Michael J Mahoney

Michael was the perfect man for the job. Too many times in Manhattan it is difficult to find just one qualified person (versus some large Contracting firm that needs to cover its overhead) to do a small job, no middlemen, just you, the job and the person who will bring it to perfect completion! And this was Michael Mahoney in my case and I can not recommend him highly enough. Not only was the whole experience effortless and stress free, the room came out beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Michael was a pleasure to work with and an expert craftsman.

The work went very well. It was done over a week when my husband and I were away; after reading the glowing reviews in angieslist and meeting with Michael, we felt confident that he was trustworthy and would complete the job before our return. We returned home to find all the painting completed satisfactorily (in some areas even better than expected), and the apartment cleaned up. Dealing with Mike was a pleasure.

Michael is a top-notch professional. After initially hiring a someone else to remove wallpapering from my kitchen walls and paint it, the person almost destroyed my kitchen walls by not taking off all of the adhesive left from the installation of wallpapering AND then this person painted over the residue leaving my kitchen walls lumpy and unsightly. I hired Michael to come in to repair the damage and he did an excellent job. Michael skimmed coated my kitchen walls, primed and painted my kitchen with semi gloss latex.

I cannot say enough positive things about my experience with Michael and his crew. I found him just as you are doing now through Angie's List. Michael is a pleasure to work with. He is an incredibly honest and humble man who takes great pride in his work and is diligent on the job in all ways. Michael phoned back within 10 minutes of my emailing me and discussed my estimate in length. I had already gotten an estimate from another provider several days earlier for $8,000 which seemed incredibly high and I was really apprehensive that Michael would quote me the same. Because our home is a complicated floor plan we agreed it would be best for him to come over and do an estimate with a partner who would be assisting him Steve. Michael and Steve came the next day, spent about 30 minutes going through the home and gave me an estimate of $5,000 which included materials. I couldn't believe that Michael was able to lower the original estimate by $3,000. I went ahead and booked him! Michael, Steve and their assistant Bonnie arrived 2 days later to begin painting. Every evening they would tell me what minor prep work needed to be done by us (moving fragile things etc) and arrived promptly the next morning to begin. Our home was diligently cared for and there is not a drop of paint on anything but the walls. Michael finished exactly according to schedule, I paid exactly what was estimated and our home is stunning as a result of using his services. I'm a pretty discerning homeowner with high taste and appreciation for excellent service. I will be using Michael again in the near future to wallpaper a bedroom accent wall and plan on using him for all future painting and wallpapering needs. I highly suggest you use Michael, I can already promise you you will be highly satisfied.

Overall, the experience went well. He was responsive, professional, showed up when he was supposed to, and good. I am happy with his services and I would recommend him.

Overall the job went very well. Mike responded quickly from the start. His price was very reasonable. He finished the job sooner that expected and kept the place neat & tidy. We are very pleased and will recommend him to friends ! Thanks Mike !!

I called Michael to get an estimate on painting my one bedroom apartment. He returned the call promptly and was polite and professional. Because he was on a job that would not be finished for a couple of weeks, he referred me to someone with whom he has worked before. I am very pleased with the referral and the work that was done by the person he referred me to.

Michael really bailed us out. I was going to repaint the kitchen myself and got as far as priming over the previous dark color, but ran out of time to finish before we turn the apt. over to a housesitter while we're away. Michael immediately responded to my e-mail inquiry and said he'd be able to help us out on very short notice, and he did the job a few days later, on the weekend. Others I contacted on AL never responded at all. Michael did a great job and is a total pro--I would definitely hire him again and recommend him to everyone.

I highly recommend Michael. He was very flexible and patient with me even though I decided some of the paint colors at the last minute. He worked very efficiently and finished the job quickly and well. The apartment looks so much better! I will definitely call him again if I have similar work in the future.

Michael did a great job wallpapering our bedroom and a portion of our living room to our exact specifications. One of the wallpapers involved a complex damask pattern that required very precise matching in order to appear continuous. I mentioned to Michael my preference for a seamless look, and he did a fantastic job of creating just that. The project was completed within the agreed timeframe and for the agreed price. Michael was also very much available by email and phone in the planning stages to answer all my questions promptly. I highly recommend him.

I called him less than 2 weeks before I needed to get the job done. He managed to meet with me quickly, provide the estimate and complete the job within the short timeframe. He did an excellent job. I was extremely satisfied with the results.

