 + -1 moreI had a somewhat complicated plumbing issue. I hired another plumber who worked on the problem twice but the problem was only getting worse. I decided to go for a second opinion & called A. Johnson Plumbing. That turned out to be a good decision. The owner Anthony came & advised me that the first plumber misdiagnosed the problem & that he was going to do something completely different. Anthony came back another day with one of his employees and, after working on the issue for about two hours, problem solved! Anthony figured it out & did a great job. Although I had to wait two weeks, he did such an excellent job I think he deserves five stars. Anthony knows his business.

 + -1 moreThe experience was very poor. They installed on the 23rd, and the next dsay, air was escaping through the coil, so I had to call them back. Over labor day weekend, the condensation was going all over the floor and flooded my basement. He came and said that I need a condensation pump, which they told me I didn't need when I first talked to the saleman about the install. They never called me back, so I had to call him back. He started screaming into the phone: "Who is this and why are you calling me?!" I said I was following up and needed to know what the plan was to get this fixed. He hung up on me. I called back and asked to speak to Anthony, the owner's son. He was just as rude to me and was not at all concerned about making this right. He said he was aware that I was waiting and would get back to me in 20 minutes. He did not call back. I do not trust them to come back into my home and am going to hire someone else.

 + -1 moreIt was okay I guess, there was some hiccups along the way but I guess we got it all squared away. What you advertised and what they do was not entirely exactly the same thing, at the end of the day I purchased a tune up of a furnace and they really just come to clean it so there were part of the tune up was to diagnosis if there is any issue well that's not really included in tune up. When the guy left the furnace didn't work at all so there really was an issue with it, it had worked prior, at the end I ended up with a new furnace but there were bumps a long the road discount promised and all kinds of crazy stuff.

 + 0 moreWe recently purchased a new home and one of the selling features was the fact that the first level was handicapped accessible. However, the shower on the first floor would not deliver hot water and we were unable to shower in our home. They came out to assess the project and said that the fixture was from 1960 and either they would need to find that model or we would have to break into the tile/drywall to install a new fixture. Amazingly their parts person was able to find one (and, let me tell you, this was a Model 0 fixture so it's really an oldie) and expedite the shipping for us. The owner and a contractor both showed up to install the piece and did so swiftly and professionally. They even vacuumed the area afterwards to ensure there would be no tile pieces for us to step on. I trust their expertise and will be using them in the future without hesitation for our plumbing needs.

 + -1 moreI generally like the performance of products installed. The instillation of all products were done in a manner which left them functional. My big problem with this company is I do not have confidence that the work the installers do when it comes to details. An example was the instillation of piping for the venting system. It took the intervention of the company owner on two separate occasions to get the system routed in satisfactory manner. After the install was complete, I found that the intake and discharge points for the system were not insulated and sealed from the outdoors as well as they should have been.
Description of Work: They provided and installed a Rheem gas power-vented water heater, a Carrier high efficiency gas furnace and a Carrier air venting system. All work was the result of needs identified in an energy audit following sealing and insulation work preformed on the house by another contractor independent of A. Johnson.

 + 1 moreI accepted the audit. They showed up when they were supposed to. They started in August and completed the work in January. They never resolved the problems of the air coming through skylight and kitchen window. My biggest problem was the freezing pipes. They put some insulation in the crawl space. I am hopeful that they solved the problem with the freezing pipes. They were very nice people. It was a lengthy process. I would do an audit around November instead of the summer if I had to do it again. They aren't able to do window insulation. The 4th time that they came out, the owner came and he was very concerned that the job get done.
Description of Work: They did an energy audit. I had 3 problems that wanted them to do. Air was going through the skylight and a kitchen window. I also had freezing pipes. They put in an exhaust fan in the bathroom.

 + 0 moreThe repairmen were prompt and courteous. They diagnosed the problem and made repair in a timely fashion. The next day we noticed a problem, called the office and a repairman came out the same day to fix it. They apologized for any inconvenience. The office staff are friendly and responsive. I was given a two hour window of the repairman's arrival and called when they were on the way. They have electronic invoices and can accept payment electronically if I chose.

I called their emergency service on Sat (5/25/13) to schedule an appointment (to fix a toilet) as soon as possible (it was memorial day weekend), and they told me they would call me on Tuesday morning before 8am to schedule an appointment for Tuesday. They set the appointment for today (Tuesday 5/28/13) between the hours of 2-4. At 1:30 they called me and told me that they had accepted other appointments in the meantime and were going to move our appointment to Friday (5/31/13). They cited that they have some kind of 'preferred customer' program where people pay an annual fee to be able to bump other people's appointments in favor of their program members. This company left us having to scramble in the late afternoon to find another plumbing company, which - fortunately - we did. Will never use A Johnson Plumbing again. Their dealings with me were unprofessional and unethical. It is one thing to cancel an appointment, but to then push an emergency appointment forward by three days is a surefire way to lose customers.

 + 1 moreAfter the work was done, they came back and did another energy audit and inspected the work that was done. There was a small area that needed to be sealed up, so someone came the next day to take care of it. My house is a lot more efficient now. I am a single woman and it is hard to find companies that do good work for a reasonable price. I will have them back again if I need any plumbing or heating work done. If you are interested in a family run company, these guys are a great choice. It's nice to be able to "keep it local".
Description of Work: They performed a home energy audit, followed by a new furnace, AC unit, and air sealing& insulation of my attic. From start to finish, it was a success. Anthony did all the paper work for NYSERTA funding and helped me decide which products would meet my goals of a greener home, as well as one that lowers my cost. All of the workers were friendly and efficient. The house was spotless when they left and they explained what was being done as they went. I love the quietness of my new system and the tech savvy-ness of the thermostat. I can access it through the Internet.

 + -1 moreWe are new homeowners in the area and will continue to seek any contractors who can offer us good reliable mechanics at a fair price. I was happy with the performance of the company but felt a little mislead by the cost of the service provided as it was initially referred to us at.
Description of Work: Had company do an energy audit of a home that we recently purchased. A young man came out and did the survey. After correcting some of his observations we received a sales pitch to due numerous jobs to save future energy dollars spent on heating the home. Some were obvious and we did them ourselves. Others pitched were expensive with small return on investment which we did not do. In particular we were told that our oil furnace should be cleaned and Johnson Plumbing & heating would do the job for $89.00. Fine, we agreed to have them do it as the furnace did need inspected and cleaned as soot was very evident in the flue pipe. When the mechanic left the charge was $216.00. Knowing a good mechanic when I see one I was pleased with the work the man did. When I asked him about the $89.00 quote he seemed puzzeled why I was quoted that number without knowing what may need to be done on the furnace. Also, when the young man left I found A.Johnson Heating & Plumbing service stickers on the well pump. I bet the thinking here is if something should go wrong with the well I would be inclined to call them. Hmm.. I think I will ask around the neighborhood first before placing that call in the future.
