Matchless Stove & Chimney

Went to Matchless Stove and Chimney in Glenmont on Friday 10/7/11 to purchase a wood stove. We agreed on a price of $2,500 however the stove I wanted to purchase was a floor model in their Clifton Park store. Saturday morning I show up at the Clifton Park store to purchase the wood stove with my 13 year old son. When I asked if they would help me put the wood stove on the truck, the said "No, we are not insured to help you".They are insured to install the wood stove in my house and climb up on my roof but are not insured to load a stove on my truck? What gives Matchless Stove and Chimney?Your competition is insured to load wood stoves on their Customers trucks!

Chimney cleaning is a dirty process and they are super clean and neat. As soon as they finished their inspection they were very clear in explaining everything. They photographed and explained what they did. They gave us good options on what could happen. They kept us informed and we felt as though we were involved in decision-making.

We sat down with Tom at the Clifton Park showroom to discuss the project. He was knowledgeable and professional. He came to our home to do a survey when he was scheduled to. A week later, the techinicians arrived to install the logs. They were personable, efficient and neat. I was very pleased with their work.

I paid $250 on that work. They did an excellent job. They came in and put mats on the floor, so they did not bring any dirt into the house. They were professional, knew what needed to be done and they did it.

They were professional, but their bit was much too high for me. I went with a different provider.

They are very reliable and easy to work with.

The company was busy enough that scheduling this work took several weeks. On the scheduled day, two workers showed up promptly at the start of an 11-1 work window. They swept and vacuumed a huge amount of soot from the chimney (that had apparently been collecting for quite some time under the previous house occupants). In addition, they inspected the masonry of the chimney above the roof line where the bricks are showing signs of decay. After they finished sweeping and cleaning up, they provided me with a quote on what rebuilding the chimney from the roof line would cost (since it will need to be done in the next year or two). Overall, they did what looks like a very nice job with the chimney sweeping, providing the quote for rebuilding the chimney was helpful (I will likely call them next year for the job), and they were very professional.

Initially spoke with sales person at the Clifton Park store. We provide him with specific information about the job requested, he said he would be the one doing the measuring. Two different guys showed up to take the measurement, they could have had more appropriate ladders for the job and they were late. The time was scheduled to put the new chase cap on, again it was two new guys and they were late. They did the install and they realized that the cap was too large. They said they would order a new one and install it when it came in, no additional charge. They did return in a couple of weeks with a much better fitting cap. Their pride in their work over rides the other issues.

Fantastic. They were pleasant and courteous, put down drop cloths everywhere they worked, and left the fireplace, as well as their work area, as neat as a pin. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Two young men arrived, and proceeded to clean the chimney, advising that some things be moved or covered so as not to be damaged by soot etc. After that job was completed, I said that I also needed a new chimney cap, which was news to them, but they had the material required and did the work. The existing metal extension pipe was corroded (which I knew) and had to be shortened. They offered to do a survey, to which I agreed, to be kept at their company and used when replacing the chimney lining with something more permanent in a year or so when the pipe deteriorated. The price of the survey would be taken out of the future work as long as they did it (the cap should last a good deal longer than the old pipe). I got a phone call a few days later from the main office, wanting to schedule the new lining, that would cost about $1400(GASP!). I said the workmen had told me the present job should last at least year, so I intended to wait (and compare prices) before arranging that.

The experience from start to finish was great! The sales person, Pete, from the new showroom in Clifton Park, was very knowledgeable and friendly. Jerad, the head installer, was a pleasure, too. The two workers were very conscientious and polite. They arrived as promised each day. The work was supposed to take four days and was done in three. They layed drop cloths from the entry way right through the house to the area where the work was done. They moved some furniture out of their way and returned to exact area when done. They had to remove old insert through the outside of the house, so the siding had to be removed and put back on, which was done great. At the end of each day everything was picked up and cleaned. The stone work around the fireplace and mantle is absolutely beautiful! Better than I imagined! The cost of the job was after a 10% discount for the grand opening of their new store!

Dennis and Jason came well within the window of time arranged, very courteous and professional, did some additional inspection at my request without an increase in quoted price, and everything left clean.

IT WAS FINE, I THOUGHT THEY WERE VERY HIGH PRICED. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS GOOD. I DIDN'T HAVE THEM CLEAN OUT THE CHIMNEY THIS TIME BUT THEY DO ALL THAT TYPE OF WORK.

I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO COME IN. THEY ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS. THE PEOPLE IN THE OFFICE AND THE WORKERS WHO COME IN TO DO THE JOB ARE VERY RECEPTIVE TO MY NEEDS.

