Didn't do the work.
Description of Work: Took a long time to respond and price was very high. We thought he was professional and would probably do good work but he made a big deal out of some things that weren't and was hard to pin down on others. The estimate was high and a little too open ended for comfort. Maybe because he wasn't really from our area but he was on our list so we assumed he worked here.

Queen City Construction, QCC, is a full fledge Home Improvement Company: license/insured/bonded. As is our motto, we bring "Professionalism, Craftsmanship and Excellent Customer Service" to every project. QCC is your one-stop source for all your construction needs, whether it is: commercial/residential, big/small, interior/exterior. “Our expert craftsmen have years of combined experience and are highly skilled at meeting each client’s particular needs and requirements. Our goal is to achieve 100% customer satisfaction 100% of the time and our many repeat clients prove our success.” Our staff has years of experience in their respective field and as a result able to meet if not exceeded each client’s particular needs and requirements. This project: In reviewing our notes, what the customer describes is how we felt on our end, as well. What we try to do, is put everyone on the same page. For us, it is extremely difficult to provide a open ended estimate, we are not making widgets, where we can say each widget is set price and base the cost on how many widgets one may want. What was offered was that we would submit an estimate for the core project(s), given the customer an opportunity to see the quality of work that we do. Obviously there were some miscommunication, hence their post: for that we apologize! Our goal is complete customer satisfaction, we didn't accomplish that, we are in the wrong.

great story above.
Description of Work: I had a very messed up pair of large Anderson doors........lots of contractors looked at the project and didnt come back. these guys spent a bit of time debating how to fix the doors (they didnt charge me until they started working) and they attacked the problem instead of handing me guff. EXCELLENT workers, very good, and very reasonably priced.

This project: We didn't repair the door as much as we made it possible for it to close properly. Some times one doesn't want to touch a project because one action may void a warranty or may not have a high probabilty of success. In this case the customer had exhausted his options.

The project went very well overall
Description of Work: We had our attic stairs replaced on 3/27/09. Gerald came to evaluate the project about 2 weeks prior. He submiited a detailed estimate of the project. He kept us abreast about availability and details by e-mail. The job was done with 3 workers as it was very labor intensive. Our hardwood floors were covered for protection and the work area was left clean. We have already scheduled other projects with Queen City since we were very pleased with their work.

Gerald gave us a very fair estimate and when we gave the go ahead, he reviewed the details further, scheduled times for work, showed up on time and dispatched the jobs with efficiency and attention to detail. When discovering any additional issues in the course of his work, Gerald always called us to describe the problem and various solutions, only proceeding with the work if we agreed. Gerald and his crew were always considerate in protecting our property, carefully moving items that could possibly be damaged in any way during the work and returning to the original spot when finished. They were also very diligent about cleaning up and leaving areas looking as if no disruption had taken place. We are very pleased with the work and would enthusiastically recommend Gerald and his crew without hesitation. Even our neighbors and friends have made very positive and unsolicited remarks about the results.
Description of Work: This was just one of several projects the company did for us. The $10,000 figure was for EVERYTHING. Among other things, they scraped, primed and painted our house exterior, door and window frames and trim.

THE HOUSE HAS NOT BEEN PAINTED IN A WHILE AND THE PERSON/CREW WHO PAINTED THE LAST TIME DID NOT PRIME AND NOW THE TOPCOAT WAS PEELING. WE POWER WASHED THE HOUSE, SCRAPED AND SANDED OFF THE LOOSE PAINT. THEN WE PRIMED WITH AN OIL BASE PRIME TO SEAL AND PAINT WITH 2 TOPCOATS.

THERE WERE APPROXIMATELY 6 WINDOWS THAT HAVE STRUCTURAL ISSUES AND NEEDED REPAIR: I.E, ROTTEN HEADERS, ROTTEN SILLS, ROTTEN JAMS. WE BUILT NEW SILLS AND HEADERS, AS WELL AS, TRYING TO MATCH (THE BEST THAT WE COULD) WITH THE STYLE THAT WAS ON THE HOUSE. I AM GLAD TO SEE THAT THE CUSTOMER WAS HAPPY.

