make a commitment on a large project in one evening is not something everyone can do. Therefore, we believe we offer other cost-effective options that allow you to consider Power while you schedule additional estimates are sit on the quote until you are ready down the line. We are extremely confident in our products, warranties and level of service and while we are transparent that we are not the cheapest game in town, we feel our customers will ultimately choose quality over the lowest bid. Our roof is pretty old and in poor shape, so we have been looking into companies to rip off the roof and replace. In addition to our online searches, companies have been knocking on our door pretty steadily and offering their services. Power Home remodeling was one of those companies. They knocked on the door and spoke to my wife. I wasn't home so she told them to come back tomorrow to speak with me. I had heard of this company through their radio advertisements, so I figured I would give them a chance. A representative named Mike came so speak with us the next day. Mike was a very nice guy and seemed to know what he was talking about, but I got that "salesman" vibe right away. Mike and I went on the roof and he went through all that would need to be done. We finally got down to the price. They quoted me almost $37,000 for a rip and replace, which was way higher than any other company. Admittedly, they use better products and techniques but the price was way higher than we could afford. Here is where the high-pressure tactics come in. Mike offered us a one-time discount if we signed on the dotted line right then and there. We said it was too much for us, but he wouldn't take no for an answer and told us that we could finance the job. We finally got him out of the house after about a two-hour visit. But they didn't stop there. Subsequently, I received not one, not two but three separate phone calls offering for a manager to come out, because they realized my job could be substantially discounted. I refused each time, and even though I refused I still received an email with an appointment date for a regional manager, which I had to cancel. I'm sure this company does good work...at least, I hope so for the price they charge. All the products and techniques that were offered were top of the line, but the price was way too high and I resented the pressure they placed on the homeowner during a stressful (and expensive) time.

The way this company works is they have young men/women go door to door soliciting work. If you agree then that person must call it in to someone else who takes your information and says they will call you back to set up an appointment to come and discuss. One, the door to door persons are nice and knowledgeable. But I do find it strange that they cannot simply take your information and have an appointment set up. Its almost as if the parent company doesn't trust them enough to take the information themself. In any event, on both occasions we were never contacted again for the visit.

The quality of the product stands out to me the most. Power Home Remodeling Group LLC's pricing is competitive and their professionalism is excellent. I would recommend them under the condition that the initial contact with them is having a service provider come out to demonstrate the product to you. You have to be prepared to dedicate about 3 hours of your time for that person to come into your home to explain the product to you. There's no way about it because they need to educate you about the product, why it costs what it does, and why they feel their product stands out versus everybody else which is great. If you don't have the time then make sure you have adequate time where you can because it will eat into your personal time which was a bit of a shock for us. The demonstration was informative, adequate, and because of the demonstration we did get the windows.

Representative came to the door and offered free roofing estimate and made an appointment. We recently (4 years ago) had 1/2 our roof done and their estimate would only be for a full job. They also insisted they could only do this if both myself and my wife were present. We cancelled the appointment. They called to reschedule and I stated I was no longer interested. They called back daily for a week, then weekly for a month, and I still get periodic calls which I refuse to take. So no, they didn't actually do anything wrong but they clearly are in the business of high pressure sales tactics. The liberally quote being invited to join a variety of business origanizations as a testament to their quality and professionalism but when I explored these it was impossible to find anything to indicate what criteria there were for member businesses in these organizations.

Gentleman comes in and and the first thing I told him was that I did some checking and found that most of the jobs they do cost about $20,000 and if that were the case, thank you, but I didn't want to waste his time knowing full well that I do not have that kind of money to spend. I'm rebuilding after Sandy and the funds are running out. He says that the price would depend on the size of the roof and they do financing and since it was a free estimate, I had nothing to lose. So, he goes into detail about how they do business, shows me the materials they will use, checks the roof. Long story short, he is very thorough, so thorough that it took 2 hours and I start getting ansy (knowing myself that I will probably agree to have them do the work) and ask him to please just give me the bottom line. How much is this going to cost me. Well, if I sign a contract today, the cost would be $18,000 ($307 per month for 5 years). If I wait, the cost would be $20,000 ($733 per month for 5 years). Keep in mind that these numbers might be off a few dollars. I told him that I would like to wait until Monday to decide since I wanted to run this by a family member since I am a single female and wanted someone with some knowledge to assure me that I was getting a good deal. He said, sorry, if I don't sign today the cost would be $733/month. Couldn't assure me that interest rates would not go up ???????? WHAT????? are you kidding me?????? Do the math. If I, in fact, signed today Monday, it would have cost me well over $40,000 for this roof. Sooo.........unless you are prepared to sign on the dotted line on the day you receive your free estimate, don't bother even calling this company. This is a disgrace. It's unfortunate because I probably would have used them,
Description of Work: Very polite young man knocks on the door, offering a free estimate for a new roof. Sets up an appointment for someone to come to my home the next day. A tale of two roofers: A Young man comes to my door and offers his company to do a free estimate on my roof. (Who doesn't do a free estimate?) He calls his supervisor to set up the appointment. He hands me his phone for me to confirm. He hands me a card with my appointment time written on it. Two hours later a company representative calls me to confirm the appointment and the age of my roof. The next day I missed their call at 7AM, missed their call at 8AM, and then I called them back to confirm again, although annoyed by all the calling. I wait for my 10:00 AM appointment. At 10:45 AM I call to ask if they are coming. They say "NO." The appointment was not confirmed? Wow. I look at my appointment card and get angry. I call back and we negotiate a new appointment for 1PM, which requires a 2 hour presentation not disclosed prior to scheduling the appointment. So after all this, they quote me a low $19,500 (without all the bells and whistles) if I sign that day or anywhere from $30,000-$50,000 for the work to be done in next year, depending on the selected work to be done. And they offer low interest financing! Oh, boy. Prior to their visit I had an estimate done by a local roofer, who had reviews of A+'s from Angie's List, for $13,500. Moral: Power Home Remodeling Group offers a quality product with a lot of hassle and an immense mark up. While they act professional, they need to keep it simple, like the local guy.
Description of Work: Power Home Remodeling made a presentation, badly.

