Cutabove started in 2000 as a landscape service and maintenance company
We soon branched out into the Design & Build aspect of the landscape business
Our company has taken the time and effort to gain the knowledge and equipment needed to install Brick paver side walks, patios & walls.
Home base for us is a 3000 square foot work shop on the southern border Mendon Ponds Park.
Description of Work: Removed concrete walkway; installed brick walkway and patio. Prepared garden bed (large) mulched and provided extra mulch. Installed stone paths throughout garden space. Provided extra stone. Did an excellent job and completed on time.
Description of Work: Paul created a maintenance free patio that is fenced in. He installed a unique brick circle for a table and chairs after leveling the ground and removing soil. He installed bricks under the fencing so that the remainder of the area could safely be used as a dog run. After laying down durable material to block the weeds, he covered the rest of the area with small stones. He will be back next summer to complete his design with plantings. He was the consummate professional and took great care with each and every component of the design.

Description of Work: Paul put in a winding paver sidewalk from my driveway to the front door. The curved cuts are perfect and all-in-all he's a master at his craft. He was very patient answering the multitude of questions I had and was more than attentive to my concerns. | |Paul has a business that he really cares about and it shows with his approach to customer service. I had quotes ad nauseam, but in the end I went with him, because he was reasonable, knowledgeable and personable.

Paul is far and above the best landscaping contractor we have ever used (we've owned several homes over the years). He is thoughtful and responsive; he listened to my concerns and suggested several solutions of varying price points. He removed a tree, ground the stump, and removed all debris. Very neat and tidy. Paul cleaned up and and removed all debris, excavated soil, re-seeded, and left the area looking great! We will hire Paul for future projects without hesitation. As my wife put it, "If only we could find a "Paul" for roofing, pluming, etc."

Description of Work: Paul put in a paver patio and steps to form a small back landing for my entrance. He was quick in providing me with a written estimate and design of the patio. His price was reasonable and he was prompt in starting the project and ending the job on time. He was meticulous in planning the project and was attentive to details. He was helpful to me in selecting the patio stones. He was responsive to my calls and questions before and throughout the duration of the project. Paul did a great job and I would hire him for future projects and highly recommend him.

I can't say enough positive things about my experience with Cut Above Landscaping. From the onset when Paul came to my house to give me an estimate, it was a pleasure working with him. The cost of the project was far less than any other estimate I received and the quality of the work was amazing. I would highly recommended this company.

It went so well. It was interesting watching him work and he helped us so much in the design and building materials. He is a true professional and so meticulate.
Description of Work: Paul Dulieu, the owner of the company removed our cement sidewalk. He then created a beautiful 4x6 walkway from our driveway to our breezeway.
Paul did an awesome job, and we are very pleased with the finished result. The project itself was not an easy process, but Paul was very professional and did everything the right way. Day one of the project started off with those heavy rains that seemed to go on forever this past June. As a result, he could not really get started until the next day--trying to drive heavy equipment on a damp lawn is a terrible idea, and Paul did not want to do damage to our yard. When he was able to begin, it was really touch-and-go the whole project through--the rain was relentless! But that being said, Paul was there whenever the weather allowed, and even worked through the weekend (even Sunday). He was there early each day he could work and stayed late. He also kept us informed via a call or text if he was unable to move forward due to weather. We truly appreciated his patience and determination. Now on to the quality of the work. The finished patio looks like a work of art! Paul worked with my husband to create a custom design--it is kind of a kidney shape with a path to the back of our home. There is also a short wall on one edge of the patio. We used Cambridge pavers. Paul was very meticulous as he set up the patio. Everyone that has been over to our home to see it is highly impressed with the finished product, and we just love hanging out on it. I should also mention that he was accommodating for our budget--we were able to work together to determine a design that we liked, but that also did not exceed our budget. Prior to this project, the area immediately behind our house was a mess--it was not graded properly and we had a lot of issues with standing water. We knew that there had been an in-ground pool at the house with the previous owners, but we were wrongly made to believe it had been removed properly. Paul took care of that with a jackhammer, and he removed the resulting chunks of concrete. He also installed a drainage system under the patio to help direct water away and into a gully several feet away. The yard is also graded properly now, and it just looks so much better. We are so very grateful to Paul and his team at Cut Above Landscaping!! Thank you for a job well done and for your positive attitude and professionalism!
Description of Work: A Cut Above Landscaping's Paul Dulieu installed a beautiful paver patio with material from the Cambridge Roundtable Collection. The project also included a shorter wall on one edge of the patio. In addition to that, he removed the wall from an improperly decommissioned in-ground pool (courtesy of the contractors that flipped the house before we purchased it), removed a bunch of unsightly gravel and debris from the yard, and properly graded the ground. To finish it off, he brought in some nice top soil.
Paul is very knowledgeable and helped resolve issues on my property quickly and cost effectively. He's professional and committed to getting the job done. He worked several long days in a row into the night, through a weekend, and even in bad weather to get the job done.
Description of Work: Cleared 2 large areas of overgrown bushes and briers. Dug out and installed drainage pipe, back filled with stone. Put down top soil, grass seed, and fertilizer.

