We were pretty pleased with Tom. Our front and rear stoops and our rear patio- all brick - were falling apart and were unusable. Tom seemed to be right fella for the job from Angie's List reviews and from recommendations we received from paver suppliers. Tom was professional, kept us informed and knew what he was doing. He had design and color suggestions for pavers and stoop designs. He suggested enlarging the rear patio, which we did. Once the job started he was very easygoing. Field conditions required a larger concrete ramp than anticipated (from the walk on the side of the house to to rear patio) and Tom installed the larger ramp and did not up-charge us. In fact, I suspect that there were a few extras and unanticipated complications that came up during job performance, which Tom handled with a smile and without up-charges. We are very happy with the result. Only 2 issues came up: He started about a month later than originally scheduled but this was a big job, and he kept in touch with us. From recent posts I've seen, I expect that he was busy. Another contractor with whom we had been in contact told us that they would not get to us till Spring, 2014. One needs to be flexible, I think, when doing a job of this scope. Once he started the job it was fully staffed, and it took about the 10 days he said it would take. Only other issue is that I appear to have efflorescence in just a few pavers in the rear patio - which is a whitish hue on the pavers. It's a shame because the whole job is absolutely beautiful, but I'm focused on 7/8 pavers which few other people might notice. For homeowners doing concrete work - its an unavoidable chemical reaction if it comes, and it's supposed to fade over time. So, be prepared for the possibility. I've consulted with people about it, and I've done some internet research and confirmed that this is a normal condition which should fade over time. Tom has told me to keep him informed and offered to replace the affected pavers if necessary. So, you can't blame him for a naturally occurring phenomenon, yet he offered to fix it. Can't ask for anything more, no?

I recently had my cement sidewalk and two car driveway replaced and my patio resurfaced with beautifful Toscana pavers. This work was magnificently and very professionally performed. The final price was the exact estimate as quoted. Tom and his crew completed the job as scheduled, were very careful not to damage any property and they cleaned up after the work was completed. Tom always returned phone calls promptly, answered all questions and kept me aprised of when the work was scheduled to be done. I would recommend Suburban Asphalt Concrete Co. without reservation. Tom, his son Jayson and the rest of his crew did a great job. Most of this work was done to improve the pitch of my driveway and walkwaysgiven the damage from Sandy. Tom, is a true professional. While he is a very busy contractor, he always returned my phonecalls and kept any appointments we made. Additionally, he made several design recommendations that we ended up doing and were quite happy with. The end result looked great, the driveways, walkways and concrete patio wasexactly what we were hoping for. They are true craftsmen, care about the job they do and are really easy and pleasant to work with. After getting estimates from 4 companies, very glad we went with Suburban Asphalt Concrete Co. Highly recommend.

Found Suburban Asphalt here on Angies list. Called the number and left a message. Tom the owner called back the next day and we setup an appointment for him to come look at what I wanted, and give me an estimate. Tom showed up for the appointment as scheduled right on time. Looked at what I wanted done, took his measurements and gave me a price. Told me he could be onsite in a week or two if I wanted to move forward. I had called Tom back a week or so later asking if he could come one more time to give me a new quote, as we wanted to remove and pave over an existing a plant bed on the side of the driveway. Tom was very nice, and came over the next day to discuss. He mentioned i need to get the the sprinkler head removed before I could move forward. A week or so later, I had called tom again to come have a look, because i had some concerns about a spot near the middle of the driveway that would usually pool water in heavy rains. Tom was very nice, and offered to come once again and look, and offer some ideas. We also spoke about the new gate we were getting, and I asked him if he would remove the existing gate for me. He said yes, no problem. Finally several weeks later, we had the sprinkler head removed, and booked the job. Tom called me the 2 days before the job was to start and asked if he could come one more time to show his son what was being done, as he would be running the job. So the next morning they both showed up, we went over everything, and we were all set to start the project the next morning at 8am. As expected, the crew was on time, and got right to work. They removed the plant bed, the stone and everything. tamped down the dirt, and got it ready to be filled with asphalt. Next they went to work removing the driveway gates. These posts were buried in concrete, and buried deep. It was no easy task, but the guys powered through, and did a great job. Next, they cleaned up a bit, and removed the remaining items from my backyard, so they could start sealcoating the backyard. One guy started seal coating, and the rest of the crew went to work laying the new asphalt. They worked quickly, and with great care and skill to make sure it was even and had some pitch towards the street. Once the job was done, they cleaned up everything. All the dirt, the remaining little bits of blacktop. When they were done, they put some caution tape at the front of the driveway to block anyone from driving or walking on it. All in all, Tom, His son and the entire crew did a great job from estimate to completion. I have already recommended them to friends, and will be happy to continue to do so. For such a small dollar job, they took the same kind of care and attention someone would expect for a very large expensive job. Hats off to this family run business, who remember how to do it right.

