Tom Morelli (owner) and his crew were great! Tom kept us updated on when the job would start, involved us in the creative process along the way (including dropping off different stones one night to make sure we picked one we liked) and was true to his word from price to worksmanship & professionalism. Once the work began they were here hard at work everyday and completed the job in about a week. Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend them. Tom's son (it is a family business) recently graduated from mason school and did a great job doing much of the day-to-day masonry.

Suburban Asphalt did an excellent job. They were on time and knew what they were doing. Their price was very competitive as well. I would highly recommend Suburban Asphalt and hire them for future work.

My wife said to me immediately after Tom showed up with the measuring wheel and gave us an estimate, "He's much nicer and more professional than any of the other guys who have shown up." As I mentioned early, the Village Hall policies where I live are overwhelming. I had to jump through rings of fire to get the permits for the job, even though I was replacing the existing crumbling driveway already there and beautifying the house/enhancing the curb appeal. Tom, at Suburban Asphalt, was extremely helpful throughout the Village Hall permit process, faxing me whatever documentation they required. I was very impressed from the start. He showed up with his crew exactly when he told me he would and did the job quickly, efficiently, and for the agreed-upon cost. Most importantly, Tom was there to oversee his Suburban Asphalt crew from start to finish and helped out with the entire laying of the asphalt. He made sure the grade was perfect to plan, and I couldn't believe what an amazing job he did with the seem between my paving stone walkway and the asphalt driveway... it is perfectly level, straight, and clean looking. Even another mason said to me, that's exactly the way it's supposed to be done. The best part about the experience? Tom went out of his way to make a smooth transition from driveway to street. And sure enough, my town inspector came by and gave me an "Order to Correct" because the asphalt was evidently on Sea Cliff property... as if anyone would have cared - the neighbors loved the new look - and it certainly didn't block water flow as they claimed it might. To make a long story short, I called Tom, and he is scheduled to come make the fix free of charge this week. Good guy, good company, will use them for all masonry needs in the future. It's just worth the peace of mind.

My husband and I found suburan on the internet. We then checked them out on Angies List. We had other estimates but chose to use Suburban after meeting with Tom. In today's world it is refreshing to deal with someone like Tom and his workers. Tom delivered on everything he said he would. He is courteous, skilled and professional and a hard worker as well. He is always there with his crew, not only overseeing but working as well. He returns all phones call promptly and answers all of your questions and concerns. The entire job was completed in a timely fashion with Tom keeping us abreast of how it would progress. The job is now complete and we couldn't be happier with the results. Plus it has been a real pleasure working with Tom who is truly a professional. No stress with this job for us. We would not hesitate to recommend him to family and friends.

There was a problem. It wasn?t done right and there was some pooling. They were a little hesitant to redo it. They also did a stoop and it is cracking and chipping and is different colors. They refused to do it over. They wouldn't rectify the problem when it had been identified unless I brought in someone who knew what they were doing. One of the concrete slabs was pooling up with water. They said it was normal and they didn't want to redo it. I had a friend come by who was familiar with concrete and once he told them they decided they could redo that. It was the same with the concrete stoop and it had settled so we let it go. They haven't followed up and we haven't heard anything back. I think they have purposely not come back. Now the work on the patio is okay but if we hadn't made that correction it would have been expensive for us. The workers were fine. They had a couple of specialty guys. They were clean and didn?t leave trash all over the place, which we appreciated. We wouldn't use them again.

We found Tom on Angie?s List. He responded within our of the first message. Agreed to come for an estimate on a Saturday (was punctual) He had great ideas on what we should do, never pushy, very friendly. The next morning we have detailed estimate in our mail box. Prices were reasonable and within what we expected. Once we decided to use him, he suggested a visit to a place where we can choose the stone we wanted. They were very nice and helpful. His time frame to begin the job was fair and reasonable. The job was preformed at with high precision, much care and attention to details. Tom notices that the slop of the ground at the backyard was towards the house, he made sure that the slope of the patio will be away from the house. Tom first asked for partial payment with the first day of the job. Always kept us updated on what he does and what he will do next. Always called back within an hour of two when we left messages. The site was left clean. We feel very very lucky to have found him and his crew.

Everything went as planned. Tenant called to say work was done very professionally.

Found this contractor via Angie's list. Presented for estimate per appointment after phone conversation. Tom, the owner, was very pleasant and informative, discussed project options thoroughly. On first scheduled day of work, called before coming, and arrived in a timely fashion at agreed upon appointment time. He and his workers were very pleasant and professional. Did all the prep work and paver installation in preparation for the concrete placement. Next morning arrived on time, concrete truck arrived in a timely fashion. Good quality concrete pour done. Great attention to detail at every step of the job. Worked cleanly, and picked up all debris afterwards. Have rarely had any contractor be so neat. Tom, his son, and all his workers were pleasant and patient with my many questions. Always smiling and cheerful to have around. They went over and above to neatly cut out an old section of concrete sidewalk, with my kids names and little footprints in it, and moved it to be incorporated into the new patio on the side of the house. They took the time to place it carefully so it looks nice, like it belongs there, and sought my input and participation with the placement decisions. Many contractors just wouldn't have been bothered, or would have done this begrudgingly, but these guys were awesome! Honored the Angie's list discount. I would ABSOLUTELY use them again, and would feel confident recommending them to family and friends.

