Santon Landscape Design and Construction is FANTASTIC! We were so impressed with their ability to tackle a tough situation we just kept asking them to come back for other services we needed addressed. It worked out great. I'd use them again if I lived in the area. Hector Alonso was a great contact. Angie's List completely aided in rescuing my family from what could have been a very bad situation. Instead our very bad situation turned into a less than ideal situation and for that we are completely grateful. After the news of a relative passing in the winter of 2013 my family and I had inherited a home that had been in our family since the 1950's. The home was in rough shape but salvageable and structurally in good condition; however the closest family member was at least 2.5 hours away. I am happy to report that the home went on the market in the summer of 2013 and we just closed on the home December of 2013. I know none of this wouldn't have been possible without Santon Landscape Design and Construction and the Angie's List community. Andrea V.

Usually i don't go with the guy with the cheapest price but hector santon not only was the best price but he has an ability and vision to put your mind at ease. He came in 7k cheaper than some other companies. From start to finish it was a pleasure having hector and his guys do the job. They kept within timeframe and did excellent work with no surprises along the way. I can't recommend santon design highly enough. They also do maintenance so I am now a customer of hectors for life.

The owner came to do an appraisal. In three days, the work was done, and they cleaned up their mess as well.

We were very pleased with Hector's work. He returned our call immediately and arrived for the appointment at our house on time. We needed fencing replaced and gated stairs added to our outdoor deck. Hector and his people did a lovely job. It should be mentioned that we weren't 100 per cent happy with the fencing, but the guys were over the very next day and fixed it to our complete satisfaction. That kind of responsiveness and service means a lot. We plan to use Hector again soon for some other projects and are SO happy to have found him on Angies List.

He was prompt to come by, had ideas and lots to say about other work I had had done in the past. He spoke about his preferences for my deck and after I asked about prior work, he said he'd get the info to me . That was the last I heard from him.

We had Santon Landscaping do our backyard patio and stairs with pavers and it came out great. Everything went smoothly from the design to the completion of the work. Hector and all the workers were extremely professional and did great work.

He was very reliable and extremely neat. You didn't even notice he was there after he was gone. He also gave me a very good price.

They were great. He does a little bit of everything, which was great because we had a little bit of everything to do. We were in the Sandy area and all of our stuff was destroyed. He came back a few different times. The landscaping was $3,000. My son compared prices and he may have been a tad cheaper than a few other people we spoke to. He was always on time and came when he said. We have recommended him and would use him again.

Tim did a great job. Our house is low to the ground, which created a challenge properly grading the driveway to drain water away from the house. There was little margin for error. The driveway not only looks fabulous, but the grade is perfect. We have had 2 heavy rains since the driveway was completed, and the water drainage was excellent. Tim did not give us a date for the job in advance, but he called the day before and the job was complete within a reasonable time period.

My interaction with Hector Sasaguay (not his real last name, by the way, different one given on his cell phone, first sign something wasn't right...) didn't even get to the point of an agreed contract and service. Nevertheless, over a week's worth of negotiations I learned a lot and wanted to share my experience, so others look before leaping with this contractor, and perhaps save themselves some time and money. The experience was a perfect illustration of what happens when a contractor's number of good reviews goes to his head and he, consequently, gets not only cocky, but sloppy. My wife took an active part in the negotiations with me for a substantial clean-up and spruce-up of our 2 acres of property (not the largest, I'm sure, this landscaper has handled, but not the smallest, most likely, either). I made it very clear from the very beginning that my wife would be handling the direction and supervision of the work, so to please defer to her as well as myself throughout the process. We walked the property with Hector, and basically discovered one big tree, and two to three smaller trees downed from the storm this past fall and winter. Aside from that, we had a lot of leaves that needed to be removed, and a lawn that needed to be seeded, mowed, and fertilized. The trees were at the rear of the property, but we had lawn work that needed to be done on both the sides and front of the property. Hector returns the next day with a proposal and proceeds to explain to me how it will cost me approximately $10,000.00 (including tax) to clear a few trees and spruce up our lawn. He then attempts to convince me what a good price he's giving me for this job, as other landscapers would certainly take advantage and charge anywhere from $15-20,000.00 for the job (not true). When I tested him and told him (falsely) that one had quoted me for $20,000.00 already, his eyes popped opened wide with surprise, and he says, and quot;No kidding!and quot; This was his first rather conspicuous blunder/misstep. The next one was his tense body movements illustrating he was extremely uncomfortable as my wife went over the contract with us and began to point out some redundancies and errors in the write-up. My wife then excused herself to take care of the kids, and Hector was left alone with me at the negotiating table. Even though both my wife's and my name were listed as owners of the property at the top of the contract, he then attempts to wheel and deal with only me, in an attempt to close the deal, taking advantage of my wife's absence. I play along, looking to see what his next steps would be, and take out my checkbook (on my wife's and my joint account), writing him a deposit for $3,000.00. I tell him I think he's making us a good offer, and I put out my hand to shake that he has a deal. He shakes it, takes the check, I sign the agreement, and he then gets up abruptly to leave before my wife is able to come back and chime in. He shakes hands with me one more time, and then proceeds to walk quickly out the door. Incredulous that anyone would be so stupid as to think that a contract is valid and binding when only one of the two owners listed at the top signs, I tell my wife the story and she could not get over his actions and misogynistic behavior. I immediately put a stop payment on the check I gave him and call him a few days later telling him the deal is invalid. Later, looking at the contract he'd written up more closely, I noticed numerous redundancies, as well as phrase and word manipulations he had made (hiding behind a staged act of clumsiness with English) that basically rendered the entire proposal valid only for the REAR of the property. In other words, had both my wife and myself signed it, the sides and front of the property would not have been covered under the contract as he wrote it. They might have mowed the lawn there, they just probably wouldn't have done much else. In all, the experience was a lesson in not only testing out a contractor before you sign anything official; it was also an illustration of how they can (and will!) manipulate wording in a contract that, if you're not careful when reading it, can have serious repercussions later. This guy was a slick swindler, high on his reputation, who thought, erroneously, that he had had a deal in the bag with a bunch of wet-behind-the-ears homeowners. He was mistaken....and I hope future readers take note of his mistakes.

