Dundee Plumbing & Heating

This is the second time in the past month that I utilized the services of Dundee Plumbing & Heating. The first time was a minor job to correct a problem with my toilet. At that time the gave me some suggestions with respect to my plans to replace the faucet in my kitchen. I soon discovered that the hot water valve needed to be replaced so I called Dundee. As before, they were prompt, very courteous and friendly, and price competitive. The job was completed in under an hour and I could not be more pleased with the results. I recommend them highly.

My boiler had started flooding itself this winter and I had to drain out buckets of water each day. I suspected that the make up water valve was leaking by but was not sure and did not know how to change it myself. After a few weeks of emptying out buckets of water each day, I knew the problem would not fix itself and gave Dundee a call. The provider was flexible and available with scheduling. I had to reschedule the original appointment and they accommodated well. The provider was punctual for the appointment, and there were 2 guys. They knew what the problem was right away and put in a new ball valve in the boiler feed line which fixed the flooding problem. They also changed out a leaky gage glass and cleaned and inspected the boiler. This was all done in less then an hour, and they cleaned up after themselves and were professional. There was a small problem with the old valve that I noticed after they left though. They took off the valve handle itself but left the valve body in the line. That valve was left open, and I noticed a slow leak from the stem.

I called them to install a new Garbage Disposal in out kitchen. They were very professional and great to work with. Since we live in a co-op there was also a lot of paperwork involved and they also were very patient with all of that. I would hire them again in the future.

I am not happy at all with them. They didn't do a good job. The plumbing was all in place and all they had to do was remove the tile and put the base in that. He went on about it being a big and difficult job. He kept asking me if it was in place when I already told him it was in place. He said he didn't like the base and that it wasn't any good and he couldn't use it. He had two other workers with him and they said it was okay and that it just had a plastic cover on it. He very reluctantly started the job. He kept coming and going and there was no need for that. The job could have been done in half the time because they just had to take the tiles off and put the base in there. When the tile guy came, he said it was just there and it hadn't been fixed. I had all the shower stuff in a box and somehow the shower head was missing and he gave me a shower head so I didn't have to buy it again. The price didn't make any sense because he didn't have to get an supplies except for the head because I had them. He was there for 4 hours. He came when he was supposed to. He was also supposed to do a kitchen faucet and he said he couldn't do it because there was a shelf blocking it. He said he would come back when I got that cut so I had to call a carpenter to cut the shelf. When I called him to do it, he upped his price and said it wasn't going to be $100 and it was going to be $149.

They did respond very quickly. They came to my home and they did an excellent job. The work was very expensive but it was an emergency. They came earlier than they said they could, they were very professional, and they cleaned up after themselves.

They came to my home on Monday morning, provided me with an estimate and completed the service the following day. They were very prompt for the service! They removed and installed a new toilet for me and cleaned everything up very nicely. They also removed and hauled the old toilet from my home which many providers don't offer to do! Very impressed with their service and will certainly use them again in the future!

Called for an estimate to repair a whole building in NYC but the receptionist just said "we don't have time to come out to the city" and I hung up. Convo lasted about 10 seconds.

I bought a new dishwasher from Sears that they were unable to install. It turns out the old dishwasher was "hard-piped" into the plumbing, so that needed to be closed up and new plumbing installed under the sink. The plumbers were about 45 minutes late, but given the weather lately, that was not a surprise. And they did call to let me know they were running late. But once there, they went right to work. Old dishwasher removed (and taken to the curb), pipes closed up, new plumbing installed under the sink, new dishwasher installed, and everything cleaned up after. New dishwasher is working great. I believe that the work to close up the pipes at the dishwasher site and in the basement was more intensive than I'm making it sound here. One thing I might quibble about is that they did not use the dishwasher hose that Sears sold to me to use with the dishwasher, and Dundee did charge me for parts. So if one of those parts they charged me for was a hose, I would have liked to know why they didn't use the one provided. Another thing is they showed up around 8:45 and left about 11:30, taking a 20-minute break in between. So that works out to about 2 1/2 hours for which I was charged approx. $500 in labor. I can't make the $145 an hour I was quoted work with that unless I'm charged for travel time (in which case that 45 minutes becomes more important), or I was charged for the apprentice that was with him. If either of these is the case, that would also have been nice to know. But assuming the charges were fair (which I am) and knowing that the work was done well, you can color me happy with Dundee.

It was more expensive that I expected. I called them on a Friday and they came on Monday, so they were very prompt about coming which was good though.

They got there early and Sonny and Anthony got right to work. They answered all my questions. Work and clean up were great too.

Owner showed up, was pleasant and personable. He made me feel good that my boiler was in overall good condition and really did not need any other maintenance. I was ready to pay for a lot more. He even showed me some do-it-yourself troubleshooting tricks to help my avoid the same problem in the future,

Workmen came between allotted time. They had to leave for about 90 minutes to find a part they needed though. Besides that completed the work quickly and cleanly.

Called and left message. Call was returned within 45 minutes. Appointment made. Worker arrived within time frame. Asked if I wanted to replace or fix. Opted for fixing. Gave me estimate of cost. Said he would get parts and return within 45 minutes. Arrived back in 30 minutes with parts. Proceeded to fix. Job completed promptly. Cost was a little less than estimate as he didn't need to use all new parts. Clean up was spotless.

Sonny and Anthony arrived on time, were professional, courteous and neat. I would not hesitate to use this company for any plumbing needs in the future. thank you for providing good service, a reasonable price, and doing a good job.

I called today and spoke to Joanne. I told her that I found their company on Angie's list and that I needed a gas boiler repaired. I gave her the address and she asked what part of Brooklyn this is. I told her and she immediately said that they DO NOT service Brooklyn although their "Service Area" lists Manhattan, Queens and BROOKLYN. I said ok and hung up. I know Brooklyn is a large borough, but I thought about it and called back. I mentioned to Joanne that I live on the border of Brooklyn and Queens and only 8 miles from their listed address. She said ok and that she would check with 'him' (whoever that is) and call me back. She called back and left me a message stating that he doesn't go to Brooklyn. Hmmm or is it that he doesn't service certain Brooklyn neighborhoods. If they do not work in Brooklyn, it should not be listed as a service area in my Search results, therefore, wasting my valuable time.

I needed the gas cut off by a professional. I like his promptness and kindness. He was very good. He gave us 10% for being members.

It went very well. They removed the old one, prepare the area for the installation.Installed the new boiler tested it, and completed the entire job in a day. Well done professionally by their staff. Ian performed the final QA inspection prior to leaving my premise.

They took care of all the hard stuff, dealing with ConEd, and managing the entire conversion process over the months of difficulties getting ConEd to change the service. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to convert their home to gas.

They were on time. He was very straightforward, gave me an estimate and there was something that he couldn't do. However, he was great.