Working with Tom and his team was a great experience. As soon as they got started on the project, it was done quickly and professionally. Everything looks absolutely beautiful; there is no question as to the craftsmanship of Tom and crew. At the end of the project, everything was cleaned up and you'd never notice that anyone had been working at the house Tom was extremely easy to work with and made me comfortable from the start. All the work was performed within the estimate, with no surprises, even when small changes were made (including adding a couple of things like patching the sidewalk). I will definitely add Tom and Suburban Asphalt to the very short list of people that I trust to work on my house. If the need arises in the future, I will call Tom for masonry/concrete/asphalt work.

Tom Morelli and his friendly and capable crew built about 1200 sq ft of Capital pavers with a poured-concrete base. Many contractors use crushed concrete, which is cheaper, and which I heard is not as durable. Together, he and my wife and I designed the project in advance, and at every step of the way, we discussed -- in person or on the phone -- the progress of the project, and often made modifications to the plan. I had a one-foot high wall installed using Capital wall pavers that was about 65 feet long, and capped with beautiful buff stones, that had the hue that I wanted. Tom laid a new concrete floor in the boiler room after demoing the floor. He helped me coordinate my hiring of a plumber, electrician, painter, and carpenter for the various but related jobs that needed to be done in sequence in the boiler room. He even helped me deal with the carpenter when the latter tried to rip me off and yelled at my wife for no good reason. One wall of my garage was leaning over due to a poor foundation, and Tom underpinned that wall in 3 places with cement 1.5 feet deep. He repointed my front brick wall and removed and replaced the brick on one side where the wall was cracked and pulling away from the house. Tom fixed other minor odds and ends that we never agreed to in advance. Tom poured a 40 foot long sidewalk. Tom installed a stoop and a step in each of 2 separate back entrances with buff stones. He also applied and obtained a permit to do the work, which many contractors require the homeowner to do. Tom removed 3 trees and many bushes. I thought that when we first discussed the job he agreed to bring top soil to replace areas where concrete was demoed and removed, but it was not in the contract, and Tom did not recall agreeing to that; nevertheless to make me happy, Tom brought over at least $500 worth of soil. After the job was finished, I decided to extend a patio made of pavers in the backyard and naturally hired Tom for this job, too! Excellent work, easy to talk to, straightforward, kind, fun, and flexible.

Everything went well. He was very responsive to issues that arose and honored his commitments. His crew was very accomodating as well.

Suburban handled the job to my complete satisfaction from start to finish. There was a small issue with a few of the bricks that were set, and when I needed this rectified, Tom came right away to address and fix my issue. THEY STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK. About a year after my driveway, I called Tom to build a retaining wall. He had the best price, and did a great job! I have recommended them to friends, and would use them again.

Based on Angie's List reviews, we contacted Suburban to finish a botched driveway job by another contractor. Mr. Morelli promptly returned our call for an estimate and arrived for the appointment on time and gave us a written quote at the end of the appointment. Having already had negative experiences with other contractors (including the one who was originally hired for the driveway job), we were apprehensive. However, Mr. Morelli was always prompt to return phone calls and he kept us well-informed of the start date for our job. Mr. Morelli also worked with us to file the appropriate paperwork with the town. On the day of the job, Mr. Morelli arrived at the agreed-upon time and the entire job was finished within 3 hours. So far, we have been very happy with the driveway work. In short, working with Suburban was a great experience.

I left a message and it took them a few days to get back to me. When he did I made an appointment for him to look at the job the following week and he never showed up. I called him back and asked where he was, he said oops, I forgot. We made another appointment and he did show up this time. When he showed up, he gave me the estimate for $1,850.00. I asked him to do the job and he said he?d put me on the list to check my scheduling in two weeks. I called him back in two weeks, he said I didn?t forget you; you?re still on the list. That was the last I ever heard from him.

The job was done in November and went smoothly. Tom Morelli the owner was there every day on the job & showed up on time and completed the job exactly the way he described. He is always answering the phone when you call. He was also very careful not to damage and sprinkler lines when tearing up the driveway. Other contractors I would not ever address this issue. The contractor had to come back one time to correct a problem. He came back as promised. I was very pleased with the work.

We have been very unhappy with some people we've hired in the past, so it was a real pleasure doing business with a co. that was professional, punctual, and completed the work exactly as promised.

Tom and his crew were very good and very professional. They did the job on time and the did excellent work. Tom helped us with the design and was very patient even though we changed it several times. Tom was on the job every day and he and his crew were the best contractors we have ever hired. I would very highly recommend this company.

Tom is very professional. His original quote was for laying new blacktop over the existing driveway. Instead he ripped up the old driveway and then laid down the new blacktop for no additional cost. He also built us a brand new slate walkway from the driveway to our front entrance and it came out excellent. He was able to incorporate the new walkway into the existing slate patio and entryway so it looks fairly seamless. Finally he patched up the mortar on a different walkway.

The owner Tom was one of the most reasonable, polite, and practical contractors I have ever come across. The work was 98% perfect, except for a couple of house shingles that they accidentally cracked, but Tom himself replaced them a week later. Also, about a month later, the driveway developed a blemish, but they repaired it without additional charges.
