He was very good. He's working with his son, it's a small business but good. They're great. They made tiles, very uneven floors, things like that, they were very experienced and have opinions. They responded very quickly to phone calls which is great, very friendly, honest and I though they are trying to give me the good value. They are very nice family.

We chose "Hardwood Floors by Fabian" for installing the hardwood floors in the four bedrooms, closets and hallway of our house (apprx 900 sqft); As some of the reviews say, this is a family owned business. A year back, they had installed hardwood floors in our living room and done a wonderful job. Based on the quality of their previous work, we were confident that they were the best people to do the job again. From our prior interactions, we felt Fabian, his son Jonathan and their family were genuinely good people and completely trustable.The quotes they provided prior to the start of the job was competitive. For this job, their group of three came on the scheduled day. The job they performed involved removing the carpets, moldings, installing all the floors and putting back the moldings. As a courtesy, they also helped with moving the heavy furnitures. They would start their job at 8am in the morning and continue till 5pm; In three days time, they completed the job as promised and to our satisfaction For any job related to hardwood installation, we highly recommend Fabian and family. Personally, we have chosen them twice and would again do so if needed.

Communication with Fabian was excellent. This is a family business and they were very professional. They did exactly what they promised. They finished the work on time and left the house very clean. We are very pleased with their work, especially since we received a lot of compliments on the hardwood floors.

This is the third house we've restored in 10 years. It is a turn of the century Victorian in a historic area with very intricately laid oak floors. The floors had never been finished so we wanted somebody who could appreciate the beauty of 100-year-old wood but still put a durable, modern finish on them. After talking to Fabian we felt he was the right fit for the job. We were beyond impressed with both the level of his finish work and how easy it was to communicate to him what we wanted. We had to match the finish of the floors to the oak baseboard trim, and Fabian's patience as he experimented with the colors was amazing. The boards are laid in an intricate pattern in our parlors and he was able to sand them carefully with respect for the original layout. He refinished the entire house (about 3000 sq ft) in the estimated time and it looks beautiful. Fabian runs a family business, and everybody that works with him is efficient, knowledgable and ultimately cares about the finished product. We have hired flooring contractors in the past -- some that claimed to be experts in historic homes -- and have never been nearly as happy as we were with Fabian. This isn't our first rodeo, so we know the difference between the guys who smile at you while they do hack work and a real professional. Fabian is a professional. We will be using him soon as we refinish our kitchen floor that was buried under two layers of tile and linoleum. I always tell people to get three estimates before they get any work done, but be sure one of those estimates comes from Fabian. I can't recommend him enough.

Fabian came promptly to my homeafter I called for an estimate to sand and refinish my hardwood floors. This is an old house, in good condition overall, but I had not seen my hardwood floors in over 35 years as they were covered with wall-to-wall carpeting. Fabian gave me a detailed, line by line estimate of each part of the process. There was no pressure and he was totally professional. When they came to begin it was a 'family' operation and that was so welcome. When do you see that these days? It was easy to see they are trustworthy and sincere about their profession and I felt totally comfortable with them in my home. Within a few hours they had all the carpet up and out of the house.. What a surprise to see these floors again. Fabian and his son assured me they were in great condition for the age of the house and when they were finished I would love them. They were right!! They finished right on time and indeed the floors came out gorgeous. I can't believe how beautiful they are after all these years. It's important to mention that I had many concerns about how we could stay in our house during the process and other questions as we went along, but they answered all my questions. I was surprised at how little dust there was and they cleaned up so well. If you want work done by people who are professional, trustworthy and conscientious.. call on Fabian... you won't be disappointed.

