Country Fence & Deck

John and Stacey are both wonderful. Beautiful quality workmanship, courteous, willing to work with me every step of the way. Took the time to explain exactly what was to be done and updated me and my husband throughout the project. Cleaned up every day, workers were great. Felt like I had family working here. Treated my home as if it was theirs. I would HIGHLY recommend this company!!

They were prompt, the quote was very acceptable, and they cleaned up and told me that if I have any problems they will come right over and fix it! I highly recommend them!

John was very prompt when providing a quote, and had very competitive pricing. He took the time to explain different options , and gave us +/-'s to consider. John was very accurate in his measuring. Once we decided to go ahead with the project, John confirmed all the measurements and finalized the details. When it came time for the install- John and Joe were very professional, making sure that everything was to our satisfaction, leaving no mess behind. . The Fence looks great. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to our friends.

John and Stacey his wife are the owners and are complete liars and they have no business building decks or giving estimates for decks. He is the worst finishing carpenter I have EVER seen. He can not even cut 45 degree cuts in decking without making it look like a child did it. If anyone wants to message me for pictures of what this incompetent contractor did to my timber-tech material please feel free. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY HOMEADVISOR REVIEWS. Also in the contract he was to take 50% for materials upfront (paid by cc) and 50% upon completion (never even told them I was paying the second payment by cc). He charged my cc the balance two days before finishing the work. Than he blames his wife for doing it and she gives you some BS reason why she did it. Buyer beware. PLEASE DO NOT GET SCAMMED LIKE I DID.

Having had issues with contractors in the past, I really tried to cover all bases before going ahead with the project. John was very patient with my need to discuss all aspects of the work to be done. Almost all the work was done just OK, however there were also a few things that were not done. The space between the rail heading and my columns were to be filled with caulking , but he didnt do that. When I mentioned it, he said he didnt have the correct caulk. That shouldnt have been my problem. Also there was quite a gap between the decking and the side of my hottub. He had some reason behind it, but he really should have mentioned it when doing the work. When he removed the old railings there were some holes left in the columns from the old screws and even a couple of screws that he needed to cut off leaving the nubs sticking out. There were also remains from the old railings that needed to be sanded down. He told me when I have the columns painted the painter will have to take care of it. I never said anything about having anything painted! Why should I have to pay the painter extra for something John should have taken care of? Also he expected final payment minutes after finishing the work. I didnt really have sufficient time to go around and properly examine the work done. I was at the house the whole time, I think he could have discussed some of these things as they came up. Also the clean up was rather rushed and not done well at all. He didnt do all he said he would do (granted, I didnt make him write it all in the estimate....my fault for trusting him.) Wish I could recommend him, but considering how he and his wife (who started out as sweet as sugar) changed from before to after payment, and considering what he did and didnt do, no, I cant recommend him. If others are happy with his work, thats great for them, but for $16,000 (which is a hell of a lot of money for me) I think I should have had better results.

Workmanship is supurb, John the owner & installer was up front, honest and knew exactly what I was interested in.

Original Review: Their rating on HomeAdvisor is highly overrated. It has been two weeks of hell. A True Professional takes pride in their work. These guys do not know the meaning of pride. In the end we did not get the quality we expected and what we were promised. Never Again! We hired Country Fence and Deck because we could get the deck and fence done by the same company. What a mistake. These guys are everything but professionals. Slow and shabby workmanship. My wife cried after seeing the deck. I hope they can fix their mistakes. I would not recommend Country Fence & Deck to anyone. You can not believe a word they say. If it is not in writing, you are out of luck and money. UPDATED REVIEW: I have never bothered to write a review even when I was not satisfied with the workmanship. But I have to reply to Country Fence and Decks response to Anthony As review on 9/24/2018. All lies. We picked out the fence and deck together from the brochures that the owner John showed us. The fence was a vinyl fence with white & grey vertical slats. It also had a white slat horizontally about 1/3 from top. When John came to install the fence, there was no white horizontal bar. After Anthony questioned him, John said it was no longer available. Did he think we were not going to notice!! He did get the horizontal slats after the fact but they are now just a cosmetic add on and not the original which should have gone thru the posts as added support. Also, you can tell he did not take care in measuring before installing as the gates have large gaps in them and I lost a good foot of space from my backyard on one side due to poor measuring. It is been less than a year and a section has already blown down and the top line of the fence is no longer straight. Also, at first meeting he offered to replace a small 4ft section of wood stockade fence by the garage for free. It was not that important to me since it was functional and not that noticeable but he offered to do it for free, why not. Well, that small section was replaced with a white picket fence that went beyond the end of the garage. Now it was noticeable! It was a ridiculous replacement. I asked him to remove it and put back something similar to what was there. I guess that is what he is calling $1,000 in free work! Do not offer to replace something for free if it is a ridiculous replacement! Now onto the deck. What a disaster!! I can not believe John has ever done a deck before. We choose composite decking and asked if he could do a curve around one end of the pool. But once he started he realized he could not do it, so it ended up being on an angle. No big deal but as a so-called experienced professional deck builder, he should have known that beforehand. Anthony was at the house during all this while I was at work. He was sending me pictures of the process and I could not believe what I was seeing. John had no idea how to cut the corners. I have never built a deck but I could have done better. HomeAdvisor really needs to allow pictures to see the workmanship (or lack of) from the companies they are allowing on their site. The space between the planks are all different. And this summer I had grass growing up thru the spaces. No barrier was placed underneath. For one of the pool skimmer covers, he actually screwed the cover onto the deck piece! Again, it is not even a year and the boards are popping up already. I could continue with all the things that are wrong but I think pictures would say it better than I can. I would be happy to send anyone pictures if they want. A picture is worth a thousand words. I will also be making a complaint with the BBB.

My porch deck was completely bulrushes while I was at work. Fast and convenient .

They r good but they could use teaching on cleaning up.

They stayed in touch every step of the way to make sure they installed the right fence just the way we wanted. When it rained for days delaying start of project they kept us informed. They cleared up just as they said they would. Very happy with the work & cleanup.

I would definitely recommend Country Fence to anyone needing a fence re-placed. So happy with the work they did re-placing our old fence with new. :)

Our new deck came out fabulous! John and his crew were on time, did excellent work, and left my yard clean every day. Would definitely recommend country fence and deck. Family member used them and deck came out great. Five stars all around!!
