Having refinished the hardwood in the main floor of my house recently, I was very happy with the process and results. They were timely, professional, and were great to work with. The combination of the right tools, techniques, materials and experience resulted in a fantastic looking floor! Would definitely use them again and would recommend them.

Hardwood Floors by Fabian is excellent. Not only did I have them install and finish hard wood floors recently, but also 8 years ago in another room. Both times the service and finished product was exceptional. I highly recommend.

It went great. I took up the old flooring and baseboards myself and then I put up plastic over the walls because I thought there would be dust. Last time I had hardwood floors installed there was a ton of dust from the sanding. It was everywhere and the installers did not do a great job of vacuuming. When Fabian and Co. showed up to install the floor they asked "why is all this plastic here?" I explained that the previous company that had installed my other floors had left a ton of dust and I would rather just toss the dirty plastic instead of vacuuming, even though the plastic was outgassing and making me sick! Fabian said there is not going to be dust, you don't need this smelly plastic. I said "well that's what the other guys said but it wasn't true!" Fabian installed the floor then brought in a fancy, new German floor sander. When he turned it on it was amazing. It sanded beautifully, quietly and there was not dust going everywhere!. The vacuum on this sander is fantastic, sucked up the dust as he went. I got sick from the plastic fumes for no reason. Then Fabain and Jonathan finished the floor with Rubio Monocoat an all natural ONE COAT oil finish made from 100% plant oils, no VOCS and non toxic. The finish is Dark Oak color and looks great, very natural and not slippery. I have the same finish on white oak floors in my other rooms and it holds up beautifully. If you do happen to get a stain or scratch you just sand and feather the spot with 100 grit then apply a little Monocoat in the same color and it blends right in and doesn't leave any lap lines. I highly recommend Fabian. He did an excellent job. He was also familiar with Monocoat so he was not afraid to use it like some other flooring companies who only want to put toxic messy urethane down. I would hire him over anyone else and you should too. Hardwood Floors by Fabian and Rubio Monocoat, the winning combination!

After receiving 3 estimates we decided to go with Fabian based on his overall knowledge and responsiveness. They were contracted to sand, provide sampling of stains and finishing floors including repairing all holes. In addition, they were to install new saddles between all doorways and polyurethane them. After sanding an area we decided to go with just 3 coats of polyurethane based on Fabian and son Jonathon's expert experience on how it would look. Fabian and his sons showed up each day exactly on time. On the first day they prepared the areas to be sanded, sanded and applied first coat of polyurethane. The second day they plugged all holes and applied second coat. The third day they installed all saddles and applied final coat. They returned the next day to do some touch ups on holes and the job was completed. We were extremely satisfied with the job. The floors look great and we are sorry we had them covered so long. The job was done by real professionals, neat, courteous and punctual. I will recommend them whenever I get a chance.

Excellent. Fabian wove new oak planks into older planks so that there is a seamless integration of old and new floors. He ensured that old and new stain matched perfectly, and he invisibly transitioned the flooring between the two rooms where house settling had caused one floor to be lower than the other. (See before and after photos.) It was a pleasure to have Fabian and his family team in our home.

Overall amazing experience -The guys were extremely professional and clean. They kept to their time schedule, informed me of any issues during installation and went above and beyond to fix any unforeseen issues. They made the entire experience easy and convenient.

Went very well. Fabian and one of his sons came out for estimate, in writing. Then we agreed to a date; told him that I wanted the natural wood color; no stain. They were very punctual, cleaned up all garbage. Fabian even mixed the last 2 coats of poly to be 1/2 satin and 1/2 semigloss, as I was undecided to satin or semigloss; the floors are FABULOUS!!!! So pleased with the results. They were professional and very easy to work with. Did a walk through at the end with Fabian; no issues. Everything done as promised and on time. They told me what to clean the floors with , and that was it!!! I HIGHLY recommend Fabian and his sons. So kind and "down to earth" and they're work is great!!

He did an average quality job, but I had to call him back twice to fix some issues. He was very receptive to my needs, but overall he seemed more interested in getting the job done quickly and getting paid.