THERE IS ALWAYS ROOM FOR IMPROVEMENT. I THOUGHT WERE GOOD BUT THE NEXT GUY MAY BE BETTER. I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO A FRIEND AND WOULD DEFINITELY USE THEM AGAIN.

THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL COMING IN. THEY LAID BLANKETS DOWN SO IT DIDN'T RUIN THE CARPET, AND EVERYTHING THEY BROUGHT IN, THEY TOOK OUT. THE FIREPLACE AND THE GLASS WAS CLEANER THAN IT HAD EVER BEEN. THEY WERE VERY, VERY PROFESSIONAL.

IT'S BEEN VERY FAVORABLE, THEY DO WHAT THEY SAY THEY ARE GOING TO DO. I DON'T KNOW ABOUT PRICE BECAUSE THEY ARE THE ONLY ONES AROUND WHO DOES THIS TYPE OF WORK WITH GAS STOVES. OVERALL IT WAS FAVORABLE AND I WILL CALL THEM AGAIN.

THEY DO GOOD WORK. I BELIEVE EVERYTHING THEY DO IS GUARANTEED. THEY ARE VERY PUNCTUAL. THEY ARE NEAT AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. I THINK THEIR PRICE IS MARGINALLY HIGH BUT I LIKE TO SUPPORT LOCAL COMPANIES.

THEY WERE A PLEASURE TO DO BUSINESS WITH AS WELL. WE BOUGHT IT FROM THEM AND THEY HAVE BEEN SERVICING IT. I HAVEN'T DEALT WITH ANYONE ELSE WITH IT BUT IT HAS COMPETITIVE PRICES.

I BELIEVE WE BOUGHT THE WOOD STOVE FROM THEM AND WE'VE HAD THEM CLEAN IT SINCE WE'VE HAD IT WHICH HAS BEEN ABOUT TEN YEARS. THE MAN THAT WAS HERE WAS REALLY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND GAVE ME INFORMATION ABOUT HOW THE SEALING CAME UNDONE, AND HOW TO BURN THE WOOD. THEY WERE REALLY, REALLY THOROUGH, MY FIREPLACE IS REALLY, REALLY CLEAN.

THEY DID A GOOD JOB. THEY WERE REALLY CLEAN AND EFFICIENT. THE PRICE WAS REASONABLE. THE QUALITY OF WORK WAS VERY GOOD, BECAUSE WE ARE SATISFIED WITH IT. THEY WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL. THEY WERE EXCELLENT. THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT AND DOING.

IT HAS BEEN EXCELLENT. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN TREATED WITH GREAT RESPECT AND COURTESY. WE HAVE DEALT WITH THEM SINCE WE MOVED HERE IN 2000 AND HAVE HAD THEM BACK EVERY YEAR. THEY CAME OUT AND IMMEDIATELY MADE SURE THAT THE SOOT WOULDN'T GET ON ANYTHING IN THE HOUSE. THEY USED THEIR OWN FABRIC COVERS. THEY CLEANED ALL THE PIPES AND THE CHIMNEY VERY QUICKLY AND EFFICIENTLY. THEY CLEANED UP AFTER THEMSELVES AND DID A COMPLETE EXAMINATION OF EACH CHIMNEY.

THEY WERE ALRIGHT. THEY CAME IN AND DID THEIR THING AND LEFT. I THINK IT WAS A LITTLE EXPENSIVE FOR THE AMOUNT OF TIME THAT THEY WERE HERE. THEY WERE ONLY HERE ABOUT FIFTEEN MINUTES. I WOULD HAVE LIKED FOR THEM TO KIND OF LOOK AROUND AND MAKE SURE THAT EVERYTHING WAS OKAY.

THEY SEND ME A CARD TO REMIND ME WHEN IT'S TIME TO GET THE WORK DONE, SO THEY'RE EFFICIENT. THEY MAKE APPOINTMENTS AND COME ON TIME. THEY ARE FRIENDLY AND PROFESSIONAL. THEY DON'T MESS UP MY HOUSE WHEN THEY'RE SWEEPING OUT THE CHIMNEY.

THEY ARE DEPENDABLE AND WE HAVE USED THEM FOR A VERY LONG TIME. THE WORKERS ARE VERY PROFESSIONAL. IN FACT, THE LAST ONE WAS JUST EXCELLENT. HE WENT THE EXTRA MILE AND DID A LOT OF WORK.