In late July or early Aug 2013 I called Mr. Tom Morelli for an estimate on repairing or replacing my front stoop. We set a time for an estimate the following Monday at 4 PM. That Monday 4PM came and went no call no show for the estimate. On Tuesday AM I called again inquiring what had happened? Tuesday night he returned my call and said he had had a very bad day and couldn't make the appointment so he just went home and had dinner. He apologized and requested an additional appointment to give me the estimate. We agreed on the following Sat. at 10AM. Mr. Morelli arrived and gave me an estimate of 2700.00 for a new front stoop in concrete. The work to be done after the labor day holiday. I called after the beginning of Sept and requested a start time for the work to begin. No one ever called back with a date. I called on two more occasions and requested calls for a start of the construction. None of my calls were returned. After tree calls I quite trying to contact Mr Morelli, as it was obvious he was not going to call, and was not interested in doing the job. If he didn't want the job initially I would have appreciated him just telling me in the first place and not just ignoring my calls. To this date I have not received and call or reason for his actions. I consider this an insult and no way to do business.

I called Tom Morelli, the owner. He was very responsive and returned my call that day. We arranged for a day/time to do the work. Tom came with one of his employees and after accessing the job, we agreed to a fair price. The work was done professionally and quickly. And they did a very good job cleaning up. I also had a great experience with Tom and his company last year on a much larger job, when he re-paved my driveway, installed Belgian block and re-pointed my brick stoop. The finished work was first -rate and just as importantly, the entire experience couldn't have been better. Tom was responsive, his employees very professional, he did what he said he'd do, and the price was fair. What more could you want.

They didn't show up for a scheduled appointment and never called.

Terrible! Not really sure how this company has a rating of an A? We had to have our driveway repaved after we had damage from hurricane Sandy. We contacted Morelli in April. We met with him, we liked him and actually hired him. He told us there was a two-month waiting list. We were ok with this as well. Two moths later we played phone tag with him for another two weeks. He finally got in touch with us and told us we were on the calendar for two weeks out. He set up an appointment with us for the following week, Sept. 3rd, and told my husband he could only fit us in during mid-morning. My husband took the day off work, and Morelli was a no show! Not even a courtesy call. That is absolutely inexcusable! He obviously feels his time is more important than ours.

When I first contacted Tom he came over right away in the middle of July and gave me an estimate. He also said there would be a six week wait and to contact him in five weeks. After numerous calls to him he finally called back and said he needed a couple of more weeks. So, I called him after two weeks and left numerous messages until I finally reached him. He said he needed a couple of more days. This was ten days ago. I have since left messages on both his phones and have yet to receive a call back. Last night I left another message telling him I getting someone else. If the job was too small or he did not want to do it, just tell me instead of putting someone off. A terrible way to run a business. He may do good work which I will not know, BUT not very reliable.

We had an excellent experience with the suburban asphalt company. It was a big project but every thing went perfect. Tom communicate with us each step of the way guide us through the process from picking pavers to design .We got so many compliment from our neighbors about the big transformation Tom and his team accomplished .it is amazing!!!!! they did our patio , walkways , stoops, driveway, flower bed, sidewalk,grading and much more. The entire crew were hard working and professional. excellent customer service we are so happy with the result.it was much more what we envision. Thank you Tom.

Tom Morelli and Suburban Asphalt did absolutely nothing. The project was the back walkway. Stay away from this contractor. Nothing was done after promising a September 2012 start. This contractor has been delaying start dates. For almost a year now ( 11 months ). He gives a start date then when the date approaches he delays again. Tom never has the decency and professionalism to call to reschedule. He has NEVER called me or called me back since the initial start date of September 2012. I always have to call to find out why he has not shown. (I sympathize with the 6/22/13 customer review where the customer also never got any return calls and had to sit around all day). The latest date that Tom Morelli did not call back was 8/5/2013 and was again a no show for the project. I have used him before (driveway ) and even recommended him to my neighbors but this has been awhile ago. As has been demonstrated his punctuality, professionalism and work ethic have deteriorated since then. As further proof grass is starting to come through the driveway in spots. He promised to fix even though the warranty expired.