Fabian and his staff are very professional and did an amazing job from start to finish. They were very clean, organized and detailed on their work. They took pride in everything they did and made sure that every room looked beautiful. I highly recommended them, very responsive and I am so grateful I found them. They explained everything, and explained the entire process and every day came in to my home with a smile, always asking if we were happy and I must say, we are beyond happy with their talent and work!!

We have ended up with a horror ! Fabian was the nicest and, seemingly most sincere, contractor who came to evaluate the project and give us an estimate. During the time Fabian worked on our floors, he was fantastic. He was prompt, courteous, professional and several times came to our home with members of his family. My wife and I could not have been happier with the job Fabian was doing. Everything he promised us was delivered promptly and professionally. As a matter of fact we hired Fabian because of the many grades of "A" and recommendations on Angie's list and until the end of the project when the problems began, we found him to be fantastic. When the new floor in our family room was finished and Fabian had applied the last coat of lacquer we noticed two of the floor boards (he installed red oak flooring) had separated and we had a crack 1/16" to 1/8" wide. We paid him in full and he promised to return the next day to "repair" the separated boards. During that evening, my wife and I heard what sounded like muffled gunshots coming from the family room area. I went downstairs to discover that more boards were separating and each time a board would separate, there would be a loud "crack." Fabian came over as promised and told us that the cracking and separating was "normal." He said "that's what happens with boards." I truly hope I can post pictures here on Angie's list of what Fabian calls "normal." Now when visitors come to our home they ask, "What the heck happened to your floor?" We told Fabian how unhappy we were and, in the meantime, more boards were cracking apart. We had twenty or thirty major cracks in our new floor. Fabian kept coming over to inspect the floor. He came over promptly each time he promised to come over. He was courteous and professional each time, but he kept insisting that the cracking and separating was normal. My wife and I were horrified with the floor. Fabian contacted the company he bought the wood from and they suggested he hire a floor inspector certified to determine if we were entitled to compensation. The inspector came over and determined the separation of our floor boards was "within the normal range" and the wood company was not "responsible." My wife and I could not believe it. Our new wood floor was a horror show. Fabian offered to come over and "putty" the floor and we went along with that because he told us that might work. Long story short, the boards continued to crack apart and I will try to post photos here so you can see the horrible result we have. Fabian does not return our calls now although I did speak with his son today. When I told the son my wife and I will now file a lawsuit, the son laughed at me. My wife and I are the most honest people. I am a Rotarian and my wife is a second grade teacher. Before you use Fabian, contact us and come over to see our floors. Then decide who you will use. What a horror we have.