This was my first attempt to use Angies list, and not the last.... This has been the best experiance I have ever had. Fabian responded quickly to my initial call. Came to give us an estimate to remove a rug and install a new hardwood flooring in our dining room. His price was VERY reasonable. We made an appointment to have the work done and he showed up ON TIME, with his wife and 2 sons. They had the rug out, the flooring installed and the first coat of stain was applied by 5pm on the first day. They all worked as a team and very proffesional. The room was only 270 square feet but their expertise and teamwork was a credt to their company. They came back the next 2 days to finish the sealing coat and final sandings. This came out so well and we were so happy with the results that we had them give us an estimate to do more work in other rooms that we were going to have rugs replaced. I will be giving his name to all that see this work. It is nice to see someone take pride in their work in todays times.

He said he would come and actually he sent his son and I had to go through the whole thing with his son again. He told me that there was a minimum cost of $500 for any repair and I said that was fine. I called him back to arrange a date. When he showed up, the estimate had gone up to $600.00 but it didn't include the underlayment. I was willing to pay that because they could come. Other people I called didn't want to come and be bothered by such a small job. They came on Thursday morning and he finally gave me the written estimate. It did not include the underlayment. Already it was more than the minimum he was charging. I told him that there was no underlayment on it and he said it was going to be extra. I asked him about the cost and he said they didn't know that they would have to find out when they opened it all up. I just got very bad feelings about it. I thanked him very much and he demanded the estimate back from me, it was in my hand, and he left. I am an older woman and I am in my 60's so I just felt like he was trying to take advantage of me. It left a very bad taste in my mouth. He wanted to sand the whole floor which was a $1800.00 job but I did not want that I just wanted them to sand that part flat. He just wasn't willing to do that. It was just not a good experience. He just did not address the things that needed to be addressed. I am trying to rent the place out but now I have lost a whole week on trying to get the work done. I just feel like he wasted my time and his.

Fabian has a family owned business. He is the one who will actually be performing the work. This was attractive to me. So many of the people you meet are just sales people and are not actually performing the job. This was the final leg of a complete home renovation. So I have used multiple contractors and installers at this point. Fabian was right on time for the estimate. He provided a detailed and thorough estimate. He said the project would take 6 days. To my complete satisfaction he finished the project in the exact time he said he would and at the price he said he would. This is a rarity in the home improvement business. He communicated very effectively. He was always available through the project to answer questions by phone, text, or email. I never had to try and track him down or wonder where he was. In fact, most of the time he was so proactive about what was going on I never had to call him. Some times he would have questions regarding wood layouts or design and he would always call and ask about our preferences. He never guessed about what we wanted. This was really appreciated. He also made it a point to make sure there was no residual damage to our walls or other structures. He was exceptional careful. The quality of his work was exceptional. He did a beautiful and perfect job on the floors. He even had the additional challenge to matching this floor to previously installed floors on our first level of the house. In fact the first level floors were done by someone else who damaged our house pretty significantly and the work was not near the quality of Fabian, so I have experience working with multiple providers. The match was perfect. I would recommend him without reservation.

lBefore the work was done, it appears that the floors had never been touched. Now, they look absolutely wonderful! They do not look like the same floors.Fabian is very knowledgeable, and he and his family are very professional. I had to leave town unexpectedly in the middle of the job and was unable to finish preparing the rooms for them. They did it all for me, which was a really pleasant surprise. I will certainly have them back to do the floor in the remaining bedroom.

I used Angie's List to find someone to sand and refinish my living room and hallway floors. These floors have never been done since they were installed from original condition in 1952. Fabian came in a few hours and checked out what wasneeded and gave a fair price for the work. He started work in a couple days after that with his whole family in toe.We met his wonderful wife and son. All very professional and polite. They did the work in a couple hrs left for the dayinformed us along the way what what taking place for the next day. Set up the time and all that he came and finished the job.Everything went very smooth and its looks better than the day my parents purchased the home. I am second generation living inthe home so I know that the floors were always covered with rugs....how beautiful that now I can enjoy the original floors they way they were meant to be.....thanks a bunch Fabian.

