I found this company here on Angie's list, and in fact signed up with Angie's List to find an alarm company because I was so frustrated with my previous alarm company (Intelli-tec) and several other local companies I spoke to. The new systems are exactly what we wanted. The owner of True Value, Mitchell Meyer, spent a lot of time with me on the telephone during my initial call explaining all of the different options for security and video systems. He came to our home a few days later, and brought brochures and diagrams to help further explain all of the options. He was patient and enormously helpful. He returned the following week with his technical assistant, and installed both the alarm and video systems in one painless day. He also installed new smoke and carbon dioxide detectors. The work was done neatly and professionally. No mess, no clean-up (for me). I'm not the best with technology, and a week or two later, our alarm pad indicated an issue with one of our doors, which hadn't been closed properly. I wasn't quite sure how to reset the pad, and just when I was planning to call Mitchell and ask him, he emailed me that he'd gotten a notification from the central monitoring station about the door. He then explained how to reset the pad. You can't get better service than this. We're thrilled with the new system. The installation was painless, and it actually cost a little less than I expected. We have a large house on a big piece of property, and I'm used to being over-charged for just about everything. This was one of the nicest experiences we've ever had. I'd like to endorse both this company, and Angie's List, because between them we found exactly what we were looking for, after months of talking to friends and neighbors about which alarm companies they use and being disappointed when I actually talked to those companies. I highly recommend True Value Security Systems.

Very happy with my experience with True Value Security. Mitch always shows up on time and goes the extra mile to make sure that his customers are 100% satisfied. His estimate was fair and beat another highly rated local alarm company. He showed up on time and installed the system and then sent a tech out to tweak it later at no cost when we decided we wanted to move the placement of one of the wall consoles. It was our first time having an alarm system and Mitch really took the time to teach us how to use it, to show us different options so we would get the most out of it, but with no pressure to "up sell" us. Even after the installation Mitch has been available virtually 24/7 any time I have questions or issues with the system (e.g. he instantly walked me through how to replace the battery on a door sensor that had failed and how to put back a window sensor that a construction worker had accidentally knocked loose). The only issue I had (and it is minor) is that Mitch accidentally cracked a window pane putting in one window sensor, but immediately offered to pay to replace the window. I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet, but I know he will stand behind his offer when the time comes. I wholeheartedly recommed True Value Security Systems to anyone looking to upgrade or get a new alarm system.

From start to finish, he was professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He came with an assistant to do the installation and they carefully explored various ways of running the wires before choosing the most unobtrusive and least damaging to existing walls. Excellent cleanup. Highly recommended.

Mitch called about 30 minutes before he arrived. He was right on time. He began by looking around our house to see what we might need and what we were looking for. He really took his time and was very honest about what he offered in comparison to the bigger companies. He made a great statement for his company. He then showed us a sample of the kind of system we could have. He actually pulled out an alarm, plugged it up and gave us a demonstration. When it was over he gave us all the options for the least expensive to the "Rolls Royce" of options. The whole time lasted about 45 minutes to an hour. He was thourough and professional.

He was prompt ,set equipment up in an orderly manner, spent alot of time in installing each contact in the best possible way on my new windows and doors. After installing and programming he thouroughly tested each zone to make sure the system was working efficiently. He patiently tried to satisfy my specifications. He then explained the system in detail. October 31, 2013 UPDATE: He came promptly and checked the entire system over. I was very pleased with the whole thing. He takes care of his customers. He replaced what he thought needed to be replaced.

Great. Mitchell was prompt and responsive throughout the whole process and his technician was friendly and very diligent.

You know right from the first time you talk to Mitch that he's a down to earth regular guy. He really knows his stuff and it was refreshing to deal with someone I believe was totally honest and up front. He doesn't just tell you whatever you want to hear to get you to sign up, he tells you the way it is with no BS. He wasn't trying to sell me stuff I don't need or want, but his quotes for things we asked about that we may want to add in the future were more than reasonable. He was really easy to deal with and came and did the switch over himself. The very day I signed the contract with him for maintenance, he fixed a minor problem with one of the contacts under the new (not even 10 minute old) maintenance contract. Then today, two days later, I had a fault with a smoke alarm. I was hesitant to call him after like 2 days, but I had no choice because I couldn't figure it out and he couldn't have been more professional and pleasant about it. I'm completely confident that my wife and I made the right choice going with this company. I highly recommend Mitch and True Value Security Systems.

We are very pleased with the customer service provided by Mitch of True Value Security. He gave us personalized attention during both the estimate and installation process and offered us various options to suit our needs. Additionally, when we had an issue with a battery in our alarm system, Mitch came over personally to fix the problem free of charge. He even came over in the evening so that it would be most convenient with our work schedules. Mitch is a true professional and takes his work seriously.