Member, I'd like to apologize for the frustration you experienced. Our confirmation policy was created with the customer's convenience in mind - we know our customers are busy - many times 'life happens' in between the time our customers originally schedule their appointments and the actual appointment date. This is why we always attempt to get in touch with our customers shortly before the scheduled appointment in order to confirm and assure our appointment time still fits within their schedule. Clearly, in this case, there were communication difficulties that inconvenienced you. We certainly apologize for that and would like the opportunity to make it up to you should you ever be in need of energy efficient exterior remodeling products. If you'd like to discuss your experience further, please feel free to contact me directly. Yours in Service, Ray Lodato Customer Advocacy Manager Power Home Remodeling Group 610.874.5000 x2260

I got a knock on my door from this group asking if I wanted a free estimate on replacing my windows. I had been thinking about doing it anyway so I was willing to listen. The representative indicated that they were giving free estimates on window replacements (their own model not an Andersen or name brand) and they would be available today. They called the main office to schedule, and the office told them that the only time they had was the next morning at 9:00am. No big deal. I cleared my schedule and about 2 hours later I received another call from a representative looking to verify address and information. I did so and everything seemed to be going fine, then they asked if my girlfriend would be home... unfortunately she would be at work ,I told them, They responded by telling me they didn't want to come out as a result. I asked to talk to a supervisor and they told me that they only come out to homes with two adult occupants if both were home so that all questions could be answered of both spouses to cut down on their workload. I explained my situation and they wouldn't listen. I asked to talk to the supervisors' supervisor and he told me I could just leave a message. I refused and asked again for a transfer to a person who was his supervisor. He refused again. I explained to him that I was the customer, and the sole owner of the house and he still wouldn't bother listening. I informed him that his position was causing an inconvenience for me and he said he was trying to work with me to which I responded that he clearly wasn't since he wasn't sending someone out as I requested. He then slipped and indicated that HE WAS DOING ME A COURTESY AS A FREE ESTIMATE and inferred that MY BUSINESS WASN'T AS IMPORTANT as a customer who had paid for the estimate. I would never use them to do anything. They're sneaky, they lie and they aren't willing to work with customers.
Description of Work: Lied about a free estimate

They were much more expensive compared to other companies. They kept calling even when I didn't use them so their marketing was very aggressive. That was a major problem.

The sales staff has an impressive presentation on the roofing system; it's not just tar-paper and shingles. This is a GAF architectural roof with a 50-year transferable warranty. It's also hurricane proof (they use it in Florida too). If there's any problem with the roof GAF will take care of it. One of the details in the warranty requires 6 nails per shingle (some installers use only 4, that voids the warranty). You might want to price other installers and details before Power Home Remodeling gives you a quote. They tend to be a little high-pressure on sales. They are very responsive if you have questions or issues. Roofing materials were delivered 3 June. The crew came on the morning of 4 June. They put plywood panels against the house to protect the plants and shrubs and tarps around other areas. They brought a dump truck so there wouldn't be a dumpster sitting in the drive for a few days. They removed the old roof, repaired any rotted spots, and proceeded to install the new roof system. It has a lot of good features including protection against water getting in from an ice dam, and peak ventilation. In addition, all the caps of vents (kitchen and baths) were replaced with color-coordinated weather-proof caps. The new roof looks nice from any angle. Due to an internal miscommunication, they trashed my TV antenna, so I had no TV for a few days (check out my write up on "TV antenna installers"). To their credit, they admitted the error and paid for a replacement TV antenna and installation. When the install was completed, they had a large magnet device on wheels with a handle which they ran over the lawn around the house to pick up nails. I did find more nails around although I tried to keep the garage and driveway clear. On 8 June I found a roofing nail in a front tire, so had to get that repaired. I suggested they might want to use the magnet around the driveway and maybe into the street after they move the dump truck out of the way. On 5 June when I switched on my kitchen range hood, it wasn't drawing air. In the process of removing the old roof, debris had fallen down the rectangular ductwork and was lodged in the elbow against the backdraft flap preventing the hood from drawing. I pulled the elbow off, disassembled the ductwork, dumped out the debris and reassembled it. Works like new. On 24 June they came early afternoon with a new door for the rear of the garage. The old one had rusted and rotted from the sprinkler hitting it (since adjusted). The new one is much nicer than a garage needs, but it is maintenance free. Mike and Larry did a really nice job on the install. This door is better than the other ones on the house. Nicely sealed and trimmed. They even covered some treated wood I had installed years ago outside the door underneath the aluminum sill to support it. One of the agreements for the roof installation was to retain the gutter guards. I found a piece of gutter guard behind some shrubs and noticed there were additional sections missing. Project Manager Brian Smith got some new pieces and made sure everything was in place before they picked up and left. Overall: great products, great service.
Description of Work: In two phases: replaced the old roof; replaced the rear door on the garage.
