He was recommended by someone I know, not from Angie's List. I finally found Steve on Angie's List and thought I would give him a try. Great experience! He fixed the problems with one visit, didn't make me feel as though I don't know much about computers (as I don't!), Will use him ALWLAYS!
Description of Work: Worked on problems with my Dell Desktop. Fixed problems I was having. He is honest and extremely knowlegable in this complicated field. I find him easy to talk to and he always returns phone calls.

+ -1 moreThe service was professional and thorough. Steve Levy told me exactly what he would do, and advised me about various computer problems.. The only problem was the estimation of the time the repairs would take; he initially told me I could pick it up in a week. The repairs took at least two weeks. But I was very pleased with the work and would definitely use Pinpoint again.
Description of Work: Myv computer hard drive was replaced and the data was restored. I was also provided with a copy of the data on my external hard drive.

+ -1 moreTh process went very smoothly. Steve explained what he thought might be the problem and once it was identified he asked me if I understood what he was doing and if it was okay to proceed. This is the second time I have used pinpoint. even though I still have a service contract with my computer company. I found that having someone in the room with you explaining what he was doing was comforting Steve was professional and courteous during the time he was working on my PC and I highly recommend him.
Description of Work: My web browser was not properly loading my web pages. Steve hade to figure out what was wrong and correct it. In the end he had to uninstall my web browser and reinstall it.

Description of Work: Steve has been servicing my pc's now for about 4 years. I needed differerent installations like Wi-Fi, upgrades, external harddrive install, scanner, and various software. He sucessfully installs all perfectly and is able to correct various issues and problems from viruses, malware, software crashes. In addition he has recommended products and equipment he uses. I got a great computer, scanner, virus software and all are great. I can ask technical questions to learn about it and he has the answer or will find it and happy service any issue on premise, remotely, by tel or email. Thanks Steve.

He has become my "go to guy" for any issues pertaining to my computers, even though I live around the corner from a computer diagnostic and repair center. + -1 moreIt went fine. We met half-way between my home and his to drop off and for me to retrieve the laptop. He assumed that I wanted a brand new screen. I called him a few days after I dropped off the laptop and asked him to locate a used screen, which he did. One small quibble I have: I know that he had to order a screen for me, but the repair time was, in my opinion, way too long, almost two weeks. When I thought I was going to try to replace the screen myself, I saw that I could order a used one from Amazon and get it within a few days. However, it was good service and a solid repair.

Description of Work: My laptop was damaged by dropping it. We gave it Steve and he diagnosed the problem as a damaged hard drive. He replaced the hard drive and reinstalled the original software using our recovery disk.

+ -1 moreI have a laptop that had a damaged hard drive (didn't know it until after the diagnosis) and a tower that kept crashing. I took both units to Steve where he was able to diagnose the laptop issue almost immediately, but needed time to diagnose the tower. He replaced the hard drive; reloaded whichever programs I could provide; and cleaned out the tower. Both units now work as good as new. He also installed new antivirus software on both for a reasonable fee. All of which was done in one weekend. I would recommend his service to anyone with a computer issue. He provides a fair and concise analysis of your problem, and offers suggestions as to what might be in your best interest. All for a reasonable price. Plus he saves you a lot of time. Again, competent, professional and reasonable. Would I go to him again? YES!!!

He is a true professional, well qualified, courteous and charged a fair price. Within a few day after calling Mr. Levy, my computer ws running smoothly. Description of Work: Our computer had a virus and/or an incompatible program that was causing our computer to run agonizingly slow. Steve worked at our home first then took the computer to his office to further troubleshoot it. He brought it back the next day and it worked like a charm - in turbo. He also installed a better anti virus program.

+ -1 moreExcellent service. Steve contacted HP and found out my computer was still under warranty so that I would not need to pay for new hard drive. HP sent defective replacements. Steve had to stay on top of HP to get a working drive. His expertise and initiatives saved me money and he explained the delays, due to HP, very clearly to me. His son Michael was also very professional and delightful to deal with. I would recommend Pinpoint to everyone. Cannot do better in terms of quality of service and interactions.

+ -1 moreSteve Levy is the owner of the company. They did a good job for us. The technician who came out was great. He came in and did what was needed and didn?t take a long time to figure it out. He charges by the hour. He comes right in and gets right down to business. He figured out the problem right away and solved it. So we were very pleased with that. He had extra memory for the computer with him. I told him on the phone as to what was going on and he had sensed what would be needed. So he came prepared to fix the problem so that he doesn?t have to make another visit. He is prompt. He has also come in the evening whenever we needed. He will tell you what time he is coming and he calls if he is not going to be here at that time. He then informs about his delay and will be there at another time. He doesn?t leave us wondering what is going on or show up 45 minutes or an hour later. He comes exactly at the time he says he would come. He once called a few minutes before the time to inform that he was in traffic and he was delayed. So he said that he would be there in 30 minutes. I really appreciated that quality and he is responsible too. He was available to come during evening hours and that made a big difference. He gets really high marks in my books. I can?t complain about his price. It wasn?t cheap but you get what you pay for. So it wasn?t unreasonable. He is very professional and I would definitely use his services in the future. I have recommended him to my friends too.
Description of Work: We used Pinpoint Computer Services about two months ago. We have 3 different computers and we were having problems with one. One of them wasn’t reading and one of them was running very slowly. So they upgraded the memory and also tuned up.