After reading about Fabian Teran on Angie's List I entered our business transaction with high expectations and wondering whether he was as good as the reviews he'd received. Well Fabian not only met my expectations, he EXCEEDED them. First and foremost, his worksmanship was excellent, his pricing more than fair, and he clearly was motivated to please the customer. I understand that one of contractors greatest difficulties is trying to staying on schedule when moving from one job to the next. In this case Fabian got caught in an emergency situation which delayed our start time by 3 or 4 hours. That said, he was courteous enough to call and assure me he would arrive at the rescheduled time [12pm], to which he was punctually, on time for. The demolition part of any job, particularly taking up ceramic tiles, can be difficult and full of surprises. This specific effort was complicated by a faulty, rental jack hammer which required Fabian to stop every 2-3 minutes to retighten the bolts holding the jack hammer blade in place. Other contractors might have balked at moving forward with such an inconvenience but Fabian was patient and we got through it with minimal delay. Once Fabian got into laying down the prefinished, hardwood flooring he moved quickly and efficiently. Be forewarned, Fabian is unlike the 'typical' contractor. When he says it is a family business, it is literally a family endeavor. His work crew consisted of his two sons and his lovely wife Kathy. Watching them at work was a real pleasure. They worked at a deliberate but steady pace and their energy was focused and positive. When confronted with a couple of complications [eg: clearance of dishwasher w/ floor and uneven brick fireplace hearth] they problem-solved them very nicely. Overall, Fabian and his family possessed the perfect blend of professionalism with a warmth and friendliness that one rarely sees in this line of work. It was refreshing to have this experience with Fabian, especially after having the opposite experience last summer when my central air conditioning unit had to be replaced. The contractor, who shall go nameless, while knowing what he was doing, had poor communication/people-skills and literally got verbally abusive with me. So these contrasting experiences made me appreciate someone like Fabian all the more. Finally, the entire job from start to finish took approximately a day and a half, which is exactly what Fabian said it would take....so it was a job well done and I not hesitate to use him again for another project. I wish there was a spot I could show you photos of the finished work. It is gorgeous! p.s. I would be remiss if I did not mention that my wife asked for a 'favor' unrelated to the job we contracted for. She wanted a transition floor plate in our adjacent dining room to match the one he put down in the den/kitchen area. He certainly could have said, NO but he graciously said YES............without any additional charge. That counts a lot in my book. Thank you Fabian ...to you and your lovely family. Buenas suerte! I just finished having my floors refinished by Hardwood Floors by Fabian. This provider was responsive from the time of first contact until the job was completed. He returned my phone call promptly, on the same day I first contacted him, and was available to come to my house to provide an estimate within a day or two. He provided a verbal estimate as well as emailing me a written estimate immediately. He was able to start the job within a couple of weeks of hiring. The crew arrived each day at the scheduled time and cleaned up any and all the dust that was made by the process. I had heard horror stories about the amount of dust that was left in the house from others who've had their floors refinished and I'm pleased to say that wasn't the case with mine. My floors were in desperate need of being refinished and now they look beautiful! I've already had my living and dining rooms measured and obtained a reasonable estimate to have those floors done as well. I highly recommend Hardwood Floors by Fabian.

We were very pleased with the work of Fabian and his family team. The initial estimate was professionally explained and promptly sent. The promised beginning date was respected. The quality of the work was very high. All this I had expected from the reviews I had previously read on Angie's list. What I could not know was how accommodating Fabian was for changes that appeared unexpectedly during the project: I had ordered the hardwood from my own supplier because of a good price, and it turned out that the quality was not satisfactory. At my request, Fabian drove promptly to his supplier, found an equivalent color but of better quality and returned the bad lot. He re-scheduled the installation for a few days later and restarted promptly; it may have caused an inconvenience to his other projects, but he never mentioned this to me. One of the reasons we replaced the floor was because of squeaks. Fabian was able to trace a flaw in the initial installation (40 years ago) and now the squeaks are just a memory! Furthermore, when at the end of one day I asked him to replace a blemished board somewhere in the middle of the room, he accepted without complaining, and performed a skillful surgical replacement of that board. Finally, I have to say that it was a pleasure seeing how well the team worked together. Thank you! Paul

Fabian and his sons were very kind and professional . Jonathan ( Fabians son ) did a wonderful job on my floor. They answered any questions that I had. My floor was not that big but they still went out of their way for me. I would recommend them in a heartbeat. Thank you for the wonderful job. My floor looks beautiful .

The quality of workmanship and attention to detail were exceptional. Fabian and his sons showed an overarching concern for making sure the end product would create the precise result I wanted. As an example, I had requested a particular staining to allow this central room to best integrate with the remainder of the house. Fabian's son Jonathan felt (correctly) that the stain we chose would not give us the correct result, and so took it on himself to put together several samples on the site, and created a blend of stain to match what was needed. The work was done according to the schedule laid out beforehand, and all workers were both punctual and courteous. The final price was as stated in the original estimates - no surprises or "gotchas". I was extremely happy with the work Fabian and his crew did, and with the final result. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone needing a refinishing.

Fabian and his crew were very punctual. They were courteous, and hard working. they finished all of our rooms in time before our furniture delivery. At the end of the day they cleaned up, not a speck of dirt anywhere. And I'm happy to say that I'm glad my husband and I call Fabian. We are truly satisfied with his work and the price was fair.

