Description of Work: I called several times and left messages for someone to call me back and no one ever called me back either way. This is not good for companies that can not even call you back like my time is not important like theirs.

Description of Work: I contacted this company at least 5 times over the period of 60 days to try and have them come out and provide an estimate for repairs I know needed to be done along with potential repairs they may notice as professionals working with chimneys. I left several voice mail messages and other days their answering service was swamped and could not leave a message. I understand if business is booming and they might not need more work; however, it would be more professional to return calls and notify the person of such a situation rather than ignoring calls.

Called Wulff's and they came when they next had an opening (about a month 'cause I called early in their busy season). He came & inspected the job at the time and date promised. A few weeks later he arrived with the flue extender and installed it (it was a special order). Mark communicated well and clearly knows his business.
Description of Work: I've had a continuing problem with smoke in the basement when I have a fire in the fireplace (for several years). We've had a variety of people look at the problem and they mostly shake their heads or suggest whatever they do (clean flue, repair masonry, etc). Mark spent a decent amount of time looking at the problem and then suggested it was "make-up air" for the fireplace being sucked down the adjacent flue. His suggestion was installing a 1-foot stainless steel flue extender to move the smoke well away from the furnace outlet. He ordered the extender and installed it. We had our first fire tonight... without smoke in the basement!

The project went very well from the submission of an estimate to the completion of the work. Wulfs was not the lowest estimate. I had three estimates, one higher and one lower. I took the Wulfs estimate because it was detailed and exact on price. The other estimates came in as round numbers ($2,400 and $4,200). Wulfs came to do the work when they said they would and completed the job somewhat beyond schedule because of rain delays. They were very professional, were careful with the shrubbery and cleaned up every day when they finished work. They left no debris at all. The two men on the job were wonderful to work with. I would not hesitate to give them the highest recommendation possible.
Description of Work: My chimney was in serious need of repair because of weather erosion. Wulfs removed the old bricks in the chimney to the point it was still solid and then rebuilt the chimney. They took great care to find new brick that matched the old brick as closely as possible. They raised the height of the chimney so it met local building code and put a new cap on the chimney to keep our debris, something that was not on the old chimney.

Mark was punctual and went to work right a way. He was neat and cleaned up every day. He's pleasant and personable. The one thing that surprised me was that he started the job sooner than I expected so I was surprised to come home one day and see the scaffolding up and the chimney down. It worked out well though. No complaints.
Description of Work: The existing chimney needed to be partially torn down (approx. 22 courses) and rebuilt. It has a new crown and seal, the flashing was painted and sealed, and the entire chimney was waterproofed. The chimney was also cleaned on the inside when finished. Getting comparable pricing was hard - some contractors wanted to rebuild the entire chimney which was significantly higher in cost. For those that bid comparable work, Wulf was a just slightly higher. After checking references, I decided to go with Wulf. I also liked that they were highly rated on this site as well. The rebuilt portion of the chimney does not match the old part very well, but I'm convinced that it matches as well as possible given that the original chimney was built in the 1930s and bricks are made differently today.

Mark Wulf and his partner were very professional, provided an estimate that was reasonable, showed up on time and cleaned up after the work. They seemed to really care about the quality of their work. I was very pleased with this experience.
Description of Work: The job was to replace and seal the crown, clean mold from the masonry and seal it, seal the flashing at two levels, and repaint the cap to prevent rust stains.

Mark and his assistants removed the crown of the chimney, which was crumbling and repointed the bricks. They also, coated the crown with a sealant. The work was done on time and within the time estimates, that were provided. The job was done even over a holiday and although there were some challenges with the rented equipment, they worked around those challenges. They were willing to do a little touch up painting, of a small area of the roof. It was that flexibility and attention to detail, which put him ahead of other masons.
Description of Work: Mark was very professional in his approach. He arrived promptly to look at the job and gave a very detailed estimate of the work, that needed to be done. The assessment was to remove the existing crown and put up a beveled course of brick. Point chimney, where needed and seal flashings. Our home requires some extra care and equipment, because of the steep tile roof.
