I was very impressed with them. They sent me a very nice package. We had Hurricane Sandy, and he couldn't come to see me until December because they were busy, so I called them and asked them if they could come in May. They sent me different testimonials from customers, and they sent me a beautiful booklet saying exactly how they do things, because some people have crawl spaces, and some people have water damage. I was impressed, because a lot of people do that. I told them that I wasn't sure if I was going to do it, and they said they would send me a brochure, and I could look at it and decide. I then went to Angie's List, and they had an A rating. When I called, I spoke to a receptionist, and they called me back. I have not yet used them, as they will be coming in May. 06/20/14 The installation of the basement windows was absolutely phenomenal. I can't rate this company high enough. They did a wonderful job. They are so very professional about their business. Anyone that has any basement issues, the first company that you should call is Adirondack basement systems.
Description of Work: I have corresponded with Adrindocak Basement Systems. I have him coming in May to give me an estimate for basement windows. 06/20/14 That Adrindocak Basement System came and did the install of the basement windows on 06/18/14.

Kevin Koval (President of company) arrived for scheduled initial site review on time (8/29/13). He looked over damage to wall, listened to my concerns, and took photos of site. He discussed some options and said he needed to consult with his mason contractor before he would be able to provide an estimate of repair costs. He said that once mason had chance to review site, I would be contacted with an estimate of cost and time to complete repair. It took several weeks for Mason, Nick Flannery, to call me to schedule his visit for site review. After Mason's site review, it took another few weeks for Kevin to get back to me with cost estimate, $3,200.00, which was $500.00 lower than another company's estimate. I accepted estimate and was told that once he could make arrangements with mason, they would contact me with a schedule for starting work. Nick Flannery arrived the day prior to start day to drop off equipment and supplies. Nick arrived promptly, and excavator operator arrived shortly afterward to begin work. Excavation was completed on first day, and Nick began removing damaged block wall once a reinforcing system had been installed to support upper floor while wall was being repaired. I was very impressed with the level of professionalism Nick displayed while working. but, he was also willing to explain what he was doing, and why, when ever I had any questions. It took three days to complete all the repairs to wall. I was very satisfied with the results. I was very satisfied with the results of the overall project and would not hesitate to call either Adirondack Basement Systems or Nick Flannery in the future for any basement or masonry projects I may have.
Description of Work: Excavated portion of basement/garage wall, removed damaged blocks and rebuilt wall and corner support column.

Forman Austin, and his crew-Chris and Dave, worked from they minute they arrived till they left. They were very professional and very neat. Austin explained how the system worked and answered all of my questions. I am extremely happy to see the difference in the look of my basement with the White Walls, and no water showing - just the quiet sound of the Triple Safe pump working. Would recommend this company to anyone.
Description of Work: Installed 120' Flangeless WaterGuard sub-floor drainage system along with PolyDrain, WG Ports, 3' TrenchDrain and 120' BrightWall Paneling. Installed TripleSafe pump systems with US battery back-up, IceGuards, LawnScape Outlet and interior/exterior plumbing.

This company is EXCELLENT. Their communication is great. They arrived at the scheduled time, were polite, friendly and very accommodating . They work very hard to make sure you are satisfied with the job. They were very knowledgeable and answered all our questions completely. When the job was complete the clean-up was thorough. I think my garage was cleaner when they left than when they started. Their prices are fair and reasonable and the workmanship is superior. I would not hesitate to hire them again and highly recommend them to anyone with a wet basement problem - they will make the problem disappear!

Arrived promptly and finished the job in about 7 hours. They did not make a mess and cleaned up before they left. There were two men performing the work and their supervisor stopped by half way through to walk us through what they were doing and if we had any questions. They showed us how to monitor the pump and use the dehumidifier. Our basement is now much warmer and dryer than before. They did a great job, although I think the cost was slightly too high. If we ever have water damage or need basement work done again, I would call them.
Description of Work: Replaced old sump pump with new pump and battery back up system. Installed dehumidifier and duct work in basement. Replaced about 3 feet of the sump pump drainage line outside the house.