After getting an estimate from a few contractors in the fall, it was clear that Tom's proposal was the best fit. We decided to move forward in the spring with a slightly larger scope to include some additional hard surface work. Tom returned to revise his estimate. We worked around some scheduling needs on both sides, stayed in communications and planned for a estimated date at a mutually convenient time. Work started about a week later than original estimate, but with weather, delay was totally understandable. Tom kept us posted throughout, and stepped us through what to expect, who would be here when. Tom, his sons, and their team did a great job end to end. Very willing to listen, help, explain. Now, a month later, we couldn't be happier. We would use again and/or recommend without hesitation.

I had called Suburban right after Hurricane Sandy to give me an estimate on repaving the walk to the side of my home destroyed by uprooted trees. Right from the start, Tom was very personable and explained everything he planned on doing. Although I had gotten other estimates, when it came time to do the job I immediately called him. As I was having other repairs done at the same time, Tom was very flexible and had to complete the job over a 2 day period rather than the 1 as he had originally told me. I found him and his workers to be very nice and diligent, even in almost 100 degree weather., and answered any and all questions I had. The result could not have been any better and I would definitely recommend him to others.

It was awful. Weeks went by and finally, when the allegedly professional landscape diagram was provided it was something a third-grader would have been ashamed of. No details, no price, no itemizing of what shrubberies would be used, etc.

Called the top three concrete companies on Angie's List for estimates and Tom Morelli of Suburban was the only one who responded; he did that promptly and, therefore, got the job. Lots of rainy weather intervened and Tom and his crew finally began work on July 5th. During the first afternoon, they broke up the old concrete and hauled it away. They arrived early the next day, poured the entire front sidewalk and laid the paver walkway to the house. They also cleaned up all the tree roots and paver debris from the front yard. Entire job was done in 1 1/2 days. Tom said they'd be back in two days to remove the stakes and tape and level the dirt near the curb. I'm sure they will be here. Tom and his crew are hard-working, very professional, and pleasant to do business with. Would definitely recommend the company and would contract with them again ourselves.

We contacted Tom the end of March and were told that there would be a six week wait. We agreed on the price and the time line. However , the weather was bad and the work started the middle of June. Tom called a few times and always kept us informed as to when the work would start. The first day, the driveway, walkway, path to rear of house and brick on garage was removed.On the following days, the stoop in the rear was finished then concrete was poured for the patio and path in the back of the house. Then the work started on the front stoop and walkway.Tom saw some bricks on the house that needed repair and fixed that as well as the brick on the garage. The driveway was then poured. The workers were very pleasant,professional and talented people. We had very little disruption to our lives considering the amount of work done. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this company and would definitely use them again if the need arises.

Tom never showed up or called on the day he was supposed to give the estimate. I hung around all afternoon for nothing. I left a message and no return call. I am serious about doing the work too.

Went extremely well. Despite uncooperative weather causing the loss of a few days, job started when they said and completed on-time and on-budget. Was given daily updates on progress and told exactly what work would be performed next. Long driveway was pitched perfectly so I now get no standing water and no run-off towards house or garage. Brickwork of new front proch is astounding. Still getting passersby stopping to admire the work. Asked Suburban to come back afterwards to touch up a spot where asphalt meets concrete and they did so promptly and without question. Even corrected a flat spot I couldn't even detect because it wasn't as perfect as they like. Their exact comment when I asked them to fix this was, "Anything you want. We're not happy until you're happy". I wish all contractors were this professional and took such pride in their work. This is the way all contracting should be.

Did two driveways for us with new cinder blocks good job very responsive and fast thank you tom

I do recommend Suburban Asphalt to anyone that needs a company that shows pride in their work, and excellent communication with their customers.

Called Tom on Friday May 3rd, Called me back and made an Appontment for Sat May 4th, Never Showed, Never Called, Terrible professionalism

I spoke to Tom about replacing the long-lost gravel in our driveway. He came over promptly, measured, gave us an estimate and a reasonable date for the repair. We also asked about having a drainage pipe cleaned. He and his crew came exactly when they said they would, regraded the driveway, put in new gravel, raked it/smoothed it, and cleared the drain. It cost exactly what he said it would. He was a pleasure to work with, particularly as it is not easy to find service providers who will work with gravel driveways.

Tom gave me an estimate in December (I had 3 estimates but liked him the best). He matched my lowest price and vowed to return when the weather was warmer. He didn't forget us and called to schedule the service right when the cold broke. He took two days - one morning to remove the old driveway and one morning to pave the new one. He and his son were clean, neat and professional and did a great job. He even told me the places the asphalt may crack (above an exposed pipe by our garage). So far so good. I would definitely use him again.

Overall using this company was a good experience. They even offered to return and correct any damage or markings the neighborhood kids might make on the concrete work before it sets.
