Description of Work: I got several estimates for replacing my ancient furnace. A Johnson had reasonable prices, and I appreciated that they took the time to explain my options thoroughly. The actual installation took several hours, which was longer than I expected, but the installers were pleasant and got the job done well.

Description of Work: A. Johnson Plumbing and Heating replaced my gas powered forced hot air furnace, installed new central air and replaced my gas-powered hot-water heater. I went for the top-of-the line furnace and AC. Everything has worked very well for me. Since the system I bought was expensive, I appreciated that they arranged interest-free financing for the work. I expect to finish paying for it in September. I have not seen any savings on my fuel or electricity bills. However, When they did the work, I had them expand the heating and cooling to include nearly all of my basement, which was previously not included. So that expansion may account for not achieving any energy savings. I have a service contract with them and they continue to monitor and meet my HVAC and plumbing needs. I also have an appointment with them to conduct a free energy audit of my house in a few weeks. I appreciate their professionalism and responsiveness to my requests for service.

Description of Work: Free Energy audit-insulated backside of home, insulated attic door,installed crawl space vapor barrier,insulated pipes in crawlspace, bathroom exhaust fan. Also duct cleaning. Work started in August and continued until Late January. Primary request was to fix pipes from freezing and heat loss in window and skylight. Garden Window and skylight remain drafty. Will wait for successful outcome of freezing pipes this winter. Owner got involved and did some additional insulation in crawl space/bathroom area and was very accommodating but success will depend on 2015 winter. Very long, drawn out process. They seemed to have difficulty in locating the problem pipe and reason for skylight/window draft.

+ 0 moreThey are one company that you should never use. They are so overpriced, it is unbelievable. They do reasonably good work but they are just unbelievably expensive. I had also asked them to look at a water pipe that was clogged up and needed changing and it was so expensive that I told them not to do the work. I asked them about the price for a cheaper pipe and they would not tell me that. They will always tell you to do something that is really expensive. I have an old shower in my bathroom that was leaking and I had asked them to fix it and they could not find a way to fix it. They told me that they would have to replace it and I couldn't get it replaced because they don't make them anymore. They told me that they would have to tear the wall down to put in a new shower unit and I asked them whether they would put the tile back up and they said no. I told them not to do anything and that I would just turn the water off from that shower. An independent plumber told me that he would just put a washer in to stop it from leaking, and if that did not work, then he would do the work from the back without needing to take the wall down.
Description of Work: I have used Johnson A Plumbing & Heating of Gloversville for plumbing and heating. They did some work on my heating the last time.
