B & P Chimney Cleaning & Repair

I asked them to come by to see my new home and give me an idea of the issues I might be facing with the chimneys. They said all I needed was a cleaning and a new cap. I was prepared for much worse news so this made me very happy. The best part was they were able to do the work right away. The work was quick, they did a great job of keeping the house clean, both workers were very friendly and professional.

i had a free cleaning because of some past work the company had done for me. The technicians were prompt and courteous. They finished quickly and also gave me an estimate for some masonry work.

I was very satisfied with the service and would use this company again .

The workers came at 9 am sharp and immediately started to work. They moved some items from the space they needed in the garage and put everything back the way they found it. The scafolding was built to access the chimney and that was done efficiently with no inconvenience for me or my neighbors fearing the job may have taken too long. They left everything prepared so that they can finish the next day. I must say all went smoothly. I would definitely highly recommend!

I got this company off of Angie's list and I really trusted the reviews were accurate - I'm glad I did! These guys came in and really got down. I am so grateful for their professionalism and their hard work. My fireplace never looked so clean! I'll be calling B&P in the furture..

I was happy with the result. B & P used a brick that matched the brick on the existing chimney. The new chimney looks much better than before. The chimney cap is cemented in so it will not blow off like the old one. B & P remember my request not to tar the flashing so that my roofers who came in a few days later did not have to deal with fresh tar.

I asked B & P chimney to clean my chimney and furnace they came and told me that my chimney was is such bad shape there was plants growing out of it. It was totally blocked. I just purchased the home. The owner/boss was so worried that my chimney will fall because hurricane Sandy was coming my way. He told me he could fix my chimney the next day. They came early in the morning and got to work. Within hours my chimney was done and they cleaned up and I braced for the coming storm. I am please to say they did excellent work because my chimney was still there after the storm. Only thing that was wrong was one of the metal caps had shifted. They quickly came out and fixed it with no problem. This was a great company to work with the owner/boss is really a honest and nice guy. I would recommend them to anyone that needs their chimney cleaned/repaired.

The two B&P representatives were totally prepared for the visit. One inspected the boiler vents in the basement while the other accessed the roof through the attic to inspect the brick chimney. They had the necessary parts and the work was accomplished quickly.

Our chimney was struck by lightening and the top of the chimney actually fell into my yard. We had some difficulty obtaining an estimate. Two companies made appointments and did not show up. A third came and were very thorough and professional with their presentation, but did not get back to us with the estimate in a timely fashion. We finally called B&P. They came when they promised. They had a service call to confirm the appt. in advance. They gave us a detailed explanation of what would be done and also were able to give the estimate on the spot. This was on a Friday morning and they were able to do the job the following Monday. They arrived on time, completed the job in the time they had told us, did a thorough clean up of our property. The price that they charged seemed fair to us. We were satisfied with the service they provided and would not hesitate to recommend them to others. We would use them again and will use them for their chimney cleaning service.

My overall experience with them was great. They did a great job. They were sensational. They did a really difficult job. They did it much quicker than they said they would be able to do. They left everything completely clean. Their price was the best price.

They were very professional, prompt and thorough. They didn't try to sell us on any unneeded work, but explained everything we did need. And all the work was fone in 1/2 a day.

Icontacted B&P Chimney for an estimate to get my chimney relined with stainless steel liner, expecting to get an estimate of $1500. plus to get the job done. Paul Lonergan arrived at the schedualed time, his office even called to let me know that they were on the way. Paul who I assume is the co owner of the company first asked to see me furnace which he inspected and told me that it was an old oil furnace which was converted to gas. He checked the box for signs of carbon and gave it a clean bill of health. He then went to the roof and inspected the bricks and the chimney from top to bottom. he told me that the chimney has an 8 inch ceramic liner and that it was clear from top to bottom and that I did not need a liner or even a cleaning. The only thing he recommended was that I had the wrong cap on the chimney. I already knew this since I bought it from the old Pergament store, and it was all they had.at the time. This man is HONEST, HONEST HONEST. He came from Long Island to Brooklyn gave me a full inspection and was willing to leave with just a hand shake. Needless to say I had him install the new cap which is screened and stainless steel and will now prevent birds, balls etc. fron getting into chimney. We were in the process of having a new boiler installed by A Good Plumber, who I highly recommend, when they discovered an issue with our chimney. Our boiler could not be turned on until our chimney was repaired, which meant no heat until the problem was fixed. One of the reasons we chose B&P Chimney Cleaning was they actually called us back, they were licensed and insure, and did not seem shady. They came out and gave us an accurate quote. It was lower than one company and higher than another. They were prompt and completed the job on time. I liked that they were careful to contain the dust to a minimum in the rooms where they had to open up walls and cleaned up nicely once they were done. There was an issue with getting the liner down the chute because there was a curvature in our wall that required the bricks to be chiseled away to attach the liner to the bottom where the boiler is. Overall, I had a good experience with them. I would recommend them again. My Advice - Make sure to call several chimney companies to get a good idea of what to expect. I walked away feeling like most of them were pretty shady. Unless you go on the roof with them to look down the chimney chute you don't really know what is wrong. I suppose you can say that about many types of business if you are not somewhat knowledgeable, i.e car mechanics, electricians, etc. However, when one chimney technician that came to look at our chimney, (not B&P Chimney Repair), told me he used to work for a company that had thrown a dead bird down the chimney chute of a potential customer and told them that was the issue for their chimney blockage, I can't help to think there may be some credibility issues. True story or not, it made me feel pretty uncomfortable about the industry as a whole. Caveat Emptor - Buyer beware.

