Mitra Tiles

I have yet to receive service and he doesn’t return my calls. Initially I had a contractor I wanted to work with to do my bathroom. This contractor wouldn’t work with someone outside of their business. When I found out that he couldn’t do my bathroom, I asked about getting a refund. He said it was beyond the point of when I could get a refund so I figured he could do a project for my kitchen. We went back and forth on a schedule as we both had very busy schedules. I finally said for him to give a date for him to come out and I would make it work. He did come out to look at the project and provided some suggestions. I told him that I didn’t want to spend as much as he was suggesting. I ended up going to the tile shop to look at tile and I was told that the type he suggested for the kitchen shouldn't be installed within the kitchen. Then I started doubting his suggestions. We started going back and forth again and eventually he stopped responding. I did get one final call from him. He was attempting to call another customer but when he realized it was me he said he would need to call me back. I’ve never heard from him again.

I have hired Mitra Tiles before, so I already knew that I would be getting the highest quality work from an honest, meticulous, and artistic person, and for an extremely fair rate. My basement had been pretty seriously damaged after a storm, and I decided that this was my opportunity to fix it up so that it's not only cleaner and nicer looking, but also more durable should we ever get hit that way again. Dmitry was so accommodating to the point that it was actually rather moving. He realized that we were in a bit of an emergency and came to help us right away. He was also very sympathetic regarding all the storm damage and gave us a nice break on the price. We were in a vulnerable position and saw neighbors being ripped off by contractor over contractor, so it was just such a relief to have someone talk to us like an actual human being. Since I was already familiar with Dmitry from the work he did on my house a year or so ago, I felt comfortable leaving him with the keys to my home while I was at work and even when I was away for a long weekend. At the end of each day, I would walk inside and everything would be spic-and-span! He left everything organized and clean, with all surfaces wiped, so that I didn't have to deal with any of the usual inconveniences of having workmen in the house. One day at a time, not only did he make our house feel like our home again, but he gave us a pretty substantial upgrade! As I knew he would, Dmitry did an absolutely impeccable job and even fixed up some additional areas around our house, including re-glazing our bathtub in our downstairs bathroom. It's amazing how you can feel so hopeless at one moment, and then if you just find one good person to help you, they can turn everything around. Mitra Tiles gave me and my family a beautiful home again, along with the ability to sleep easy again.

Though it took some time to schedule the job, Dmitri did excellent work. He was meticulous, efficient and tidy. He also did a good job of explaining what was involved. Despite some initial frustration about the scheduling - Dmitri later explained that he had had a family emergency and was out of reach - I would recommend him for really great tiling. He's also a very nice guy and pleasant to have in your home.

We look forward to contacting him to do the work in the future. He had great ideas, gets good reviews, was punctual and I have full confidence he'll do a good job.

He came to look at the job and told me it was too small. He was very pleasant about it. But said it was too small.

Dimitri arrived for a consultation as arranged. He was very polite and professional. We were just having a small job done but he was just as responsive as if it were a larger job. He made some good suggestions to make the final outcome look a little more attractive than we would have thought of. We bought the materials and he arrived as scheduled (and it was a bit of a trip for him!) His work was neat and precise. He had to come twice - so he didn;t rush the work although it was a ways for him to travel. We were very happy with the outcome -- it looked better than we thought it would even! We would definiltely use Mitra again.

Overall, it went very well, once we understood we were not getting a soup to nuts person that could help us find, purchase and install the tiles. He is a very diligent worker and we liked him vey much. We expect to have him back to tile another room for us.

I spoke with them on the phone a few times and agreed to do the job that Spring. Once Spring came, we tried to call him but he never called us back and we actually got a refund for the Deal from Angie's List when he refused to even call them back.

I had a leak in the upstairs bathroom shower stall that showed up in my kitchen downstairs. I was advised to replace the entire floor with smaller tiles. These were onyx and very expensive. It was hard for him to get the appropriate color because some of the side tiles also needed to be replaced. He finally used tiles that I already had for the walls and new smaller ones for the floor. So thousands of dollars later, I still have the leak. It was probably coming from the wall, not the floor; or the plumbing and not the tiles. We also had to use an expensive epoxy grout. It took months before it was over. The wall/floor joins are not that great. He was a nice guy though.

15% of work unfinished. 4hrs of additional tiling service purchased, but not delivered.

I have no concerns; the guy is an artist. I will use him again in the future.

