 + -1 moreThe appraiser arrived on time despite calling to say that he'd be running slightly behind, this also occurred when he arrived on the job date with his two person team to do the job. Really appreciated the respect that was given for my time as this is something I've had trouble with many other contractors in the past. The two person team took nearly 6 hours to do the job which included removal of limbs and clean up. Their clean up job was amazing and they were both very professional and courteous. The other thing that I really appreciated was that they provided copy of insurance papers upon my request and gave a very precise written estimate of the work so it was very clear what we had agreed upon. Based on manpower, equipment costs and other overhead, I'd say that it was well worth what we paid.
Description of Work: Needed a very large black walnut tree within the city pruned back from power and service lines. They shortened 3 limbs and removed one entirely as well as removed any dead wood 2in or greater in diameter.

 + -1 moreIt was good, but just a little more than I wanted to spend at the time, so I haven't called them back. I was gonna have them come back and trim but they couldn't do it and my money got tight, so I didn't have anybody trim them. It took them a while to come out to tell me what it would cost. They were good but a little on the expensive side. When I went to get more work done, it took forever to get them come out and give me an estimate.

 + -1 moreIt started off well. They came out right away to give me an estimate and I thought the rate quoted was fair. After I reviewed the work, I noticed that they forgot to trim the shrubs which was the main thing I wanted done. It took a while for them to come back out and when they did they cut the power line to my Verion Fios. Apparently a neighbor witnessed them doing this and leaving immediately. Other neighbors' were affected by this and we were without TV, phone, and internet for more than 24 hours. Davey Tree never informed me that they cut the line and they also left without trimming back the shrub. I will try someone else next time.
Description of Work: I need to have some trees and shrubs trimmed.

 + -1 moreService was great. Davey sent a three man crew to remove a tree from our backyard. It is a 100+ year old house with a narrow driveway and the tree was growing through a wooden deck. They carefully identified the correct tree (I had not even thought of that, but a good process!) and then very carefully positioned their trucks. There was less than an inch of clearance to get into the yard, but they did it without damage to house or truck. They got the tree down, including with the use of a crane that also had to make it into the back yard. I was most impressed and would highly recommend this crew and their salesman, Tom.

 + 1 moreEverything is fine. I'm very, very happy with Davey Tree. I have no problems. I've always been pleased. I've had them for a number of years, off and on. I've never had a problem. I'm always very, very pleased with what they do, whether it's chopping down a tree or giving my branches a good trim. Everything has always been okay. They keep me in their thoughts. I just know if I go with them, everything is going to be okay. I'm just willing to take that chance and I've always been happy with it.
Description of Work: I had them off and on all summer because I had grubs in my lawn. They do everything. They put mulch in and they trim.

 + -1 moreAfter seeing my original review, their office contacted me and set up an appointment to come and talk to me about the service issue. The area manager who I met with was very responsive and indicated they have a new office manager. Once they provide the services discussed with the area manager, I'll update the review again. I feel confident after talking to the area manager that they will provide the type of service that will provide them with an excellent review.
Description of Work: Very unresponsive to requests for contact. I'm not sure if it is the one salesman that was assigned to us or if the unresponsiveness we dealt with was one salesman in particular, but we will probably not use this company again.

 + 1 moreI didn't have a problem with Davey Tree Expert. I haven't had a problem. I am waiting for them to return. We have been happy with them. I wouldn't get them if I weren't happy. I have always been satisfied going back 5, 6 years or more than that. I have always had good luck with them. They just kind of go by their schedule as to how often they come in and when they do it. They always call me ahead of time. They can just come and I don't care but they call and set something up and not a problem. I have no problems one way or other with them. They are very busy but they are very good. I have had them so much for doing different things. I would grade them the highest you can go really. They are very good. They are fine on the price, not a problem, very, very good. They are very professional. They look professional. They know their work. Everything is top notch.
Description of Work: They took care of some grubs, animal grubs, just recently. I have had shrubs removed. I have had trees removed. They are working on my lawn now because I have a serious grub situation.