Sanded and refinished hardwood floors with three coats of polyurethane. Removed and replaced the furniture.(There was an extra fee for moving furniture.) I was expecting a big mess from the dust from the sanding but was pleasantly surprised to see that with their modern equipment there was very little dust. The workers were pleasant , professional and prompt. I was very pleased with the experience and the outcome. EXCELLENT JOB.

eFabian Teran and his crew are remarkably capable flooring contractors. They were meticulous from start to finish, and deeply knowledgeable about all aspects of flooring installation and materials. Fabian also gave us excellent advice regarding the correct types of underfloor padding that was necessary for each job. The floorboard repair job was carried out quickly and competently; he even contacted a colleague, on the spot, to acquire the correct type of wood to replace the damaged floorboard. Since the building is an historic 19th-century home, we were especially pleased with the level of aesthetic craftsmanship he brought to each aspect of the job. Fabian also has terrific people skills and is a highly professional communicator. He worked compatibly alongside our other contractors, handled an unexpected schedule adjustment we requested with no tension, and was easily available by phone if we had questions before and during the work. We are very impressed with Fabian Teran, and will be hiring him again soon for some major flooring repair work in another of our properties. The whole experience was a relief for us, and the result is truly elegant.

Hardwood Floors by Fabian recently refinished the entire first floor of our house and my wife and I could not be more pleased. Upon placing the first call and speaking to Jonathan we felt that we were dealing with professionals. My wife and I both have busy schedules but were eager to get an estimate and Jonathan was able to accommodate us in coming over within a day or two of me calling. He looked at the floors, took measurements, and presented us on the spot with, what we felt, was a very reasonable estimate. We contacted him back within a few days and made an appointment to begin the work. As that date neared I had a few questions about the job and Jonathan got right back to me and answered all my questions. On the day the work began Fabian, Jonathan, and Eric arrived on time despite the snowstorm we were having. While the multi-day job was going on we got updates and even pictures from Fabian and Jonathan. In a few of the rooms there was a hole in the floor where a previous owner ran coax cable. I forgot to tell Fabian about the holes before the job began but mentioned them halfway through and he was able to fill them in. Before the job our kitchen floor was really beat up and there were a few spots we worried might not come back. Now that the job is completed the kitchen floor and the rest of the first floor look brand new, for exactly the price we were quoted in the estimate. As I wrote at the beginning we could not be more pleased and would not hesitate to recommend Hardwood Floors by Fabian.

Fabian and family did a professional install and refinishing on the floors in my home. From the start Fabian was professional, curtious and understanding. He first did his estimate and gave his professional opinion regarding what I needed. He then advised of the process that will be expected. The flooring was purchased and delivered directly from Fabians recommended supplier. The price of the wood was better than anywhere I could find locally and the quality of the wood was excellent. They stayed on schedule and did the install in a very timely manner. The quality of the work is exceptional and will use Fabian for any future flooring.

The whole family was awesome. I needed to call them in after J&J Wood Flooring canceled our job after being in their calendar for 3 weeks. This cancelation was 12 hours before they were to arrive on Friday morning. As infuriating as inconvenient as unprofessional as you can get, plus they came recommended by a contractor. Back to Team Fabian, they all showed up after the cancelation that same morning, looked over the job, gave me a fair price, and said they could start immediately. Highest quality work, very pleasant, and arrived on time each day. Their on target recommendations were all followed; floors are beautiful! Highly recommend.

I am a new member to Angie's List and thought I could rely on this site. I contacted this provider based on his reviews. But one of the reviews stated something about missing an appointment. Similar situation here. I contacted Mr. Fabian the second week of November about installing a floor in my kitchen. We had a nice discussion and he provided some tips. He advised me at that time that he was going out of the country on vacation until December 2nd. No problem, I advised him I would wait until he returned. I made contact with Fabian on December 4th, giving him a couple of days to settle in. In our initial phone conversation (in November) he quoted me a price but I still wanted him to come by and look at the job for a more accurate view. On the 4th I text-ed Fabian. He told me he could not come by until Friday evening and that he would call me when he was on the way. Although my wife and I had many things to do today (I go back to work tomorrow) one or the other stayed close to home in case he called. Finally no call, no text. I sent him a message at approximately 7:45 pm and he responded with a call, stating he just finished working, was tired and on his way home. We deemed this unreliable and unprofessional. We have received 5 other estimates and BTW 3 of 5 not via this service, we will go with one of them.