I was very dissatisfied and have been reluctant to buy any more coupons based on this experience.

The services were very personable and flexible. He new what they were doing professionally. The price was very good and he gave great deal. He did an overall excellent job.

I sent photos and measurements to Dmitri before he came, because the Jersey Shore is a long drive from NYC. He was very responsive and scheduled an installation within a reasonable time from initial contact. He arrived fully prepared to do the job, along with an assistant. Note that the assistant's time is also charged so if you buy a certificate you are getting half the expert's time and half the assistant's time and trust me, the assistant was no expert (most of what he did Dimitri had to come back and re-do). To Dimitri's credit he did come back and re-do the small amount of tile floor repair I had asked to have done as part of the job, and promptly. I get constant compliments on the backsplash and feel the job was well executed. Dmitri is a charming, easy-to deal-with young man who considers his work an art, not a craft. I think you will be very pleased with the job he does for you.

It turned out that the job was too big for the allotted 4 hours. Dmitry was inundated with calls about the Deal, but he did a great job in contacting us and coming to our house to look at the job as fast as he could. We found someone else who could do he job, but we were pleased with out interaction with Mitra Tiles.

Dmitry is more than just a professional- he is a meticulous, careful, considerate and courteous human being. His work is more of a specialist or a craftsman than just any ordinary "tile contractor". In my professional practice of architecture/interior design for the past 15 years for high end retail and residential clients in NYC- I can truly say that Dmitry is a special "find". He is passionate about his work (and life in general)- and it shows. Regardless of any question or concern I had- I felt comfortable and completely satisfied with his answers, his open-mindedness suggestions, as well as his recommendations and problem-solving attitude. Everything he does is hands on, and taken care of directly by him personally. I scheduled work with Dmitry months in advance- and my planning revolved not only around my professional schedule but more importantly around my infant daughter's daily activities/schedule needs around the house. He was concise when needed and flexible when needed. As a completely unexpected event- I got a call from my nanny within the last few hours of Dmitry's work at my home- and I had to call 911 as my daughter was being rushed to the hospital after a febrile seizure. Everything turned out fine, thank heavens- and when I came home that night from the ER, Dmitry had called me to see how we were all doing. That personal note aside- I wouldn't hesitate to call on Dmitry again for any future work, and would definitely recommend him to friends and family, as well as any professional work that was within my power to "award". He's likely always going to be busy (as the "best" always are), so it makes sense to plan out in advance any work- though Dmitry is so easy-going that if he could fit you in- I have no doubt he would. I called several times and they never called me back. Over the course of 6 weeks I had emailed and also called them, but still received no response. I decided to get a refund and go with a different company.

The work was excellent. He was a little busy due to the volume he had in regards to the Big Deal., so it took a while to get to me. I was unable to finish up with him due to that. However, the work he did do was fantastic!

Dmitry arrived on time and worked thoughout the day without taking a break. His work was outstanding with beautiful results. He is a perfectionist which shows in the finished product.

I used the Angie's List coupon to tile an area underneath my stairs. When I emailed Dmitri, he called the next day to schedule an appointment to see the job. He arrived promptly and reviewed the situation and we scheduled a time to do the work a few days later. Again, he arrived promptly when scheduled and texted me just before arriving. He completed the work very nicely and even added some decorative touches (diamond shaped tiles) near the edge to give the space more visual interest. Afterwards, he cleaned up nicely. Overall, I was very pleased with this vendor.

Dimitri always arrived on time at 8:30 am and got right to work. His cuts were perfect, and every tile and grout line went in straight. When I saw 1 tile I didn't like the look of, there was no problem replacing it. I used extra tiles from a different project, and when we were 1 short, rather than doing a "quick fix," he went to the store, got the proper piece, and did the job right. To the people leaving negative feedback because he took a long time to get back to them, I would say you just need to let him get to you. When he left my house at 5:30, he was going to do 3 consultations. His phone never stopped ringing throughout the day. If you want your job done right away, yes- there are big company's that will be there to do the job in a week. If you want it done right, it pays off to wait for Dimitri.

Agree that this company has poor communication. Bought 2 coupons from Angie's Big Deal to tile my kitchen then called to consult with him about the project. Out of four messages left, he only returned one; in another message I asked him to let me know when is a good time to catch him, he never called back. I understand if he is overwhelmed with work but there's no excuse for ignoring customers. Was able to get a refund but wasted time dealing with this company.

They had poor communication. They did not return phone calls or keep appointments.
