From the time I contacted Michael to the completion of the job, he was pleasant, reliable, prompt and skilled in his area of work. My husband and I have always taken care to find and hire well recommended contractors to work in our brownstone (we have done extensive renovations since purchasing it in 1972). When our long time tenants,occupying the ground/garden floor of the house, found (without much advance notice) that they would be spending three weeks away during July, we mutually determined that would be the time to do the needed work in their apt.Their two young children occupy a small bedroom/den that we had been planning to redecorate at some point. We suddenly found ourselves with a perfect - but short - window of time. When I found Michael on Angie's List and read all the positive reviews, I hoped he might work out. He promptly provided excellent references (including one in which he did the work while the owner was absent) and was even able to shift his schedule somewhat in order to fit the five days required into our time frame.We also needed to be away during part of the time and, based on the strong personal reference, were (justifiably) comfortable giving him a key to the apartment. Above and beyond, Michael (and one assistant for part of the job) performed the work during the height of the July heat wave in the one room of the apt. without air conditioning Despite the difficulty of the heat, coupled with working in a very tight confined space, he came on time each day and maintained a patient and pleasant attitude. He wisely advised adding two extra coats of stain killer to cover "wall art" that the kids had applied to the walls (since the plan was to soon redecorate), although this required more waiting (drying time - hence travelling time. With very minimal extra charge for this work, Michael's bill came in at his original estimate. Being a small, independent contractor, (it seems he works most often by himself or, for some part of the job, with an assistant) and carries his own equipment with him by subway, his business seems perfectly suited to smaller projects. However, he did tell me that, for a larger scale job, he would have the ability (and I think connections) to work with a larger contractor. Most importantly to me, Michael takes pride in his work and the results show it. I will certainly call on him again when the need for painting and papering arises.

I can't recommend Michael highly enough! He really came through for this last minute project! This was a last minute project, as my new tenants were to prep and paint, but asked me if I could find someone only a couple days before their move. He called me within an hour or so of my initial call. He was between larger projects and was willing to give an estimate that night. We agreed on a price for the work, and he came the next day. He's professional. punctual. and thorough in his work. I recommend him highly.

michael was great. he pre-inspected the job - which i always appreciate, was timely, great estimate and came to the job ready to go! the paper itself was a bit squirrely and difficult, plaid it was - but the installation looks perfect and the client is very happy. thanks, michael!

I liked that he was honest, reliable and reasonably priced.

Because the project required a "sub-contractor", Mr. Mahoney served as the de facto general contractor by coordinating the schedule, and insuring that his costs as well as those of the sub-contractor could be accommodated within my budget. Throughout the project he was responsive to my inquiries, and had an ability to explain in layman's terms just what need to be done to resolve a problem.

I tried to get a quote from this company. Called twice and never hear back. I'm disappointed as they have good ratings here but there are enough people out there who would want the business. Received a call back after 5 days and He's coming in for a look to give a quote tomorrow. I will keep updating this.

Michael worked with us from determining how much paper to order though leaving a spotless workspace. Best contractor experience we've ever had.

I contacted Michael via Angie's List. He was responsive. He came by to look at the job. He questioned the amount of wallpaper we had pre-ordered and on his advice we ordered more. He was correct. He prepared the walls in an expert fashion and worked all day with his assistant to complete the work in a timely fashion.

Michael was excellent on communicationg in the beginning. Was very willing to come to give an evening estimate, and to my surprise do the work immediately and on a SATURDAY! He was very thorough and meticulous and just a very pleasant man. I ran errands while he was there and felt very comfortable with him in my apartment. My only complaint is that he did not put a dropcloth down everywhere, only on parts. I have lots of paint splatters that i keep finding and cleaning up. This being said, I'd still recommend him and in fact have already done so.

I cannot recommend Michael highly enough! He is wonderful to deal with, super punctual, gave us a straightforward estimate and actually completed the job in one day vs the two he thought it might take. He also offered to come back should anything settle strangely after it dried (which never happened, it was really perfect). As wallpaper begins to be more popular again I can't recommend Michael enough for getting the job done and making your space look perfect!

called Michael and he was available. He came and knocked out the job for my boss. It looked great because the pattern was well aligned. Within two weeks the wallpaper was coming off on one side. He was kind enough to come back out and fix it with no extra charge. We would definitely use Michael again. You also can't beat his pricing. I wanted to give all A's but because the paper came up, I thought a B would be fair. But I would give an A+ for his willingness to come back and fix the job.

Excellent. Michael is a wonderul paper hanger. He is very neat and cleaned up after each appointment. He was very accommodating with our schedule and made it very convenient for us. We often had to cancel or reschedule appointments and he was always very understanding. He often also did things such as replacing light switch plates. He was always very prompt.I certainly would recommend him very highly. If he were a movie I would give him four stars.

He removed and hung new wallpaper. He performed the services for over a week and it was a big job. He did a great job.

Everything went flawlessly from initial contact through project completion. Michael was incredibly responsive to my introductory emails. He traveled out to the apartment the very next day to provide an in-person estimate and was flexible with my schedule with regard to a start date. He placed the order for the materials with a provider of my choosing and arrived promptly each day. Both Michael and his assistant Bonnie displayed a genuine thoroughness and attention to detail for each aspect of the work and I am very pleased with how everything turned out. Each day the work area was meticulously prepared and cleaned and my furniture and floors stayed in perfect shape. The project was completed according to schedule and for the exact amount of the original estimate. I highly recommend Michael for all of your painting and wallpaper needs. He and his team are true professionals.

The lobby looks 100% better. The color is rich, the job is neat. The front door looks great. No money had been spent on this space since the building was first developed. It was very important that the money that the condo board spent was carefully committed, since we are not a large or wealthy building. Michael and his colleague, Bonnie, arrived on the dot every day for three weekdays. They were quiet, efficient and most attentive to the fact that it is a residential building. They left no footprint at the end of each day, stowing their materials and floor coverings carefully in the appropriate area, cleaning and sweeping so that no functions of residents were impeded during the evening hours. I was the person responsible for supervising the work and as such, Michael and Bonnie kept me informed about their activities and work hours; their estimated work time was spot on. After the job was completed, Michael emailed to assure me that if the board discovered any problem with the painting, he would come and address it as quickly as possible. In summary, we received exactly the sort of professional service--in skill and in behavior--that I expected and sought. The board's money was very well-spent.

Michael responded promptly to my emails. Was flexible. Arrived on time for estimate Was quick and knew what he was doing. My building is a stickler on insurance, he perservered until that got worked out. Within 48 hours of my building giving him clearance, he was on the job.

I changed my mind about a color and he went back and redid the job.

I contacted him. He got back to me promptly. Gave me a bid. Performed the work on time. I was very happy.

Michael and Bonnie were a pleasure to work with. They were very responsive to our concerns and requests, always punctual, and clearly care about about their work. They even came back twice to do touch-ups without being asked and said they'd be happy to return if we found any areas that needed repainting.