Well Fabian came over and gave me an estimate for a lot of different things we wanted done. I explained we didnt want to go overboard but we wanted someone to get the job done right. He saw that we wanted a lot more done around the house than just floors and said he would be able to take on that work as well. Well I had another contractor I was using for carpentry stuff but I told Fabian that if there are things that he could do to save us money over the other guy that I would be happy to have him do them and vice versa where we would use the other guy for things that maybe he could do better. So everyone was in agreement essentially. I gave both contractors access to my house and told them to come and go as they please and just try to get the work done by the beginning of May. Now I am aware of the various factors such as waiting for cabinets and the crown to come in and stuff but the fact was, that Fabian I always seemed to have to "keep tabs on". What I mean is that I would call him and say "when do you plan to be at the house?" He would then give me a time and date and half the time I would be there waiting and he wouldnt be there. There were times where he would say one thing but doo another as well. I really should have been more upfront but I needed to get this house done as my fiancee and I were dying to get out of our current situation. Now about the work, Fabian did great on the floors. If you need flooring put in, this is your man. However, I wouldn't use him for anything else really. Essentially he cost me more money in the long run as I had to have another contractor clean up his mistakes. There are things that right now I cant fix because I have to wait until we have the money to pay someone else to fix because they really werent done right. Lets go through the list: Fabian said he could do the bay windows. The plan was to place a new piece of wood down and sand and stain it the same color as the new floors he has done. I said great. We went to Home Depot and got the wood and I showed fabian the trim I wanted and he went to work. But wait, he then realizes he cant make a curved cut to go along with the bay window shape and therefore cannot do the job that way. So he says, Ill sand what is there and stain it and do a couple coats of polyurethane. Reluctantly, I said fine because like I said before, we werent trying to waste anymore money. So essentially, that wood was wasted material as it was cut already and therefore unreturnable. But there is more. So, Fabian was responsible for doing the windows as a whole. Well, I show up to find my other contractor painting the trim. I said, "why are you painting the trim?", he says that Fabian told him it was his job and he didn't know. I call Fabian and basically he assumed since the kid was doing the painting throughout the rest of the house he assumed he was painting that as well. I said no, and that he should have asked me. What is worse is that the window trim wasnt cut exact and Fabian did a quick fix to try and cover the mistake. Honestly, I didnt care but the fact was that the other contractor had to sand his little unorthodox piece of wood down so that he could finish painting the trim and it would look right. Continuing on, the bay window was sanded and polyurethaned but, Fabian left the rest of the inner part of the window untouched. The wood on the sides looked completely different and the old paint job on the interior top of the window was still there. I told him once again that when I asked and paid him to do the windows that I wanted him to take care of the windows. Once again, the other contractor had to fix this by simply painting it over. This is just the first job where I had to pay two people to do labor on one job. Next Fabian was paid to install the cabinets. Now we have an odd kitchen where the floor is a different level from one side to the next and so I know it was a challenge to level the cabinets out. The reason I gave Fabian a C+ is because one of my cabinets is significantly not level to the others. This was discovered yesterday when the granite counter came and we saw that a quarter to a half inch one cabinet was lower than the rest. So, today the other contractor is coming to raise it up so that we can finish the counter off and right the kitchen. Also, Fabian had difficulty putting in a roller drawer to our cabinet. He didnt have instructions and so he tried to do it himself. This essentially chipped wood off the inside of our pantry and the 1 drawer he did install now does function as it should. Ill have to try and fix it later. What I found interesting really was that all it would have took was to ask me to get the schematics for the drawers from Home Depot. Instead he gave it a go and did more harm than good. I put the other 3 roller drawers in and they all work as they should and I never even picked up a drill until I put those in. Next comes the biggest disappointment, the sofit. I will essentially have to pay 3-4 people by the time this thing is done right. Fabian, has a friend who does the taping and plastering and so he was required to do so after Fabian built the sofit and I am confident he did his job right and well. However, in theory, the way it was to be built was correct. The finished product though is not though. The sofit does not lay flush to the crown as it should and there are parts that look very amateurish and hang out a bit over the crown as well. For me to fix that, I will have to have that ripped out and redone by another person which just plain sucks for us. More money wasted in my eyes. The crown molding really was expensive for our cabinets and really you essentially get only so much and there is no room for waste. I was told by the cabinet designer at home depot to make sre that the center seams over the sink were done at an angle as it conceals them and makes it look like one piece. I said ok. So as Fabian was sizing things up I saw he just wanted to slap two pieces side by side to do the job. I said, "the guy at home depot said that it was best to cut the seams at an angle. He protested a bit but said that he would do it. So he did it alright but the seam is terrible. It is literally wide enough that I can see the drywall behind the wood and I have been told that I cant fix it really and that I would have to get new crown, cut it, and have it put up. Now considering that over half our crown is between those two pieces, Id say that this was about 300 dollars + of wasted material not including the labor associated with the improper install and the labor that will be associated with doing the job right. Lastly, to end on a good note, he removed half a wall of wallpaper and did that well. Really, Fabian is a nice guy and I wish him the best but the fact remains that the quality of work on anything except for hardwood floors and wallpaper is severely lacking. My other contractor took pride in the finishing points of his work and really busted his backside. Fabian just did the minimal and in my eyes just made things worse for us by doing jobs he wasnt able to fully do to begin with. My parents have heard about this whole process and really cant understand what contractor takes on jobs or tasks that in reality he cannot do. We wasted a lot more money in the end by using Fabian and unfortunately I will now end up more critical towards any angieslist contractor I look to hire in the future.

