Description of Work: I was an ADT customer for 10 years. The equipment, service and responsiveness were always relatively good. Then they made a change to their system: after an alarm is tripped, their monitoring center doesn't even get the signal for 30 seconds to a minute. It used to be that I'd get a call within 10 seconds of an alarm being tripped. Suddenly it was taking 1 minute. In a real life emergency, in a home invasion for example, during that 30 seconds to a minute an intruder can easily rip the alarm out or cut wires. ADT would never get the signal or call. Even if they do, that delay -- after which they'd first try calling you at home, then your backup, and finally the police -- would result in response times of far more than 5 minutes in the best case. That's way too long. I explained this to service reps at ADT and they didn't care at all and were more than happy to let me cancel service. If you want an alarm system that actually provides some measure of security look elsewhere.

Description of Work: I've had ADT since I moved in to my home several years ago. The monthly monitoring fee has gone up by $10 and the service has gone way down! Apparently, my communication panel has been down for a second time since Sandy & they charge for after hours service calls, so I needed to leave work early to meet them. But they never showed! I called 20 mins after the expected arrival time, only to be told the technician got stuck on his last job and wouldn't be able to make it!! No, they didn't call to let me know. Did they offer to have them come after hours at their expense since it was their mistake? No. Did I ask? Yes, and was on hold for another 5 minutes, only to be told they couldn't give me an answer and the night manager would have to call me later!! Have I been offered any discount for the lack of service? No Oh, I also did have a very nice technician here for the first outage, but he told me the wrong information. he told me that the communication error was because one of the door alarms was broken (which didn't matter since there was nothing in the basement at that point) and he bypassed it & shut off the comm error alert. So when I saw it again, I was not concerned, since "I knew it was the door" Apparently, they only test the line once a month, so if your panel goes bad after that test, you are not protected until they figure it out at the next months test! Nor do they think that's an issue! I'm investigating other companies immediately!