I thought they seemed okay. When I looked on Angie's List I saw that they did pretty much everything, but I didn't use them because their price was too much. I did have to call them a couple of times until they finally got back to me.

Vendor never responded to 2 voicemail messages left in early February seeking an appointment for an estimate. Guess they don't need the work!

Contracted their services for Feb and March. A bit high priced--only because we haven't had that much snow, otherwise, quite pleased with service. Polite, efficient, on time. Once we had to call to request and quot;no salt,and quot; and our voice message was answered promptly. Work was performed as promised. Shoveling was done down to the payment! Even that pile at the end of the driveway that the town plow creates. For two storms that stopped in the middle of the night, we awoke to cleared property--what a pleasure! I tell you, my husband and I were considering moving out of NY to get away from the snow, but now with this service, we can rethink that. It gives me comfort to know that as we get older, he won't have to tax himself to shovel.

Fabulous! They were prompt, polite, neat, hardworking...I have no complaints at all! This is how home renovations should go!

Hector is a gentleman.Whenever I call he answers promptly and is always polite.He has come at each snow and even put sand down once when it was sleet and ice. I would recommend him to anyone. He is excellent.

The person was very nice. He was very friendly. He explained everything. He was not too pushy or aggressive.

Overall it was a very enjoyable experience dealing with this company. I have no and quot;don'tsand quot; but 'DOand quot; recommend them.

OUTSTANDING, QUALITY WORK!!! Very detailed oriented and they clean-up after them selves. Well worth every penny!

Exchanged e-mail messages. The messages were very cryptic. I provided my phone number to set up an appointment for an estimate and he (Hector) never called.

The job went very smoothly. All work was professionally done, completed as agreed, and looks great. Areas of my basement were prone to water due to improper grading of the landscape around my home, the lack of a drywell and issues with a stone patio. Santon Landscaping came in and repaired the outside issues and then repaired the damage inside the house. It looks great. They were punctual. careful and professional. I was given a written estimate of all work. Everything was completed as per the estimate. Great job!

I called Hector on Tuesday July 24 and made an appointment for the following Thursday. He came and we told him what we needed done. He gave us a price for the initial cleanup which we thought very fair and a price for weekly lawn maintenance and flower bed and bushes maintenance every other week.. The initial cleanup was done and very well done. I haven't seen the grounds and bushes look so well in years. We are very happy with the work that Hector's crew did. They were thorough and cleaned up afterward. We will be using them for regular lawn and yard maintenance from now on.

called Hector based on other reviews I saw. He showed up same day to give a estimate. estimate was very fair and we decided to move foward with his company. His crew showed up appx 10 days later and put in the base of the deck in compressed wood. 2 days later they came back and put in the rest of the deck landing steps, electric, lighting and a gutter on our garage. The crew cleaned up nicely. the job was done exactly as we had agreed and wanted. The colors were his recommendation and were better then we had thought it would look like. We are extremely happy and plan on using in the future.