After getting the advance of $900, Queen City told me that they will start work after a month. We waited patiently. About 3 weeks later, I inquired whether they were on track to start the job. They told me yes. Just before the day of starting the job, I was informed that I needed to sign a paper. Next day I find the application for the permit was kept on my door for my signature. So nearly after 2 months after I gave the advance, Queen City has not yet applied for the permit and nor started the job. I told him that I would not like to continue with him and wanted him to give back my advance. He told me that he will send the advance back in the evening. Next day he calls me and says that unless I return his permit application, he will not be able to give back my advance. I immediately posted him the application. I got back the advance after 3 days. The person is not at all professional. His behavior is not up to the mark. Please do not deal with this company.
Description of Work: I had requested Queen City to convert a half bathroom into a full. They were supposed to do the entire job from pulling permit to finish. I paid $900 in advance. No work was performed even after nearly two months.

BOTH HIS CLAIMS AND TIMELINE IS INCORRECT. THIS GUY COULD MAKE “COFFEE NERVOUS”, HE WAS/IS EXTREMELY HIGH STRUNG. HE WOULD CALL FOR THE MINUTEST THINGS; IT WAS ALMOST LIKE HE WAS EXPECTING THINGS TO GO WRONG. HE HAD AN ILLEGAL HALF BATHROOM, WHICH I BELIEVE HE BUILT HIMSELF OR HAD SOME WHO WASN’T LICENSE BUILD BECAUSE THERE WERE NUMEROUS CODE VIOLATIONS, AND HE WANTED CONVERT TO LEGAL FULL BATHROOM. I TOLD HIM THAT I WOULDN’T BE ABLE TO START UNTIL ANOTHER 3 TO 4 WEEKS AFTER I RETURNED FROM A VACATION THAT MY WIFE PLANNED (I WASN’T COMFORTABLE LEAVING SOMEONE ELSE ON SITE TO MANAGE THE JOB). HE AGREED AND SENT HIS DEPOSIT. WHILE WE WERE AWAY, THE PERMIT WAS DENIED, HE TOOK EXCEPTION AND ASKED FOR HIS DEPOSIT BACK. I AGREED BUT WANTED THE PAPERWORK THAT WE HAD GIVEN TO HIM TO SIGN BACK PRIOR TO RETURNING HIS DEPOSIT, ONCE WE RECEIVED THEM, HE WAS REFUNDED HIS DEPOSIT. EVERYTHING THAT WE DID WAS IN GOOD FAITH. I HAVE COPIES (DATED) OF WHEN WE SUBMITTED THE ESTIMATE, WHEN WE RECEIVED HIS DEPOSIT (AND ENVELOPE) AND OUR CHECK REFUNDING HIS DEPOSIT. THIS IS NOT A CASE OF TERRIBLE WORKMANSHIP OR BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, WE DID NOTHING WRONG AND WE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO DEFEND OURSELVES. OUR RECORD SPEAKS FOR ITSELF.

Gerald responded to my initial phone call promptly. He set up an appointment, came by my apartment, took pictures, discussed the job and sent me an email with his estimate and a drawing of the plan for my stove area. The price for the job was fair. Unfortunately, the cabinets were damaged when they were delivered to the store, therefore, the project had to be placed on hold until the new cabinets came in. Gerald kept in touch during this time and we picked a day to start the job. I appreciated him working two Saturdays so that I would not have to take time off from my job. I also appreciated the fact that he worked with me on start and finish times for the job as I live in a co-op where the rules are fairly strict. He was neat and cleaned up after he was done. Gerald is reliable, knowledgeable, and honest. I would not hesitate to recommend his work to family and friends.
Description of Work: Gerald installed cabinets above my stove, installed a microwave and created an efficient work area. The cabinets closely matched what I currently have, so that was a big plus. Gerald explained everything in detail before the job began and while it was being done. This approach reassured me that I had nothing to worry about.