 + -1 moreIt went great right from the start. I had an appointment scheduled for an estimate within 24 hrs of my first email to them. The arborist came right on time. The company called within a week or so to schedule the cutting down of the trees. There was one delay because of crazy weather but I was notified that they were unable to come. Came promptly on the scheduled day. Both men were friendly and competent. Everything was cleaned up before they left. The price was more than reasonable.

When customers have to chase merchandise to do work that we the customer have to pay, it is not a good sign. Very disappointed. I will share my experience with others.

 + -1 moreIt was easy to have them come out for an estimate, and they arrived on time. They were polite and professional, and had some of the neatest handwriting I've ever seen. The price was almost exactly the same as another company quoted me, though I did not wind up choosing them because the other company was able to perform the work much sooner. Davey has you sign a paper contract and mail it in before you can schedule AND they were booked out a few weeks - but, I would have gone with them if they could have completed it sooner.
Description of Work: They came out to give an estimate to remove a 20ft pine tree and grind two stumps.

 + -1 moreThe Emerald Ash Borer injections went as planned. There were no surprises. We also called about tree fertilization and got a quote from Tim. The price was $195 to fertilize all four trees, three ash trees and one Austrian pine. Tim provided data sheets and explained everything. Clay completed the fertilization on 8/20 and again was most accommodating and answered all of my questions. We plan to have the Austrian Pine tip blight treatment in the Spring.
Description of Work: Davey Tree treated three Ash trees for the Emerald Ash Borer with trunk injections. We first met with Tim and received an estimate for the Emerald Ash Borer treatment, and also consulted with him regarding our Austrian Pine. Tim was very knowledgeable and explained the tip blight problem with the Austrian Pine. He also explained another problem with our Ash trees, antracnose disease, which causes the tree to lose quite a few leaves prematurely. Tim provided detailed data sheets for both of these problems. He also provided data sheets for the different types of Emerald Ash Borer treatments. These were very helpful and allowed us to review the problems and treatments after he left. Clay performed the Ash tree injections about a week after we met with Tim. He called before coming and explained everything while he was here. We also discussed tree fertilization with Clay and plan to have the Austrian Pine and the Ash trees fertilized by Davey Tree in the near future. We will also be scheduling treatments for the Austrian Pine tip blight problem in the Spring. Both Tim and Clay were very knowledgeable and courteous. In our opinion, Davey Tree is the premier service to use, and we will be using them again.

 + -1 moreWe started using Davey to treat our yard when we moved in late in the Summer of 2013. When we bought our house, the lawn was untreated and there were various trees and shrubs that looked to be in distress and overgrown. We contacted the Davey Tree COmpany to give us an estimate on lawn treatments that would cure our weed and insect (crane fly) problems and also to give us some advise on our trees. The folks at Davey gave us a comprehensive report of what weeds were infesting our lawn and also advised on how to best deal with our trees. It turned out that the trees were healthy and only needed a little trimming TLC and they would be able to start us on a program to kill the weeds and deal with the crane flies and their larvae. This summer, our lawn is coming in beautifully with nary a weed in sight. After trimming back our trees, they look healthy and are doing well. We are very pleased with the service that Davey provided and would recommend them to anyone looking to spruce up their curb appeal.

They still left some limbs over hanging the driveway that I would have preferred to have trimmed back. I am hoping the work completed will keep the tree healthy and stronger. I currently have a couple of calls in to their office to ask about the limbs over the driveway, We will see what happens.

 + 0 moreReceived 4 bids to remove 1 40' maple tree, one 20' dead pine and to trim 40' oak and a 40' maple. Tree removal included stump grinding, removal of all debris and removal of all stump debris. Met with Tim Czarnecki, arborist, before hand to determine health of trees. Tim was responsive to my questions and concerns and was helpful when determining health of trees. Met with crew chief on the morning of the job completion to review work. When i returned home in the afternoon, the crew was done and gone. All debris was thoroughly cleaned up and both trees were well trimmed. Stump grindings were cleaned up and removed as well. Do not expect every piece of debris to be cleaned up as that is next to impossible. Price was very good and included grinding removal, which no one else offered. This alone is worth a few hundred $$ from a landscaper.