I had two home security camera systems installed in the past three years by so called professionals. Received sloppy job and no service; basically once I paid, they were gone. Then I found True Value on Angie's list. I called Mitch, he came over promptly, evaluated the existing system and was willing to correct all the problems. So unlike other companies who just want to sell you another brand new system. r On the day of the project Mitch and his two men Victor and Sean came right on time. They were knowledgeable, neat and professional. They re-wired and corrected 7 cameras and installed 2 new ones. They reused some of the existing cameras, so I saved some money. As or the wiring in the electrical closet, I should have taken before and after pictures - it is so neat now. And they even closed the holes in the bricks from the previous installations. Important note - Mitch supervised the entire project, he was physically there the entire time of the installation. True Value gets top rating from me and I would highly recommend them. You get what you pay for. My only regret is that I didn't contact Mitch three years ago.

Mitchell, the owner of True Value is an earnest salesman, not pushy, but he definitely covers all the bases. For that reason I found him to be honest and trustworthy, two paramount credentials for someone securing your home. He initially came to our house over a month ago to speak to us about what we wanted, what was available, and what would work best for our home and our lifestyles. We tentatively decided on a "Total Connect" package which included door and window sensors, central monitoring, and a new state of the art control panel which can be controlled from an iPhone app. In addition he agreed to include free of charge, two key chain units similar to those for an automobile. Six weeks later when I called Mitchell to tell him we were ready, without missing a beat he remembered exactly what we wanted, the price we had agreed upon and the extras he threw in to sweeten the deal. We agreed upon a date and time for the installation, Mitchell showed up on time, we did a walk through of the areas and he went right to work. As issued arose, such as placement problems for the motion sensor or the wireless sensors, he spoke professionally about what wouldn't work and what fixes were best. After installing all of the equipment he gave me a very thorough overview of the features and functions of the system. The new control panel is like an ipad, full color, very intuitive, and it even gives you weather and traffic updates! The panel in fact is so high-tech, that our system only uses a portion of its capabilities, but we wanted something that could perhaps be expanded on in the future and this panel will accommodate that. The key chain locks have been a great bonus and makes using the system even easier. It's clear that True Value is in the business of building relationships, the installation is at great rate and the caveat is that it's on a five year monitoring contract. We'll still be living there and wills till want our house secure so that was not an issue for us at all. You can do shorter monitoring contracts I believe but that changes the cost of installation. After all was said and done we completed the paper work and within two days I had gotten an email confirmation that our Total Connect account had been set up. So far we have had no problems with the system or equipment and rest well knowing our investment is protected by True Value Security. The $525 spent included equipment, installation, and three months of monitoring.

I turned to True Value Security Systems after having a bad experience with ADT. Right from the start, I was very impressed with the way Mitchell (the owner of the company) handled his business. He earned my trust and was very helpful, honest and accommodating to my needs. He answered my calls at any time of day and on weekends. He provided excellent security advice. And he followed up afterwards to ensure that we were happy and the system was working correctly. His equipment and his service were far superior to ADT, and at a better price to boot. I highly recommend True Value Security Systems to any homeowner.

Mike came and gave me a very competitive estimate, and came back when the installer was here to make sure there were no issues. When there was a minor issue a few weeks later I was able to get him on the phone right way to help resolve it. I am saving significantly over my old company, and maintenance is included, so I'm pretty happy. (My old company was *very* expensive for maintenance and upgrades.)

Do to the fact that I am an absentee landlord the whole transaction was handled by the securitycompany. They told me what I needed and installed equipment without any real effort on my part. The tenants seem to be happy also.

Mr. Meyer was the first person i recieved an estimate from for a security camera system. He was very thorough and spent a lot of time taking notes and figuring out the best placement for the cameras. I recieved three other estimates from other companies. The other companies were a few hundred less but it didn't seem like they cared very much about doing the right job. You can have good cameras but if they aren't placed right there is no point. Also, i had a unique situation being that i have commerical dryers- he installed the cameras so the dryer heat would not effect them. I was unsure about the equipment but Mr. Meyer took the time to show me an example and also emailed me twice about the different systems. Thd installation was clean and professional and i am very satisfied. Mr. Meyer was very responsive when i called him for assistance months after the job. You get what you pay for and if you're unsure about going with true value security- save yourself a headache in the future and go with them.

I liked the personality of the owner. He was aggressive but innovative. He was able to have an answer for everything. Overall, he was a good salesman as well as tried to utilize what you actcally needed and not sell you anything unnecessarily. He was also attentive to safety details.

We decided to hire “True Value Security Systems" after doing extensive research on Angie’s List, for a security system installation on one of our properties we manage in Jackson Heights, Queens. All of our communication was directly with the owner of the company. We received an estimate within a couple of days. We were very pleased with the price and we were provided with a detailed explanation and a picture of every step the company did. Impressed with the owner’s punctuality and quick e-mail responses. Definitely will use them again in the future.

Just what I was hoping for. Smooth.
