Did not transport anything for me - just had to move a few couches and an elliptical out of my basement to garage. No issues. They called ahead, showed up on time, and finished on time. Setting up the time and date went well - responses to my questions were always on same day, I did not have to wait.

Workers worked hard; moved a lot of stuff in a short time. Were careful and professional. The issue: Their business office added $45 for 15 minutes of travel time, which we did not hear about until they were pulling out of the driveway. Could have stopped 15 minutes earlier if we had known. Listening to just one side of the conversation, it sounded like the business office was trying to figure out anything they could to add something to our bill.

My apologize if I did not get a chance to go over the travel time. This is standard for all moving companies that charge by the hour and is always the same in the [Removed Personal Info] area. I try to make sure we go over it for every job, but I may not have gone over it. Just to be clear to everyone we charge a flat quarter of an hour travel time in the [Removed Personal Info] area to get to the pick up location and the same for the return trip. If we have to get gas or get stuck in traffic that is on us we just charge the quarter hour. If the job is outside the [Removed Personal Info] we adjust accordingly. We certainly were not trying to pad the bill, just standard practice. Hope this helps. Thanks for your business, Paul

Overall good experience. Worked hard, respected our property, moved quickly. I was not told in advance about the travel charges, and we agreed on a 2 man crew, but they sent 3 (and charged me for 3), so the cost was significantly greater than what I had budgeted.

We requested a quote from Highline and asked about availability for a particular date. We never got back to the company to officially schedule (as we booked with another vendor), and we never got a call back to confirm (though the company insists that we must have received a confirmation call and voicemail). However, the moving team showed up anyway. To get out of an awkward situation, my husband did approve one hour of work that was never performed. I emailed with the main office later that week to ask if there was anything we could do to dispute the charge, but was told that we would have to pay the $95, despite the fact that Highline did not perform the service (that we never actually hired them to do in the first place). I realize that this was a mix-up, and we probably should have called to say that we were going with another vendor, but I really did not appreciate the tone of communications I received from Highline. Update: Highline did reach out to us in order to clear up the confusion. It sounds like this was an honest case of miscommunication (or lack of communication) and they refunded us the $95 we had paid for the one hour of work. Based on this, I would say that, while the quoting and scheduling process did not go smoothly, Highline does value their reputation and their customers and showed willingness to fix a problem. In a service industry, problems are guaranteed to come up with any vendor and I appreciate Highline stepping up and doing the right thing in this case.
Description of Work: Highline did not provide moving services, but did charge us for work not performed. Update: Highline did reach out to me and refunded our cost due to the miscommunication and confusion around scheduling and acceptance of their quote.

The movers were punctual, kind and professional. They worked very hard and relatively fast and put almost everything where I wanted it to go. They were so efficient that they put something on the truck that I was going to sell to someone else! Paul was very responsive when I needed a couple of big pieces moved the next day. I would definitely recommend them!

James and Adam were amazingly efficient and able to carry even the heaviest furniture. They packed more into their truck than seemed possible. Despite ours being their third move of the day, they were jogging up the stairs and didn't stop until all was loaded. They were very polite and considerate. We were very pleased and amazed they were done in 3 hours including the time driving to Brockport. We will recommend them to all our friends.

I called Paul for an estimate and emailed a list of furniture to him. His price was BY FAR, the most reasonable. Communication was excellent, movers were prompt and curtious. Everything went very smoothly, which is something, considering this was done in the dead of winter. The best movers I have ever dealt with. My other two companies I received bids from were also from Angie's list, but Highline was my choice.

We had Highline move our office consisting of furniture (desks, bookcases, etc), partitions, storage items, and related office stuff. A crew of 5 arrived with 2 trucks. They made the transfer in about 2 1/2 truckloads to a new location down the street. A lot of the furniture was heavy and/or awkward but they didn't seem to have any problems. The 5 guys worked very hard, were polite and accommodating. We were very happy with the results and will use them for any future moving needs.

three hours. When we arrived in Camillus, they moved everything into the new house for us and put everything where we wanted it (in different rooms or specific places). They also put together my bed for me once it arrived at the new house. I would definitely recommend this company to my friends and family. They were very nice and extremely considerate of my personal items. They made a big move so much easier and less stressful on myself and my family.
Description of Work: I moved from Canandaigua NY to Camillus NY and had an apartment filled with furniture and small items in boxes. My apartment is multiple floors and older so it was difficult for me to move without the help of professionals. Highline showed up right on time with two men and a truck. They had me point out everything in the apartment that needed to go in the truck and they got to work immediately. They carried everything out of the apartment and into the truck very carefully. There were some items such as my mattress and box spring that I thought would have to be moved out of a window because they wouldn't fit down the stairs, but Highline just took the doors off the hinges and moved them smoothly right out of the apartment. It was very apparent that they knew what they were doing and were confident doing it. They listened exactly to me when I told them what items needed to be moved and knew the best way to get them out without scratching or ruining the furniture. The entire move took about

It took over 12 hours to move our stuff from one house to another in the same town. I think it took so long because they did not estimate the amount of stuff that we had correctly. They moved our hot tub on a pickup truck and it got damaged because it was not properly secured. The head guy that moved us was really nice but one of the other guys gave us a bit of an attitude. We had to pay in cash at the end of the move and they did not have any change to give us. In addition, nobody followed up to see if we were satisfied or not. Due to time constraints, they were also unable to move some other items from my parents house as promised.