The installation went well, with everything done as planned. It cost me a bit under $10,000. I was satisfied with the job, until-- a year later (and 10 weeks after a $134 annual service call), the $2000 dehumidifier failed. It failed when I needed it most, during an extended wave of high humidity. I discovered this failure in the evening, finding gallons of water on my basement floor. I tried to contact the company to arrange an urgent service call for the next day, and found that, amazingly, they do not have evening/weekend coverage for emergencies. The next day, I arranged for a technician to come to the house. He found that the tubing (which should have been cleaned out or replaced at the $134 annual service call) was nearly blocked with some kind of sludge. He also found that the unit was not level-- something else that should have been done on installation, and certainly should have been noticed during the $134 annual service call 10 weeks earlier. According to the tech, these things contributed to something in the unit shorting out, and the coil became crusted with a thick coating of ice, causing several gallons of water to leak out onto the floor. The tech told me it would be very simple to fix, but the ice had to melt first. He cleaned out the tubing and leveled the unit, and told me that I had to replace the air filter, which I'd been told was done at the $134 annual service. The unit needed a day to thaw before the tech could work on it, but the next day was a holiday. He said he wasn't working on day following the holiday either, and a weekend followed that. He told me to call the office on Monday, (5 very hot and humid days later). I called the next day, to report that the unit had thawed and to request service from a different tech before the weekend I was told that they only had one other tech, and he was booked solid, so I was out of luck until the following week. This meant that the $2,000 dehumidifier was out of service during what was the hottest and most humid week of summer. Late on Monday afternoon, the tech came and made the repair in no time. He had just driven a far distance to get to my home as his last call of the day, which I greatly appreciated. He clearly was very knowledgeable and skilled. There was no charge for the repair. The next day, I called the office to request a refund of the $134 annual service charge, and I really had to press to just get a partial credit for the dehumidifier potion of the service. They tried to insinuate that the unit got out of level AFTER the annual service because of kids, grandkids or pets bumping into it- but no one goes down to that level, and I don't go down there myself except to check mechanicals. Furthermore, the 'refund' was issued in the form of a voucher that I will have to hang on to present for a break on next year's service. What are the odds that people lose these slips of paper during the year? Talk about nickel and diming the customer! So, I was satisfied with the work performed by this company overall, but unhappy with what I later found was essentially a poorly-done annual service call. I was also very unhappy that this company which installs expensive sump pumps and dehumidifiers under warranty does not provide after-hours coverage or weekend/holiday coverage for emergencies. I was told that they only have two repair techs. I suggested to an office staffer that they should consider hiring more techs, and she simply said, "That's not in the plans at his time." She also tried to console me when I expressed worry at having to wait 5 very humid days for my repairs by saying, "You're lucky. We have one lady who's been waiting over two weeks."
Description of Work: In early 2012, I had a new sump pump installed, crawl space drainage pipes installed and buried, and had the entire crawl space encapsulated. I also had a large dehumidifier and pump installed in the basement adjacent to the crawl space. I had annual service of both in early 2013, followed by equipment failure requiring repairs in mid-2013.

Punctual estimator. Very knowledgeable and experienced in this line of work. After a couple of delays, the crew came and I am VERY pleased with their work. The crew chief saw a couple of ways to improve on the original estimator's design with no added cost. They were quite conscientious in their work, left the basement clean, removed all the detritus such a job entails. I originally was going to use another contractor and am very glad I did not.

Description of Work: A rep. From this company came and gave us an estimate for waterproofing our crawl space. We were looking for a quote and information on foundation repair. We again asked if someone could address that request. The salesman said that he would have to ask around the company to see if that was something they do. Oddly enough they advertise foundation repair so II didn't think we had an odd request. Anyway,we were told over and over someone would look at the foundation and get in touch with us. After numerous phone calls and promises we never heard anything. So, I hit the Internet looking for someone for the job. Their website came up and our request for info. Our initial correspondence as via the Internet. Well, that request appeared under happy customers. I guess you can't trust those Company website reviews. Can not recommend this company.

Since receiving this review, our owner spoke to this customer again and reiterated that while we do offer foundation repair services, there are instances when the foundation is too damaged for our company to repair. We would not sell something that would not fix the problem and therefore referred this customer to a contractor that could help. As for our website, we only post testimonials from customers that willingly fill out our survey or send us a testimonial. What was seen on our website was a map that includes those customer testimonials & reviews as well as work requests that come through our website. This particular homeowner was shown on this map as a work request- I have since removed this work request from our site per the homeowner's request. We appreciate the reviews and do our best to make sure that everyone we talk to, whether we do business with them or not, are fully satisfied with our company.

I did not have services performed, but they responded quickly to my estimate request, arrived on time for the appointment for the estimate, and the estimator explained as he reviewed what he expected would be needed to be done. The estimate was comprehensive and fully explained everything in detail. They offered financing options and offered optional services which would make the repair much better. Unfortunately, I was aware that the work was going to be extensive and while their rates were exceptional for what I believe is quality services, we could not afford to hire them at that time. We will definitely be calling them again as soon as we are financially capable of making the repairs.