It was a pleasure working with Michael and I would highly recommend him. I did quite a bit of research before selecting him. He went to the paint store with me and he was helpful with selecting the paint, buying the materials, and estimating the right amount of paint needed. The quality of work was very good. We initially agreed on 2 coats of paint but when the color didn't look quite right, he went the extra mile by applying 1/2 more coats of paint until the color looked good. He was reasonable, pleasant, and easy to work with.

We did not ultimately end up using Mr. Mahoney's services because another bid came in that was slightly lower, but it is clear he is well-qualified and I would certainly recommend him.

Overall, dealing with Michael has been an extremely satisfying experience. He was neat, punctual, organized and, most importantly, he did an excellent job painting our apartment. We had several different colors in our scheme that required clean edges and careful detail work and Michael delivered well above my expectation. The apartment looks amazing When I first called Michael, I thought that we were going to be moving the following week, and I was overwhelmed about everything we had to do in a very short time. Not only was Michael eager to get work immediately, he explained what he was going to do, how much time it would take, how much it would cost, and made me feel completely at ease. As with most Co-op buildings, ours has pretty rigorous requirements of their contractors and Michael made quick work of the process. He asked for aprox 20% to initiate the job, and immediately set to work handling all of the documentation that the building required. He managed to get himself approved within 48 hours, and set to immediately. He respected the building?s contractor hours and arrived promptly at 8am and continued until 4pm each day. In addition to being a first rate painter, Michael was extremely generous with his time. He met us at the paint store and explained exactly what had to be done and what kind of paint we needed for each room. The cost of the paint came in well below what we discussed on the phone. In addition he stuck around the apartment to wait for deliveries and was extremely conscientious about signing for anything. Finally, I can't say enough about how clean he was. After he was done, he went around the apartment and wiped up any little paint drops (there were not many) and made touch ups as necessary. I would definitely use Michael to paint my apartment in he future

Michael Mahoney did an excellent job. He was consistently prompt, helpful, and polite. He provided an estimate which was both fair and appropriate, finished the job in a timely manner, made it perfectly clear that he would gladly return if any issues arose, and provided advice on colors and other matters when asked. I recommend him highly and without reservation.

Mike did an exceptional job, especially with the wallpaper, which is his forte and why we brought him in to do the work in the first place. Mike was professional, courteous, responsive and a hard worker. He was very accomodating to our schedule and the "quirks" of our building rules and staff. Our grasscloth delivery was delayed for several weeks, throwing us off schedule, but Mike made himself available between other jobs, even working the weekend to get our project done. He was also invaluable in determining the amount of grasscloth to order. Mike meticulously measured out our foyer -- twice -- and was correct to within a half-roll on the order amount. Grasscloth is much harder to work with than regular wallpaper, and Mike's work was fantastic: the seams are subtle, the cuts are clean, everything lines up perfectly and the corners are crisp. We are very happy with the job he did.

From the first call I had made to him, until the last day of the job he always was prompt, always available to my calls, and totally responsible for himself and another contractor he had referred. The work is beautiful, and he even graciously worked with my Feung Shuai theme. He listed all the articles that he needed to work, and let me know the quantity of materials that I needed.

Mr. Mahoney beat out several other candidates that were also in my neighborhood, based on a combination or ratings, location and price. He made a walk-through and then called me the next day with an estimate and supply list. The morning after I bought the supplies, Mr. Mahoney arrived at the agreed time and got right to work. He moved quickly, cleanly and intelligently. All together the project took two and a half days. There's another project in the works, for which I will definitely give Mr. Mahoney the contract. This project was a rescue mission. Another contractor oversold his abilities and left us with a primed dining room and a bathroom ceiling that was peeling so drastically it looked like the dome of a cavern. I wrote this review five months after Mr. Mahoney completed his work and the ceiling is still smooth as silk.

Our small guest bathroom needed new wallpaper and Michael came to see it and agreed to do the job. He spent an entire day putting up the wallpaper. He is extremely precise, careful and detail-oriented and did a beautiful job.

Michael was very responsive to my phone calls and came right away to give me an estimate. During the estimate he discovered that we needed more wallpaper than I had gotten. It took a couple of weeks to get the new wallpaper and Michael was very cooperative with the rescheduling of the work. Michael suggested that I pick up some of the supplies that would be needed and recommended a local supplier. We also provided a ladder that was needed over the staircase. Overall, Michael was knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to work with.

Michael came over to possibly paint my whole apartment (new construction, 1200 sq ft). He quickly observed that the entire job was more than he wished to take on by himself. I appreciated his honesty and showed him the one room I was considering using wallpaper. Without commitment from me he helped me figure out how much paper I would need and consulted with me on paint colors for the door and ceiling. He was very flexible with scheduling and worked over a weekend to finish it for me.