We apologize the customer was not completely satisfied. I feel the weather in January this past winter and the level of preparedness for the move were also contributing factors to it taking a bit longer than hoped. Which does happen sometimes. Also we do not require cash payments ever we take cash, check or credit card, but we do not always have a lot of change on site. As always we will continue try to improve customer service and satisfaction on every job!

We had two bedrooms, a dining room, office, kitchen and living room full of furniture. Plus, they moved my outside barbeque grill and outside chairs. The two guys arrived on time and moved the entire house within two hours. Our move was from the Highland area on Megis Street to Charlotte. Nothing was broken and they took very good care of our furniture. They placed the furniture in the basement and upstairs upon directions. The experience of moving the furniture was a lot less stressful give their customer service.

Using Highline to move a piano this weekend was as our last experience a total success. The two guys arrived a little before schedule (not a problem with us) and had the piano loaded in no time. The entire move took an hour and we were super excited that such care was given to the piano. I would refer Highline to anyone that is looking for an affordable and experienced moving company.

On first contact with the owner, Paul Gillette, I explained that I had never employed professional movers before, nor stored anything and expressed concern over the value of many of my items including expensive furniture and artwork. He said he could take care of all of it, much of it should be wrapped and stored in climate control and he "had it covered". (he denies ever saying this). I told him I would use his company to move and store. His team arrived promptly on my moving day, but the truck was small and they arrived with no wrapping and very little padding. I asked the team if they needed to wrap and they assured me everything would be okay. They had to make two trips in order for everything to get to storage. I did not view the storage, nor go to retrieve anything until several months later. I was shocked when I opened the door, My belongings had been thrown into the unit with absolutely no concern about their care. Boxes marked "fragile" were dented and mashed. My leather furniture was not wrapped and stacked with other heavy items on top. A table was upended and had a broken leg. I went to the office to talk to Paul who was not in. The young woman who was there expressed concern and said that Paul would be in touch. I had to call and email several times and finally wrote a letter, "return receipt". He did respond to that and we set up a time to look at the unit. He agreed that it was not good and actually expressed some concern about my things. However, he said that most people follow the van to the unit and supervise the unloading. I felt that it was their job and I was paying for them to do it correctly, nor should I have to supervise--if that was the case he needed to hire reliable people or supervise it himself. He asked what I wanted him to do. He did not feel that it would advantageous to move to a larger or climate control at that time--"it would do more harm than good". I agreed, and asked him to schedule the next move for when he could be there and see the condition of items as they left the unit. He agreed to that, but on the day of the move he was "busy" , although he did view the contents again. The team (different this time) said that the placement of items was terrible and could not believe any movers would do this. They told us to take pictures which we did. At the end of loading everything I went into the office and asked him how we were to proceed. He looked blank and said, what did I mean. I asked him how he planned to make amends for the damage and he then said that it would have to be submitted to his insurance company and any reimbursement would "take a long time". I submitted pictures of damage to Paul , both hard copy and email. I received a letter from him stating he never said he "had it covered" and that if I had wanted insurance to cover he needed the pics within 30 days (which I did). He offered to give me $50.00 for touchups. Meanwhile here I am with $7,000.00 worth of leather furniture with dents and scrapes, a broken table and numerous broken dishes and keepsakes. I do not plan to pursue this further, but I hope this review saves others the misery I have felt over this whole transaction. Mr. Gillette is a young man who needs to learn that integrity and honesty are the building blocks of good business. He currently lacks both.
Description of Work: Movers took my household to storage (Highline's) where it was stored until I could move into my new home. My things were in storage from June-February. Highline then moved my stored items to my new home on February 17, 2014.