I inquired with Paul (owner/operator of A Cut Above Landscaping) to have a new patio installed. He was very responsive and scheduled a time to meet to go over what I was looking for. We laid out a plan to install a 400 sq. ft. paver patio with slab steps, window wells. Doing this required removing an old, cracked, and heaved concrete patio that was roughly 800 sq. ft.. Removing the old patio also required repair and installation of a portion of new cinder block to the basement foundation wall, which Paul took care of. Overall project took roughly a week from start to finish. Couldn't be more pleased with the job and will be looking to have the front of the house done with A Cut Above Landscaping next spring.
Description of Work: Concrete Patio Removal and Paver Patio and Slab Steps Installation
Paul was very responsive to my initial phone call asking him to come out to give me an estimate and he came out within 2 days. He listened very carefully to my concerns about the old patio tilting toward the house and rainwater seeping in. He explained exactly how he would solve that problem with the new patio and also how he would remove the old concrete step and work around a basement window. He gave me brochures and recommended I visit Weckesser Brick to look at samples. I did just that. Paul let me know a couple weeks in advance when he would be arriving to start the project and he did exactly that. In fact he preferred to start at 9 a.m. so not to disturb any neighbors for the first day where he had to break up the existing concrete. He cleaned up all the busted up concrete thoroughly and hauled it away. He spent 2 days preparing a thorough and deep base, removing soil, levelling it off away from the house, then putting in the base layer and tamping that down and then putting down the sand layer. He kept me apprised of how he was pitching each layer away from the house and was thorough in how he explained everything he was doing and why. I could tell that he was very thorough at each step. I am retired so I could look out the window to see the progress each day. Today was the last day he was here and again he explained each step he was doing. I was very impressed with the cleanup he did. The Bobcat necessarily tore up my back lawn a bit and Paul made sure to clean up and lessen any damage. He had to remove a bluestone walkway to get the machine in and remove the gate on the fence and everything got put back together. He made sure to have a beautifully level area around the patio where everything had been dug up-he put down topsoil then grass seed too. These pavers are very unusual in that they are about 5" x 30" and look like weathered lumber even though they are concrete. Paul loved the look and he was very happy to take pictures to show his future clients.

The owner Paul was a very nice man to talk to, and was very professional throughout. He seemed to know his stuff. Once he started working, that impression was reinforced by his unhurried meticulousness. Each individual stone was carefully placed; it was not like an assembly line. Paul was careful to inflict minimal damage to our yard by his heavy machinery, and went to the trouble of doing some restoration work to our yard afterwards. Unlike others who seem to always say that "cleanup is your responsibility," this guy did it all himself, including seeding around the worksite and where his tractor trampled our grass. Of course it's brand new now, but the patio looks great. I believe it's going to last a long time. He created a great foundation underneath and used excellent products for bonding in the spaces between the stones. The ONLY hiccup was a little back-and-forth about exactly how many square feet we were asking him to do, but that was because the shape was very irregular and hard to compute. He gave us one estimate of area. My spouse and I both computed the area in very different ways and came up with the same number which was less than his. He agreed to it without complaint. Afterwards we both agreed that we could see how one might have accidentally come up with his original figure, so this is really not a sore point with us at all. I only mention it because it's always good to double-check numbers anyone gives you, whether they are trustworthy or not. We decided to take a chance and go for one of the Angie's Deals, which means we paid money up front without really having a chance to talk to the contractor, although we knew his name and could read his reviews. A warning about these deals, though. They only cover what's stated in the deal, and any additional work is charged at the contractor's normal price. In our case that was a huge difference, since we went from the offered 8x10 patio to something in excess of 400 sq. ft. I'm not sure I'll use a Deal again because I'm not comfortable shelling out money that early in the process.

Paul called to set up a date soon after i bought the Angie's Big deal. He came out and we talked about what we wanted, which was much bigger than the Big deal that I purchases. He set a price that was in line with the quotation for extra square footage set up in the big deal. He came when he said he would and worked very hard. He replaced any dirt that was disturbed during the work and put down grass seed. it looks great and we are very happy. Paul is also a really nice guy and very respectful and courteous.

This work will begin on june 9th but the review was requested before May 30th. My initial consultation went extremely well. Paul was on time for the appointment...he was easy to talk to and explained procedures and materials recommended. He answered all questions and we remain in contact via e-mail prior to his beginning the work. I would be happy to re-write this review after the work is completed if you wish.
Description of Work: puting in new paver walkway, remove current cement sidewalk, remove all current plantings, install two pop-up drains, plant numerous items in frontyard, in front of utility box, and around rear deck. Install grass seed in some areas and new mulch front and back.
Paul offered a better solution than a few other contractors. He was efficient and professional, cleaned up, even moved the dirt taken from the hole to a place in our yard where we can use it. His price was very reasonable. And our large puddle is gone!
Description of Work: Paul dug a trench and filled it with gravel to solve a drainage problem.
Paul came with another contractor that we hired for concrete work. They did a very good job. We were quite satisfied. They came when they said they would and finished when they said they would. We then hired Paul to dig out soil that had washed into the creek on our property. Did a good job at a reasonable price. Would hire Paul again.
