After reading such raving reviews about Davey tree service I regret to inform people of my bad experience with them. I called sometime around the beginning of April 2014 asking for an estimate to remove a large oak tree in my back yard. The receptionist woman who answers the phones I played phone tag with but eventually connected back up with. I informed her ahead of time the tree is in my backyard behind my detached garage. She was also informed ahead of time the tree was behind the power lines. She immediately informed me they can't do work near power lines. I then replied with ok no problem before wasting your time let me know how far away from the power lines the tree has to be?? She said she had no idea that is up to the tree specialist. I was then told someone would stop out in the next few days then let me know. I found it odd she wanted nothing to do with scheduling someone to come out when I was home??? I then waited an entire week without hearing anything from the company. I called after hours and left a message. The next morning I received a voicemail from the woman stating the specialist came out the day before I called and found the tree is too close to the power lines. I felt this entire situation was just simply too "convenient" so I decided to check my security cameras I have on my house.........Sure enough no one showed up. I called the woman back informing her no one came to my house as proved by the camera footage to which she replied she was told the specialist stopped by. I then asked her to have that person call me to discuss the matter and get a quote......That was a week ago still haven't received a phone call. Thought about calling corporate about this horrible customer service and being lied to but what is the point?????? They obviously don't want my business. BTW............. I have called and gotten quotes from every single competitor of Davey tree since listed on angies list that services the Amherst area none of which said the tree was too close to the power lines.

I have had work done by The Davey Tree Expert Co- Buffalo. The last time I had contact with them was about a couple of months ago. I liked that their service was very efficient and very clean. The responsiveness and punctuality was great. The professionalism was very positive. I would absolutely use them again in the future if I needed to.

I was very impressed with the manner in which Davey Tree removed the huge silver maple and pine trees that were close to my house. They were meticulous in cutting each section and took extreme caution in removing the branches/trunk which had to be lifted over a section of our house. Our driveway is narrow and for them to drop these pieces into their truck was a scene to behold. At times the trunk sections put on the truck were less than two feet from our windows. I would like to comment that Davey Tree was extremely safety cautious, stopping work when we unthinkingly walked outside to see the progress. If no hard hat, you could not enter their work zone. Our neighbors were in awe of their performance and several times we had a crowd of people just standing around watching them work. Davey Tree is one of the few companies that will also grind stumps . Other companies we contacted were willing to cut the trees but we had to hire someone else to grind the stumps. As to the stumps, they took care in protecting surrounding areas by blocking off areas with a wedge so as to reduce the amount of debris. When they finished you would never have known trees were there. They raked the yard and swept away the extra shavings after filling the holes. I have received several positive comments from our neighbors and friends about the remarkable job on the tree removal and clean-up. They definitely get five stars!

Tree triming and material removal was well done. Price charged for work done was not excessive.

They removed two large trees. They were on time and took two hours to complete the job. The price was good and they were very professional.

My experience with them is going very well. I do not see them, but all I can say is that my lawn looks good. My bushes seem to be coming along. I do not think I ever met the guy who does it because I am not home during the day. He just comes and does it. He leaves me a bill and I pay it. I think their price is not exorbitant by any means. I must have investigated a little bit that is why I chose them. I know it is reasonable. I am happy with the quality of their work, and they have been really responsive.

A couple days after they performed my lawn care service I noticed approx 10' X 5" burnt line on my lawn. It was the location where they off load there equipment. I called the office and said they would have somebody come out and take a look...Has been a week and have not heard back. Had complaints in the past were spots were missed and they came out to re-apply. I have been with them I believe three years...Not sure whether I will use in the future...

The man from The Davey Tree Co in Lancaster was very direct. They came, did it, was gone in 15 minutes, and did a good job but they don't clean up after themselves. They just cut it down.

The estimate was higher than other quotes that I received. They seemed like good people to work with.

They are professional, pleasant, courteous, flexible. It took about 6 or 8 weeks for the cherry picker to arrive after I ordered the birch pruning. In this 20+ year history, we had one unhappy billing experience this year. We pay them after we receive the bill us for each treatment. On one treatment the bill was not sent out. Instead of the Buffalo office calling to follow-up, as their protocol was supposed to be, we got a letter from corporate. The letter failed to note the date and type of service. When we were billed for a service with the exact same charge soon after that, and paid that bill, we thought we had settled the matter. Again, instead of a call from their local office to check on us, a 20+ year client, we got a dunning letter. A call I placed to the district manager about this revealed even he had a similar problem with billing from corporate. The matter was quickly settled after that one phone call. The district manager even offered to cancel the specific charge as a good will gesture.

Everything done perfect. They were timely and cleaned up You would not know they were even there.

Very careful work and they cleaned the neighbours roof and yard as well as ours. Three to for hours later they were finished and the yard was clean.

They took great care of my lawn. The put a plastic tracks down to protect my grass so no damage was done when the trucks came in to take the two trees down. They guys were just excellent, they did a few extra things at no extra charge. They were very professional, they did a really great job for a reasonable rate!

First, we called a tree company that couldn't do the work for a couple of months. Then we called small company who estimated that the job would cost about $2500. That seemed high, so we decided to try Davey. We thought they might have more appropriate and larger equipment. Since their estimate was nearly $1000 less, we asked them to do it, as soon as possible. We called on the last day of September, and they called us to say they could do it by mid-October. It happened that we were going to be away then, but we decided to have them do it anyway. We arranged to leave them our garage key so they could easily move from one side of the garage to the other, and we left for our trip. When we returned, the tree was gone, the whole area was all cleaned up, and we were very happy with the job.

It is alright. They did what they were supposed to do, when they were supposed to do it.

They took the trees out in January and they couldn?t come back and do any of the extra work until April. I have always been satisfied. I called them to let them to know that I wanted them to come back and I am still waiting to hear from them. They called and I wasn?t home. I called and they haven?t gotten back to me.
