It was a complex project. They were very careful with their procedures and raised sunken concrete sections next to the house and around a pool to allow for drainage. They filled the major cracks. They were courteous and on-time over several days. After many years the water in the basement problem has been resolved.

100% professional right from the first contact! System designerworked (literally) for hours, photographing and measuring the work area then gave a clear & detailed presentation of the project. Austin Putnam's work crew arrived on day scheduled and on time (after calling to say they were on the way), worked diligently but not quietly (jackhammers DO make noise!), explained what they were doing and returned two days later to test the system. Cleaned the work area better than they received it and even put a small amount of cement in the entryway when there was a significant depression . "It was a trip hazard", he observed. It was a pleasure having them around and would definitely recommend them. I deliberately waited to submit this review until I had experienced a significant rain event, and everything was fine. Even heard a soft noise...the sump pump quietly doing its job.

I had a bid to remove my basement concrete, remove 4" of dirt and re-pour a high psi concrete floor. We were also getting a sump pump, perimeter drainage, and an egress window. The job was going to take 2 weeks and cost just over $40k. It's been almost 1.5 months since the job began and my basement is a pit of mud. Adirondack Basement Systems has a major issue with management and they have been terrible to work with. The two guys that have done most of the concrete work have been very nice and courteous and are doing the best they can. Management on the other-hand have been ridiculous. I am really hoping that ABS finishes this job soon, but I'm not sure that is going to happen. Currently, besides the pit of mud in my basement, I have a 4' x 4' hole cut into my back patio, a sump hose lying in my front lawn, and no way to access my breaker box which is in the basement (yes, I have a breaker that popped and no way to turn it back on). Besides all of this, I also had sewage backing up into my basement. This was eventually fixed by a plumber, but was certainly disgusting. Adirondack Basement Systems has made no attempts to get this job finished. They say they'll call with a plan, and then I hear nothing but crickets. I would either avoid this company altogether, or have a completion clause written into the contract.

From initial meeting with sales representative through installation, staff was knowledgeable, professional and performed good work. The products were thoroughly explained to us and why it could alleviate the dampness and odor in our basement. So far (four months in), it appears to be working. We were told the time the installers would be here; on the day of install they encountered an issue with their truck which delayed their arrival. The team leader called us immediately and advised us of the issue then called an hour later to tell us they were on their way. They were respectful of our home and kept the mess to a minimum (there will be dust from the jackhammering!). They explained everything they were going to do as they went along (my husband asked). The work was completed in 2 1/2 days.

Although we had quite a long wait because he was on vacation, we were very impressed with the engineer who came to our home to determine what needed to be done and put together our quote. Unfortunately, that was the last good impression we had and the last time we saw an actual employee of Adirondack Basement. Keeping in mind that this job didn't involve installing a brand new egress window, but rather replacing an existing one and simply deepening the outside window well, we were a bit shocked at the pricing. Given that we were paying a "Cadillac" price we were surprised to receive "Chevy" level service from a subcontractor rather than an Adirondack Basement employee. We were particularly disappointed that neither the engineer nor any other Adirondack Basement employee visited the site during or after the installation to confirm that it was done according to the engineer's specs. In fact, the subcontractor made a change to the specs to save time (and presumably money for himself) and the engineer never knew or approved that change. While we understood that Adirondack Basement would not "finish" the window trim etc and we were comfortable doing that ourselves, we were again disappointed that the subcontractor left the window well completely uninsulated and essentially open to the elements. Only after we pressed him, did he grudgingly add a can of spray insulation. We expressed our disappointment to Adirondack Basement and were given a modest price concession but we feel that the price we paid still far exceeded the quality of the services provided.

We've lived in this (55 year old) house for the past 12 years, and we've always had to deal with a periodic water problem in the basement. and wet weather exacerbates the problem. A few months ago things became much worse when our poured cement foundation developed three leaks, allowing water to flow freely into the basement. I called in four or five contractors to recommend a solution, and I was most impressed by Adirondack's analysis, which actually called for less work than most of the others (and of course, less money). The other contractors all insisted that a floortile system be installed to direct water into a new sump system, but Adirondack felt that our existing French drain would serve that purpose. They installed their "Super Sump" system, piped outdoors into a bubble pot. Repairing the wall cracks wasn't possible due to the deteriorated condition of the cement, so they recommended BrightWall panels, which served two purposes: they cover the ugly walls (and brighten the basement) and force any leaking water directly below into the French drain. I've deliberately waited until now (six weeks later) to write this review because I wanted to get an idea of how their system would work. I'm happy to say that the system has worked beautifully. I'm very happy with Adirondack. They were very professional to deal with, their estimator was experienced and didn't try to sell me the moon, and their work crew and job site supervisor were great.