We had B&P come to estimate the job in August 2011 and called to hire them in mid-September. The job date was scheduled for September 21 with an expected finish date of September 24. The workers showed up on the scheduled Wednesday and worked all day Wednesday and Thursday. Although Friday was very rainy they stayed all day and worked as much as they could. At my mother's request, they didn't work on Saturday but came back on Monday and again worked all day and finished the job. Each day before they left they swept the sidewalk outside. My mother's only complaint was that when it was necessary for them to drill into the chimney inside the house, in her enclosed porch area, they didn't cover anything with drop cloths and everything got very dusty. They did clean the floor and the sidewalks outside and removed all of the debris when they were finished.

Great! Called about 1/2 hour before arrival and showed up within the window given. Ron examined the flue, making sure it was clear of obstructions, then swept/vacuumed out the flue. Put down dropcloths and cleaned up inside. He was very nice and explained that the condition of our flue was OK.

Prompt, polite, helpful and saved me a lot of money.

Bob Greene was flexible and professionsl. I couldn't be home so he did an estimate while i was at work and left it in my mailbox which was very convenient for me. The work looks good and the price seemed fair-- it was lower than an estimate from a diffent chimney company. Overall, a good experience.

We did not have a chimney cap and had water in our basement. I did a little research for a company to use because I have heard about so many rip-offs regarding chimney cleaners. I finally decided on this company. I called the company and I was able to secure an appointment for just a few days after the call. . Bob, the owner came here and spoke with my husband and told him that we needed the chimney cleaned out and installed a cap. He said that Tropical Irene may have caused the water in the basement whether we had a cap or not because of the amount of rain. He didn't say anything outrageous like I have read other chimney company reps have said such as "Your chimney is very, very dirty and needs this and that and mucho amount of money's worth of work" WHICH WE APPRECIATED! He seemed upfront and his price seemed in line with what it should be. We were happy with the service all around and would use the company again.

The initial job in November 2009 went very well but on the weekend of March 13-14 the chimney was leaking and the bricks started to crumble at the base of my chimney inside the attic. Water was running down the chimney walls through the plaster in the second floor bedroom. B&P came and re-tarred the flashing on March 20, 2010 and then on March 31, 2010 it had rained a lot and they came back on April 6, 2010 and put a lot more tar on the flashing. I thought the problem was solved due to no water in the attic but the following March 11, 2011 it rains very hard again and the same thing happened, water was streaming down the chimney wall and the bricks are again wet and crumbling at the base of the chimney inside the attic. The company responded by sending Paul Lonergan and he gave me a new stainless steel cap in April 2011 and also talked about doing a re-flashing of the chimney with aluminum over the old flashing and said that if this doesn't work that he would re-build the chimney but this time from the attic floor up. On May 11, 2011 he actually came and performed the re-flashing. On August 27, 2011 the same thing happened all over again with the leaking. Since this last occurance in August, Paul said he would definitely re-build the chimney from the attic floor up for free and sent me a letter to this effect and verbally told me it was up to me to find a roofer who did copper flashing because he didn't know what else to do, he couldn't solve the leaking problem. B&P has been very responsive but ultimately has not solved the problem. The chimney never leaked before it was re-built and it has since leaked every time it steadily rains.

They were very professional from beginning to end. The office called before each appt and was very courteous every time I spoke with someone. The crew was punctual and knowledgeable. They worked very efficiently and neatly taking care to clean whatever debris was left inside and outside the house. I am very satisfied with the work. We will see if it lasts as long as they guaranteed.

They came out to do an estimate on the job. The figure I was quoted seemed to be in line with what I was expecting. I paid an initial downpayment and they came back several days later to finish the job. I haven't had any problems since then and as far as I can tell, they did great work. I'd use them again.

Arrived on time. Started work right away but DID NOT move the persian rug (or prevent it from getting soiled) from adjacent to the fireplace. Had to stop them and flip rug over/cover with a plastic tarp. Then, went to basement and cleaned the gas flue. I watched the whole operation and the amount of soot from both cleaning could have been sweeped within one child's shovel. However, the main technician tells me that the fireplace is completely damaged and cracked and would need a stainless steel sheath (about $2500.00) because if I left it that way, carbon monoxide would go backwards and seep into the house and kill everyone. How he could tell by a flashlight aimed up from below is beyond me. He then went to inspect the cap and told me the masonry was cracked and needed replacement (350.00). I was already very skeptical about the whole carbon monoxide scare tactic because in all my limited science education, I did not know of any gas that would flow backwards and seep into walls rather than up and into the path of least resistance (an opened airway). When I declined his services, he told me that I would have to sign all this paperwork stating that they were not responsible for any dangers; I actually had no problem with that tactic because frankly, he wasn't responsible for anything 1 hour before he showed up. So I signed away. I had another chimney sweep come by the following week and he basically told me everything was fine. The gas chimney barely needs annual cleaning as it usually burns pretty cleanly.