Response from Highline Moving Delivery and Storage
Customer contacted us to move items to a temporary housing location after her divorce and to storage. The move to the place she was going to be staying and storage went well other than after the move it took many attempts to collect payment. She was offered climate and standard storage and she opted due to cost concerns for standard storage. Which I believed served her well as items were not supposed to be in storage long. It is clearly marked on the contract she signed that she was renting standard storage. First time I heard of an issue was about 6 months after we had placed the items in storage. She said that she had first visited her unit about a month after the original move and came several more times looking for items and moving items and she didn't like how everything was positioned in the unit. (She was behind in storage rent at the time) I scheduled a time to have the driver for the move and myself look at the unit. We did so and many many of the items had been moved from there original locations. Which was ok, but the unit was quite full because she said she did not plan on getting into the unit in the interim till she moved into her new home and did not want to incur additional storage costs by getting a second unit so she could access items if she needed them. There was a leg to a "antique" table that had been previously glued that had come apart again and I offered to have it repaired at our expense, she declined. We would have been happy to repair the leg of the one table and and any scratches to furniture even though we believe they were caused by moving items within the unit without enough man power and taking enough time to pull items out to get to whatever she was trying to access. She was well aware that insurance on her items while in storage was not included in anything she purchased. We offer renters insurance or many tenants have there own. She currently still owes rent on the unit she rented. We tried to do everything we could for her. I asked for current pictures of her sectional that she was concerned about because just like when we deliver new sectionals you have to give them about a day for the leather and padding to recover to there normal shape after being transported there will be some impressions. She never sent these pictures. I believe the reason she "will not pursue it further" is because the only reason these "issues arose in the first place was because she didn't want to pay for her moving and storage costs. This assumption is because when I offered to repair items even though we did not believe the happened during the move she always refused. I am not happy that she is not a happy customer as most of ours are, but feel we did everything we could to reconcile the situation and make her happy.

I contacted Paul at Highline, and we scheduled a moving date. I described that I was moving out of a 3000 square foot house, and had a lot of boxes, although I'd sold some of the furniture. I also mentioned that I didn't have any idea if all of my items could fit into the truck, and so I'd reserved a trailer from ABF/U-Pack as well. Soon after 9am on the agreed date, two movers showed up, and let me know they had also been booked for an afternoon job. I suggested that they call and get more help, and eventually by noon, one additional mover arrived. It soon became clear that I probably needed 4-5 movers for an all-day job, but the three movers were required to leave about 3pm to go to their next job, and so I got my 26' truck filled, but with many remaining items that needed to be packed into the trailer. Highline didn't have further availability, and so I needed to find another packing firm that was able to load the remaining items into the trailer. This was extremely inconvenient, but not the reason for the poor rating. When I arrived on the west coast, the true damage was revealed. As the movers i'd hired there were unloading the truck, they called me over and showed me how much of the wood furniture was packed in a way that allowed wood-to-wood contact. Thus my furniture pieces had been rubbing together over the course of the 2600 mile journey. I took pictures of the furniture in the truck before it was moved out by the crew on that side. When I had rented the truck, I had also rented 6 dozen moving blankets, Highline had only used about 4-1/2 dozen when packing. The wood-to-wood contact caused extensive damage to nearly all of the pieces of Thomasville dining room set, as well as damage to an expensive Italian china cabinet, and further scratching and broken arm on a Thomasville breakfast nook set. My wife immediately called Paul at Highline to alert him of the damage. He requested details of our move date, and said he'd immediately look into who was onsite, and would get back to us. We didn't hear from Paul. I brought in a company that does on-site furniture repair for an estimate, which came out to over $6000. Since I had an email from Paul in my inbox, I hit reply and attached the estimate and a few pictures. I called to follow up a few weeks later and he denied receving it, so I sent it via postal mail. In my next call, he said that his insurance wouldn't be able to cover anything since his truck was not used for the moving purposes. I told him that I didn't care if it was his insurance or his bank account paying, but I had thousands of dollars of damage due to his company's poor work. Paul refused to follow up, and so I was left to file a claim with my insurance company, and sent them after Highline. So thanks to good insurance, my loss has been reduced to my insurance deductible, but there's the possibility that my premiums will rise as a result of the large claim. You might be wondering if the journey itself was unusually harsh and contributed to the damage. It wasn't. I'd driven a moving truck cross-country twice before, and was very careful about curbs, rough roads, and other things which can cause damage. Everything in boxes arrived just fine, including all of the china and crystal to fill up those cabinets. I think that Paul himself was, at one time, a good and careful mover, and built up a good reputation for his company. Now that he's sitting behind the desk running multiple other crews, it seems he's not passed on that training to all of his crew. The worst part is that he would not stand behind his company's work. His crew was pleasant, and worked diligently. But they obviously did not have much experience packing fine furniture, particularly for long trips.
Description of Work: I contracted Highline to load a 26' Penske Moving truck, that I would be driving from Rochester, NY to Seattle, WA. I had previously used Highline for moving within the Rochester area and had been satisified. However, on this move, poor packing practices resulted in thousands of dollars in damage to my furniture. Highline disavowed responsibility and would not compensate me.

We are very sad that this customer is not happy. They hired us to assist in loading a truck and we did just that her husband helped in the load and we followed his lead on how he wanted things packed. Unfortunately we have no we of covering loss on moves where the move is not on our vehicle and delivered by us and when others are involved in packing both during and after our work was completed. I asked our agent there is just no way to provide that sort of coverage. The other issue was I received pictures with estimates where it was said it would cost $720 to touch up one item. I just could not see that being a legitimate estimate based on the pictures I was provided. I am very sorry she was not satisfied and as always will try to make improvements in the future. I am sure it was not her intention, but when provided a $5,343.60 estimate to repair scratches and scuffs that she happened during the ride there almost seemed unreasonable. I tried to work with here but there was just nothing I could do in these circumstances.