The initial visits were professional and friendly. I was told that my problem was easily solved with a system that would push water out to a port in my front lawn. The installation went flawlessly. It was well done and professional. However, I didn't realize at the time how much water was being pushed out even during dry times, but it turns out, it was a lot. (Note: the Company never measured the flow rate either, but evidently they should have done so.) After they installed that system, I wound up with a moat across the front of my house. My Town notified me they wanted it remediated and also told me that a permit had never been filed. That was a shock because the permit was included on the itemized invoice the company gave me. That's where the trouble REALLY began: 1) The company apparently forgot to get a permit. If they had, they would've learned that the Town doesn't allow outflow to the front of the house and that they also don't allow tie-ins to the sewer (which, frankly, the Company should've known as this is the core of their business). Had I known that, I probably wouldn''t have shelled out $10k for the system. Too late. 2) The Town required me to remove the outflow port out front and install a dry well in the back yard. Major project. When Adirondack said it would cost me a lot for them to do that, I reminded them that they were the ones who forgot the permit and said they need to take responsibility for the mistake. To their credit, they did. On their dime, they filed a new plan with the Town, got a permit (I saw it this time) and proceeded to re-do the basement piping, tear up my entire back yard, dig a 8' diameter hole (6'deep, where the water line was) and filled it in with small stones. A pipe was installed in a trench from my house to the pit (see pictures if I can figure out how to insert them). All of the interior work went well. Very professional and smartly done. 3) The exterior work was far less stellar. I now have a small pond in my backyard and the ground is muddy and sinking. I called a landcaper and learned that the dry well should've been lined with fabric/mesh to prevent dirt from clogging up the rocks, but the company did not do that. As a result, the longevity of the pit is a question. I do, however, have a very nice dry basement. I am having landscapers come in (at my expense) to rehabilitate the lawn and re-level it but all this could've been avoided if Adirondack had just gotten a permit and been more attentive to the amount of water they were dealing with. Thus my overall grade of a "C" . If you use them, be sure to ask a lot of questions and see the permit before they begin.
Description of Work: We had a wet basement that would take in and get covered by about 1/2" of water every rainstorm. I smashed through a low point in the floor and put in a sump pump and diverted water via PVC to the street out front. This reduced the problem a bit, but we still had large puddles and had to wade through them to our washing machine. I had the company waterproof the basement. They replaced my jury-rigged sump pump with a new system, filled the old hole, installed a water-catch system around the base of the walls and covered the walls with a heavy platic sheeting. They were supposed to send water out to the front yard but we ran into issues (see below).

We appreciate your feedback regarding the work that Adirondack Basement Systems has done for you. While we always strive to get every job 100% right, we are sorry to admit that the permit for your work had been overlooked. Once filed, the only option the city allowed us, was to move the discharge line to the backyard and we did do everything in our power to rectify the situation including covering the cost of the Dry Well and the work necessary to move the discharge line to the back yard. Unfortunately, this leaves the ground wet. We apologize for the inconvenience and are glad to hear your basement is now dry.

The team was punctual and professional, as neat as possible (jack-hammering is very messy business) and finished on time. Upon completion, they took the time to thoroughly explain the system and its maintenance. Dealing with this company was a pleasure. The only reason they don't get straight A's is that they are a bit pricey, but I have no regret paying extra for the quality system they installed. The air quality of my entire home improved drastically, it was worth every penny.

See narrative above. Over all it went well. Had the timeline for installation been critical, for example if I was selling the house the delay would have been a problem. As it was, it really didn't make a difference.
Description of Work: A representative came to the house. He explained what and why they used as basement windows, gave me an estimate and took measurements. They also explained to me why there was no need to do other work on the basement that other companies were 'scaring me" into doing. Unfortunately, six weeks later when they came to install the windows, the workers discovered that all of the windows were of the wrong size. They remeasured, and six weeks later installed the windows. They did an excellent job. Worked swiftly, neatley and professionally. They cleaned up after themselves, but said they could not take and dispose of insulation materials and other debris that they had to remove to do the work. Except for the delay and leaving some debris for me to dispose of, I was very satisfied with their work and would recommend the company to others

The estimator showed up on time. Very nice fellow. Showed us what we needed for code and what their options are. We went with the cheapest window (which was the style we wanted anyway) and the cheapest well, for approx $3700. We talked to other contractors and they either were way higher or were lower but balked when asked specific questions. They have a $100 coupon in the paper. I was told by the estimator that they do not offer veterans or affiliations discount.. After the job was done I found out that they do in fact offer a veterans discount through our county Return The Favor program. Called them and faxed over the info they requested. They refunded the discount in less than a week. Very pleased with that! The foreman showed up around 8am and went over with me what they will do and to see if I had any special concerns. He figured out a way to minimize lawn damage (there was none after). They (he and two workers) brought over a Bobcat and got right to work. They made minimal cuts to the existing framing and carefully removed the insulation. They weren't a bother and didn't get in our way. They were patient with me when I kept popping in to check up and ask questions. Job completed about 5 hours later. The foreman explained to me everything they did, and how to operate and care for the window. They cleaned up. No mess left behind. They even moved and replanted a cherished lilac bush that was in the way. Overall a satisfactory experience. My only concern was that, when the foreman went offsite, the laborers used my power drill and not their own. Without asking first. They did not damage it. I think the foreman left them tool-less and they didn't want to stop work and wait for him. They seemed to take pride in leaving the smallest evidence of their visit. We plan on doing a Bilco door in a couple years and will call them first.
Description of Work: We needed an egress window installed in our basement to comply with code before we finish the basement.