Mr. Nesbeth responded promptly to my email. Came by, took pictures, discussed the job and quickly e-mailed us a fair price for the job. He missed the predicted delivery date by a couple of weeks. But he stayed in touch and the work when delivered and installed was very good. He even worked into the evening of a snowstorm to get it all done and done well, including cleaning up afterwords. He is a good reliable honest craftsman. I would recommend his work enthusiastically.

Very bad. Read my above comments. Oh! Forgot to mention that when he came to my door and I told him that I did not think he would show up and so I was ready to feed my daughter, he asked me if he could still come in. I said that if he gave me the 20 minutes he was late so that I could use them to feed my daughter we could then go on about the bathroom renovation. He did not want to do that. Now you tell me how selfish and inconsiderate was his response...?
Description of Work: No work was performed because it did not go well from our first meeting. He was late 20 minutes to our appt. Did not call me. Said his Scan machine not working & took 2 hours to fix. Told him I needed to feed my daughter @ this point (1 year old). He still wanted to see the bathroom. Told him he had 10 minutes. Exceeded the time and I told him again I needed to feed my daughter. He took his time still packing his things. When I asked him why he did not call me to let me know he would be late, he said he could only do one thing at a time. ?????? I could have fed my little baby in those 20 minutes and still meet with him. My initial impression was that of an inconsiderate person. No thanks. Responsibility is an important factor to me when dealing with construction issues. I do not want someone who is full of excuses. A simple phone call would have suffice in this situation.

FIRST, I WOULD LIKE TO THANK ANGIE’S LIST FOR US GIVING US THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLAIN. THROUGH THEIR SERVICE, WE’VE RECEIVED MANY LEADS/JOBS AND CAN HONESTLY SAY THAT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THAT WE HAVE HAD AN UPSET CUSTOMER. WHILE I RESPECT HER OPINION OR THE RIGHT TO VOICE HER OBJECTIONS, I BELIEVE IT WITHOUT MERIT. “PROFESSIONALISM, CRAFTSMANSHIP AND EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE” IS OUR MOTTO AND THE PHILOSOPHY THAT WE HAVE BUILT THE COMPANY ON. WE WOULDN’T HAVE BEEN IN BUSINESS THIS LONG NOR ACHIEVE THE LEVEL OF SUCCESS, IF VIOLATED THESE PRINCIPALS. WE ARE LIMITED TO 1,500 CHARACTERS REBUTTAL, AND CANNOT AT THIS TIME, EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED THAT DAY: WHAT I DON’T LIKE IS THAT OUR CHARACTER IS HAS COME UNDER ATTACH, WE ARE CAST AS BEING RUDE AND INCONSIDERATE. ANYONE WHO HAS EVER DEALT WITH US KNOWS THAT IS FAR FROM BEING THE TRUTH! IN CLOSING, WE WISH HER ALL THE BEST WITH HER RENOVATION AND WE BELIEVE THE TRUE MEASURE OF WHO WE ARE, PROFESSIONALISM AND CRAFTSMANSHIP SHOULD BE TAKEN FROM THOSE CUSTOMERS WITH PROJECTS THAT WE HAVE COMPLETED! THEY HAVE FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE OF WHO WE ARE. THANKS. GERALD NESBETH, HER LAST EMAIL TO US……. GERALD, THANK YOU FOR YOUR REQUEST. BUT AT THIS TIME, I PRETTY MUCH MADE UP MY MIND. I UNDERSTAND YOUR DELAY THIS MORNING, BUT PLEASE UNDERSTAND THAT EVEN STAY-AT-HOME MOMS HAVE TIME LIMITATIONS AND THEIR TIME IS JUST AS PRECIOUS AS YOURS. I WISH YOU LUCK IN YOUR FUTURE JOBS. SINCERELY, XXXXX X. XXXXXXX