Fabian and family were wonderful, hard-working, honest, professional folks and I would be happy to recommend them. I found Fabian on Angie's list after our floor sub-contractor dropped off the planet in the middle of our kitchen remodel. The lack of reply from that original floor guy was holding up an already stressful kitchen renovation. We were in a holding pattern waiting... couldn't start some work because we needed the floor done while the room was empty. Waiting meant more days of washing dishes in the bathroom. I got tired of waiting and called Fabian. He understood our situation and squeezed us in so that we could keep moving on our project. His price was fair, his work was perfect and timely. Thanks Fabian for a great job. Even our GC has been now been bringing Fabian to look at jobs. Sincerely, Deirdre Blohm

Fabian and his team came on time and completed the job in the time frame they said they would.

From the beginning, my husband and I really respected Fabian for his professionalism and good communication skills. His estimate was right on the money for how much things would cost, and the job started right on time. I was amazed at how quickly the tile demolition went, and how well the crew cleaned up afterwards. The cork was installed in less than two days time, including meticulously hand-stained reducers and moldings that i couldn't find. (I bought the flooring myself.) Fabian and his family are wonderful, with the pride in workmanship and attention to detail that one usually only dreams about finding. We are thrilled with his work, and look forward to having him back in the near future.

Excellent job overall from start to cleanup.

Provided a written estimate the same day that Fabian was contacted. Started on the original start day. Furniture was moved out of the first group of rooms and the carpet was removed from those rooms Floors were sanded and 3 coats of polyurethane were applied (over the next two days). Furniture returned to the first set of rooms and the second (and last) set of rooms were emptied of their furniture and carpeting. Floors sanded and polyurethane (3 coats) applied over a period of two days. In a separate work effort, but following right along after the floor refinishing was the repair/replavement of the banister on the stairs.

He is extremely trustworthy and I had a good feeling about him from the start. He was helpful with suggestions, but not pushy and did whatever I wanted, even if he disagreed. Very knowledgeable.

Came on time and did an excellent job. The price was a lot cheaper than another company I received and estimate from.

They were courteous and very professional. They were not as punctual as I would have liked, but it was no big deal. They listened to what I had to say and they did what I wanted. They charged me very reasonably for the job. They left the place clean when they were finished.