I had to wait until a few days before the install date to find out when the actual install would take place. When they did arrive (late) they said it was a 1 day job for 3 men, but I was originally told it was a 2 day job... And only 2 installers showed up for the 3 man job. I was also told by the sales man that there would be no addtitional charges for anything that they didn't provide in the estimate... Yet, I was told it would be "better" if they did another line install for a 2nd sump pump I had. And there was a charge for it. Once I went over the job with them, I left to go to work.....They called to say they couldn't finish the job that day and would be back the next. When I came home from work the first day, I was very surprised to find out they left the front door open. Yes, open. My neighbor came by to make sure I was OK because he said he was very surprised to see my house wide open and my car no where around. He wasn't the only one that was surprised. So was I! I met them at the house the next morning, and expressed my displeasure at the home being left wide open. They DID apologise, but that wouldn't have helped if my house wasn't still intact. I rec'd a call from the installer that they were finishing up and had land fill to get rid of at the end of the 2nd day. They asked if it was OK to dump it in the depressed area near my neighbor's fence. I said yes, but when I came home, it was spread all over the lawn, including all of the stones and rocks that were in the fill. Where before I had grass, I now had a nice rocky bare spot. No where near the depressed are in the lawn by the fence. And I had made plans to have some jacks put in, but they had to be ordered and I had other work I needed done before I wanted them to come back.... So, guess what I got from them? A bill for the jacks that they installed.... When they never actually installed them. I have not had the encapsulation system in long enough to see any real benefit yet, but am not very pleased with the contact and professionalism so far.
Description of Work: The provider replaced a sump pump, installed an encapsulation system in the crawl space, installed doors on the entry windows/points of entry and ran the discharge to an outlet.

I am sincerely sorry there were some issues with your installation. After reviewing your account, it looks like we tried many times to contact you with no response. When we were able to touch base, we apologized and told you we would do whatever we could to make the situation right including having Kevin come over to take a look at your home. We had set up a time for Kevin to come out and meet with you and you had to cancel the appointment. We have tried several times to contact you to have Kevin come out so we could make sure you were happy with the final product. We do apologize for the issues with the foreman on your job. He had been with us for many years, but was in the process of trying to move out of state when your job was done- the foreman was let go immediately when we became aware that these issues had occurred. We did send you an invoice for the Smart Jacks prematurely- our controller was unaware at the time that you were having these installed at a later date. We also apologized for this and took 10% off of that secondary installation as well as sent our Project Manager back out to your home to clean up the stone that had been dropped in your yard and replanted grass seed. Again, I sincerely apologize for the issues you had, but we worked very hard to communicate with you and rectify all of the issues. This is NOT how our company operates and again this foreman was let go as soon as we became aware of the issues. We would still like to make this right. If there is anything else we can do for you, please give our office a call and we will do our best to fix thist.

They are coming Monday! We are going on vacation and we wanted to get this done before then. They called and wanted to know if we could change our date because something came up. They actually moved our appointment up, which was good for me. They are really right on the ball with everything. I have been happy with them so far! For what they are going to be doing, their pricing is fair. They explained every inch of what they are going to do and what is going to be used. They were very professional and they brought a laptop to show us exactly what it would look like when it was done. They even explained what kind of sump pumps and humidifiers they would use. The overall amount of knowledge they imparted on us was incredible!

We have to pump out water every spring, so dealing with sump pumps is nothing new. This year, the area where our sump pump is located had pretty much caved in, so the pump wasn't able to function properly. My husband hired this company to fix the problem. They dug out the old container and put in a new one, which is a good thing, but for some reason, instead of using the existing pipe/outlet for the water to pump out under our driveway into a ravine, they cut a second hole in the basement wall to pump the water into our yard instead. If I had been there when they were doing the work, I would not have agreed with doing it this way. They showed up on time and fixed the immediate problem, but I think that they charged a lot more than what the job was worth, and did things that were not necessary. My husband seemed satisfied with the end result, but I personally would not hire them in the future.

The nice thing was they came in and did the estimate. They didn't push extra things at you that you may or may not want. They looked at what you needed and listened to what you needed. When they got to do the job they ran into an issue that was totally unforeseen and no one would have realized until you lift up the concrete floor. They just kept going and that didn't hang up. The guy called the boss and told the problem. They were great and flexible. They figured out the problem right on the job and they didn't leave us. The system just works and that is wonderful. Last summer, we lost power and several of our neighbours flooded their basements but our system kicked right on and pumps all the water out and that was a really good test. We've been very pleased. The guys who came for the annual maintenance were great and it's well worth the maintenance. They come in and clean, put in new parts to your pumps and service everything. It's not just like they come and look at it. They were courteous, professional and clean up after themselves.