I needed to find someone who was an expert, customer-focused, reliable, and affordable. And I needed to know that he would be there for me any time I had a problem--either in person, or remotely, which is a wonderful capability. I will use Steve from now on and recommend him to everyone I know.
Description of Work: I had purchased a new all-in-one machine, based on Steve's recommendation. He came to my home office to install it, set up the fax to work with my cable phone line, connected the scanner to two computers and made it simple for me to access scanned documents. He also configured my netbook computer to connect with my local wireless network, and checked that every function worked, multiple times.

He was responsible and professional. I was grateful that I did not have to leave my compter overnight since I use it for work. Thank you.
Description of Work: The gentleman came to our home, serviced the computer. By tuning it up, the computer runs much more efficiently and quicker. He explained what he was doing. He unfroze a site that kept freezing up on me. He tested it several times and each time, the computer went smoother. He spent at least one hour and the best part, is that we didn't leave the computer (which we use for work) overnight. Thank you for your service!

Once again, true to his total professionalism went to work to fix a problem that I had created myself by downloading software that conflicted with each other and ultimately created havoc for me. But after two hours, and a bit of a battle, my computer was up and running like new. All I can say is Steve is professional, friendly, competent, and I would never hesitate to call on him again, and to recommend him to friends and family.

+ -1 moreI called Steve and we set up time for a "virtual" appointment over the phone for the next day. During the apointment Steve quickly fixed both my computer problems. I have used Steve Levy"s services many times. I first used him when I was told by someone else that my hard drive was dead. At a friend"s suggestion I contacted Steve . He checked out my computer and found that was not true and saved me a fortune of money and a huge headache!!! Since then he is the only person I would ever let touch my computer and the only person I recommend to others. He is always very responsive and accomodating and has always done an excellent job of fixing all of my computer"s ailments no matter what they are... AND at a very fair price.
Description of Work: I had multiple problems with my computer : I could not send any emails on my business email adress and my computer would not shut down properly.

+ 0 moreSteve said he'd be here at 3 but called to say he was running late and would come at 4 which he did. He ran a series of tests on my daughter's Dell desktop which was running very slow and found problems with the virus program (CA Security that was provided free by RoadRunner) and removed it and then installed a different, free one that is much better. He found a problem with the wireless mouse and keyboard and suggested that we get a new one which we will do. Her computer runs like new now. At the same time I brought out an older Dell Inspiron laptop that I have not been able to use for several years and he ran a series of tests on that simultaneously. He reformatted the hard drive and reinstalled the operating system and Internet Explorer. I now have my computer back. He was totally professional and I would highly recommend him to anyone needing a computer repair.
Description of Work: Checked and sped up my daughter's Dell desktop computer. Reformatted my old laptop and reinstalled Windows and explorer and brought a dead computer back to life.

Description of Work: We called because my wife's computer simply stopped working, and had been out of service for some time. Nothing we tried worked to fix it. We called Steve on a Sunday afternoon to leave a message. He got back to us promptly and said he might be able to see us that evening, which was really the best time for us, as it turned out. He came at around 7 p.m. and fixed the problem, speeding up the computer in the process, and loading new anti-virus software that is far better than our Norton collection. While he was here, we asked him to load the same software on our two notebook computers. He did all three simultaneously to save time. During the initial run, the program picked up a hacking tool on my notebook, which Norton had been missing all year. He also agreed to take a look at my printers, which had different problems. The wireless printer kept wanting to print the alignment page. He told me what to do to clear it while he was working on my wife's computer. Then, while her computer was busy - with an installation, as I recall - he came out and checked on my printer, which kept having paper jams. Steve spotted the problem pretty quickly and told us it wasn't worth repairing - citing a better model at a lesser cost that we could buy. In the meanwhile, he set up my iMac -- which used that printer -- so it can now use the wireless printer same as my PC notebook. Steve spent several hours on the job and did not charge as for the full amount of time he was here. His rates were reasonable, his expertise obvious, and his integrity and efficiency put us at ease right away. We recommend him very highly and will definitely call him again if we have a problem, or any kind of computer need on which we need an expert point of view.
